I think a politician's record speaks volumes compared to a pledge taken during an election. Though "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" was not a pledge it was a promise that was broken. I think conservatives have been dissappointed with big government Republicans and should be cautious of a sudden epiphany or change in values. As he remains on top, his record will be scrutinized more severly.
