Kinda the way hundredth of pennies are skimmed off equity trades by the HF trading bots, eh? FWIW, that doesn't happen trading options. . .

Tried everything I could find the settings for but still have same problem. Appears connected to Action Center and my trading platform's notifications, but even when I turn them off and delete Notifications altogether from the taskbar, it still will not auto hide when my trading platform is running. Any ideas? TIA
Newly
Tnx, Sidedraft. Tried that, tried everything I can think of, no go. Tnx for the idea.
Newly
Tnx, Elis. I tried that link, but it mostly refers to Win7 and the things it mentions are not labeled the same in Win10, so I couldn't do what he suggests. Tnx anyway. I'll keep trying.

Karen, I know you and Bruce did not have long together as a couple, and certainly neither of you ever anticipated how very short that time would be. I think Bruce was so very fortunate to have you by his side during all this. I can't imagine how much worse it would have been for him without you there. I know how very hard it is to be the one left behind, but know that God has a plan in your life and never gives you a burden greater than what you can bear. Best wishes. . .

Unfortunately we are dealing with the Nature of Man, whether innately good or evil. We cannot change it so we have to learn to live with it, and as you say, each must do what he/she can to make things better, not worse!
Newly
I hear ya, nanopatent. Frustrating, but it is what it is and I make a point of worrying about only those things I can do something to change. To Hell with the rest. . . And, despite all the corruption, we in this country still have a pretty wonderful standard of living compared to most of the world. Until that changes, I'm just too fat and lazy (figuratively speaking) to bother to get my panties all in a bunch about it!
Newly
I am having a problem with the taskbar in Win10 not auto hiding. In properties Auto Hide is checked, but the taskbar just sits there at the bottom of the page obscuring whatever I'm trying to read. Help! TIA

Yes, we all appreciate your efforts in representing all Bruce's iHub friends during your visit to his bedside. Wish I could be at his funeral, but I am a continent away. He is missed by all here who knew him. . .

Good to know. Tnx.

Oh, that is so very sad, but at least all his suffering is behind him now and he can rest in peace. He was a nice man. I liked him. I am so very sorry he is gone, but trust that on this day, as Jesus did before him, he will rise up to everlasting glory in his Father's house. . .

Seems MS is following Apple on that issue as well. One does not get a word processing program with a new Win10 computer, either, just the option to buy their Word program. I just spent half a day getting my old, OLD WordPerfect10 32 bit set up on my new Win10 Pro 64 bit machine. Learned a lot, haha.
Newly
Keep in mind that MS was the dominant OS for a long, long time, and many programs are written solely for that OS (like my trading platform, for example). I think it was clever of Apple to offer a virtual windows or a dual OS so their users can take advantage of programs not written in a Mac version. Of course, as Apple grows and MS shrinks, that will no doubt change. . .
Newly
Yes, I here all good things about Macs and am seriously considering the move over to one. I still run XP Pro on both my laptop and my Terminator (Bruce Thompson's design, my build), but I bought this el cheapo ThinkPad to give Win10 a try before I made the decision. I'm moving soon, so it will have to wait until after that. I don't care about Win10 one way or another as far as the interface goes, but I will never use the backup to the MS cloud and don't like the fact that they control my rig and not me. . .
Newly
Yes, I considered using a different program but all my documents for years now were created in WP and I wasn't sure if they could be transferred to a different program, plus over the years I have found that most computer problems can be solved if one just keeps trying!
I will say one thing -- unlike most people I really enjoy computer problems (even though they are frustrating) because there is such a satisfaction when one prevails plus I always learn something new. Win10 is all new to me at this point and I'm still just learning how to get around in it and find things like Task Manager, Services, Startup, etc. I did a lot of getting around Win10 with this problem, so I really learned a lot.
Next I need to find out where Developer Options are so I can set this ThinkPad up to tether to my phone for data when I'm on-the-road next week. Here at home I have a wireless router. . .
Thanks again for your help.
Newly
I believe MS is shooting themselves in the foot with forcing Win10 on everyone. I understand MS is doing this to compete with Apple in having all devices 'talk' to each other (tablets, PCs, phones) which was not practical until Win10. A big miscalculation, IMO, since no one likes the MS phone or their Surface tablet nor being forced into Win10. Instead of increasing their ability to compete with what Apple offers, they are causing users such as myself to seriously consider moving to a Mac. Have you seen their latest TV ads showing an artist using Win10 and stating he could not do this on his Mac? Duh. . .who cares (except a professional artist maybe).
Newly
Thanks for your help Elis. I seem to have solved the problem. Kept fooling around in Properties and Settings and realized that the program didn't actually freeze when I tried to save a doc, it just endlessly cycled. I discovered that a Windows function splwow64.exe which controls 64 and 32 bit printing sometimes hangs and WP10 was simply waiting for that to clear. So, I went in and stopped all running instances of it (only one). I also went into WP Properties and unchecked both Run in Compatibility Mode and Run as Admin (other suggestions I had tried without success). Then in WP I went into Tools-Settings-Files and unchecked Use Enhanced File Dialogue (which you originally suggested).
Voila! WP10 now running perfectly, both saving and printing docs without a problem. Thanks for your help, Elis. All's well that ends well. . .
Newly
PS Happy Easter Sunday. Xristos Anesti (Christ is Risen) Alithos Anesti (Truly He is risen)
Thanks ElisComing. I'm actually running WP10, but I was able to find and uncheck "Use Enhanced File dialogs" and that allowed me to save the document, but right afterwards the program freezes again and I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del to close it out. Same happens when I go to the document and try to open it -- program freezes. So now I can see the file is saved but I cannot reopen it anyway.
Any thoughts?
Newly
Can a 32 bit program be run on a 64 bit machine running Win10? I'm getting my Word Perfect to work perfectly until it comes to saving a file when it freezes and will not close nor save the document nor do anything else. I can, however, send the file directly to the printer with no problem so long as I don't try to save it first.
I've fooled with all the settings I can find, running this program as Administrator in Compatibility mode with WinXP SP3. Everything seems to work except the Save the document feature. Any ideas anyone? TIA

I'll leave the last word to you. I think we actually agree here more than we disagree, it is merely our methods of skinning the cat that vary. Thank you for an enjoyable discussion.

By "unexpected bad news" I was referring to the following:
Jan 6, 2016 - Wearable maker Fitbit was hit with a class-action lawsuit yesterday, just after the unveiling of its newest fitness watch.
If you look at the price history or a price chart you can clearly see that the current downturn began Jan 5, 2016. Certainly price had been drifting lower from the the date of the IPO last June, but price had been consolidating and fairly stable from August to January. With less than a year of data, it is difficult to get a good technical reading on price but I didn't buy the stock because of the chart, I bought it because I believed in their product.
Anyone can look at a wiggly line and "See Something." that is precisely why most traders fail. Just as with FA, mastering TA takes a lot of time and effort, not to mention aptitude.
Newly
Well, as I said, we are all different and what works for one person will not necessarily work for another. I couldn't do what Buffet does and no doubt he couldn't make money using my system either! There are a myriad of ways to skin a cat. Learning to trade means finding what work for each of us individually.
All I can do is state my personal experience, and that is that over the years since I learned chart-reading I have made money. IMO most newbie traders fail because they never put in the time or effort to master TA and develop and trade a system tailored to their own personality and style of trading. I very nearly didn't survive the learning curve -- I actually lost $64,000 learning to trade simply due to my own arrogance in believing I knew what I was doing when I really knew little or nothing about how to trade successfully. That was the wake-up call that caused me to realize that if I was to survive as a trader I had to learn to do it better. And I did. . .
Newly
I would agree that using black box or technical systems designed by anyone other than oneself will not consistently yield profits just as coat-tailing someone else's trades doesn't work. Only the tactics and strategies each trader develops themselves will work for them. Why? Because we are all very different people.
That said, I disagree that TA is nonsense. I am a technical options daytrader, and only occasionally put on a longer-term position in my IRA as I did with FIT. I trade mainly SPY options in order to avoid the very situation I encountered with FIT, where unanticipated bad news caused an unexpected price drop. Losses are, however, a normal part of trading and can never be eliminated altogether. The trick is to dump the losing position while the loss is still small.
IMO daytrading without a system based upon technical indicators (the ones that 'speak' to the individual trader and this will vary widely from person to person) is like taking a road trip without a map. I'm not a gambler, and at least for me, technical analysis and chart-reading give me an edge in choosing entries and exits that I could not trade successfully without.
All JMO, of course. Your mileage may vary. . .
Newly
PS Just to put this in perspective, I have been in the markets since 1986, and daytrading since 1998.
I, too, have the Charge HR and love it! Great motivator! I liked the device so well I bought the stock. . .unfortunately right before the price drop, LOL.
Newly
PS If you buy the Blaze, please let me know what you think of it as compared to the Charge HR. TIA
Why would anyone buy anything Apple

How kind of you to visit Bruce, golf nut. So sad. I can't even begin to imagine what Bruce and Karen have been going through. Dreadful, just dreadful. Words fail me. . .
Newly
Well, I guess it is up to Walk whether he wants to pursue the Mac or not. He asked for opinions, I gave him mine, you gave him yours. Now the decision is his to make. . .
Newly
Oh, and BTW, my friend had a tech guy set up her docking station since she isn't very computer literate either, so now all she has to do is plug her tiny laptop in and turn it on. Easy peasy.
One needn't buy a rig with the largest screen -- if one uses a docking station one can buy the smallest rig. I use a TV as my screen, connected to my laptop through a docking station and it works great.
Newly
No. I need to visit an Apple store (we have one nearby) and check it all out. A friend has a really nice, small Apple laptop which she connects to a docking station when she is at home. She loves it, and I'm impressed with it, too. My biggest problem is that my trading program won't run on a Mac, but I recently discovered that one can trade it online instead of running the program on one's computer, and, anyway, I can run it on the ThinkPad I bought, so I'm no longer concerned about that aspect. One thing I hear over and over from Mac users is that they don't have the freezes and crashes one gets with MS.
Newly
I think that machine has a Chrome OS (Google). Don't know what that is, but I don't believe it has anything to do with MS. That said, I agree with you, a Mac is the way to go. I've also been considering the shift over to a Mac despite the higher costs involved and from everything I've heard from others who switched recently to avoid Win10, the Mac is a wonderful alternative. I did recently buy a cheap ThinkPad running Win10 so I could see what it is all about. Not impressed. . . My next rig will be a Mac!
Newly
I think most of the long-time posters here came AND STAYED because they were disillusioned with the nonsense experienced on other sites like Yahoo! and RB. Specifically, the fact that iHub boards are moderated and the TOU enforced is what attracts and keeps your subs on the site IMO. I would urge caution in changing that dynamic or unintended consequences could eventuate to everyone's detriment.
As to off-topic or personal attack, IMO posts that are neither incendiary nor likely to escalate a disagreement into a full-blown quarrel are innocuous and should not be deleted; those that are insulting or likely to exaserbate a minor disagreement into a violent exchange should!
Newly
Actually I think it would be a good idea to allow all Mods (freebies and subs) to PM a poster whose post they just deleted. This could be well controlled by simply allowing the Mod only to choose from a set number of precomposed msgs such as:
Please refrain from personal attacks on other posters or your posts will be deleted.
Spamming is not allowed on stock specific boards.
Vulgarity is unacceptable on these boards.
Posts should be about the company and/or its stock and not about other users.
etc.
This way a freebie Mod would not be able to use the PM privileges for their own purposes, but only to point out the error of their ways to those who violate the TOU. Just a thought. . .
Newly
If the problem turns out to be the monitor and you want to continue to use this computer, just get a docking station and plug a working monitor into it.
Newly
Tnx. That, and PMs I've received reinforce my opinion that MS is committing harikari with Win10 and are convincing me to jump ship to a Mac, too.
Newly
Thanks, Dan. Now I get it. MS is playing catch up with their Apple rival who got it right to begin with. It could be a costly gamble. Per a quote from one of those links:
Windows licenses account for nearly one-third of Microsoft's total revenue. If the company is unable to build momentum behind Windows 10, rejuvenate the PC market, and stop the platform shift to Mac, it's going to hurt one of its biggest cash cows.
Neither the MS phone nor the MS Surface tablet has been a big success so far compared to Apple's products, and MS seems to be universally hated. Forcing Win10 on current PC users combined with the reduction in the PC owner's control of the OS as well as many users' aversion to The Cloud storage and privacy concerns with Win10 will, IMO, further alienate current MS users (such as myself) and cause exactly the adverse reaction to that which MS is trying to achieve -- it will drive more users to finally make the switch to Apple products across the board (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.). I am seriously considering such a switch.
I certainly wouldn't be a buyer of MS stock at this point, LOL.
Newly
Hi, Dan. I'm confused. Why is MS giving away Win10 and forcing it upon everyone they can? How do they make money giving away this OS?
Newly
Bruce was so very lucky to have found Karen and married her when he did, which was only a couple of years ago -- they were only married a short time when all this began, but how much better off he is with someone who loves him by his side through this horrible time instead of having to go it alone as a bachelor. Poor Bruce, poor Karen, but one must always try to remember that God does not give us burdens greater than what we can bear and He will give Karen and Bruce the strength to deal with whatever the future holds. . .
Love and Prayers to both. . .
Newly
Hi, Dan. Well, MS does stop supporting older OS's when they feel like it, so I think they have another reason, whatever that may be. They were never so aggressive when introducing other new OS's in the past. Wonder what has changed. . .
BTW, I now have Win10 to play with on that little Thinkpad I bought, and it seems ok, easy to learn and use. I'm also not sure why everyone is up in arms against Win10 but maybe because with Win10, one loses control over one's own computer and one's information to a greater extent than with other OS's.
