The reduction in liabilities is great. They were able to do that because of their earnings and outstanding cashflow.
ok...lost my head. can you speak to their reduction in liabilities by almost 50% yoy. that on the surface seems pretty good in a recession.
Keep in mind that only a small portion of that revenue is for them.
i' getting a little excited reading their basic numbers. yoy earnings growth + 70%.
3 billion over 10 yrs, w/ over 60% margins. you would think they would be shouting it from the roof tops. lol
I'm curious why they don't broadcast their P/R's on the regular news wires? It would only cost a few hundred dollars. And it's not like today's news is a fluf piece. It seems substantial enough to merit more widespread distribution.
It is good news! Probably someone just got bored with the stock and wanted out. I added more shares.
A lot of weakness this morning in VVDL. Found this on their website from yesterday, but I interpret this as good news...
Any thoughts?

Competitor SPRO had a strong Q4...

Small companies tend to use smaller auditing firms for several reasons:
Fees ARE lower
They can get the "first string" rather than the big firm's junior personnel and trainees.
They don't get "bumped" if the big firm needs to divert resources to a large, more profitable client to meet a deadline or keep that bigger account.
VVDL's financials are very clean. I'm not worried about their auditor. Pretty much all of the OTCBB companies go to small auditors and the quality of small auditors isn't as good as the bigger auditing firms. My impression has been that the audit fees are lower and that is a determining factor for small companies.
Interesting selection.
Mike, this company looks intriguing. Numbers are good and insider buying is nice. I like the premise of converting traditional corporate training into online courses.
Have you looked at their auditor, Williams & Webster, P.S.
In June 2007, the PCAOB barred Williams for two years, and Webster for one year for looking the other way on a bogus (related party) $31 million note due Diatect Corp in 2003.
http://www.pcaobus.org/Enforcement/Disciplinary_Proceedings/2007/06-12_Webster.pdf
I see that W&W (the corp) still audited VVDL in FY '07, while the two namesakes were barred/suspended by PCAOB.
Aside from this blemish, the company (Vivid Learning) seems okay and I like the stock. But I would like it much better if they replaced W&W.
Thanks for that. I hope they work it out soon.
etrade is having a problem with their system. VVDL was temporarily VVDLE for a few days last year because they had to add/update a disclosure on one of their filings. Apparently etrade is still incorrectly using the symbol VVDLE. Now that you have complained hopefully etrade's system will be updated. VVDL last traded at $0.19.
I bought some vvdl last week and etrade posted my buy as vvdle. I bought vvdl at .20 and vvdle posts a pps of .05 in my account. When I spoke to the agent at etrade, he didn't know what happenned. He is checking into it and will let me know today. When I try to locate vvdle it won't show in my market trader.
I did have a small discussion with management about the PRs not making the wire but at the time I thought it was because they didn't put tickers in the PRs. When I put together the iBox I discovered that I was mistaken as a portion of the PRs have tickers in them. I must have initially just looked at ones that didn't as I only reviewed a few of them before talking with management. Management seemed responsive to some action on PRs based upon my discussion but I didn't really go far enough in discussion of the issue because I had an incorrect understanding. Now that I have a different perspective I will need to raise the issue again next time I speak with management. I'm not sure if they are releasing them somewhere that doesn't hit the standard newswires or if they are just posting them to their web site.
There are stocks that have significant interest without PRs but certainly PRs are better.
Thanks. I didn't know that.
Mike, you know you can copy the PR's into the ibox from ihub's quote/news and it comes in a neat looking table (you can even add color to coordiante with the box)
Forget knowledge, PRs is King?
VVDL looks good Mike
however I wonder if you've asked management why they don't do PRs. All the ones you posted were lifted from the website; I couldn't find them on any of my other historical newswires (Dow Jones, Comtex, BusinessWire). No PRs=No interest in this market, unfortunately IMO.
That is a problem with iHub that I noticed yesterday. It should show VVDL but they are having a problem with their data feed. I'll work with them to get it fixed. The current bid/ask is $0.18 X $0.20.
Mike - I'm not familiar with the difference between VVDL.OB and VVDLE.OB, but I noticed you are showing the VVDLE.OB in your trading graphic here above. Wouldn't you want it to show VVDL.OB?
I've been buying VVDL. It is the best new stock I have seen in quite some time. With earnings of $0.017 last quarter and likely earnings of $0.02 next quarter I think this stock is massively underpriced at $0.18. I think the stock could easily be trading at $0.50-$1.00 this year. See the iBox for lots of research on why I think it is a great pick.

Vivid Learning Systems helps leading manufacturer gain ground using standard training platform
Pasco, WA – October 20, 2008 - Ingersoll Rand Company (IR) is a 100-year-old leading manufacturer of climate control, industrial productivity and security products – including Schlage locks – operating more than 80 production facilities worldwide with annual revenues approaching $10 billion. Since the company’s founding a century ago, it has retained top positions in the markets in which it competes. Key to the company’s success has been an abiding commitment to customers and a concentrated effort to achieve operational excellence.
With 30 facilities and more than 400 service technicians in the United States, maintaining a standard of excellence was a challenge for IR Company when it came to the company’s industrial safety training programs. An internal review of the company’s existing practices revealed a lack of continuity that caused unwarranted expense and undue burden on management, especially as they considered how to maintain high customer service standards. Until now, each of the company’s three primary business units conducted its operational health and safety training independently. Without a standard training platform, there were inconsistencies among business units that prevented management from rolling out global initiatives and staying current with changes in regulatory compliance standards.
Recognizing that training was an important component of its overall workflow improvement initiatives, IR looked to identify a solution provider with industry expertise in regulatory compliance training and specifically, compliance recertification, that offered a dynamic, easy-to-use, on-demand application at a price point that made sense. More importantly, the solution had to seamlessly integrate with the company’s existing legacy systems to ensure effective project deployment at all 30 facilities. They found the answer in Vivid Learning System’s eClarus Learning Management System and the company’s comprehensive compendium of courses.
Vivid Learning Systems (OTC:VVDL)is a leading online regulatory compliance-training provider and has delivered more than six million computer-based training lessons since 1995. Vivid’s eClarus Learning Management System is user-friendly for both students and administrators. Students access training quickly and efficiently with little need for orientation, while administrators operate in a secure, flexible training management environment where they have access to pre-built as well as ad hoc reporting functions. The eClarus solution provides 24/7 access to employee records and reports, dedicated technical and training support, ability to interface with other LMS & HR software systems, a scalable system that works well for small to large companies, customizable reporting, branding and corporate look and feel and the option to receive preloaded compliance training lessons.
A review of IR’s experiences using Vivid’s elearning application demonstrates how the company implemented a standardized program for each of its 30 manufacturing facilities resulting in a streamlined training process at a reduced cost and with enhanced employee proficiency and knowledge in critical areas.
Training solution makes an impact
Using Vivid’s online training solution, IR was able to optimize its training function while sharing the expense across two of three primary business units, allowing the company to realize an estimated 30 percent cost savings in the first year. Training expenses dropped as a result of the reduction and/or elimination of overhead for classroom training, on-demand access that allowed employees to utilize downtime more productively and standardized programming across all facilities that minimized the time employees spent adjusting to inconsistent procedures. Harder to measure were the savings that occurred as a result of increased knowledge in the many aspects of production operation, as well as a greater ability on the part of manufacturing managers to not only recognize procedural inefficiencies and modify them, but also ensure the procedures were being followed correctly. Further, the move to on-line training received an overwhelmingly positive response from employees and management alike, which helped facilitate rapid acceptance.
Industry expertise yields results
Vivid Learning Systems’ expertise in compliance and regulatory-based training in a broad range of industries enables the company to deliver best-in-class, off-the-shelf and customized web-based training designed to achieve compliance, optimize operational efficiencies and improve business performance. With a strong knowledge base, the company delivers effective, industry-specific solutions for companies both large and small. In fact, Vivid’s eClarus Learning Management System, a complete turn-key training solution, is built and managed with more than 20 years of computer and web-based training delivery and service experience. eClarus provides all of the training delivery, tracking and reporting features necessary for a powerfully effective and efficient learning management tool.
Vivid’s team of experienced instructional designers, graphics/multimedia developers and database and web programmers are engaged throughout the process, continuously re-evaluating and assessing training needs and approaches and customizing solutions specific to business needs. Further, Vivid’s responsive customer support staff provides companies with the highest level of customer service. In the case of Ingersoll Rand, Vivid not only provided the company with an integrated software solution, but also customized the application to adhere to its corporate branding and operational strategies.
Vivid’s e-learning application delivers reliable results. Measuring the business impact of implementing an e-learning solution is crucial to realizing the efficiencies and cost savings attributed to this dynamic training approach. However, according to the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and others, only three percent of all training courses are evaluated for business results. Ingersoll Rand recognized the value of tying training initiatives to business results and found a training partner that could make it a reality.

Vivid Deploys Progressive OSHA Tracking and Compliance Solution for T&D Workers
Portland, OR – August 25, 2008 – Vivid Learning Systems (OTC:VVDL), in collaboration with the Northwest Line Constructors Chapter (NWLCC) of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), has developed an online system for tracking OSHA Transmission and Distribution (T&D) training as well as other types of instructor-led training. This system is being deployed to all chapters within District 10 NECA. The system was created to meet the District’s unique needs for training and compliance tracking for their contractor members, to provide a centralized data repository, and to enable easy reporting of training information.
One of the challenges faced by NWLCC and the other District 10 NECA Chapters is keeping track of training records for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) line workers as they move around the country. Vivid Learning Systems’ solution was to treat each line worker as a resource shared by all Chapters. With the proper access privileges, a contractor can view a particular line worker’s training records and quickly determine if additional training is needed, significantly reducing the effort to determine a person’s training history and eliminating the delivery of unnecessary training. This tracking system will be the first nationwide system that will track all outside I.B.E.W. construction line workers training records.
“For the Outside Power Line NECA Contractor using a tracking system of this capability is a must with the transient nature of our workers. Data is entered then the individual contractors have the ability to look up an employee to find his/her training records to determine if any additional training is needed for this worker in the position the employer is planning to have this employee. This saves time & money for the contractor and ensures this worker is adequately trained for the position. If more training is needed then the employer can plan accordingly for the needs of that worker.” Tracy Harness, Chapter Manager, NW Line Chapter, NECA.
“We are delighted to provide another value-added solution to NWLCC. It is only through a careful process of listening, understanding, and implementation of our clients’ vision and business objectives that we as an organization can be successful. Our goal is to continue to build on that tradition.” Rabindra Nanda, Chief Marketing Officer, Vivid Learning Systems.
About The Chapter
NWLCC was established in 1947 becoming the first chartered NECA outside line chapter. NWLCC members are staffed and equipped to handle every kind of line construction and maintenance including substation and switchyard facilities. NWLCC works with the local Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee in building and maintaining an outstanding nationally-recognized training program producing safe and competent Journeymen line workers. Their relationship with the area’s I.B.E.W. locals results in a strike-free environment contributing to consistent and dependable service. NWLCC’s territory includes Washington, Oregon, the three adjoining counties in Northern California, and the ten northern-most counties in Idaho.

LOCAL BUSINESS PART OF REGIONAL GROWTH
Pasco, WA – July 15, 2008 – In a recent WA CEO Magazine article, senior writer Bryan Corliss highlighted that … the Tri-Cities, the butt of decades of radioactive-glow-in-the-dark jokes, described as the "Dry Cities," have led the state in population growth since the start of this decade. Percentage-wise, they're also among the leaders in job creation, and average Tri-Cities paychecks are among the highest in the state, thanks to high-paying high-tech jobs in science and health care research.
What's to like about the Tri-Cities? Plenty, says Rabindra Nanda, the chief marketing officer at Vivid Learning Systems (OTC:VVDL), a Pasco online software company.
"We've got a great pool of talent we can draw from. Traffic's not an issue. You've got the cost of living; it's obviously lower. The weather, that's another benefit. You've got organizations like Pacific Northwest Laboratories out here, which provides a steady stream of engineers, Ph.D.s, people who have that kind of background."
Nanda says his company is "going through a very, very exciting time. We've got some plans for hyper growth and the plans are pretty much to be here. We don't see any particular hindrances to growing."
Hyper growth also describes what's happening here where the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers meet.
Pasco has been the fastest-growing city in the state since 2000, growing 57 percent to 50,210 people. Likewise, Franklin County (of which Pasco is the seat) was the fastest growing county in Washington during the same period, growing by 37 percent to 67,400 people.
Across the river, Benton County is the third-fastest-growing county in the state since the millennium, growing by 14 percent to 159,400. The population of West Richland grew by nearly 29 percent, making it the Tri- Cities region's fourth city with more than 10,000 people.
The job market is strong. Nearly one of every 10 jobs created statewide last year was created in the Tri-Cities metro area. The growth -- 4,900 jobs -- was greater than the total for Spokane and Yakima combined. The construction of a new nuclear waste treatment plant at Hanford added 1,000 high-paying jobs…
This press release was taken from excerpts of the June 2008 article of Washington CEO Magazine where Bryan Corliss is a senior writer.

Meridian’s SaaS Strategy Includes Building Large, Online Training Library; Safety Education Comes First
Chantilly, Va. – May 8, 2008 – Meridian Knowledge Solutions LLC has signed the first of several planned agreements that will help the company build a large, online library of training content to complement its software-as-a-service (SaaS) product for managing learning and knowledge. The SaaS version of Meridian’s product is based on the company’s flagship learning management system (LMS) – Meridian Global LMS, which delivers, analyzes and manages training via the Internet.
“People buy SaaS products to quickly put in place the infrastructure for delivering training, so it only makes sense that – whenever possible – the training ought to be simple and efficient to obtain, too,” said Roy Haythorn, vice president of Sales & Marketing for Meridian. “Our SaaS product can be up and running in days, so we aim to give our customers a wide-ranging library of training courses that they can deliver the moment their systems go live. Our online, training library is all about making it incredibly easy to start training.”
The first “wing” of Meridian’s virtual library will contain courses focused on on-the-job safety. The safety training content comes as the result of a reseller agreement signed between Meridian and Pasco, Wash.-based Vivid Learning Systems (OTC:VVDL), which produces web-based compliance training programs for meeting government regulations. Vivid will provide Meridian with more than 300 online courses for training to meet requirements mandated by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Additional courses will focus on environmental management, employment law, heavy machinery, hazardous waste operations, mine safety and electrical safety.
“We envision building additional wings on our online library, so it encompasses just about anything our SaaS customers might need in the way of courses for their training programs,” added Haythorn.
“Our research shows that companies of all sizes are gravitating to the SaaS model," said Josh Bersin, president of Bersin & Associates, a research firm focused on enterprise learning and talent management. “The creation of a large-scale virtual library of training content for SaaS clients to tap into seems a natural outgrowth of Meridian’s desire to make training simple for its customers.”
