“We are getting approval from Italy?” I thought Laurent wasn’t sure? Isn’t the jury still out?
Okay thanks N7. On another topic, I work at a Nuke Plant. These are “Baseload” Units, run 24/7 for 18 months. Without our country’s Nuclear Fleet, we would be in serious trouble.
With the coming of AI, there will be increased demand for electricity to run these Data Centers. Microsoft is apparently working a deal with Three Mile Island to purchase all the power produced at the station. Electric Utilities are a great investment going forward. Not only will you get a dividend, but you’ll get share price appreciation. Artificial intelligence (AI) is also the coming thing.
Here’s hoping that Amarin secures Italy. If they can do that, then France would follow suit. Can someone explain to me why Bempedoic acid + Ezetimibe has such a high acceptance rate? GLTA
Apparently, there was a 24M share exchange at 4PM yesterday. It moved the share price .12 cents.
Brokerage exchange maybe? Hey Ralph, I want in on Lumen, you got any shares you can sell me? “I’ll pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.”
Electric utilities is a great opportunity to not only get dividends but also increase the stock price.
Any word on Italy reimbursement? TIA
N7; What is the gist of this article? The other thing that amazes me is where do these drug companies come up with these names? Dang, so many drugs, the naming of which must be “mind boggling?”
Ram; I didn’t watch the game. Good for the Cards. Marvin Harrison was quite a good draft choice.
I don’t have cable or antenna. I didn’t want to pay for FUBOTV or Sunday Ticket. Very disappointed with streaming TV.
Besides I’m pretty busy around my place. Grape harvest is done. Wine is fermenting nicely…. :D)
When Aaron Donald retired, it seemed LA hasn’t been the same since. They’ll be back.
Yeah, Gregory Williams of TD Cowen doesn't understand the workings of an Industrial Revolution. Probably too busy playing video games.
All one has to do is look at the US Highway system to understand the scope of AI. Without Toll roads, we wouldn't have the system of highways we have today. Taxes can't pay for everything. Think of AI as the "Super" Transport system for just about everything. The fiber in the ground is the Highway, everyone and I mean everyone, every person on this planet is going to be using AI in some fashion. It will effect everything; commerce, driving cars, TV, Gaming, advertising, food, energy on and on. Whatever involves a computer; laptops, cell phones, desk tops, robotics, aviation, railroads, shipping will all be depending on large Data Centers to do the Trillions of computations needed to keep things running smoothly. The amount of money (tolls) that Lumen could amass could be astronomical.
Of course the Hackers will try to disrupt things, but that will always be a struggle between good and evil.
Greg Williams says "it won't move the needle much?" Really?
This analogy kind of reminds me of the Bank employee who had programmed the banks computer system into taking miniscule amounts of money (rounding the interest on savings accounts) and depositing these small amounts of $$interest into his own account. They had amassed a huge amount of money. I don't remember how they were caught.
https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdmo/pr/former-bank-employee-pleads-guilty-24-million-embezzlement-scheme
Keen; Good post thanks for sharing. I watched it. The reporter was trying to pin Huang down about the upcoming election. Good for Huang, he didn't give her any fuel either way. He is right about the upcoming Industrial Revolution in the Internet. People better get on board, it's everywhere.
ORB; too funny. However I disagree with your logic. Remember the financial meltdown of 2008? Lehman Brothers etc.
I owned shares of AIG which I’d bought for roughly $1 per share. They did a 1:20 reverse split June 30, 2009. AIG has subsequently recovered nicely and is trading at $71.91. Being a novice investor I sold my shares.
I don’t disagree with you, personally I don’t like reverse splits. Terrible Idea. Not as bad as bankruptcy however.
Verizon Deal does an all cash deal for Frontier (FYBR) @ $20B;
https://finance.yahoo.com/video/verizon-buy-frontier-communications-20b-134201303.html
Frontier has 249M shares OS, so, my question is why is the share price @ $35 range? I calced $80 per share?
Interesting link showing Lumens Network Maps across the world. There's a cool dropdown feature as well;
https://www.lumen.com/en-us/resources/network-maps.html
Wouldn't a Big company like Amazon or Microsoft love to get their hands on Lumens Network?
Kate isn't about to sell this Gem!!
Conversely; Wouldn’t it be great to learn who the other 90% of Dow Cornings fiber customers are?
As for the FTTH (fiber to the home) customers, it would appear that ATT and VZ are concentrating their efforts in this arena. Leaving the Data Centers (AI) wide open for competition. This will be Lumens forte’. This I believe is Kate Johnson’s master plan. Build the railroads, superhighways, shipping lanes. Leaving the FTTH space (the last mile) to those willing to slug it out with ATT and VZ.
When speaking about fiber optic buildouts, you have to ask yourself the following questions;
1. Who’s contracting 10% of Dow Cornings fiber optic manufacturing for the next 2 years? A huge infrastructure upgrade.
2. Who has sold a large portion of its internet service in order to pay off debt and concentrate on the larger network providers?
3. Whose mantra is it that says we will be changing the internet forever?
The Barrons article although enlightening, has not really given credibility to Kate Johnson and the “Turnaround” strategy.
The article has given a boost to today’s stock price no doubt.
IMHO Kate Johnson is not the type of CEO to take a $14.50 buyout offer from anyone. The fiber optic infrastructure is much too valuable. LUMN has approximately 1B shares outstanding. $14.50 would equate to $14-15B buyout offer. Lumens network is much more valuable than that for the future of the internet and AI.
$50B would be a more suitable offer. Think of Lumen as the Will Rogers Turnpike. I remember as kids driving to Chicago and paying a toll on one of Americas first toll roads. Then there’s the Turner Turnpike. Now there’s toll roads all over the country making lots of $$$. This is Lumens strategy and it’s a great idea.
Good luck to all,
Siemens AG stock traded on OTCMKT: SIEGY. Siemens/Xelerator supply cooling systems for Data Centers.
(OT), “You’re not taking my watch mfer”This past Friday Ricky Pearsall 1st Round draft pick for the 49ers was shot during a robbery attempt after an appearance in San Francisco. The assailant attempted to rob Mr Pearsall of his gold Rolex watch. During the ensuing scuffle Mr Pearsall was shot in the arm. The assailant didn’t fair so well. The assailant was shot in the chest. Mr Pearsall was in stable condition. The assailant was stable also, “too bad” over a watch?
North, I agree with you on my own experience with Vascepa. Not only did Vascepa lower my Total Cholesterol level by 1/2 without a statin. I believe Vascepa has done some really remarkable things to my physiology. I’ll be 73 in December, there’s family history of arthritis, dementia, some CVD issues. I don’t have any of those symptoms. I eat what I want. I have a great sex life without the little blue pill!
I seem to have plenty of energy, although I like taking my naps during the day. I work on my place in the morning before it gets too hot and then towards evening I go back outside and work some more. I know I have more energy than most men my age. Mainly because if you’re not in pain or are experiencing other debilitating symptoms then staying busy is the key for good health. I rarely watch TV, although I enjoy YouTube videos on subjects that interest me. Keep it up 👍 (no pun intended)!
North: On Your AI list you forgot to list Lumen,(LUMN), Palantir (PLTR). AI might even be a predictor of future events, like drought, pestilence, the Nile turns RED, Locusts, frogs, and last of all the Angel of Death. "Let my People Go!"
Feeling Great! been religiously taking my Vascepa daily, I'm definitely not feeling my age.
Take care
Okay me bad, I apologize, I thought you were talking about Casa Grande.
Lucid isn't building any vehicles in Saudi Arabia (KAEC) King Abdullah Economic City, only subassemblies. Eventually and yes this location is on the Sea. Great place to ship vehicles all over the world.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Abdullah_Economic_City
The one problem I see with building a factory in Saudi Arabia producing EVs is the talent and work ethic? Hopefully I'm wrong, as Peter Rawlinson may see something I don't? It could be too that the Saudi Government wants their people to work for a living rather than be given everything? Big Oil $$$ has influenced their lifestyles. people can change if given the right incentives.
Hi TucsonPhil,
How does a place like Casa Grande make for a good shipping point to European Markets? It's like saying Missoula, Montana is a good shipping point to European markets? I'm a native Arizonan and a fan of Lucid as I own shares, but I don't understand your point?
Don't get me wrong, I like Casa Grande and Lucid being in our state. Casa Grande has one railroad line and I-10 unless you know of something else? Magic carpet maybe? Inland waterway?
How do the cars get shipped economically? It has to be by Rail or Truck. Shipping by sea directly saves money. Maybe that's why Detroit besides being close to steel mills and the Great Lakes shipping is still in business, besides of course having plenty of skilled labor.
I ask the question? Why Casa Grande, AZ? I would venture to guess that land prices to build Lucid's factory had a lot to do with it? Plus, Casa Grande is between two large metropolitan areas with two major Universities nearby? UofA and ASU both have Engineering Colleges, however;
"ASU's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering is the largest and most comprehensive engineering program in the United States."According to the following;
https://www.google.com/search?q=compare+asu+engineering+to+university+of+arizona+engineering&oq=Compare+ASU+engineering+to+University&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgBECEYoAEyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRigAdIBCjI1NDE5ajBqMTWoAgiwAgE&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
So, two biggies; Land and Talent. Other factors are; Cheap labor, housing and food availability. Think about setting up a factory in Los Angeles California? If the "Red tape"doesn't kill your project, finding a dependable labor force, a decent place to raise a family, affordable housing, dedicated work force and not losing your employees to a competitive job market would surely doom you. Why do you think Elon Musk moved to Texas from California?
Barron's article: DJ Update: Tesla Stock Drops. Four Things That Might Be Moving Shares. -- Barrons.com
"This content was created by Barron's"..... Might & Created two buzz words that say "here's what we think" don't you agree? Even though I don't mind the publicity "Lucid taking the mantle from Tesla." What I really detest about the liberal media is they manufacture lies and try and tell you it's the truth. It's like watching Jim Cramer, if you didn't know any better, most people think his opinion matters?
The Saudi net worth is $1.4Trillion, Volkswagens net worth is $55.24Billion.
Who has the deepest pockets?
Who answers to BOD and Shareholders?
Who’s going to win the battle for market share?
Lucid does have a lot of shares OS
They make a beautiful car “Air”
I saw one in Phoenix, it definitely caught my eye.
North; Oh to be in your shoes my man! Good job!!! As Hancock (Will Smith) would say. Doesn't appear you'll be needing anymore advice from me.... :D)
RMB; Yeah, I'm not invested in FCEL. I just have 3 Stocks, AMRN, LUMN & AEMD. The last one really doesn't account for much. The other two, well Lumen you heard about the Artificial Intelligence Craze and it's going to get crazier. Amarin is a Dark Horse, someday we're going to wake and we'll have some great news.
I do have something for North; Hats off to you North for keeping yourself in shape and watching your sugar intake. The other tidbit I have is about your RMD. First; at your age shouldn't you be enjoying the fruits of your labors? I guess screw the taxes, go have some fun. Second; I did some short term trading in my IRA, I made a few bucks and repurchased the same number of shares in my account. I paid my taxes and banked a little profit. I noticed in my brokerage account that my RMD was already satisfied and this latest trade actually registered as a (-$Dollar amount) so, in essence my withdrawal today is credited towards my annual RMD. Your example was that you withdrew your RMD from your account and put it in a Joint account, thereby keeping your account value the same? Eventually however, someone is going to have to pay the taxes on the withdrawals correct? Either your wife or your children?
My wife has a phrase she uses to explain saving money until your too old to spend it; she says; "You won't see a Brinks truck following a Hearse." That's why I bought a Ford F250 6.7L Turbo Diesel to haul my cash up to the Pearly Gates. I'm going to have to bribe my way into heaven.
Life is busy, tell me about it. I understand your frustration.
I'm going back to work full-time for my USTA place. I thought I could retire easily when Amarin hit $12 that morning in 2018. My bad, I held and bought more as the knife fell. My fault really. I still believe in the value of the "One Trick Pony." Just hanging on like most here seeing what happens at the end of the movie.
FCEL has been very frustrating. I guess Fuel Cells aren't as attractive as Batteries. Even though Fuel Cells are more environmentally friendly. Sometimes the best products for mankind often get overlooked.
GLTY
Jeffree; Apologies, when I saw you over on the Yahoo board I assumed that was the only board you were on.
LUMN Board on Yahoo cracks me up. There's relentless bashing of the shorts. Plus Yahoo is so money hungry allowing SPAM, but deleting honest peoples messages. There are some folks on the Yahoo Board who work or have retired from the Communications business, which makes for more informed posters.
It would be great to have those posters over here on IHUB to pick their brains. Unlike the zoo on Yahoo.
At least with IHUB, there's board moderators, but you're allowed to post links for informative purposes. Which Yahoo doesn't allow.
Deja Vue; Sadly LUMN share price for;
Nov 3, 2022 5.92 6.47 5.78 5.80 5.80 62,824,700
We've returned!
Jeffree; Welcome, I see you came over from the Yahoo Message board? Much more pleasant over here. The moderators keep pretty good tabs on the Spamming and name calling. Not as ridiculous as the Yahoo Woke Joke moderators.
fsulevine; How's it going? Don't see you much here anymore? I saw you post over on the LUMN IHUB page.
Lizzy; nice beat down of Kiwi's negativity. You set him straight hopefully. Jennifer Price is a real person instead of a Hedge Fund.
lizzy; nice beat down....
Captain; Excellent post. I love your projections. I won't mention any names, but can you do an exploding volcano graph? :D)
Yeah, just imagine if the FED hadn't given $200B to fund the war in Ukraine ($ down a rat hole). We would have $ for healthcare, homeless, education, a better Internet....etc., etc.
I don't think the Fed is part of the $7B honestly. I think it is Private sector revenues. Why? Simply because the private sector is more pro-active, they want to get ahead of the curve before the competition. Governments like ours don't move that quick. You have layers upon layers of admin and red tape. Just IMHO.
North; sometimes, I don't understand why some folks want the train to jump the tracks? Really Rare Orphan Diseases?
I Googled what these could be; The following are examples;
Cystic fibrosis, Lou Gehrig's disease, Tourette's syndrome, Duncan's Syndrome, Madelung's disease, and Acromegaly/gigantism.
Believe me, I wish Vascepa would be a panacea for the above diseases, but really what's the point to totally come out of Left Field and then couch it with a negative about Amarin? I swear some folk's glasses are half empty all the time.
N7 no sense in doing that. Some folks just never learn.
Hmmm... forgot all about IBM "Big Blue." Boy that takes me back. The USTA Plant I worked for out of college in the late 70s was well known for reverse engineering Big Blues machines (Tape and Disk drives). IBM used to be a household word. Funny you don't think about Big Blue so much anymore as the limelight has swung to more popular names, like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, NVidia, META etc.
IBM has over 282,200 employees,
Do you use their service? (Helium?)
Definitely. On a side note, my phone carrier is Verizon. I had trouble with my phone recently so I went into an affiliate Verizon store and essentially walked out with a new iPhone and a Verizon Gateway (Combo Modem/Router). It's a really cool device that I setup in my window that picks up a signal from a Cell tower. I have two (2) Cell towers in essentially "line of sight" from my house. I get a really good signal and have tested it using Speedtest (App). I'm getting way better results from Verizons Gateway than I was with my old internet service which used a dish (modem) on my roof pointed at a mountain several miles away. I basically "Cut the cord/dish." My initial $$ outlay was high, but now I own my own equipment and can take it wherever I go (like Starlink). I'm also saving about $30 per month. Speeds are around 50 Mbps (download), 6 Mbps (upload) which beats my former service provider. I have a hunch that Verizon is trying to get their phone customers hooked up to the internet as another money stream. This works for me and my needs as I'm not gamer. There-in lies the speed of Fiber and the future.
I researched FLUX, they look like a Private Company (sadly) as they are an AI Software company;
https://clutch.co/profile/flux-technologies#reviews
Palantir (PLTR) would also be a good one to look at.
GLTY
Yes, multiple customers IMHO. If I were to venture a guess. META, Salesforce, MSFT (for sure), NVDA perhaps? To name a few.
The $5B looks like multiple companies according to this article from Reuters; Also keywords like New Deals (plural) means there's more than one company?
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/lumen-secures-deals-worth-5-201325068.html
A few paragraphs down Kate Johnson also reiterates that there were more than one company who solicited Lumen for connectivity enhancements.
Maybe if we gave back some of those Olympic Gold Medals as a gesture of our appreciation, France would be so kind to reciprocate?
