As I have already said, any interruption in the Iranian oil supply is very inflationary. If China cannot get their oil from Iran, or at least most of it, they will have to look elsewhere and pay more. $100 a barrel? That might be enough to destroy China's economy.
The fact that Trump has said he will decide what to do in 2 weeks tells me that there will be no direct U.S. involvement. I believe Bannon has been running to the White House lately, and, again, he is 100 percent against U.S. involvement. Trump is between a rock and a hard place--neocons and MAGA. My money is on MAGA.

That would cut off the money flow to Iran

from oil and they would have to deal...

Bombing nuclear sites or oil sites risks releasing

While it is very alarming that Iran had enriched uranium to 60 percent, which is for nukes, let's face it, apparently there is no evidence that they are days away from have a nuclear weapon.
But think of it this way, nefarious Iranians could smuggle dirty nukes into enemy countries, like the U.S.
At the end of the day, taking out their nuclear-weapons capability is the smart thing to do.
Had the West bombed Hitler's war-equipment factories in 1939, scores of millions of lives would have been saved.

lj: Oil was down this morning. Heard an oil "expert" say the Saudis and Quatis and Americans have plenty of oil to produce. Interestingly, he said this is not the 1970's when Iran cutting off its oil supply hurt us. So, I filled my tanks for naught, but it always nice to have full tanks.
Look at the price of oil, I think you are right about the oversupply.
Here is something we do not think about much--every year, more hybrids and electric cars are sold in the U.S. I still believe, though, that EV's are doomed unless they develop much better batteries. The mileage on hybrids is great. I don't understand why they even make plug-in hybrids.
VLO is up almost $3 this morning, so I sold half of my small position purchased on June 4 for $128. Sitting on the fence with the rest; the stock is so volatile that I might sell the rest this afternoon. I would be very surprised if it weren't down 10 points sometime over the next 2 months.

Geopolitics: Trump is sitting on the fence with Iran. His buddy Putin offered to try to negotiate peace between Israel and Iran, and if the press is to be believed, Trump is open to the offer.

lj: Switching gears, I found this article today that is of interest to me since I live in one of the States with the highest credit card debt. I can tell you what has caused it---the insane increase in electric utility bills that people cannot afford to pay. Things are going to get very ugly here if we have a very cold winter.
Stablecoins aren't going to help people who cannot afford their heating bills. A credit card can get them through a winter without freezing, until they max out their credit.

If they do, they should recall what Japan did in the early 1940's after their oil supply was threatened.
Israel going after China's nuclear scientists might seem smart, but could China supply them with replacement nuclear scientists?
I sat in line to get petrol during the supply interruption in the 1970's after Iran cut us off.
