Nice analysis jimmenknee. Reviewing, learning and understanding data is key to playing these boards. Unfortunately there are many inexperienced who do play and those are who get prayed upon, intentionally or not. Pumps (and there are many types) and dilution are very hard things to pin down, and as Im sure you know, as should everyone playing down here, common investors will always be the last to know the truth, usually by getting a slap in the face NR that tells you how much has actually occurred leaving one sitting dumbfounded in front of their computer screen.

DUSS is in the middle ground right now IMO, having produced many positive PRs and NRs and now we are left waiting to see how things pan out. One needs to have the realization that it could go either way. While there is much potential there at the moment, it could also blow up in ones face quite quickly should deals not become reality. Im not sure if its a scam or not at this point but certainly one that any investor should be careful with at any rate.

Nice post otterman-- as was your post on DUSS ( #msg-40561309 ), which I will address here as the trading dynamics of a legitimate stock that is being manipulated -vs- an outright scam will more often than not result in the same outcome to the unknowing/inexperienced...

DUSS is a typical "distressed" legitimate company under promotion with message board posters aligned with and/or employed by the company and/or 3rd parties. Absolutely nothing wrong that-- the rub is in how it is portrayed...

What they want one to believe (and all "scams" or "shams" in general):
--It is an overall excellent investment now
--There is an urgency to Act (buy) quickly
--One needs to hold through downturns
--That Market Makers and Shorters are responsible for negative movements in the price

I agree that statistical data can be-- and is readily -- manipulated. Wasn't my intention to portray the data as if there were no money-making opportunities along the way.

What someone needs to have/do if not in the "in-group" (insiders, promoters, momo players, financiers, pp buyers [initial or 2ndary market], etc.) IMO:

--Understand the fundamentals and milestones
--Monitor SEC filings and Stock Promotions to quantify and qualify selling pressure potential
--Monitor Level 2, Time/Sales and Intraday Charts to quantify actual selling pressure

--Trade Accordingly

GLTU and the board-- would be nice to bring true "awareness" to all as it makes for a fairer trading room

Here's a start for you:

Numerous PRs (and sometimes NRs) during which massive amounts of shares trade and the SP does very little and in many cases goes down (as those paid off dump their shares). If after numerous 'great news' items come out the SP still lags, probably a scam.

NR = item related to actual company operations - eg: earnings.
PR = (usually more numerous) items that may help the company in the future but are near impossible to verify - eg: an 'agreement' with a virtual unknown/company in a foreign country; marketing campaign on late nite TV (as opposed to being on Oprah); new management whom you cant track down a past of; many, many more.

Bottom line: NRs are businsess specific and usually few. PRs can be anything under the sun and are usually 'gigantic!' in nature, lol.

Not foolproof by any means but something to keep in mind.

Not sure about scam stocks, but I think Skymark is. Any time they put out a "complimentary coverage" on a stock, it seems to trigger a sell on news event that runs down the price of a stock.

For example, a certain quality company put out an NI 43-101 compliance report on its flagship property that proved up a huge deposit of REE's.

However, less than 2 hours before they put out their report, we get the news that Skymark has initiated complimentary coverage of this company.

When you look at the report, it is merely a compilation of old news without a single shred of original research. At the end of the report is a disclaimer to that effect and lists a contact of Joe Anthony Padilla of Scottsdale Capital Advisors.

When you look at Scottsdale, they boast at their abilities as a market maker.

Does not have claimed patents, ripped off pics/ideas from other companies, address is a UPS box which supposedly forwards to a different PO box, no products, cannot contact company.

MODC: is sister company to ENCS, same owner, no products.

BBDA:
CEO (being a failed ex-NASCAR driver) has possible conflict of interest, emphasis on NASCAR and not the drink products. CEO makes promises that are not met. Products are virtually impossible to find even though the products were to be in 5000 stores by now. Board moderator is also a NASCAR fan and seems to have an agenda with CEO. Assistant board moderator is heavy pumper. Website just changed to a horrible (free) website format; unprofessional. CEO/mod claim a "problem" with "components" on previous website (which had looked very professional). Why change?

His business so far has been reading old degraded computer tapes for NASA, MIT

Fortunes have been made by joining the right company during it's early days.
People who see the potential do very well indeed.

I wouldn't even be mentioning this company to you if I wasn't absolutely
convinced that they will be immensely successful in the next few months.
