Urban Barns' mandate is to supply any community, irrespective of the regional climate, in any season, with locally grown, fresh, safe and vitamin packed green leaf vegetables. By setting up subsidiary facilities and growing locally, shipping times and related spoilage are minimized, allowing Urban Barns to keep prices at market value, we supply premium product without the premium price tag. Urban Barns has the unique ability to scale the volume of our production and cater to the demands of all major communities. Most produce on a supermarket shelf is grown thousands of miles away from the eventual consumer, where the climate is more suitable or the season is right, which means it must be shipped over long distances before it gets to the consumers who finally eat it. Much of the quality is lost over the course of these long trips. Urban Barns grows right in the communities of the final consumers so that our crops are on the shelves within hours, not days. In doing so, we plan to introduce the public to a sustained level of freshness that they have never experienced before.

Urban Barns Foods grows Green Leafy Vegetables in secure, safe, and controlled environments in commercial quantities, with minimal water requirements, creating green leafy vegetables that are superior in nutrients while significantly eliminating CO2 emissions, fungicides, pesticides and insecticides. Our aim is to expand and build Urban Barns throughoutNorth America and the World through a strategic plan of managed and sustainable growth, eventually providing global access to our superior products.

Urban Barns Foods Announces Grand Opening
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan 09, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Urban Barns Foods Inc. (URBF.QB) ("Company" or " Urban Barns "), a leading authority on Cubic Farming for fresh green leafy vegetables, announced today it has moved into full commercial production in its Langley R & D facility using the revolutionary CUBIC FARMING agriculture method.
Mr. Meikleham, Chairman and CFO, stated, "On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce we have set January 17 2013 as our official launch date of the first Cubic Agriculture growing facilities in the world. Cubic agriculture is our innovative sustainable agricultural growing practice that can locally produce commercial volumes of green leafy vegetables in urban locations under any climate conditions.

Urban Barns in Discussions With International Hospitality Provider
LANGLEY, British Columbia, Jan 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) -- URBAN BARNS FOODS INC. (URBF.QB) ("the Company" or "URBAN BARNS"), today announced high level visitations to the growing facility to discuss nutritional values and production capacity.
Recently we announced our Langley, British Columbia location was put into full swing to grow Boston Butter Lettuce, Spinach, Basil, Cilantro, various herbs, and various varieties that constitute Spring Mix. Potential key customers visited the farm to observe our first commercial crop.
Topics discussed included the nutritional value of the plants grown using our Cubic Growing system with additional focuses on custom production of lettuce to be grown in bulk for high end hospitality banquets and unique varieties to feature on restaurant menus.
Richard Groome, President of Urban Barns Foods Canada said "We have now entered into advanced discussions to utilize our entire capacity for one food and beverage hospitality chain."
