Excellent. Lumen on Tuesday 7/30/24 said it had secured $5 billion in new deals from companies including Microsoft, which last quarter spent almost $14 billion in capex, mostly on AI investments. LUMN also said it was in active discussions with other customers to secure an additional $7 billion in sales as it’s seeing strong demand for its fiber, which enables secure digital connections for data centers.
These $7 billion in potential bookings appear aspirational, but could increase competitiveness for the business overall. “If AI customers are not just using [Lumen] for its unique network elements (such as its legacy spare conduits), the competition for other parts of these builds could increase." LUMN is a large customer of INFN.
Lumen stock is up 375% during the past month.
INFN is being acquired by Nokia. Nokia is getting a huge bargain for one of the world's top optical information transport companies, and this business is only becoming more important. Terabits of data transported per second is rising rapidly. There is likely to be much success for the combined entity.
The significance of this...shouldn't be overlooked-

EllaLink Completes Marine Installation and Turns to Infinera for Network Lighting
March 11 2021 - 08:00AM
GlobeNewswire Inc.
EllaLink announced today that it has successfully completed the marine installation of the industry’s lowest-latency trans-Atlantic cable system between Europe and Latin America. For the next stage of the project, EllaLink has selected Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) and its leading-edge ICE6 technology to light the network, providing a direct single hop transmission path between data centers in each continent.
Infinera’s state-of-the-art ICE6 800G coherent technology will enable EllaLink to offer advanced customer products and services, supporting over 100 Tbps between Portugal and Brazil. Furthermore, the network will support a 30-Tbps link from Portugal to Madeira, with an additional 40-Tbps path between Portugal and Morocco in the future.
Leveraging Infinera’s GX Series Compact Modular Platform, EllaLink will be able to provide its customers with the critical bandwidth needed to meet their growing data demands with industry-leading low-latency services in a single hop between endpoints. EllaLink also plans to use ICE6 to bolster the capacity on its long-haul terrestrial network between Sines, Lisbon, Madrid, and Marseille. Future network expansions will enable EllaLink to extend its submarine network to French Guiana, Mauritania, the Canary Islands, and Morocco, resulting in the most advanced submarine system connecting Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
EllaLink will also benefit from the unique innovations in Infinera’s ICE6 technology, such as long-codeword probabilistic constellation shaping (LC-PCS) and intelligent power management, which provide industry-leading performance. Infinera’s solution enables EllaLink to create products that benefit its customers by providing a wide range of accessible and flexible services, accelerating adoption of the route between Europe and Latin America.
“I am proud to announce that we have successfully completed the 6,000 km submarine cable installation, providing EllaLink with the robust system it needs to support the network through its lifetime. Infinera’s ICE6 solution is an ideal fit for us, outperforming other available 800G equipment. Coupled with our differentiated fiber routes, Infinera and ICE6 will provide us the means to offer our customers advanced products and services from day one, in May 2021,” said Diego Matas, Chief Operations Officer at EllaLink.
“Deploying Infinera’s 800G solution on EllaLink’s new network will provide a superior networking experience to their customers when connecting between Europe and Latin America,” said Nick Walden, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Infinera. “Infinera’s open optical solution will enable EllaLink to offer new and differentiated services, helping to ensure their customers receive the highest level of service.”

Buy Infinera INFN stock right now?
Overview
- Stock's down almost 50% YoY - hasn't been trading this low since Aug, 2014.
- Recent decline due to Management's weak Q3 earnings guidance on 7/28 - citing weakening demand in North America and Europe
- Following guidance, stock was downgraded by J.P. Morgan, Nomura, B. Riley & Co. and Raymond James.
INFN is at its bottom
- Weak growth is a timing issue (new product launch is late by 6 months) not a structural problem with the business.
- Q3 will be the low point for revenue. Q4 will be marginally better and the growth starts to pick up in Q1 '17
- Prior to headwinds, revenue had grown +20% the last 3 fiscal years and broke into +10% EBITDA margins this last year.
- Infinera is pushing their (proprietary) technology into new markets that are huge (metro aggregation), or young markets that are growing rapidly (60%+ GAGR) and are forecast to do so for several years (small form factor data centre interconnect).
- Significant insider buying in the open market validates upside.
Valuation
- INFN ltm and fwd EBITDA multiples are trading below its peer group: chart
- The stock current market valuation implies 0% growth (not even inflation)
- Using a highly conservative growth forecast (nowhere near historical levels) - the stock still should be trading closer to $11 based on a future cash flows. My DCF analysis: link
Due to reasons mentioned above, seems like a great entry point that could easily achieve 20-40% gains.
Love to hear what everyone thinks...
Anyone in this for bounce play today ?
Yes, I think it could double from your purchase point.
BACK IN 11.86 MOVING FASTER TODAY,LOOKING TO FLIP!!
Sold for small gain, stock moves to slow for me!!
New low of the year today, great time for buying!!!
Yep. A couple hundred.
I got the tip to watch this stock back in January when it was in the 14 dollar range but didn't buy any til a week or so back in the high 19's.
I'll be adding more now when I can as I think this one has a way to go.
This is nice. Right before earnings. I will say, sometimes I have been burned by companies releasing a nice PR before earnings. But I already bought my May $20 calls before this came out. I think their Q2 guidance will be BIG imo. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. Either way, I will find out soon. Ian, do you have any shares??

Infinera (INFN) Likely to Outshine Q1 Earnings Estimates - Analyst Blog Zacks 10 hrs ago What's in Store for Yahoo! (YHOO) this Earnings Season? - Analyst Blog Zacks 10 hrs ago MoreSUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 20, 2015) - Infinera, provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, announced that Japan Internet Exchange Co., Ltd. (JPIX), an Internet Exchange (IX) provider in Japan, has deployed the Infinera Cloud Xpress to help accommodate bandwidth growth in its network in the metropolitan Tokyo area in Japan. IX providers are a critical part of Cloud infrastructure, offering high performance connectivity services between providers, wholesalers and their end users. JPIX selected the Cloud Xpress for its hyper-scale density, operational simplicity and low power consumption.
JPIX is Japan's first commercial IX provider, established in 1997, offering a set of neutral locations that allows telecom, Cloud and wholesale service providers to exchange traffic as well as interconnect with enterprise users. The JPIX IX service is a significant exchange point for major service and content providers in Japan and plays an important role in powering the Japanese Internet backbone. With the IX service delivered by JPIX, Internet service providers (ISPs) and content providers are able to respond to continuous increases in Internet traffic as demand increases from their customers.
JPIX chose the Infinera Cloud Xpress for its small form factor, low power consumption and its ability to enable JPIX to easily scale bandwidth in 100 gigabits per second (Gb/s) increments without any changes in hardware. The Cloud Xpress provides JPIX up to one terabit per second (Tb/s) of input and output capacity in just two rack units. Further, the Cloud Xpress simplifies operations with a single fiber to deliver a 500 Gb/s super-channel of line-side capacity, a highly-reliable photonic integrated circuit, the flexibility of 10 gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 40 GbE today, and 100 GbE client side interfaces with Cloud Xpress product family in the future. The ultra-low power and rack-and-stack form factor of Cloud Xpress enables JPIX to scale while using the least amount of space and power. In addition, the Cloud Xpress is designed with a new software approach that allows it to plug into existing Cloud provisioning systems using open software-defined networking (SDN) application programming interfaces (APIs). Similar to the server and storage infrastructure currently deployed in the Cloud, the Cloud Xpress easily and rapidly integrates into existing operational processes enabling Cloud providers to scale quickly and simplify operations.
"As Japan's fastest growing commercial IX service, we continue to enhance our network to ensure the efficient flow of data in the metro Cloud for Internet users in Japan and globally," said Yoshiki Ishida, JPIX CEO. "The Infinera Cloud Xpress allows us to interconnect all of our sites while only requiring a small amount of space and power. And the platform provides us operational benefits that massively simplify what it takes to deploy the network."
"As a longtime partner of Infinera, we have been on the forefront of demonstrating their innovative networking solutions," said Mr. Toshiaki Kibe, Director and Managing Executive Officer at Nissho. "The Cloud Xpress is a world-class solution that delivers the benefits that Cloud and datacenter operators and IX providers need as they expand to establish locations across metro areas to support closer connections to customers."
"The tremendous demand for bandwidth globally puts immense pressure on the Cloud," said Stu Elby, senior vice president of Cloud network strategy and technology at Infinera. "JPIX's deployment of Cloud Xpress further underscores the need for simple, highly scalable interconnect solutions across a variety of markets."
