Not nice Bonnie :) I own Rambus <g> jULIE
RMBS closed at a frickin' 15 bucks. LMAO.
So, if we do the Friday 'Top 10 Idiot List' thing here, guess who would be Number One not only for the week, but sort of like, for LIFE?

What are your greatest picks?
heh heh heh, Redmond VA ...
Geez ... this reminds me of my 'early years' in Cyberspace investing msg board life during which I ran a "Top 10 Idiot List."
Usually on Fridays.
Sometimes, time permitting, I accompanied each winner with a brief, one-graph description of their specific 'qualifications' based on their posted info about themselves.
<g>
I'm thinking this might be a very good place to re-establish such a fun and entertaining regular 'feature.'
What say you?
TIA,
bia
Hi Redmond,
Yes, the Porch basket's performance, like the performance of all high Beta stocks this past year, has been dismal.
I've been keeping a vigil on Silicon Investor, on the original Voltaire's Porch, now renamed "The Critical Investing Thread", for months now. Here's the thread:
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/subject.gsp?subjectid=29324
Because of this, I'm not going to say more about Voltaire here. I do think that you are making some very valid points and as long as you do them politely, I support what you're doing here.
Take care.
Real Poet, this explains a lot:

I'm not looking to start a fight here, since I try to respect the charter of others' forums. How about we step out into the Parking Lot and discuss it?

Hi Matt, Sorry but not much time on my hands right now. I don't "pick" on Voltaire. I just want to challenge his opinion and make him accountable for what he says. As you now one can not do this on SI (you get banned if you do). Here you can...although some of my posts misteriously disappeared.
I have recently found out from Dealer that Voltaire provides advice as an entertaiment feature only! I just wish someone would tell him because I KNOW that's not what he thinks. Someone needs to bring him back to Earth...and that's angeless Earth.
Matt, I'm not doing this to laugh at V or to make fun of him. In a way my posts are just as informative as anyone else's. But sometimes truth hurts and reality hurts...and what I posted are facts!
I am truly interested in message board psychology...
So, I am curious if you would spend a few seconds of your time and explain to me why, if Voltaire is so wrong, such a bad guru, you waste your precious time posting about him?
Most people, when they come accross a guy that isn't any good at picking stocks, they move on. They don't take hours and hours of their time to post about how wrong he is.
I don't see anything wrong with your posts, but, I'm curious...WHY?

These figures are FACTS!
Hi Keith,
And may I ask why you waste so much time copy and pasting other people's posts?
What's the difference between what I post here and what Dealer does post on SI every morning night and night. Dealer cuts and paste from CBS Marketwatch all the time and I do it from SI. We both post FACTS....not unfounded predictions.
jpgill,
You can not deny that I am reporting what people actually posted and preached (in other words: SOLID HARD FACTS) and not opinions and guidance from "angels". Oh yeah, it does't matter, the "angels" thing was just entertainment according to Dealer.
Good luck jpgill, I wish you the best.
...and it gets better
I just can't see this pertaining to

Rumour has it, huh?
Well, I never did put much faith into rumours.
Exactly who are you on SI??
And may I ask why you waste so much time copy and pasting other people's posts? Will you ever add anything constructive, or is your main goal to simply follow people around and taunt them.
Good luck to you too......
Hi Keith, rumour has it that you've been kicked out of a certain SI thread. Hang in there!
Good luck, sincerly.
Greenspan said PPI figure was an anomaly. All the other data fails to support any inflation. Furthermore, there is no pricing ability. He is not fighting inflation. Looks like lower rates for the foreseeable future.

SI has become nothing less than a suburb of Yahoo complete with all of the snipping and back biting
...well said, no telling where Raging Nonsense (RB) fits into the equation...lol. Been at iHub for awhile now, and it's clear to me that this is where the smart people are starting to congregate. No hidden agendas here that I can see - just smart people sharing ideas on potential trades, investments, etc. Your "Ask Vendit" thread is top notch!
b/r Arch
Crabber
I came to Ihub to get away from SI and what it has turned into.
I enjoy off-topic discussions while staying focused on the topic of investing. SI has become nothing less than a suburb of Yahoo complete with all of the snipping and back biting. SI is no longer considered a serious investment forum by most serious and agenda-less investors such as myself.
I did an extensive search on the Internet in the month of January to find a viable alternative to SI as my desire to get away from the SI "Yahoolagans" who now dominate and post on that forum was growing. I found Ihub the logical choice.
I set up my thread here and after a few days I saw some other fine SIers followed and set up threads like Dealer. Along came some of the SI-Yhoolagans.
My point to you is this; I have always done an extensive post history search on ANYone who has ever newly posted to me, before I reply. This tells me what their agenda is.
Your Ihub ID "crabber" had 1 post in it's history which was made to an obvious SI-Yahoolagan. When I searched for your crabber ID on SI I did not find one. You privately stated to me that your intent was as a Solace to SI. Who are you on SI?
You are hiding behind an ID and I have no idea who you are and I've learned that most people who do this have a
non-productive agenda so I question yours.
If you or anyone else from SI has come to Ihub with revenge in mind I suggest that you re-think your priorities in life.
If you are a genuine and curious new poster then feel free to join this thread and the askV thread, I will welcome you.
Sincerely;
Reid
<<Quick question...

Some people just like to rub it in........looks like he is one of those folks.
<<Keith, in total honesty you must agree that he's been constatly wrong since last Fall.>>
Yes, I do agree on that....it does not take a fool to see how off he and his angels were this past year.....BUT, I still don;t see the need for people to revel in others misery and play the "I told you so " game.....
"RedmondVA",
Thanks for not being rude. What a joke.
WHO is the "big PHONEY"?
Oops, I think that was the school bell, you'd better get back to class.

Quick answer...
Hi Matt.
I never said that I don't like Voltaire and especially not Dealer.
Thanks Matt!
Quick question...
If you don't like Dealer and/or Voltaire..
Why bother posting about/to them?
Just curious.
mb
BTW dealie, please note that in all the posts that I posted, and that you such promptly deleted, I was never rude to Volatire or anyone else. I just brought up the obvious, much to your "chagrin", and that Tom is a big PHONEY! Think about it for a second!
Will we survive the Fed governors talking?
BG
dealer, don't forget to delete my post #108 as you have done so well with any post doubting Voltaire.
Keith, in total honesty you must agree that he's been constatly wrong since last Fall.
ahhh....the more things change, the more they stay the same!!
I never have a problem "getting on Voltaire's Back".......see, friends are allowed to do this to one another because it is done with respect.....Tom knows this....he and I have discussed it many times, I speak my mind..do not hold back..but I do so with respect...and I find when criticisms are given with respect, they will be received and answered with respect....but if you just wish to be an idiot and gloat and mock and revel in others misfortune....well.....what goes around comes around.........some people wont learn, so no need trying to teach them.
Have a good weekend
Hi jpgill! Always good to see ya around. Thanks for being here.
Regards,
dealie
Redmond,
I'll bite. If you are interested in expressing a simple difference of opinion, why refer to him as "Almighty" Voltaire? Is your post designed to critique or mock?
Voltaire's style has flair. Anyone buying or selling on the recommendation of an anonymous poster on the internet, regardless of who, deserves to lose money. That said, why mock Voltaire for his style and brashness, or for that matter those who enjoy conversing with him?
I've posted on, and lurked over, the Porch for over a year, and haven't seen civil disagreement treated unfairly ever. On the other hand, when someone crashes the party with a chip on the shoulder, bent on mocking Voltaire or others when they are down, others rise to their defense. What on earth is wrong with that?
I'm betting that your taunting post remains, by the way. I'm interested in whether you have a sincere reply.
jpgill
Look here is the problem and I do not expect you to understand.
The regular porchers like Voltaire for himself, right or wrong. They want him to post. Right or wrong. Voltaire is entertaining to the regular porchers.
Voltaire does not need the stress. However I continously get pm's asking me to get him to come on the board......the regular porchers also ask him to come on.....they do not care what he says if he is on the board.
Of course no one knows where the market is going but Voltaire sticks his neck out and makes a call. If you think all the porchers or even a majority are rushing to invest because of his call you need to wise up understand that they love Voltaire and take him with a grain of salt.
The porch was set up for the friends of Voltaire and you need to read the header over there and you should be able to understand......the porch and where I am coming from.
