This is a great merger not only because it will become the third largest lithium producer with great diversification of resources and products, but also because it is a natural full of synergies. They have brine resources next to each other in Argentina, the same in Quebec (just a bit farther), similar goals of vertical integration, and they can share expertise (LTHM in hydroxide and DLE; OROCF in spodumene, and both in carbonate). I think that the 54% OROCF 46% LTHM deal perhaps should have been 60%-40% or even a bit more favorable to OROCF, but LTHM provides great intangibles like entry to the NYSE, access to the Biden’s credits, better international commercialization and excellent expertise in hydroxide and DLE. The one thing they must do is to keep growing quickly while managing funds wisely. They need to execute efficiently in Canada, Argentina and even Australia, where they should purchase new resources for the future since Mt. Catlin may not last more than a few years.
I am invested in several lithium companies, I am frankly surprised that OROCF does not get much attention in USA and Canada. I think this will change soon.

All good choices. There is always risk, which are mainly geopolitical, but there is lots of momentum and I think the sector will remain very strong for 3-5 years and possibly much longer. Thank you and best of luck with your investments
CXOXF looks well positioned for growth. Also, CMP, it's ongoing profitable Salt products division will support it;s new DE Li project; the best of both world, product diversity and a new Li project in the USA. I own both in addition to PILBF, OROCF, LAC, GSCCF.
An interesting product/industry with a lot of potential but also a lot of potential risk, as most commodities have substantial risk/reward. Research and understanding your personal risk tolerance are imperative.
Yes TC. I have lots of OROCF and SYAXF, and good positions in LAC, LTHM and SQM. I also have a bit of ELBM and hydrogen in the green sectors and I have been thinking about NNOMF and perhaps a smallish lithium miner in Australia. I wish I had Pilbara, which I believe you have. I redistribute occasionally. Please let me know if you have other companies you like.
Thanks
tikotiko, are you still in this one?
I came accross this ticker today. I thought it was familiar.
But I do not remember much.

The trifecta is here! Great pair of updates today about accelerated expansion and upgraded resources in Argentina, plus another nice announcement last week regarding increasing prices. The stock is finally reacting and there could be another big jump tomorrow or soon if the Strategy Meeting to be held this afternoon goes well.

My other lithium stocks may have potential for more growth multiples, but Alkem is the best one in terms of resources and being fully derisked. In my opinion, it is the best Junior producer along with PLS in terms of being top 5. I think that its MC will be similar to those of bigger fish like ALB, SQM and Gangfeng in a few years ($20B, $30B or even more). Sayona and LAC should also get there and probably have even more growth potential, but Alkem has a head start at present with over $0.5B in cash, which could be increasing by over $1B/yr at the current prices. This is enough money to pay for their new projects in Argentina, Canada, Japan and Australia.
LONG OROCF!
Yes, luck and much patience, thanks!
Nice presentation. Best o' luck with Allkem Ltd., OROCF!!

There will be turbulence ahead for sure, but I love the deal with close to $0.5B in cash to avoid dilution, and projects in Australia, Canada, Argentina and Japan. In addition, they are profitable again thanks to the recent jump in lithium prices, which now favors producers over explorers. The key will still be execution, but both CEOs are much better than their predecessors. I feel more confident with this than in the company we shared ( or shared. ).

Uplifting in US coming soon.....?

Orocobre is brine only. It is expanding to a phase 2 similar in size to LAC’s. It will also have a converter to high purity in Japan, which should be in operation later this year. These plus the backing of Toyota makes it a safe bet.
Galaxy produces spodumene in Australia, will produce brine in Argentina. Its aquifer has better chemical quality than LAC’s and OROCF’s, which are already good. The plan for development was released yesterday. I think it is excellent and it is worth a read (no need for major funding or partners at least in first stage, and it will produce battery grade at low cost thanks to the superior chemist Rudy and tech. Innovation). Finally, Galaxy has a huge spodumene mine in James Bay, Canada. It sound like your Sigma, because the spodumene is right at the surface with no overburden for cheap costs since it is shallow. This project will come in a few years after Argentina, but it could work well with North American lithium needs by the automotive industry. My hunch is that Galaxy will build a high purity converter for it or may buy one (e.g., NAL or NMKEF).
Your Sigma in Brazil looks interesting.
I sense that the higher lithium prices are going to favor existing producers, but having explorers is never a bad idea.
Cheers!
PS Did you sell all your LAC shares?
Awesome eh - good to see - So what're they in again ? Spodumene ? Hope so.

Looks like my lithium producers (OROCF and GALXF) are catching up with our non-producer(s). It may be due to improving prices, but we are still a long ways from prices 2-3 years ago.
I am happy that I added a few shares yesterday below $4!
The stock is a bit sideways today, but has been excellent recently. I only regret that I did not buy more shares a few months ago. I keep waiting for a dip to add. Quarterly report in coming in a few days.
Good luck!
OROCF is one of many lithium companies doing well. The $4s are within sight!
Hey buddy! Yes, I remain loyal to Orocobre, LAC and GALXF in the lithium sector. I think that these 3 juniors will do well and are in more solid ground than others. They are my 3 horses in lithium.
Orocobre’s stage 2 brine project has suffered delays due to COVID19, but it will eventually more than double current capacity. They are in a similar schedule as LAC. I am also excited about its Japan processing plant to refine material to higher carbonate and hydroxide quality, and its recent buying of Advantage Lithium provides an additional resource for many years in Argentina next to LAC/Ganfeng. Finally, the company has benefitted from the new CEO and from Toyota.
Galaxy has Mt. Catlin producing spodumene in Australia, a brine project in Argentina at pilot stage with better quality than LAC or OROCF (less impurities and better composition), and a large rock project in Canada. It has also benefitted from a change in CEO, who is more focused than the one before.
You know plenty about LAC....
I think all 3 will be winners, but I remain cautious due to the typical risks (Argentina’s situation, lithium prices, poor management decisions, etc.).
BTW I am still in hydrogen (PLUG), small pharma (CYDY, RLFTF and SGMO) and MJ (APHA, TCNNF and LHSIF). Most are doing very well, but they are risky....
Happy holidays!
Just thought to check in here and ha - lo and behold....
Nice to here that you've been hanging tough - Wish you'd've made me do the same
January 2020 - Pre-Covid 19
So that WAREN'T a Triple Bottom !.......Covid-19 was the low !
Tokyo - November 8th 2019 - 5 months Pre-Pandemic
April 24th 2020......And SEE where the Pandemic struck ?.....Precisely were I forecast
Orocobre 10 months following the March Covid low.....
So $1.00 was the Covid Low.......and BOY was it chart-based !
Still have my shares and happy...
I bought a batch at $1.7. It was a larger batch than my previous one, so my average of the 2 buys is in the $1.8s. I will buy an even larger parcel if the share price gets around the $1.5s.
PS watching LAC closely...
No major surprises with half year report:
https://www.orocobre.com/wp/?mdocs-file=7091
Opportunity to buy a few more coming?
Orocobre buying Advantage Lithium, next to LAC/Ganfeng:
https://www.orocobre.com/wp/?mdocs-file=7054
A good move by Orocobre by buying when it is cheap. This is proof of more consolidation occurring in the sector, but I like this one better because it is buying a great resource when prices are low. I don’t care how the market reacts short term to Orocobre’s news, but I don’t care much as I see this as a great long term move.
I still plan to buy more shares before and/or after this Friday, when the half-year report will be announced, which is expected to be week in sales/profits but positive in progress for stage 2, Nahara and Advantage acquisition. I am hoping for an extra dip....
I bought a few shares last week in the low $2s. However, I did not get to replace all the shares I had sold in the high $2s. I was hoping to buy a second batch below $2. I think the SP could have reached the $1.9s, but it didn’t due to the Tesla news. I still think that there will be another dip for me to buy the remaining shares, because Tesla should experience a correction at some point.
Very nice charts, thanks! Getting wallet ready...
PS Liberty reports today. It is expected to be an excellent quarter, but I have not seen it yet. Check its forum for possible updates.
Thank you so much ! I may look into that CR....
Last I/we looked at OROCF was back on Jan 15th
Update
Would appear as tho a pullback is still in progress so yer OROCF targets would appear to be well-founded !
Good eye and,
Thanks again for the heads up !
How'd yer Liberty Health there do today ?.....Wo - Not too shabby eh ?.....Man what a play !
You are all OVER that !
Hey NW2, you may want to take a look at the latest quarterly report that was released today.
https://www.orocobre.com/wp/?mdocs-file=6933
It is very similar to what I had predicted: good progress in Argentina and Japan, ok production and positive earnings margin, but the margins are lower due to reduced sale prices. I think that the market has already factored in these expected news, but I think we may see an extra drop. It just opened
slightly green in Australia but it is a long day. Volume is high, which tells me that a lot of people are thinking like me. I will be ready to buy more in the next few days but don’t want to rush. I now aim to buy some below $2 and some above to average. You may want to revisit it with your charts in the next few days.
As I have said before, I intend to keep this one long term as well as the other one we share. it is one of the lowest cost brine producers with the advantage of a converter in Japan, nice expansion, partnership with smaller Advantage Lithium next to LAC, no debt and protection by Toyota. I think its revenues and profits will skyrocket if its new projects coincide with higher prices and demand for lithium in the near future. I think they will. I see Orocobre as one of the safest bets among juniors and lots of upside albeit a couple others may have even more upside but also be riskier. I like mixing them a bit.
I am waiting for this to get to the $2.2 or $2.3 before I rebuy the shares I sold at a profit. My hope is to buy one batch at those levels. I would then hope to buy a second one at $2 or below as a result of what I expect to be a so-so quarterly report. This second part may be trickier because even though revenues will probably suck, the good progress in Stage 2 and Japan’s converter may help the SP. Based on my luck, it will probably be Opposite Day of whatever I do. However, I feel good that I took some profits recently, while I kept a good amount of shares.
Agree.
I think that you may be right that it may not go much lower than $2.3 or $2.2, and I would be quite happy I could buy back at those levels. Heck, I could buy back now and it would be ok based on my move yesterday. I am going o keep a close eye on it.
The other factor is the quarterly report, which should come in 1-2 weeks. My gut tells me that it will be negative due to the lower sale prices, but the major progress in Stage 2 and in a Japan may turn it positive. I was going to wait until then to buy my next batch. However, my decision to sell some yesterday for a nice profit (over 40%) puts me in a bit of a dilema on how to buy my shares again. My hope and probably safer bet may be to buy in the next few days if it drops to say $2.3 and buy more after the quarterly announcement.
Please feel free to pop your head here occasionally and so is 909....
Did ya' ?.....That's awesome - LoL
Wow that LAC HASN'T joined in on the "party" (sell off)
Makes me think that you're right (that they're insulated from spot-swings)....
Am just assuming that this is all spot-price-related
ALB is up as well today ?
You've probably got a much better sector watch-list than I
So this rally has gotten them up to 3.50 and now they're at 3.24 ?
Yeah I suspect that you're probably on the right track with your thinking.....altho not quite as deep as you're thinkin'
Sold a nice chunk today pre-market at $2.6 before it retraced to to $2.4s in a sector-wide correction. I am hoping to buy them back in the low $2s because I expect a larger correction after such a nice run. We will see if it gets that low. A chart specialist may help here, hint....
Still don’t know what to make about this?
It is up another 9% in Australia today on decent volume, and almost 50% during the last month. I am still expecting a healthy retrace soon, which may give me a chance to buy what may be my last batch.
Likewise buddy!
Well I believe U know an awful lot (a heck of a lot more than I)
Why you've performed actual research myte !
Thanks for that info and take on things tiko
