OK......Bear in mind that I know nothing, but....I take pictures in the largest possible. Then if I want to send them as an email I reduce the size to whatever it is 800x600? That way some of my friends that are on dialup won't have to go eat dinner while they download. I THINK you can do this with MS paint. I use Photoshop LE because it was free with something I got.
Depends on what print size you would want and/or how much cropping you'd want to do to get the resulting print size. You can get a quality 7x10 print out of a 7m photo with a little room to spare. Here's a link:

I think for emailing and no real concern for huge quality prints you could knock it all the way down to the lowest setting.
Ok, I'm really bad with this digital photography so bear with me. What size pixels am I supposed to set my camera to? 1m, 3m, 5m, 6m, 7m ? the 1m is 1024x768 and the 7m is 3072x2304
My daughter has been taking pics with her camera on that 7m mode and when I went to email some of them, the files were so large that I couldn't send them the way I normally do. I had to open them in Picasa - and email it through that - I think they shrink the pics for emailing.
We have three digital cameras and I never noticed that you can change the size. What is the purpose of using the large over the small? Should I be changing the size of this depending on what I am photographing?
Thanks! Got there and signed up. Waiting for confirmation.
If it doesn't open in a few minutes Google "OSP Forum David Jay" - then maybe you can link from there. You'll like it over there, everyone is very helpful and lots of sharing/networking too. David Jay is the one who started the site.
Well.....it doesn't seem to want to open. Maybe their servers are really busy. Thanks for the link, I'll try it again tomorrow. I did get the Olympus E510. The testing I've done with it pleases me. I've had it less than 24 hours so.....? I'll keep you updated.
Hey Chrisau-There's a great forum over at OSP and you may get some great information on your camera by others that own the same type. I'm not affiliated with it just an avid member and have met some great photographers over there too.

Hey There! I just started a board today for Photogs that Invest so please stop by and give some love!! Thanks for looking!!

Well.....bought a Canon Rebel XTI. Returned it. Great big screen on the back but no "live view". Couldn't use the screen to compose a picture, just to look at the settings or a picture you already took. No image stabilization in the body, just in their very expensive lenses. NOT impressed with the lenses that came with it.
Now I'm reading up on the Olympus E510. Any thoughts? Here's a link;

Found this the other day. If you are interested in taking close up images of anything this is great.

Read the page and then watch the video. He's got some great tips for using Photoshop at the end. They work with Photoshop LE too, but some of the tools are in different places.
Very nice. Time for you to get a better camera for opportunities like that one.
Just took this picture of the backyard. I've GOT to get a better camera!
Taken today while bird hunting in Maine
sorry wrong board!
I love my Canon A410 ... very easy to use and makes me look good.
wrong board ... very sorry Mr. C
should have read iBox ... me bad!
wrong board .. sorry everybody
I love cats and I like this one
Yep and how tiny we as humans are!
sure would, I find those satellite pics fascinating because they remind me of how vast the world is
That is one awesome photo..!!..that would be the ultimate photo shoot!..
The photograph attached was taken by the crew on board the Columbia
during its last mission, on a cloudless day.
The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting.
Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities' lights.
The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert .
Note that the lights are already on in Holland , Paris , and Barcelona,
and that's it's still daylight in Dublin , London , Lisbon , and Madrid .
The sun is still shining on the Strait of Gibraltar . The Mediterranean Sea is
already in darkness.
In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands;
below them to the right are the Madeira Islands ; a bit below are the
Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point
of Africa , are the Cape Verde Islands.
Note that the Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly both during
day time and night time.
To the left, on top, is Greenland , totally frozen.
A new one for you folks>>>>>>>>>>>>
Ah..you're no fun...LOL
Looks like fireworks to me.
Yes it is!..I still haven't got the one i want..but pretty close...I am shooting for less haze and clearer turbines..
but it is very hard since the blossom are only out for such a short time..
thanks
Excellent pictures. Is that Mars Hill Mountain in the background of "Potatoes and Power"?
Love those windmills on the mountain ... also excellent title imo
Here is a better one..I named it Potatoes and Power
Pretty ... thank you for adorning the Board with them.
Thanks, but I found it on the Internet.
They aren't "instructions", they're suggestions. ~G~ Not bad for right out of the box.
I'm still not the best photographer but here are a couple that I took with the new camera. Now I have to read the instructions!
I picked up that camera on Ebay and it came today. I will test it out and post some pictures later.
Very cool. Where was it taken?
Great Moose shot!
