With this 2 party system its hard to break this monopoly the good ole boys have on it...........when it does happen we will see the end of the good ole boys, and politics as usual. Until then it will be much of the same old things. These 2 parties have had a iron grip on this system, and many soon will be gone, as many has left........when America see's the difference and the people that this can bring forth, things may begin to change for the better..........its as bad as the Kremlin and their gang keeping a strangle hold in that government..........as tuff as Putin is the crime rate in Russia is staggering........and like here the gangs in LA, and elsewhere are a cancer eating up communities with murder, and drugs, and its growing, and so out of control that it would take the militia to take it back and end their stronghold throughout the major cities.........

The people who should be setting the highest of examples are failing in the highest of offices here..........and will continue......Obama's associations, and Hillary's lies about Bosnia is really scary stuff. Can't blame the black supporting him, remember they were only given the right to vote in 1963.......so its understandable. The problem is I don't think he is the right black man, but yet he may get elected, if he does we will see what goes?. Regardless of he being black, the right black man would never, nor have to confront racial issues in a manner that makes him less worthy or more worthy. It will be his character, his background, and his accomplishments or track record. A black Huckabee for example:))))

One of the best orthopedic we have in this country is black and born in Sierra Leon...........the best!........what an asset he his to the childrens lives he was able to help stand upright, and still doing it.............no one understands the spine better. Does it matter that he is black, or what hell he was brought out of as a young man?.........maybe, we can learn and grow out of much ignorance from just being human, he sure deserves all the honor and recognition for the differences he has made in many many peoples lives, giving children longevity and the abilities to live to a greater degree normal lives.

Doesn't matter about the color of ones skin, nor their gender, its their character..........George Washington Carver was a great American Hero.......what a character. I had only 3 really rememberable teachers while I was in school, and one was black.......one was Italian, and my 2 favorites.

Its this that makes the real person......Martin Luther king said, a man should not be judged by the color of his skin, but by the essence of his character. God made us all. When we all come to recognize and identify with it and stop blaming we will become a stronger nation........every American has the right to move almost any where in the world of their choosing.........but I don't see to many lining up. The ones that live in this nation today are living still in the greatest country in the world despite its faults. Most people have equal billing when we are kids, and its during this phase we will generate an honorable character or we won't. If its real it will never leave any of us and we will grow throughout our lives.


Everyone loved George Washington Carver and he lived thru a turbulent time that a white can't even imagine........the only people treated worse was Native American. Today everyone has a fair chance, anyone can be anything they want if they know what it is they want to be. Theodore Roosevelt traveled to the South to meet him, and arrived in a T model if not mistaken. Although he looked tickled, he looked like he was in question of what all the fuss was about?. :))))

We need him......I think the guy is the total package if he could have won..........I believe our nation could have received an uplifting, and that he would have moved us in the direction we need to be moving in, hopefully chartering a course away from the Perfect Storm we are no doubt heading into. McCain is not for pork barrel spending, and he was a Pow and a War Hero, but I think he his now to old, slow, and lives to much in the past........Huckabee is fresh, articulate, smart an on track, and could be tough when we need to be. I believe he is geniuine, and could move Congress when many need a good kick in the butt, and has the attributes to get them both sides to work with him. Its hard to stand up against solid solutions, and I believe he would serve America for all the right reasons........I hope he gets his foot in, he would be a terrific asset to McCain, what he lacks Huck has, and McCain could use the help and energy he has to offer..........boy does he have the energy:)))) and a terrific sense of humor that America needs. Roosevelt to had a good sense of humor.

Mike Huckabee! we can't afford to wait another 4 years, our country is in trouble, and its getting worse. What will it for our countrymen to see we need a rebirth.......if he can at least get this position maybe in 4 the country will see what we have. If McCain selects him he's got my vote. We need to be open to hear what we don't want to, instead of wanting to hear whats popular, and based on false hope. This country is being led down the road to bankruptcy as our politicians sell this countries assets off, its work force to outsourcing as they slurp over Bill Gates who is part of this problem, and others like him, and its T-Bills, how much longer before China and several others own us?

Maybe the National Emblem will be that of the Dragon someday not the Eagle.......Scary isn't it?. Just look how far England has fallen, today they don't even have the power for deportation of those who are subversive, and not born there, less they consult with the European Council or whatever they call themselves, and if they say no thats it. England is not Sovereign anymore. Maybe not in my lifetime but a one world government doesn't seem so far fetched anymore. Society will set the stage for it as people demand more an more to be their own god, and we relinquish what we know to be right, as we become more open to more an more ideologies, and the willingness to accept them. This nation has done 180o since Eisenhower. Some good has been done, but on a larger scale our govt as been self serving, we just keep getting more an more of the same only worse, and career politicians in Congress just adds to the problems, "Craig", was just an example of the problems, but we could fill a room with many who are in it for themselves, and the state of our country is proof of it.

It should have been left to the Native Americans, untouched, and this formed elsewhere, the pristine state of this country, and the good of its people then, is in unbelievable condition today. We went from the Native American to "Gangland". We can't even resovle these problems here at home but we can go for a second round, and at the cost of 4000 honorable lives, and 1.2 trillion dollars later to try an accomplish this somewhere else in the world, as in Vietman where we did more harm to those people and their country than the mind can even comprehend. If it ever was justified, Desert Storm was the time......but with the money those people have they should have prepared to defend themselves, like Israel, and at least then could have made some attempt to stop the tyrant.

This isn't a democracy, its a republic. We should do away with the electoral college, super delegates, lobbyist, even the delegates would be fine, what do we get?, electronic voting and more corruption. He was beat up on for his faith, the kind of faith and focus discussions given stage to Hillary an Obama,,,,,,now the country wants to hear what their ideas are on faith, church or religion. I like Huck's stance on health care. Nothing pisses me off more than living in a tobacco state plagued with smokers and having to be penalized for it by paying absurd premiums because of the higher than normal cancer rates in this area.

Huckabee apologizes for comments on Mormons

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican Mike Huckabee Wednesday personally apologized to rival Mitt Romney for comments he made in an upcoming New York Times Magazine article that appear to disparage the Mormon faith.


GOP hopeful Mike Huckabee's campaign says his comments on Mormons were taken out of context.

The former Arkansas governor said he apologized to Romney after the GOP debate in Johnson, Iowa.

"I said, I would never try, ever to try to somehow pick out some point of your faith and make it an issue, and I wouldn't," Huckabee said.

"I've stayed away from talking about Mitt Romney's faith," Huckabee said. "I told him face-to-face, I said I don't think your being a Mormon ought to make you more or less qualified for being a president."

In the article, a preview of which is posted on the New York Times Web site, the former Arkansas governor is quoted as asking, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

The remark came after New York Times reporter Zev Chafets asked Huckabee whether he thought Mormonism was a religion or a cult. Huckabee, a former Baptist minister, said he thought it was the former but conceded he doesn't "know much about it." The article is to appear in Sunday's paper.

Asked how Romney responded to the apology, Huckabee said the Massachusetts Republican was "gracious."

"The governor accepted the apology," Romney spokesman Kevin Madden said. "He continues to believe that this campaign should not be about questioning a candidate's faith. While it is fair to criticize an opponent's record or policy positions, it is out of bounds for one candidate to question another's personal faith."

Speaking with CNN Wednesday, Huckabee expressed disbelief that the comment has caused an uproar.

"We were having a conversation over several hours, the conversation was about religion and he was trying to press me on my thoughts of Mitt Romney's religion, and I said 'I don't want to go there.'" Huckabee said.

"I really didn't know. Well, he was telling me things about the Mormon faith, because he frankly is well-schooled on comparative religions. As a part of that conversation, I asked the question, because I had heard that, and I asked it, not to create something -- I never thought it would make the story."

Huckabee, who has surged into first place in Iowa, also reiterated that he doesn't think a candidate's religion should be an issue in the campaign.

"I don't think his particular religion is a factor in whether or not people should vote him or against him," he said. "I'd like to think that my being a Baptist isn't a factor in people voting for or against me."

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Huckabee rival for the 2008 GOP nomination, is a member of the Mormon church, officially known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Speaking Wednesday on NBC's "Today" show, Romney said, "I think attacking someone's religion is really going too far. It's not the American way."

Huckabee's comment is consistent with those that are often used to vilify the Mormon church, a spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints told The Associated Press.

In a statement sent to CNN, church spokesman Michael Purdy said, "Like other Christians, we believe Jesus is the divine son of God. Satan is a fallen angel."

"As the apostle Paul wrote, God is the Father of all," Purdy added. "That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ, however, was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind."

Huckabee's campaign says the article takes the candidate's comments out of context. Huckabee was not bashing the religion but instead was "illustrating his unwillingness to answer questions about Mormonism and to avoid addressing theological questions during this campaign," the campaign said in a statement released Tuesday night.

"Gov. Huckabee has said consistently that he believes this campaign should center on a discussion of the important issues confronting our nation, and not focus on questions of religious belief," Charmaine Yoest, a senior adviser to the campaign, said in a statement. "He wants to assure persons of all faith traditions of his firm commitment to religious tolerance and freedom of worship."

Huckabee, locked in a battle with Romney for support among the evangelical community, also took heat this month for declining to say whether he thinks Mormonism is a cult.

"I'm just not going to go off into evaluating other people's doctrines and faiths. I think that is absolutely not a role for a president," he said.

Huckabee told reporters last week he didn't watch Romney's highly anticipated speech on his faith. But he argued that he has been confronted with questions about his faith more than Romney has and that he also would make a "God speech" if given the airtime.

"I get all of the God questions at the debates, so you know when people say, 'Oh, he had to make a speech,' I'm thinking, 'Hey you know what? If you'll give me national television time, I'll make you a God speech, and I'll tell you what I'll do, I'll throw in an offering and an altar call to throw in with it.' " E-mail to a friend

BOSTON — Republican presidential hopeful Gov. Mitt Romney answered rival Mike Huckabee's upcoming published comments about Mormonism, declaring Wednesday that "attacking someone's religion is really going too far."

In an article to be published Sunday in The New York Times, Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"

Romney, vying to become the first Mormon elected president, declined to answer that question during an interview Wednesday, saying church leaders in Salt Lake City had already addressed the topic.

"But I think attacking someone's religion is really going too far. It's just not the American way, and I think people will reject that," Romney told NBC's "Today" show.

Asked if he believed Huckabee was speaking in a coded language to evangelicals, Romney praised his rival as a "good man trying to do the best he can," but he added, "I don't believe that the people of this country are going to choose a person based on their faith and what church they go to."

Huckabee has been surging in recent opinion polls, taking the GOP lead in Iowa and pressing closer to Rudy Giuliani in polling.

The former Massachusetts governor also was asked why he used the term "Mormon" only once last week in a highly publicized speech about religion in which he said he was proud of his faith.

"Actually, we prefer the name 'The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,"' he said. "'Mormon' used to be a nickname and I don't use it a lot, but now and then I do because people know what faith I'm referring to, and I talked about 'my faith' a number of times, and I don't imagine anybody is confused about what faith I have."

Huckabee's campaign released a statement claiming his remarks were taken out of context:

"In fact, the full context of the exchange makes it clear that Governor Huckabee was illustrating his unwillingness to answer questions about Mormonism and to avoid addressing theological questions during this campaign," the statement said.

The authoritative Encyclopedia of Mormonism, published in 1992, does not refer to Jesus and Satan as brothers. It speaks of Jesus as the son of God and of Satan as a fallen angel, which is a Biblical account.

A spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Huckabee's question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine.

"We believe, as other Christians believe and as Paul wrote, that God is the father of all," said the spokeswoman, Kim Farah. "That means that all beings were created by God and are his spirit children. Christ, on the other hand, was the only begotten in the flesh and we worship him as the son of God and the savior of mankind. Satan is the exact opposite of who Christ is and what he stands for."

Romney also defended his first negative ad of the presidential campaign in Iowa, where Huckabee has erased Romney's long-standing lead in the polls. The spot, which began airing Tuesday, highlights Huckabee's support for in-state tuition for the children of illegal immigrants when he was governor of Arkansas, as well as his support for their being eligible for scholarships.

"It's not negative; it's accurate," Romney said. "It's an ad that shows the differences on a very important topic, and actually, if you agree with Mike Huckabee's positions, it's a positive ad for him. If you agree with my position, it's a positive ad for me."

Romney dismissed Huckabee's rise in the polls — saying he's seen similar surges from GOP rivals John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson — but he said scrutiny will follow his rival's rise to the top tier.

"I think Mike was desperately hoping that we would get through this without people taking a close look at his positions and his record, but his record on immigration, on pardons for criminals, on reducing the penalties for meth lab dealers, on taxing and spending — he increased spending from $6 billion to $16 billion. I think those features in his record will cause those numbers to turn around," Romney said.

I think a politician's record speaks volumes compared to a pledge taken during an election. Though "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" was not a pledge it was a promise that was broken. I think conservatives have been dissappointed with big government Republicans and should be cautious of a sudden epiphany or change in values. As he remains on top, his record will be scrutinized more severly.

Something to keep in mind as Matt Drudge continues his effort to take down Mike Huckabee: Huckabee poses the most immediate and serious threat to Mitt Romney.

As John Harris of the Washington Post first reported in October 2006, Drudge has an unusually close relationship with a senior Romney strategist, Matt Rhodes:

Last year, a delegation of RNC officials flew to Miami Beach, where Drudge lives, for a dinner at the Forge steakhouse to introduce the Internet maven to Matt Rhodes, the party's new opposition research director.

During his time at the RNC, Harris suggests, Rhodes was the G.O.P.'s main conduit for funneling potentially damaging research on Democrats to Drudge.

On Pardons, his response to Sean Hannity:

HUCKABEE: Sean, I did something that governors ought to do. I took my job seriously. If I had acted in my own political interest, do you know how many clemencies I would have given? Zero. Because no governor is ever in trouble for denying one. You only get in trouble for actually granting it. But it's part of your job. And if people want a person elected president who looks after his own political interests rather than taking that job seriously and looking at each case with responsibility, I'm sure there's somebody else that will play politics with the lives of other people.

Let me mention two things — let me tell you why this isn't going to be an issue when it comes down to the presidential race. In the first place, crime went down in my state during my tenure as governor, not up. The second reason is I had to do something — and I did it — that no other candidate, Democrat or Republican, has done. And that's — I had to carry out the executions of 16 different people.

Huckabee has a "Willie Horton" in his closet. This is great fodder for the general election.

Hucakbee is a big government conservative. He's made from the same cloth as Bush. One of the biggest reasons conservatives are fed up with the Republican party is the free wheeling tax spending. Once the Republican candidates effectively communicate Huckabee's record, he'll drop in the polls.

CBS News: McCain Wants Romney to Play Nice

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Far away from the ice and snow in Iowa, John McCain campaigned with his mother Roberta, first at a speech to the Rotary Club and later they’ll ride together in a Christmas parade.

At the Rotary Club, he criticized Mitt Romney for attacking his fellow Republicans, whether via TV ads or pamphlets mailed to voters.

“I wish we could talk about our own qualifications and vision rather than attacking other candidates which apparently the Romney campaign seems to be doing rather frequently and I don’t think it helps,” said McCain. “I think the ultimate result is that we get low voter turnout and that’s the opposite of what we all want.”

McCain did have kind words for the new Republican front-runner in Iowa, Mike Huckabee: “I think Gov. Huckabee has proven that debates matter. He has performed well in debates... I like him. I have been very favorably impressed by him.”

He’s also been weighing in on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s endorsement of presidential candidate Dmitry Medvedev. Medvedev is pushing for Putin to be Prime Minister if Medvedev wins election in March.

“President Putin by the way... we all knew there was going to be a puppet show, in the succession but now we know who the puppet is.”
