Tiger misses cut at British open... whats the world coming too?
When you're on it and not under it - every day is pretty special! You hit a pretty big milestone this year (10 years)!!
amen brother!!
its a great day sir!
I had stage II, level IV malignant melanoma in 1994. Two surgeries and 1 round of rad/chemo has kept me good for all these years.
I am 10 years this side of cancer. I had it for over a year before is was discovered, my youngest boy was 30 days old when the doctor said come on in. Also many family members. One of my best friends with 3 kids, we played golf with our group from school for years. We lost Kevin 2 years ago, I still can't believe he's gone. My wife lost both of her parents to Multiple Myeloma and Lung Cancer these past couple years, they died on the same day in July.
We are members of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society "Team In Traning" Los Angeles Chapter. My wife rides the 100 mile race in Lake Tahoe, I'm her mentor, coach and medic and volunteer on the SAG group during the race. Last year was Team in Trainings 20th anniversary and over 7 Million dollars was raised by the near 6500 participants.
For the cure!
best always pf

It's a terrible disease - my Mom is a double survivor and we have lost 3 in our family (aunts, cousins, etc...).
terribly so :(
we're pulling for her!
Phil Mickelson’s wife, Amy, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and the three-time major champion said Wednesday he will suspend his PGA Tour schedule indefinitely.
According to a release from Mickelson’s management company, his wife was to have more tests but begin treatment with major surgery as early as the next two weeks.
Mickelson, the No. 2 player in the world with 36 career PGA Tour victories, was to play the Byron Nelson Championship this week before defending his title next week at Colonial. It was not certain if he would return in time for the U.S. Open on June 18-21 at Bethpage Black, where he was the runner-up to Tiger Woods in 2002 and is beloved by golf fans in the New York area.
“Elin and I are deeply saddened to hear the news about Amy,” Woods said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her, Phil, the children and the entire Mickelson family.”
Amy Mickelson is among the most visible wives on the PGA Tour, a former Phoenix Suns cheerleader who regularly walks during the rounds and mingles easily with the gallery. She was waiting with their three children by the 18th green at Augusta National in 2004 when Mickelson won his first major, and at Winged Foot in 2006 at the U.S. Open, his most crushing loss in a major.
One of the photos in the clubhouse at the Byron Nelson Championship is Mickelson walking with Amy when they were engaged in 1996 and Mickelson won the tournament.
Scott Verplank, who played on two Ryder Cup teams and two Presidents Cup teams with Mickelson, said Lefty sent him a text Tuesday night. “I had a hard time sleeping,” Verplank said.
“Every time I’ve been around her, she’s always had a smile on her face. She’s always upbeat,” Verplank said. “She’s a neat girl. Hopefully, it’s early and hopefully, they take care of it. I just sent Phil a text back. I didn’t call him or anything. He’ll call me if he needs anything.”
Mickelson met his wife in 1992 when he was a senior at Arizona State, a year after he won his first PGA Tour event as an amateur.
Amy knew nothing about golf at the time.
“I grew up in a tennis family, and when he told me he was a pro golfer, I thought he worked in the shop at a golf course,” she wrote in Mickelson’s book, “One Magical Sunday,” after he won his first major at the 2004 Masters.
The first time she accompanied him to a golf tournament, the Bob Hope Classic, she figured they would walk hand-in-hand down the fairway and was angry at him for not spending enough time with her. But once she learned the difference between birdies and bogeys, she has been at his side during the highs and low.
They were married in 1996 and have three children: Amanda, 9, Sophia, 7, and Evan, 6. Their first child was born the day after the 1999 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2., where Mickelson carried a pager and promised to leave if his wife went into labor.
Contractions began on Sunday, but she decided not to tell Mickelson as he tried to win his first major. He lost by one stroke when Payne Stewart holed a 15-foot par putt on the final hole, and Mickelson arrived home in time for the birth.
Sarah Strange, a breast cancer survivor and wife of former Ryder Cup captain Curtis Strange, said Amy Mickelson’s outgoing personality would play a big part in her recovery.
“She’s such an upbeat person, and I think she’ll approach this in the same way, moving forward with confidence,” Sarah Strange said. “I’m sure she’s getting the best treatment they can find. An upbeat attitude plays such a key role in this, her own and those around her. I’ll certainly be extending any experiences I’ve had, any questions she could ask me to keep upbeat.
“She was so supportive of me being a captain’s wife,” she said. “In return, she will feel that support from others.”
How much golf Mickelson misses this summer is uncertain, but it comes at a time when Woods, his chief rival, returned from eight months away with knee surgery. They played together in the final round of the Masters and practically stole the show with an exciting charge up the leaderboard. Mickelson finished one shot ahead of Woods, but three shots out of the playoff won by Angel Cabrera.
“We are saddened by the news of Amy Mickelson’s diagnosis, but are hopeful that with the support of Phil and her family and friends, she will come through this difficult time,” PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said. “The thoughts and prayers of everyone connected with the PGA Tour are with the Mickelson family.”
The news was quick to reach Europe, where John Daly is playing in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
“That is so sad,” Daly said. “She’s a great girl. My prayers are out to her and Phil. Hopefully, everything goes well.”

She looks a lot like Tiger, and has a similar swing.
So when did David Duval start the Jon Daly diet?
Geez buddy, would it kill you to get into the gym a few times a week?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Zach Johnson had the slightest feeling of panic Saturday when he saw his 7-iron hug the left side of the 17th green, wondering for a moment whether he would stumble for the second day in a row along a three-hole stretch called the "Green Mile."
Relief set in when he saw his ball on green grass, and the 12-foot birdie that followed made a world of difference.
Tiger Woods faltered on the final holes for the second consecutive day with two bogeys. George McNeill did the same. And when a storm system cleared, and the third round finally finished, Johnson had a two-shot lead at the Quail Hollow Championship.
Now comes the hard part.
"I've got a two-shot lead. I'm happy to be there," Johnson said. "At the same time, on this golf course, that's a matter of one hole. Maybe even one shot."
Johnson's par-birdie-par finish -- one day after he went bogey-bogey-bogey -- gave him a 4-under 68 and a two-shot lead over Woods, McNeill and Lucas Glover, all of whom dropped at least one shot over one of the toughest closing stretches on the PGA TOUR.
Johnson was at 11-under 205 and in position to win for the second time this year.
The final two groups, including Johnson and McNeill, had to wait out a 1 hour, 12-minute storm delay before finishing the 18th hole. PGA TOUR officials blew the horn to stop play right after Woods staggered to the finish line with a 70.
Woods birdied all the par 5s, including a two-putt from 12 feet on the 15th hole that put him in the outright lead at 11-under par for the first time in a third round that featured seven players atop the leaderboard at some point.
That he would drop two shots at the end was not terribly shocking, given the difficulty of the holes.
What bothered Woods was that he had a 7-iron in his hand both times -- a poor approach to the 17th that led to a three-putt from 60 feet, and a slight shift in the wind that kept his ball right of the green on the 18th, followed by a poor chip to 6 feet and failure to save par.
"That's not the way you want to finish," Woods said. "But I've got a shot going into tomorrow."
He's not alone.

GLOVER LOOKING TO CLOSE THE DEAL IN CHARLOTTE
By Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM Chief of Correspondents
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Lucas Glover will be the first to tell you he's been in what he calls the "three-round mode" most of this year.
GloverGlover will be playing well, but he always seems to throw in that 73 or 74 when everyone else is shooting 67 or 68. Another top 10 -- or more importantly, that elusive second PGA TOUR win -- vanishes in the process.
Glover's had his three solid rounds again this week at the Quail Hollow Championship. He flirted with the top of the leaderboard throughout Saturday's third round, making three birdies, an eagle and dropping just one shot to par on the final hole in that 68.
At 9 under, Glover will start the final 18 holes tied with Tiger Woods and George McNeill, two strokes off the lead held by Zach Johnson. He's cautiously optimistic that he can break out of that pesky "three-round mode" and anxious to see what happens.
"I'll say I've made less mistakes this week than I have in the past few weeks when I had those three out of four or two out of four or whatever," Glover said. "That's what you try to do, especially on a course like this, limit your mistakes and pick your opportunities and try to go get them.
"I'm going to try to break the trend tomorrow."

Congratulations on your 66th win, Tiger! Welcome back! Your fan from Germany, Sebastian
Congratulations, Tiger. Great putt on 18. I knew it was going in even before you drew the putter back. Thank you again for another great show, but more importantly, for showing an example of the hard work and dedication that makes you the best. Everyone needs to learn from that. To excel you must give 110 percent, and you show that in everything you do. Coming off your surgery and winning this quickly -- it's amazing. Enjoy it, and go get 'em at The Masters. JMadd
Tiger, what a comeback! You are truly an inspiration to all junior golfers around the world! Max
Tiger, Alaska loves to follow exciting events . . . the Mount Redoubt eruption, record blizzards and the return of Tiger Woods as the dominant force in golf. Welcome back. We've missed you! John
Great job, Tiger! I knew you could do it even if you were five shots back! Phenomenal playing! I can't wait to see you at The Masters. Aidan
Congratulations!!! You are back to your winning ways, and you are enjoyable to watch. You played great, and I wish you all the best in the season, especially the majors (go for major slam). Cheers to your win. Eddie
You teach the lesson of life on the golf course, NEVER GIVE UP. 66 and counting. Congrats and many more. John
Tiger, way to go. Glad to see you take the win. Proud of all your hard work and commitment to the game and your play. What a champion and inspiration to us all. Glenn
Gutsy win, Tiger. Your typical fantastic ability to keep focused down the stretch. It was nice to see some other guys step up during your absence but even better to see you back on top. Greg
Tiger, your play and, of course, your win help restore confidence that America will be ok. Thanks for showing us what hard work will produce. Murray
Good to have you back, Tiger. Golf again reigns supreme. Nathaniel
Tiger, well done. You have shown a remarkable ability to focus and clear your mind. Your awareness of how to do this and your ability to do so are a tribute to your both you and your parents. Combine this with your work ethic, and I knew you would win soon after your return. We missed you when you were gone and loved every minute of the tournaments you've played since your return. And the smiles on your face showed how much you were loving it, too! I wish for you many more thrilling TOUR wins. Allan
Congratulations, Tiger, on your recovery from your knee surgery and your first win back. Go get 'em! Steven
You continue to impress, Tiger!!! It never gets old watching. Milton
WOW!!!!!! Need we say more? Impressive comeback, and this very- impressive victory still validates all of the work you and your dad put in over the years gone by. Congratulations, Tiger, and all of the best to your wife and kids.
Your "grit" on Sunday's was unbelievable. I told my two daughters yesterday (9 and 12-years old) to watch closely and tell me what they learned. They both said, "Never give up, right Daddy?" Boy oh boy, were they ever right! Don
CONGRATULATIONS, Tiger Woods. We sure did miss you and your winning ways. We look forward to you winning the grand slam this year. Best of luck. Perry
lol evening penny
Good to see Brian Gay win this week - Tiger needs some new meat that thinks they can win this year! I hope he says something stupid, but I doubt it - he knows he's a journeyman! Gone are the days that Rory or Stephen Ames made it interesting! Even Phil licks his butt now. When asked about closing in on his #1, Phil said, "But he hasn't played in 8 1/2 months" - as if to say, "it's his as long as he wants it"!
Great Masters tournament this year, was painful tho to watch all those bogeys and shots bouncing off the trees at the end! Glad to see Rory made the cut and was able to play the weekend! That kid is gonna go places! Furyk choked, Harrington choked, and of course, Perry really choked on his 3 or 4 opportunities to lock up a win! Perry's tee shot on the par 3 16th was just amazing!!! I thought he was gonna hole it! Well, congrats to Cabreras... 1st ever Masters champ from Argentina!!! I'm happy for him!
One of the best Masters ever, except for the Great American Chokefest at the end!! Tiger and Phil BOTH won more today than a green jacket!
TIger -7 after 11
Going to be a great final Round today!
I know why Tiger isn't winning right now on the Masters...... he should have gone to the minature golf course like on Happy Gilmore. The experience would serve him well if the tv tower happened to fall on the 18th green. lol!!
I just got finished watching Happy on tv and that is one of the best movies they ever came out with.
Basser
I'm afraid that TW and PM are too far back to close the deal - especially because of which 2 guys are on the lead. Neither is subject to a blow up because they are both so long and straight. Also, Kenny's putter is on fire. He is my guess to close the deal, but Angel Cabrera is a real closer.
thanks, good idea, have them often, GO FRESH !
I'm havin red beers - Budweiser and tomato juice! That way, I get my veggies!!
I hear ya, now what beer do I want to drink tonight, gotta run to da luiquor store? What 'll ya have?! LOL
Exactly - if he bites off 3 or 4 bites tomorrow, and then has his 3-4 stroke advantage he almost always has on Sunday??? I bet he is still in their rearview mirrors tomorrow!
One bite at a time.
How do you eat an elephant?
Tiger Woods will start the third round of the Masters trailing by seven shots. Can he still come back and win?
Looks like I had the wrong Kentuckian as my sleeper!
Hey! Thanks !
I see tiger is even going into the weekend, he usually plays his best on Sunday IMO
No worries! What does the leader board look like today?
Sofa King what? I made a mistake!!
I'm guessing my sleeper #1 was a bad pick - SINCE HE IS WATCHING FROM HIS COUCH!!! (J.B. Holmes)
My sleeper pick, Hunter Mahan is lookin pretty good right now, though. If his putter stays up - LOOK OUT this week.
Can I change my prediction to CHAD FREAKIN CAMPBELL!! HOLY CRAP - THAT DUDE IS WAAAYYY OUTTA HIS LEAGUE!!!
FO SHO!!!
WOW WOW ... now he birdied 15th hole... at 9 under now. 5 birdies in a row on the front to start, now 4 birdies in a row on the back, and he still has 3 holes to play. WOW
CHAD CAMPBELL... HOLY SMOKES - Birdied holes 1 thru 5, pared the next 6 holes, then birdies on 12,13,14 .... leading it now at 8 under! WOW
