Judging from Dr. Jack Brown's analysis, privately she might not be pissed, but relieved. I'm sure she would never say that publicly though, at least not verbally.

The problem? Tough Biden/Harris policies have caused border crossings to plummet.
Daily averages for today vs. comparable time pre-pandemic:

July 2024 under Biden/Harris: 1,650 https://t.co/1WmEYgLSwy
It's funny - when we negotiated the toughest bipartisan border bill in history, you and nearly every Republican turned against it because Donald Trump told you to keep the border unfixed only so you could send out tweets like these!

Nikki Haley Voters PAC Announces Support for Kamala Harris

Joe Biden Drops Out Of 2024 Presidential Election
By Mandy Taheri
Weekend Reporter
A coalition of former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley voters pledged their support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid on Sunday, hours after President Joe Biden announced that he was dropping out of the race.
Biden announced on Sunday afternoon in a letter that he will not be seeking a second term in this year's presidential election and threw his support behind Harris. The president's decision follows weeks of mounting pressure from people within his own party and from key Democratic donors urging him to step aside for the sake of the party's future after a disastrous debate performance last month against former President Donald Trump.
The political action committee (PAC), previously known as Haley Voters for Biden, which now features Harris' name, seeks to amplify the voices of former Haley voters in support of Harris' White House bid.
Craig Snyder, the group's director, told Newsweek in an email on Sunday afternoon that the organization believes Harris "is best suited to defeat Donald Trump in November."
"A tough former prosecutor, the Vice President comes from the centrist wing of the Democratic Party, not it's left most fringe...For Haley voters, all of this puts the Vice President in a sweet spot for them to register their ongoing opposition to [former] President Trump," he said.
Haley, the former South Carolina governor and United Nations (U.N.) ambassador running for the GOP ticket, ended her campaign in March following losses on Super Tuesday in competition with Trump who is the Republican Party's presidential nominee. Overall, Haley, who served in Trump's administration, won more than 2 million votes nationally on Super Tuesday. She also polled well among moderates and college-educated voters that don't support Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda.
Last week, Haley spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) where she criticized the Biden administration and specifically called out Harris, saying, "Kamala had one job...one job...and that was to fix the border. Now imagine her in charge of the entire country."
Haley, meanwhile, has endorsed Trump's candidacy.

Snyder told Newsweek that Haley's "disparaging comments" were "motivated by political rather than substantive concerns, and we are certain that those comments will not be a decisive factor in the ultimate voting decision of the Haley voters whose extraordinary act in the primaries of protest against Donald Trump as the leader of the Republican Party means they are going to give the Democratic nominee at the very least serious consideration in November."
Haley has not released a statement on Biden stepping down or his endorsement of Harris as of late Sunday afternoon.
Newsweek has reached out to Haley for comment via her former presidential campaign email on Sunday.
The PAC quickly shared Biden's endorsement of Harris on X, formerly Twitter, and wrote: "We support @JoeBiden's recommendation and will immediately change the name of our organization to Haley Voters for Harris. There is no time to lose."
The organization has already changed its name on its social media accounts, but its website still reflects Biden's name.
Democrats will have to choose a new nominee by August 7 or face being kept off the ballot in Ohio. The nominee will then accept the party's nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which takes from August 19 to 22.
In its X post, the Haley Voters for Harris PAC advised the vice president to "select a moderate VP" and suggested three governors: Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. It is not known who will run alongside Harris.
All three governors posted statements applauding Biden's legacy and their gratitude towards him shortly after his announcement. Beshear wrote on X that "while his decision today could not have been easy, it is in the best interest of our country, and our party."
In another social media post, the PAC expressed support for Harris and wrote "We welcome @KamalaHarris taking the torch that @JoeBiden passed to her."

Report finds ‘clear distinctions’ in US women’s health outcomes, which can be linked to states’ abortion laws
Jessica Glenza

Last modified on Sat 20 Jul 2024 07.28 EDT
Women’s health is in a “perilous” place with deep and growing inequalities across regions of the US, a new report from the Commonwealth Fund has found. The report ranks states based on 32 indicators, ranging from insurance coverage to breast and cervical cancer to Covid-19.
Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont ranked at the top across a range of health issues. South-eastern states – most of which now have near-total abortion bans – ranked at the bottom on a wide range of women’s health indicators.
“Where you live matters to your health and healthcare,” said Dr Joseph Betancourt, president of the Commonwealth Fund. “This is having a disproportionate effect on women of color and women with low incomes.”
The goal of the report was to contribute to policies, “guaranteeing all women across the US can have access to quality affordable care – no matter where they live”.
The report largely relies on public data from 2022, a pivotal year in women’s health, when the supreme court overturned Roe v Wade. For nearly 50 years, Roe v Wade provided a federal right to terminate a pregnancy. When the decision was overturned, regulation of abortion reverted to the states. Fourteen quickly issued near-total abortion bans, including many across the south-east.
Where you live matters to your health and healthcare
Dr Joseph Betancourt, Commonwealth Fund president
A map of the worst-performing states in the nation looks like a belt across the American south, stretching from Nevada to Florida and north to Tennessee. Notably, Nevada does not have an abortion ban, but tends to have worse health metrics because of a large, first-generation immigrant population.
“There are clear distinctions between states and delivery systems that perform well for women,” said Sara Collins, a vice-president at Commonwealth and senior scholar studying healthcare access and quality.
States that tended to perform worst had not expanded Medicaid, a public health insurance for low-income Americans. They also tended to have fewer healthcare providers overall, particularly OB-GYNs. Those regional differences are likely to be exacerbated by abortion bans, which make it legally perilous for doctors to practice.
Deaths from all causes were highest in south-eastern states – including from preventable causes such as substance use, Covid-19, pregnancy-related deaths and chronic treatable conditions.
Poor performing states also tended to miss opportunities to identify and treat at-risk women. They screened fewer women for postpartum depression, had higher rates of syphilis and congenital syphilis (when the disease is passed to a baby) and higher rates of cancer. They had higher rates of cesarean births for low-risk pregnancies and the worst maternal mortality rates, with particularly stark disparities between Black and white women.
Also notable is how these trends have become more pronounced in the last four decades. In other reports, researchers have found health disparities shrank between the 1960s and 1980s. Now, worse health outcomes in the south form what some researchers call the “multiples” belt, where a laundry list of health outcomes are worse – from cancer to diabetes to HIV infection rates.
Still, the prospects of state legislatures or Congress finding common ground to improve women’s health look dim. Many of the issues most impactful to women’s health are also the most politically contentious.
For instance, Republicans have actively sought abortion bans for decades and opposed the expansion of Medicaid since the Obama administration. Republicans have also undermined public health authorities, the sort of workers who are key to disrupting transmission of diseases such as syphilis.
Some researchers, such as the health equity expert Daniel Dawes, have described these outcomes as the “political determinants of health” – in other words, the ways policy shapes the health and wellbeing of the population.
“When you think of the structural conditions that many folks find themselves in, there is an underlying policy – political action or inaction – that has determined those conditions and structured the resources that has enabled those conditions to exist,” said Dawes, founding dean of the School of Global Health at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
Without addressing those politics, Dawes said, “you’re only going to continue nibbling around the edges of the problem.”

Been swinging this up and down past couple of months, but been in and out and watching this industry for quite a while. Recently AWK broke a flag and moving into my projected exit area and may be topping out for a retrace. Even though profitable trading, what I've been watching is a troubling trend of privatization of our services and infrastructure to big corps. If criminal trump and his republicans get into or stay in control of anything, this undoubtedly will become worse at a much higher costs to the people.
American Water isn't the only one, but has been one of the leaders in large private companies coming in and taking over public water and sewer systems with promises that do nothing but turn into bait and switch. Dozens of states where they've come in and taken over public systems has seen consumers bills skyrocket shortly after, every time. Doubling or more in some instances. With the climate crisis looming down upon us, this can't end well, at least not for the average Joe or Jane.
A lot of people are starting to scream a bit and rejecting the privatizations and putting pressure on some lawmakers, but the old trick of jacking up prices 30% and then giving a discount of 15%, or similarly asking for a super large increase from a regulatory commission knowing or planning on a smaller but still large increase giving false impressions to pacify, are all being played out. Along with "investigations" that end up going nowhere. In the end, corporate profits are still up considerably, people's pocket's are emptied, and the inflation is blamed on President Biden.
One example, but stories like this are becoming more frequent and in many cases the peoples complaints get absolutely nowhere, and in some cases, profits are taken at the expense of subpar maintenance and quality;

State cuts Pennsylvania American Water rate hike in half
The state's approved plan will result in a consumer price increase of about 10%, while PAWC's proposal would have resulted in an increase of more than 20%.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — On Thursday, the state reduced Pennsylvania American Water's large rate hike request and made several major changes to the proposal.
Pennsylvania American Water proposed a rate hike in November of 2023 for nearly $1 billion in increases, which would increase PAWC's total annual operating revenues for water service by approximately $199.2 million, or 24.2 percent. For the average residential customer, the proposed rates would increase the monthly water bill by about $17.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission voted 4-1 on Thursday to scale back the proposal, including:
Cutting the increase by more than 50%.
Launching an investigation into the water quality complaints voiced by many Scranton-area residents during the public input hearings.
Eliminating an item in the proposal that would have rewarded PAWC for management performance.
Calling on PAWC to increase company contributions to the utility's Hardship Fund by an additional $1 million.
The revised rate changes provide for a revenue increase of approximately $99.3 million per year, compared to PAWC's initial request of nearly $202.4 million—a 9.99% increase compared to PAWC's proposed 20% increase.
The Commission also rejected several proposals included in the PAWC rate case, which had been opposed by consumer advocates and other concerned parties, determining that they were not in the public interest.
Local lawmakers vigorously opposed the rate hike, calling it "an assault on customers."
Public hearings on the rate increase were held throughout the area in January, as Lackawanna County officials called on the PUC to deny the proposal.
In May, an administrative law judge recommended a smaller water revenue increase of approximately $92.6 million.
The new water rates are currently scheduled to go into effect on August 7.
All public documents related to this rate hike request are posted on the PUC's website.
May be able to trade it, but the solution to this ever growing issue seems illusive. The climate crisis will exasperate this to more extreme levels in the near future.

A federal bankruptcy court judge has dismissed Rudy Giuliani's bankruptcy case, saying it is "in the best interests of creditors."
The decision exposes Giuliani to lawsuits, foreclosures and other measures that allow creditors, including two defamed Georgia election workers, to collect what they're owed by the former New York City mayor.
MORE: Giuliani's bankruptcy case appears likely to be dismissed, opening door for collection of damages
The decision followed months of missed deadlines by Giuliani, who evaded questions about his finances.
“The record in this case reflects Mr. Giuliani’s continued failure to meet his reporting obligations and provide the financial transparency required of a debtor in possession,” the decision said. “The lack of financial transparency is particularly troubling given concerns that Mr. Giuliani has engaged in self-dealing and that he has potential conflicts of interest that would hamper the administration of his bankruptcy case.”

Giuliani filed for bankruptcy in December 2023 after a jury ordered him to pay nearly $150 million in fines and damages to former election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss for defaming them with false accusations that the mother and daughter committed election fraud while the two were counting ballots in Georgia's Fulton County on Election Day in 2020.
The dismissal will allow Giuliani to appeal the defamation judgment.

Democrats will put up billboards in swing states that show Donald Trump and tie him to Project 2025, a conservative manifesto that could become reality if he wins in November.
The Democratic National Committee’s paid media campaign escalates liberal efforts to publicize Project 2025 and tie it to the former president after he sought to distance himself from the plan. The blueprint for a second Trump administration is led by the rightwing thinktank the Heritage Foundation and counts support from more than 100 other conservative groups.
According to a plan first shared with the Guardian, 36 billboards in both English and Spanish will go up in nine cities in seven battleground states: Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Raleigh and Charlotte. They show Trump’s face alongside language such as “Trump’s plan to be a dictator on day 1: Project 2025. Google it” and say that the project “guts checks and balances, seeks revenge and bans abortion nationwide”.
What is Project 2025 and what is Trump’s involvement?

Trump and his Republican allies “know that when Americans hear about Project 2025, they do not support it”, the DNC communications director, Rosemary Boeglin, said in a statement. “The DNC won’t let them get away with it.”
Joe Biden has used similar terms when discussing Project 2025 this week, posting on X: “Google Project 2025.” The president has also directed people to a website his campaign created that details the project’s goals and how they would affect Americans. But Biden did not bring up the project during the debate as some expected, missing an opportunity to attack Trump over extreme policies.

Project 2025 has become a trending topic in recent weeks as the left tries to warn voters of what Trump could do with a second term. The 900-plus-page document goes agency by agency to propose a wide variety of changes to US policy and law, a comprehensive dismantling and realignment of government.
Among its biggest ideas is stacking the government with more people politically beholden to the president, consolidating his power. It also proposes mass deportations and strict immigration restrictions, turning the health and human services department into the “department of life” and infusing the federal government with anti-abortion policies, and getting rid of agencies such as the Department of Education. The project is especially opposed to LGBTQ+-friendly policies and diversity initiatives, suggesting eliminating them throughout government.
Project 2025 is not Trump’s official platform – his campaign agenda is called Agenda47 and is detailed on his campaign website. The Republican National Committee also just adopted its own platform, which overlaps with many ideas in both Agenda47 and Project 2025.
Instead, the project is an attempt at conservative consensus over how to install policies if a rightwing president wins. Beyond the manifesto, the project is also gathering names for potential political appointments and aims to assist a new president’s transition team.
Trump’s attempt to disavow the project came after the Heritage president, Kevin Roberts, commented that “we are in the process of the second American revolution, which will remain bloodless, if the left allows it to be”. Trump then said he didn’t know what Project 2025 was or who was behind it, claims that fall flat. The project’s authors and editors are stacked with former Trump officials and allies – a CNN report found that at least 140 people who worked in the Trump administration had a hand in Project 2025 – and much of the policies align with Trump’s own agenda.

What you saw at the NATO press conference is what I saw as a doctor serving on President @JoeBiden’s National Security Council: a leader unmatched in his ability to translate massive amounts of complex information into sharp policy that’s revived America‘s standing in the world.

This is not about “love” or “loyalty.”
This is about cold facts:
—the President was fully in command tonight
—there is ZERO plan for anyone else
—the voters don’t care about any of this bullshit
This is a self-inflicted wound. Stop. https://t.co/I39ELdPUBE
