A complementary point of view is Echart Tolle's 'The Power of Now'. Part of successful living is learning to live in the now. Why dwell on the past, enjoy living right now. Worried about the future? What can you do about your worries? If anything, do it. If nothing, place your faith in God, and enjoy the now. Smile right now, whether you feel like it or not. 96% of what we worry about, never happens. Worry is only useful if it leads to corrective action. Otherwise, it saps your energy and is a real downer. Right now, I feel good, I'm just going with that, nothing else matters.
Excellent post...thanks for sharing! As cosmo also stated...I sure needed to read that today.
Big Smiles and Thanks!
very well said my friend and perfect timing - and I needed to hear that today :)
Imagine living in Florida in 1900. You suffered through sweltering summers as there was no air conditioning. You either walked or use real horsepower for transportation, no air conditioned motor vehicles were available. For entertainment, you could sit on the veranda and sip a mint julep, jawing with your neighbors, or perhaps gather around the piano and sing songs. No TV or stereos to entertain you. Yes, it was not always pleasant to trek out to the outhouse when nature called.
Probably about the same percentage of folks living back then were happy and contented, as is true today. It's not the environment we live in, as much, as it's the attitude we maintain in our minds.
Is there anything more inspiring than seeing a quadriplegic smile? Think of all of the things that individual will never experience, yet they are smiling. Why aren't you?
I'm not a James Brown fan, but I'd love to get a clip of him singing 'I feel good' for my computer. That's the secret, feel good, it's a matter of choice. Choose to feel good.
so true..
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of our attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one thing we have, and that is our attitude...
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it."

Wisdom from Vernon Howard:
The Dynamic Power of Awareness
The most trivial act becomes dynamic when you attempt it with self-awareness. Whether you are washing dishes, or painting a table, or simply walking from one room to another, try to be aware of yourself doing just that. Don't just paint or walk, but be conscious of yourself painting or walking. This detaches you from the dream state in which most people live; it puts you in touch with your energetic center self. Any action performed with self-awareness becomes inspired.
The Natural Life is True
A cheery relaxation is man's natural state, just as nature itself is relaxed. A waterfall is concerned only with being itself, not with doing something it considers waterfall-like. It does not force us to think about it; it does not demand our attention and energy; it does not lean on us for gifts; it asks nothing of us. It simply gives what it is, and lets it go at that. And that is why we enjoy its magnificence.
The usual phrase is, "Be yourself." We are not following this counsel if we are strained and unsure. These are the sour fruits of the carelessly adopted synthetic self.
How to Be One With Life
When a stream approaches a series of rocks, it has no preconceived plans for passing them. It does not see the rocks as opponents or as threats to its own existence. The very fluid nature of water tells it how to rightly meet everything in its path. Let this natural wisdom also be in you. Meet everything with a free and flexible mind which is not tied to past experiences. You will then meet all events without alarm, with quiet progress.
Be True to Yourself
Behave the way you really are, even if it ends a relationship! Never suppress yourself in an effort to influence, hold, or win someone. When we are unreal, so are our rewards. To say this in another way, never behave the way you think the other person wants you to behave, but in the manner you must. Nothing you really need to do or have ever requires a yielding to person or custom.
The Secret to True Happiness
Do not deny yourself the normally nice pleasantries of the world in the belief that they are anti-spiritual. People who do this merely repress themselves, which results in secret bitterness and neurosis. Participate freely in your business and social activities, but do not form attachments to them in an effort to find security.
The Fish
An anxious young fish swam over to ask his father, "I have heard of the ocean, but cannot find it. What and where is the ocean?" His father replied, "Stop distracting yourself with worry about the ocean and you will find it." We are, in truth, already One with the universe and with ourselves, but an anxious mind prevents self-realization.
Live Your Own Life
"I am caught between loyalty to my traditional beliefs and my urge to break out." Do not feel guilty about leaving the old. You owe nothing to illusions. Do not permit other slaves to keep you held down.
Wow! Cosmo impressive stuff. For years I wanted to know that, thanks a million(or 2). If you check my posting history you will find a stock that will I beleive make people rich & at the same time will help mankind. do not want to spam the board but want to say thanks. tlo.
theLime, good post. That passage is from a book called, "The Power of Your Supermind" by Vernon Howard (an outstanding author, I read some of his stuff about 5 years ago). Esoteric Mind Power was another book that he wrote which is even better.
Albert Einstein was thought to be uneducatible by the German school system and only stsrted to learn math and science at the age of 13.
He creadited that with his always looking at new informationas if he were a child and tryed to understand many concepts at the same time causing him to try and get a system that put them all in prespective throwing out information that did not fit with
reality as he saw it.
"If you do not learn from your mistakes you will repeat them"
A young man started faming on a small farm in Arkansas Mississippi river bottoms.
After the annual flood he planted soybeans, rain prevented cultivation and weeds took over. When the beans were rip rains and weeds prevented harvesting a timely manner. He went bankrupt.
The next year he rented 3500 acres and rented Equipment to prepare the ground.Hiring people to rune the tractors to get the ground ready within the 2 weeks the ground was dry. After the rain he dropped the seed from a plane. Hetreated the weeds by air.
when the beeans were ready to harvest he rented combines and people to do the work.
He made enough money to pay the bills and all his past debts.
"Think small be small"
Can anyone help me discover the author of this passage, have carried it in my wallet for 16 years or so,only thing I know was written around 1880-1920 therabouts. Only reason I ask is I think its very relevant to this board & beleive to be true, & would like to dicover the rest of it, ( a book I think).
"What you want also wants you, there are no unanswered requests in the universe. If we do not like what we are receiving, we can learn to ask for something different. Then we will find what we wish." tlo.
p.s. interesting that the inspiration for "the secret" was Wallace D Wattles book "The science of getting rich" better than the secret IMO, tells you all you need to know really. I have 3 books in one from Amazon "The science of getting rich/being great/being well which was cheaper than just the first book. best investment I made, 100 years old makes no difference the message has not changed.
In life, sometimes you win, sometimes your learn.
Failure is a much better teacher than success. Only when a man fails he can reach down to the bottom of his soul for greater wisdom, he will change his beliefs and look for new ways to become a better person.
Sometimes a lot of our failures and missed goals are because of what is happening in our unconscious mind. Its not that we dont have the 'know how' its because our unconscious mind is generating negative circumstances or affecting our sense of self worth.
Here is a common example:
In the future, when someone cuts us off on the road, we may behave with irrational anger or even feel guilt after we became angry. This is driven by the unconscious mind, that is why our behavior seems irrational.
Our conscious mind may hold several current thoughts, but our unconscious mind holds millions of thoughts!
That is why its necessary to deal with the unconscious mind, through introspection, meditation, feedback, couselling, self-awareness, education and monitoring your self-talk (or habitual inner thoughts). The following diagrams illustrate this point well:
The Radio Metaphor:
A good way to think of the Law of Attraction is to compare it to a radio. For example, all the stations that you want to listen to on your radio is already there (it occupies the space around you), you just need to tune in to the right frequency. Its the same with life, you can 'tune in' to the frequency of failure, fear, unhappiness, frustration or happiness, love, success, fulfillment, etc.
Absolutely Positively
"No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit."
Helen Keller
Some inspirational quotes on Prosperity:
Prosperity is not just having things. It is the consciousness that attracts the things. Prosperity is a way of living and thinking, and not just having money or things. Poverty is a way of living and thinking, and not just a lack of money or things.
-Eric Butterworth
All prosperity begins in the mind and is dependent only upon the full use of our creative imagination.
-Ruth Ross
If we command our wealth, we shall be rich and free; if our wealth commands us, we are poor indeed.

If you see yourself as prosperous, you will be.

Being that it was a gift. I imagine it was purchased at a book store. I'll ask. I see a price label mark that was peeled off.
I have the DVD which is a 90Minute presetation. This CD that you speak of must be something else. Where did you get it? Is there a link to it? TIA.
The CD set is a set of 4 and 4 hours in length.
What do you have?
what is the difference between the CD and the DVD??
The 4 CD set is setting on my desk for the moment. I'll let you know what I think. I have watched the DVD with many others. Basically what I was raised on to some degree.
interesting to find this thread thats for sure. Especially since the CD set arrived here yesturday. lol
Thats a vaild critic. Also, another criticism I have of it is they say to ignore negative thoughts. I think its necessary to pay attention to the negatives in order to let them go...

AWESOME!!! What a great Metaphor...
The Iceburg Metaphor:
An iceberg can serve as a useful metaphor to understand the unconscious mind, its relationship to the conscious mind and how the two parts of our mind can better work together. As an iceberg floats in the water, the huge mass of it remains below the surface.
Only a small percentage of the whole iceberg is visible above the surface. In this way, the iceberg is like the mind. The conscious mind is what we notice above the surface while the unconscious mind, the largest and most powerful part, remains unseen below the surface.
In our metaphor the small amount of iceberg above the surface represents the conscious mind; the huge mass below the surface, the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind holds all awareness that is not presently in the conscious mind. All memories, feelings and thoughts that are out of conscious awareness are by definition 'unconscious.' It is also called the subconscious and is known as the dreaming mind or deep mind.
Knowledgeable and powerful in a different way than the conscious mind, the unconscious mind handles the responsibility of keeping the body running well. It has memory of every event we've ever experienced; it is the source and storehouse of our emotions; and it is often considered our connection with Spirit and with each other.
No model of how the mind works disputes the tremendous power which is in constant action below the tip of the iceberg. The conscious mind is constantly supported by unconscious resources. Just think of all the things you know how to do without conscious awareness. If you drive, you use over 30 specific skills... without being aware of them. These are skills, not facts; they are processes, requiring intelligence, decision-making and training.
Besides these learned resources which operate below the surface of consciousness there are important natural resources. For instance, the unconscious mind regulates all the systems of the body and keeps them in harmony with each other. It controls heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, the endocrine system and the nervous system, just to name a few of its natural, automatic duties.
The conscious mind, like the part of the iceberg above the surface, is a small portion of the whole being. The conscious mind is what we ordinarily think of when we say 'my mind.' It's associated with thinking, analyzing and making judgments and decisions. The conscious mind is actively sorting and filtering its perceptions because only so much information can reside in consciousness at once. Everything else falls back below the water line, into unconsciousness.
Only seven bits of information, plus or minus two can be held consciously at one time. Everything else we are thinking, feeling or perceiving now... along with all our memories remains unconscious, until called into consciousness or until rising spontaneously.
*****************************
Here is a graphical example of the projections of the unconscious/subconscious mind:
Excellent Clip cosmo! I like that one.... :D
From James Ray: Think about it, the research is both definitive and sobering. Rich people who win the lottery stay rich. That's their normal state. Middle class people who win the lottery soon end up back at middle class because that's their normal state. And unfortunately, those who are broke and win the lottery quickly return to being broke. Because again, that's their normal state.
The amount of money you have (or don't have) is a mere reflection of who you are. If you think broke... you'll always come back to being broke. And if you think wealthy... you'll always return to wealth.
Millionaires (and even billionaires) often go financially broke, but their wealth remains intact, and... their finances always rebound.
Your wealth depends on the energy you send out (your vibrational state). This is great news because you are not the victim of circumstances, but you can control your vibrational state to earn and maintain unlimited wealth.
Your wish is my command... what a great life we have :)
Believe me! The secret of reaping the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from life is to live dangerously!
Friedrich Nietzsche on Joy
If you don't want something, one excuse is as good as another.
~Proverb
Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.

The Philosophy and Spirituality Board
Welcome to the Philosophy and Spirituality board. In recent years society has been moving towards a more spiritual trend. The purpose of this board is to discuss, ponder and to think about issues that are philosophical, spiritual, positive and thought provoking. This is NOT a board for religious dogma (I am not opposed to that at all, but this board is not for that purpose).
Post your thoughts here. We welcome deep thoughts, positive phrases and thought provoking ideas. Please respect others and acknowledge that not everyone will agree with each other’s ideas here.
