well, I suspect this action may get IDCC a bit more press that we have had in a long time. By the looks of ITC actions in the past, it takes a lot to get the ITC to accept a complaint for investigation.
Most ITC cases involve allegations of patent infringement and issues related to complex technology.
we are in the right place
Finnegan Henderson has more patent lawyers than any other law firm in the world. A third of them have litigated in the ITC, and many have litigated multiple ITC cases.
with the right team
Over the course of their careers, our ITC litigators have been involved in over 100 ITC cases, more than twenty percent of all the ITC cases ever filed.
the number of ITC cases F&H have been involved in is likely just over 100, or they might have said "in almost 200 cases", so I will assume they handled about 125 cases. 125 is 20% of 600. If the ITC has only reviewed 600 patent cases, and IDCC has been accepted into that club, then we are
in VERY good shape in deed.
of course, this is just my humble o'pinion
THe below snippet from your post is proven to be correct sooner that you thought. With todays anouncement recurring of > 50m per Quarter gives us > 200m per year and they are not YET collecting on all tech WM has promised
The revenue stream for IDCC as a stand-alone company might be worth a lot more than 200M per year when IDCC is able to collect on all tech in the future as WM promised before
OT- Loop - I couldn't agree more. You express my thoughts better than I did. I just hope you are wrong about our ability to reverse the trend, but my heart sides with you on that.
We have now had two generations of these problems and the likelihood of a return to the old days is slim
Loop - Though you and I were raised a generation apart, we were raised under the same basic rules. Parents guided their children through the difficult time we call childhood. They kept us on the straight and narrow and demanded perfect behavior of us. We never gave "perfect" behavior but we did learn what it meant. Until I was older and on my own, I did not respect that “lesson” I was given.
In that day, the school system also demanded "perfect" behavior of me. It was the lesson that my parents taught me, re enforced by the school system, that allowed me to become as successful as I am today. Many in the last 30 years somehow forgot the “lesson” that allowed them to live the life they do.
We adopted "political correctness" and "multi culturalism", over what we were taught as children, because it was the best way to "ease" our guilt over the seemingly undeserved success we enjoy. Most do not recognize that the "ease" of our success was paid for by the "toils" of our parents and the lessons they taught us. It is a gift that we are supposed to pass on to our children. The "easy way out" does not work. We need to teach our kids that it is OK to succeed and that it takes hard work to achieve success. It is imperative that they succeed to keep our civilization alive. All though we have done it with the best of intentions, I hope our children will learn in spite of the obstacles we have placed in their way.
OT - Sail - I agree that the problem starts at home, but when that student brings the problem behavior to school, and the school can do nothing about it because of either, fear of the student or their parent, or due to restrictions placed on them by the "system" to avoid lawsuits, it makes it difficult to control and/or teach the rest of the class. Many kids who would not normally act up are empowered to do so since the underlying message is "you will not do anything to me, or you, Mr. Teacher, you will get in trouble".
Give the teacher the authority to weed out the trouble maker, and control the learning environment, and you will have 29 happy students that are learning. You can not be a good teacher if you try to be "friends" to ALL of them. You must be a good "teacher" to the ones that will sit still after the misbehaving ones have been removed.
For the USA to maintain the technological edge that supports our standard of living, we must graduate students that can read and write. That can only be done in a controlled and comfortable environment free of disruptions caused by those that misbehave in class without consequence. Bringing back the ability of the teacher to remove the weasel will give the rest of the kids a better education.
Jim - I believe that we would see a different story if we would allow teachers and schools to discipline the rule breakers, as they did in the not to distant past, without the threat of law suite or worry about parents taking the childs side no matter what evidence there may be against them. Society without rules will soon collapse. We seem to be getting closer. Just my opinion.
I wish there was an answer how to manage the violence we see in our country. Maybe it's time to bring back the guillotine?
Sir, your prize awaits
Too much Coffee?
Will you be around to see it?
holy moses! I had no idea you were a trader until you said it just now. LOL
Don't think he can.
*- Mobility technology is the thing that allowed you to roam from whether it's a Wi-Fi network, a WiBro, a cellular network, and allows the user to be sort of indifferent as to what air interface he's existing in. We've invented that technology, standardized it through 802.21, which is one of the U.S.-based standards bodies, and are currently commercializing that technology through a relationship with SK Telecom in Korea, So a long and rich heritage of invention in this area.
*- We were the chair for the WiMAX standard, and we are currently the chair for the extension of WiMAX into what people are calling 4G standard, so very active and also a very leading company within the standards bodies.
*-Today, we are providing software solutions into the 3G market. Our software solutions run, for example, on the Panasonic softBank phone; it is the software used by Infineon for its 3G solution, so it's a software program which began a couple years ago is now finding its way very successfully into the market.
*-More recently, in the last year, we've announced a move to move to a complete terminal unit modem, meaning the ASIC and the software for the 3G handset. So in that regard, we've acquired the necessary technology from 2G technology from Infineon, which is proven technology. We're going to combine that with our complete 3G solution and provide a complete terminal unit into the market.
Spree - I don't short, but if I did I think I would keep my cloths on to do it. - not a board consensus, just a consensus of one
We can also look at it from IDCC and Q point of view. It maight be easier to get an injunction in the US if a judge sees NOK picking on 2 US companies. Looks like a pattern to me.
It did take a long time to get paid for 2G. but 3G is a different animal. we are getting paid from many mfgrs now for 3G. it just so happens that 3 to 5 of the big boys are playing games right now letting NOK run interference. NOK has their prong stuck in a door right now and the legal system will slam it soon. You say IDCC will get bought out at a very nice price. That is fine with me, my very nice price is 2 figures. 71.40 is a ten bagger for me with IDCC. I'll take a 20 bagger. Don't worry so much. sit back and let our team do their thing. I like what they are doing so far.
why do we have to reach Harry or the gang's pucker point? why don't you think we can hit NOK and others pucker point. Why does it always have to be IDCC that folds in your view????
besides, your whole premise is hosed in my opinion. you use something that doesn't belong to you you pay what is fair, or you don't use it. period.
Do they really want to fund a major competitor who could become a giant in future g's? The line is drawn at 3g, only because we were able to come off the mat on 2g and not only survive, but flourish.Everyone has their price,so what is the pucker point for Harry and gang?
you have ratty on ignore most likely
Yes, this is very strange. Clicking on the link you provided takes me to IDCC msg# 175206. I can't get to #175205 by any means. 175204+next gives me 175206.
I can't access Sjratty's post either
Lots of prime, high-tech space available in my neck of the woods. Silicon Valley.
you will loose 50% of the engineers with a cross country move
don't forget that a SMALL company with a LARGE amount of cash on hand is a very ripe takeover target. The buyer wanting to get their hands on the cash for very little investment.
don't forget how many shares are authorized. 100m. when we drop to 50m outstanding the stock can be split without further authorization of shares. With more shares out there and a lower price per share, we should be able to increase institutional ownership a bit more. small float has a way of holding back the rise in price.
I think he meant they ran out of authority to buy
once after all these years i thought you would have given up the hate...
that is just wishfull thinking!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
you are a good man. Your service to our country will be remembered.
Did anyone else just feel the earth move??
I'll take a chance at going crazy. - it won't happen
Just another perspective-so don't go crazy saying it won't happen
once 23 hit 10% everything higher was a new hi %
Is 51% an all-time institutional ownership high?
your imagination is right on today. LOL
just to start shit I imagine
When I bought into IDCC a $6.00 drop would have been a loss of 86%. Today it is 15%.
Thank you TomTomGo for the excellent direction on financial planning and care for my well being.
Everyone has their own risk tolerance, and should proceed according to that.
case in point!!! thanks senior raty
If you are truly trying to help an investor IN ANY STOCK you have to make them aware of risks. I think that many of the people who have commented on perceived risks have been immediately categorized as bashers.
I think you miss the point. he speaks of those that use this forum for the express purpose of hurting IDCC investors in the hopes of making money, and those that have an ax to grind with IDCC for one reason or another. Corp_buyer is one obvious example. Yes some who bring the RISKs to this board have been unfairly criticized , but most that discuss risks in a fair manner are welcomed. Most times it is obvious to tell the difference.
I think that you hit it on the head. I believe a lot of shares went from retail to institutional hands tody. There are now atleast 1million shares in institutional hands that wern't there yesterday. That means 1 million shares in stronger hands making my shares that much more valuable..... thanks you whiners
WS has identified IDCC as a likely institutional core holding in the long term and that is why the stock continues to go up on no news and is only minimally affected adversely on news like we got today on the SAM matter
nice post dzr
dmiller, Isn't it time to add the next line to your signature? "Beginning of the end for shorts 10-24-06"
the last tag line is a bit dated
from YOUR signature
"1/23/06 Born On Date for IDCC"
"Major Insider Dumping" 6-9-06 To 6-29-06
"Black Monday" 7-10-06 31.08 31.14 25.43 25.89 10,447,200 25.89
I hope the shorts are thinking the same thing. If they are saying that itwill all blow over after earnings anouncement, they just might get the suprise I have hoped for them for the last 4 years. a short squeeze will make me and many folks here smile.
J70 - I'm with you. you and I will wait for $4.50 a share while everyone else cashes in at > $100. LOL
dndodd-So would I like to see 5-10 billion, but it won't happen unless we invent the killer patent that everyone has to have and then that would be cheap. The point of the premise is that value in our case will be recognized someday for enterprise value rather than income stream. All it will take is one legitimate offer to get the ball rolling and I don't think companies of interest will wait till IDCC gets to $50 on its own.JMHO, but I think we will see something before 2007 is finished.
I believe Adolph thought the same way
Bull - Let me buy you the first beer at the houston $200. your statement sums it up better than any I have heard
