If they were cancelled why are they appearing with new "locked" symbols. I'm new at this whole experience, so what's the status of the commons and prefereds? Are they all cancelled and never to return again? Wby do we have new symbols in our accounts?

I received this message from my broker today: "Notice has been received that the plan of bankruptcy is effective and the securities are cancelled effective 3/6/12. Positions will be taken down and escrow positions have been established to facilitate possible payments in the future."

I noticed in my State Street account that the C/T's we exchanged for shares of a different CUSIP, while my shares of J's and P's were exchanged for one share.

The text of the note for the C/Ts is:
"EXCHANGED FOR ONE SHARE OF CUSIP 525ESCxxx" where the xxx is different for each C/T

The text for the J's and P's just says:
"EXCHANGED FOR ONE"

This all happened sometime today because when I checked this morning it didn't have these updates...

Thanks to all who responded to my request for info it has been very helpful. I know it's hard to be an investor who has been long on an investment see others like me come in on bad news and try to pick up shares. I understand it has happened to me. So my apologizes; but for that reason i have to look at stocks like this to make up for the other stocks that have let me down in pinkland. The list is long and toubling; hard learned lessons in the land of pinks, so you look for good companies that are on the rebound, like I said the other day about WAMU. Why can't i buy and when will i be able to buy some shares, I just finished going thru this with wamau which I owned before the "newco" came out of chapter 11 and i'm holding those share now, is this the same situation. So what is the NEWCO? Will we find out what the conversion ratio is before or after Obama is relected and Mitt Romney goes down with the sinking aristocrat ship? What's the terms of this surrender? Is it unconditional? Do we have to vote at all? I just got off the phone with the folks at Epic, and they don't know anything, just took my name and number and said they would find out more. I am just wondering; is this like a cat playing with a half dead rat? The VC toying with US POW's with Russian Roullette or making them run sprints up a hill while being shot at? Really, it's sick; and more disgusting to think there are lawyers who are profiting greatly from dragging this one out like a hangman who get's paid by the hour to stand by a dead man walking's gallow's for weeks on edge of clemency from a would be elected governor of a southern state with a rebel flag.
