Vivid Deploys Progressive OSHA Tracking and Compliance Solution for T&D Workers

Portland, OR – August 25, 2008 – Vivid Learning Systems (OTC:VVDL), in collaboration with the Northwest Line Constructors Chapter (NWLCC) of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), has developed an online system for tracking OSHA Transmission and Distribution (T&D) training as well as other types of instructor-led training. This system is being deployed to all chapters within District 10 NECA. The system was created to meet the District’s unique needs for training and compliance tracking for their contractor members, to provide a centralized data repository, and to enable easy reporting of training information.

One of the challenges faced by NWLCC and the other District 10 NECA Chapters is keeping track of training records for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) line workers as they move around the country. Vivid Learning Systems’ solution was to treat each line worker as a resource shared by all Chapters. With the proper access privileges, a contractor can view a particular line worker’s training records and quickly determine if additional training is needed, significantly reducing the effort to determine a person’s training history and eliminating the delivery of unnecessary training. This tracking system will be the first nationwide system that will track all outside I.B.E.W. construction line workers training records.

“For the Outside Power Line NECA Contractor using a tracking system of this capability is a must with the transient nature of our workers. Data is entered then the individual contractors have the ability to look up an employee to find his/her training records to determine if any additional training is needed for this worker in the position the employer is planning to have this employee. This saves time & money for the contractor and ensures this worker is adequately trained for the position. If more training is needed then the employer can plan accordingly for the needs of that worker.” Tracy Harness, Chapter Manager, NW Line Chapter, NECA.

“We are delighted to provide another value-added solution to NWLCC. It is only through a careful process of listening, understanding, and implementation of our clients’ vision and business objectives that we as an organization can be successful. Our goal is to continue to build on that tradition.” Rabindra Nanda, Chief Marketing Officer, Vivid Learning Systems.

About The Chapter
NWLCC was established in 1947 becoming the first chartered NECA outside line chapter. NWLCC members are staffed and equipped to handle every kind of line construction and maintenance including substation and switchyard facilities. NWLCC works with the local Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee in building and maintaining an outstanding nationally-recognized training program producing safe and competent Journeymen line workers. Their relationship with the area’s I.B.E.W. locals results in a strike-free environment contributing to consistent and dependable service. NWLCC’s territory includes Washington, Oregon, the three adjoining counties in Northern California, and the ten northern-most counties in Idaho.
