The answer would have to be "occasionally".

In a realm of speculation we can but secure ourselves and attempt to reduce risk with what little knowledge we can attain. I'm quite pleased you've found the article beneficial.
The Anatomy of an OTC Reverse Merger
In our last issue, titled: “The Pre-Merger Run-up: Where you can cut yourself a piece of the profits”, we introduced readers to the reverse merger process. We briefly discussed the principle purpose to ‘shell’ stocks and where investors can capitalize on investment. In this issue we will break down the seemingly-intimidating and at-times-complicated reverse merger cycle into four (4) basic stages. This will give every investor the opportunity and knowledge to recognize these explosive trends when they appear in the market.
Stage 1: Early Bird Special
A ‘shell’ stock with little to no market activity is aroused by a jump in volume. The volume primarily originates from (i) those with ‘inside’ knowledge and (ii) savvy investors speculating that a merger may be on the horizon. During this stage, ‘accumulation’ of stock in the marketplace by one, or both of the aforementioned parties, is common. Unusual volume activity, in a given market, is a signal that favorable corporate activity may be taking place. The favorable event, relative to reverse-mergers, is that management may have found a suitor for the shell.
Stage 2: Let the games begin!

A good read regarding Reverse-Mergers:

Stage 2: Let the games begin!
For any number of reasons, management believes it is important to inform shareholders that they are diligently working towards drawing a prospective merger candidate. “Merger Candidate” is used universally at this stage to entice potential investors. Generating market activity at a preliminary stage is often required to fulfill a binding agreement or public stock offering. This stage does not necessarily exist with every reverse merger. Often, stage two (2) of the reverse merger cycle, as defined by TimelessWealth.net, is coupled with stage three (3). This stage is identified when a corporate update is issued containing the term ‘merger’ or ‘merger candidate’ or (ii) when the context of a corporate press release is suggestive of merger activity.
Stage 3: Speculation Nation
This stage may encompass Stage Two (2) of the reverse merger cycle. In this stage...continue reading: http://timelesswealth.net/penny-stock-articles/anatomy-OTC-Reverse-Merger.html

I sent out a piece on this one once those news hit the wire: http://timelesswealth.net/alerts/ocnf-oceanfreight-03182010.html
My impression is that the price has room to edge higher...have a glance at my annotated chart by following the link (above).
I believe termination to the stock offering program was a big deal...I would have a difficult time speaking well of a company involved with YA Global or any affiliated party.
OceanFreight Inc. Announces the Termination of the Standby Equity Distribution Agreement.
ATHENS, GREECE--(Marketwire - 03/18/10) - OceanFreight Inc. (NASDAQ:OCNF - News), a global provider of seaborne transportation services, announced today that it has terminated its Standby Equity Distribution Agreement (SEDA) with YA Global Master SPV Ltd., an affiliate of Yorkville Advisors LLC, pursuant to which the Company had the option to issue and sell shares worth up to $450 million. The program has been inactive since January 2010 and as of today, the Company raised approximately $99.7 million of gross proceeds and the total number of shares outstanding is 181,800,001.
Gaps tend to fill. It is not always a given characteristic of price movement.

The price appears to have broken resistance to the descending triangle that had formed in the prior three months. I would not be surprised if the price pulled back and tested that 'breakout' trendline, but it would not serve 'longs' well if the price were to pull-back or break back below it.
Quite a move indeed sir. I have my eye on another shipping stock, OceanFreight, Inc. (OCNF). Last week they terminated a stock offering program facilitated by YA Global...the stock jumped nicely on those news. In any event they raised just under $100M and the triple bottom chart pattern won't hurt them any as well.
Palm Inc. (NASDAQ: PALM) appears to be an attractive one in this class...I 'twittered' this one about 15 minutes ago: http://twitter.com/TimelessWealth
