A good friend, knowing the love I have for my little Jessie, sent me a nicely framed "Tribute To A Dog". I searched for it so I could post it here. Didn't find it.
A WARNING for my dog loving friends.
If you search for "A Tribute To A Dog", be sure to have a box of tissues at your elbow.

LOL!, yeah, when the stage is set with
perfect silence - had a simular experience
with a fox. Didn't know this about a fox, they
scream like a 12 year old girl. Of course,
just dark to greet me as I got home, lol.
OWLS!!! That sent a shiver up my spine!
I was out in the total dark trying to see the Lunar Eclipse. It was completely dark. I was getting farther and farther from my house, trying to find a break in the trees. Suddenly at least two owls cut loose. Creepy.
I broke for the house?? As if an 82 yo partially blind man can break for anything. At my age the only thing that goes with break" is "hip".
Anyway, as I stumbled along I got the distinct feeling that the owls were front creatures for Bela Lugosi.

I love dogs. A great way to end my day.
Me too, and start the day - they are confused
right now laying on the floor why we haven't
gone for a morning walk yet.
Just watched that Bindi girl and her critters,
Very cute.
And the animals too, ha ha.
That bird sounded a bit like my

Ha ha, funny what get's them going sometimes
beyond "look, it's a squirrel" ;).
My guess was some fella's arm in white sleeves.
Cheers!.
You can see a hint of a pole or leash lifting him up.
Unrelated but on the subject of being entertained by our dogs.we had a wee problem boy, a 100 lb weimaraner that was too aggressive with new visitors, a great companion for my wife making her feel safe home alone, but kept visions of one day getting sued dancing in my head.
We had a birthday party for one of my niece's kids and there were left over balloons that after a day retained enough air to float perfectly off the ground. The air from the furnace would move them around the house with their accordian shaped legs occasionally touching the ground making them look like they were actually walking. This freaked my little tough guy out as he ran up to confront them growling and barking then running away tail tucked as they kept moving towards him ever faster caught up in his draft, in effect following him around corners etc. I'd put the balloons in the closet when we went off to work so we could drag them out again after work for the next two days until they petered out. We'd laugh so hard I considered buying more but figured it wasn't a good idea to keep him in such an agitated state.
Dogs are the best
Ahh.. didn't see that the first look, very good sleuthin' as always.
As a result, the closer I looked the more times I watched -
it got funnier and funnier, not sure why. It did have me reflect on
how much joy I get from my dogs and what they get from me (and
how they good naturedly tolerate my sense of humor ;)
That's funny, but I wonder what's going on behind that partially-open door. I suspect something's been staged...

True ... so very true!
Boy cat or girl cat?
Oh yes. And even at their best, they're very critical. Every day, my cat used to watch me get dressed. She obviously thought it was very, very stupid to wear clothes.
What a great look into the mind of a cat! I've always sensed they were out to get me!

Good post, but I don't know how you got this:
"---are you suggesting I leave it up to them?'
out of me saying,
that I consider my self to be my dog's provider, not his owner.
""you love those dogs more than me!"
Every thing reminds me of a story.
Legendary Michigan State football coach, Duffy Dougherty, told a story of his wife tearfully saying "You love football more than you love me"
He thought about it for a few seconds and said. "But I love you more than basketball."

I used to get criticized by a certain someone when it came to training and health maintenance, like toenail clipping, ear cleaning, expressing anal glands etc. all of which the dogs despised and was a big point of stress and above all to be stern about training to obey the"come" command 'why don't you let them do this or that if they want?' It's as if she imagined we were in a competition to be the dog's best friend.
My response was always 'because when it comes to health or possibly saving a life by making sure the come command was obeyed no exception, someone has to be the bad guy, are you suggesting I leave it up to them?' Other than that my dogs were always my constant companions to the point of skipping some social functions my dogs couldn't tag along to.
In the end it all came out, "you love those dogs more than me!" Well yes, quite possibly.
"----after their owner---
I don't consider myself to be my dog's owner. I'm his provider. And he's not my pet. He's my companion.

Ahhhh ........... No comment...............
Janice, you didn't know the woman.
B2B
lol, probably it was more fun when he was a puppy.
Yes. If they can climb trees, they could certainly deal with a flight of stairs.
I once knew a woman that had a 120 male Rottweiler. They also fully prone cuddled on the sofa .
B2B
That's pretty cool!
Very cool, but with those claws
I wonder how they can limit
him to the lower portion of the home
With 3 dogs in our small place
It's like a carpet of dogs
Of course a carpet one can't walk on
Once on Pet of the Day, a woman presented her pet iguana. She seemed to be more than a little weird. She described how in the evening, she'd stretch out on the sofa, and the iguana "liked" to climb up on her and lie down full-length (and it was a pretty big lizard) on top.
Their special time together. Perhaps she didn't understand he was cold-blooded, and was seeking warmth more than affection...
"And mostly eat veggies"---
---as well as the occasional Newbie!!
Iguanas are very placid. Their gums are covered with rough nubs. I doubt they could chew their way through an adult's skin.
Their claws are a different matter and large ones can do some damage with their tails.
I also have a True Story From Life about stingrays. For another night.
NOTE they should be called stab rays.
B2B
LOLOLOLOLOL!! That must have been a sight to see. Though apparently iguanas, unlike most reptiles, actually can be pretty nice pets. At least they respond to their owners. And mostly eat veggies.
Though if I had to have a reptile pet, I think I'd choose a tortoise.
A True Story From Life about Shay type critters. I lived in Venezuela from age 9 - 13. I had lots of iguana encounters. This one happened on Night One.
Men that worked there had to be In Country for 6 months before they could bring their families down.
Dad picked up Mom & me at the Maracaibo Airport. Maracaibo is on the West side of Lake Maracaibo. We were going to be living on the East side. We spent Night One at the Company Camp , near Maracaibo. The twice weekly movie was on that night. It was shown out side on a lawn with palm trees.
On the way to the Camp, we drove through a small village. To my horror There were stark naked kids every where. Boys my age and girls to about 6. This was at the dawn of time. 1946.
Noticing my shock my Dad said "Get used to it boy. That's how you'll go to school"
I had prepared for living in the jungle by reading Tarzan, Swiss Family Robinson and Jungle Book. There were NO naked kids in any of my research materials. Some how, I remained conscious.
I went into planning mode. I settled on faking a broken hip and wearing a body cast until I figured out a long term course of action.
That night we sat out on the grass, in lawn chairs. Within minutes of the movie starting a blood curdling female scream split the night.
My first thought was. Oh no! Some just broke the dress code to that poor lady" bNope.
A lady that had flown from Miami and Aruba with Mom and me had sat under a palm tree. A huge iguana fell out of the tree, squarely in her lap.
After a few months I figured her husband had the same sick sense of humor as my Dad. Every one knew to never sit under palm trees at night. Iguanas hide in palms during the day and spread Newbie terror at night.
I won't go into the scaring I suffered from my fear of living naked. I'll probably have nightmares tonight.

An unusual pet:
This is our cuban rock iguana Shay. Shay is special because he is so gentle and he is house broken. He is also endangered and rare from what we have been told. He is allowed to roam freely around the lower portion of our home.
Shay was given up by his previous owners because they had a baby and the guy's wife was afraid Shay would hurt their baby. I used to do iguana rescue so I was contacted to take him. We fell in love with him right off and decided to keep him as our own. He has a shelf in front of the living room window where he basks under his lights and sticks his head up on the window ledge and looks outside. He eats various fruits and vegetables but his favorite food is dandelion flowers. Shay crawls up and down from his shelf all day exploring the house and begging to get outside.
When we first got him we let him hang out on the back patio. but one year he learned to climb and kept escaping, so now he can only go out with supervision. He is so sweet and gentle except when he is around our rabbit. He likes how she tastes! He shares his food with our cockatiel from time to time. He climbs into my husband's computer chair during the day and sits there waiting for his daddy to come home. He climbs into our laps and sits for short periods of time for petting and then toodles on off to explore. He is a fascinating pet, and we love him.
