Very nice.
Nice!..I don't have mantis in our area, but really looking for walkingstick insects lately as some of the foliage browns.
Butterfly zoom hand-held. With tamron AF 70-300 tele-macro on a Pentax K10
and hummingbird quick-shot.
I need some help figuring out a dedicated macro-lens...anyone got tips for tamron SP Di/AF 90mm macro 1:1? I should be able to go damn-near microscopic with this thing, or so I was told when I bought it.
I did the same thing with the mouse. Can't say I can tell which mountain is which. Did you look down? Lots of footprints.
Wow! That is amazing!
When I first used the mouse I got a little bit dizzy, but once I slowed it down it was awesome.
I didn't take this! Great picture.
JUST MOVE YOUR MOUSE AROUND. IT IS AMAZING
Here is a great picture of Mt. St. Helens in 360 degree's.... The mountains you see in the back ground are Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams, & if you rotate further you can see Mt. Hood in the distance...

I'm not sure if you guys are interested or not but I just found a Photography stock. Symbol: MPPC It is so niche I wanted to see what photographers opinion are on the website and what they offer. It looks really cool to me but again I'm not a photographer. Any feedback would be great!
I was thinking of getting a netbook to use as a portable storage/plyer, but I was hesitant to drag one along for 4 weeks across foreign lands just for that use. Maybe the extra SD cards is the ticket, as I already have 8GB of internal memory and can expand to 16GB with 8GB cards.
thanks

Hi OU,
May I presume that you have a memory card camcorder?
If so the only two solutions are to buy (or rent if possible) additional cards for the trip; or pack along a laptop with sufficient open space on the hard drive and/or a DVD burner.
While we're on this topic:
NEVER HOT PLUG or HOT UNPLUG an IEEE 1394 (iLink or Firewire) cable between the computer and Video device. Yeah, they are supposed to be able to do that and usually do so painlessly, BUT, *sometimes* it will blow out the interface in the camcorder or deck.
That can be a very expensive repair requiring the replacement of the main board in a camcorder. The board itself, less labor, can be well over $1,000.00, and not covered by warranty.
Turn everything off. Even remove the computer's power supply and battery (in the case of a laptop) (or turn off the power supply switch on the back of a desktop or the power bar.) before connecting them.
Ditto for the disconnection.
PITA I know; but better safe than sorry.

I am wondering how to store videos from a camcorder safely while on a trip. I am not bringing a laptop and I already have 16GB of storage, but I would like to have more than 3 hours of video of this trip.

Thanks Chris!
When I looked again it says lens error 41. I never thought to do a google search on it.
Apparently it's a common problem.
I will try some of the solutions.
Thanks again for your help!
I'm back with a question if anyone is around.
I have a Kodak C763 digital camera.
When I try to use the zoom feature I get a "lens error".
I'm looking to find a place to bring it in to see what's wrong but it looks like there aren't any real camera stores anymore.
A photography board, cool. I have a Canon 30D digital. Numerous
lenses, some image stabalized, Battery grip, and a bogen-manfrotto tripod.
I have more in this thing than some people have in their car.
Nice pics though.

Not sure this has to do with photography but I thought I would post here.
Since my 15 month old granddaughter lives in California and I live in NY, I don't get to see her too often.
I am thinking that maybe a webcam for Christmas for my son and daughter-in-law and one for me would help!
I've been looking around at them and this one seems to have gotten a couple of good ratings.

Anyone here ever use one of these that they like?
TIA
I'm going to post it on the Computer board also.
Guess I said that wrong. Should have said that I have an Olympus and am happy with it. ~G~
Took post 214-216 with it. Really early morning. Had to slow the shutter way down.
Thanks. She wants something smaller than the E510.
I've had three Nikons' and will never own another. Sony is a good brand but I don't know their cameras. I have an Olympus E510 that I'm very happy with.
I am looking to buy a camera for my daughter. Can anyone tell me anything about these three or suggest something similar?

Thanks.
I have no idea on that problem. Might be worth taking it to a camera store and ask if it is a simple fix or expensive. The way camera prices keep dropping I probably wouldn't spend much fixing it.
While I am over here I have another question.
I have a Kodak Easy Share C763 digital camera and there is something wrong with the zoom.
Whenever I try to use it, it says "lens error" and the camera shuts off.
Do I bring this to a camera store to fix or is it something I can do?
I called my son and his family to thank them and he asked me if I tried it out yet. I hadn't.
They loaded a ton of pictures of my granddaughter on it.
I love it!
They still spent too much money on me though!
Just load in a bunch of your favorite family photos or whatever you like. The more the better. Then turn it on and let it run as a slide show. Set it for new picture every 4 or 5 seconds. Place it where anyone in the family can see it. Turn it on when friends or family visit.
I received it as a gift from my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
Being a Mom, I think that it's something that cost a lot but I probably don't really need.
At first I thought it was something where I could see my granddaughter online, like a video thingy and I was all excited.
It's a nice gift but I hate that they spent that much money!!
Thanks Chrisau.
It's a digital picture frame. Just put a picture from your computer in it and put it on your desk.
Kind of strange. I don't own one.
This is going to sound dumb but can someone look at this link and tell me what this does?

I received it as a gift and I'm not sure what to do with it.
Is it just something to look at pictures that I take?

I'll give it shot, can't hurt!
Really? Interesting.
Another thing... at least on my camera. If it's set on the highest res the zoom doesn't work. I usually leave it at the second highest and "superfine"
Leaves me editing room for either landscapes or close-ups. If I'm doing something special I set it accordingly.
Do you even need the software? Tried just connecting the camera?
Never had to install the software with XP... just recognised it and treated it like another drive.
Got a question for the board. Recently I updated my computers to Windows Vista machines and I have an Olympus 460 digital camera. It worked fine on my Win2K machine but the software isn't compatible with Vista. Does anyone know of a cheap work around for this?
That's it....less memory required for smaller. I have a 2 gig card in my new Olympus. It will store 804 pictures at the resolution it came set at. Not sure what that is, I got it a couple of days ago and haven't had much time. When I pull one up in photoshop it measures 50.667" X 38". For email I reduce it to 6" X 5".
Yes. You can fit more shots on your media card at a lower res.
Well, this is the part I don't understand. Since you can shrink them after they are taken for email purposes, etc, why would someone want to take the pictures from the start at a lower size? Is there a benefit of taking shots at the lower size? Does it take up less disk space, could that be it?
I'll have to take a look at that, thanks.
