Just a quick question
If a quarterback was voted to the 'Pro Bowl' and by some freak of nature won their way to the 'Super Bowl'......
Can the QB opt out of the Pro Bowl to save himself from injury??
Md. (AP) -- ''R-G-3!'' was all Redskins fans needed to chant when they wanted to express their love for Robert Griffin III. For the lesser-known rookie, they opted for his whole name: ''Alf-red Mor-ris!''
It's a new generation that has Washington atop the NFC East for the first time this millennium. There's Griffin - the vocal leader, the first-round draft pick, the Heisman Trophy winner, the team captain. And there's Morris - the out-of-nowhere sixth-rounder from Florida Atlantic who merely ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns in the division-clincher and broke the franchise single-season rushing record.
''These,'' cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, ''aren't ordinary rookies.''
The Redskins claimed their first division title since 1999, beating the archrival Dallas Cowboys 28-18 Sunday night in a winner-take-all finale to end the NFL's regular season.
''I was 9 years old in 1999,'' said Griffin, sporting a black baseball cap commemorating the title. ''So I stand before you at 22, and the Redskins are the NFC East champions. To me, talking to Alfred after the game, it's the first time the Redskins have been champs since '99 and we came in and we did it in one year. The sky's the limit for this team.''
Griffin, gradually regaining his explosiveness after spraining his right knee four weeks ago, ran for 63 yards and a touchdown for the Redskins (10-6), who finished with seven straight wins after their bye week. They became the first NFL team to rally from 3-6 and make the playoffs since the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1996.
With the running game working so well, Griffin didn't have to throw much. He completed nine of 18 passes for 100 yards.
Washington will host Seattle next Sunday, the Redskins' third consecutive playoff game against the Seahawks. They lost at Seattle as a wild-card team in the 2005 and 2007 seasons.
''I've been here for the 4-12, the bad times, almost being the joke of the NFL,'' veteran defensive lineman Kedric Golston said. ''But to do this with this group of guys - the old and the new - it's good to be here.''
Certainly, Sunday night was mostly about the new. Morris had touchdown runs of 1, 17 and 32 yards and was so dominant that the Cowboys - missing their five best run defenders due to injuries - fell hook, line and sinker nearly every time the Redskins faked the ball to him. He finished with 1,613 yards for the year, topping Clinton Portis' 1,516 in 2005.
''I'll tell you what: Alfred Morris became a star tonight,'' Redskins tight end Chris Cooley said. ''He deserved it. He's a phenomenal football player.''
To which Morris answered: ''I'm never a star. I'll never be a star. Other people might think I'm a star, but I'm just Alfred.''
He won't have much choice if he keeps this up. On the Redskins' go-ahead drive in the third quarter, six plays were runs by Morris and the other three involved fakes to him. The touchdown came when Griffin faked to Morris - one of several times linebacker DeMarcus Ware was totally fooled by deception in the backfield - and ran 10 yards around left end to put Washington ahead 14-7.
The Cowboys (8-8), meanwhile, will miss the playoffs for the third straight season, having stumbled in a make-or-break end-of-regular-season game for the third time in five years.
Tony Romo threw three interceptions - matching his total from the last eight games combined. A poor throw was picked by Rob Jackson when the Cowboys had a chance to drive for a winning score in the final minutes.
''I feel as though I let our team down,'' Romo said.
Romo completed 20 of 31 passes for 218 yards, and his career is now further tainted by post-Christmas disappointments, including Week 17 losses to the Philadelphia Eagles (44-6) in 2008 and the New York Giants (31-14) last year. He's also 1-3 in playoff games.
''Your legacy will be written when you're done playing the game,'' Romo said. ''And when it's over with, you'll look back. ... It's disappointing not being able to get over that hump.''
The Cowboys played catch-up after Morris' 32-yard scamper gave the Redskins a 21-10 cushion with 10:32 to play, pulling within three on a 10-yard pass to Kevin Ogletree and a 2-point conversion with 5:50 left. But Morris' third touchdown sealed the win with 1:09 remaining.
The Cowboys also dealt with in-game injuries to receivers Miles Austin (left ankle), Dez Bryant (back) and Dwayne Harris (lower leg). Bryant, who had a torrid second half of the season despite breaking his left index finger, had four catches for 71 yards.
Washington's slow start this season prompted coach Mike Shanahan to dismiss playoff hopes and declare the remaining seven games would determine which players would be on his team ''for years to come.''
Griffin and his teammates had other plans, and the coach quickly changed his tune. Now the Redskins will be playing in January.
''All odds were against us,'' Morris said. ''But we believed in each other.''
Notes: Griffin set two more NFL rookie records. His 102.4 passer rating topped Ben Roethlisberger's 98.1 in 2004, and his 1.3 percentage of passes intercepted is better than Charlie Batch's 1.98 in 1998. Griffin had already set the league mark for rushing yards by a rookie QB (815). ... The Redskins also set a franchise record for fewest turnovers in a season with 14, fewer even than the 1982 team that played only nine regular-season games because of a players strike.

Was just checking and i cant imagine how they let Chase Daniel get away. He looked great in preseason ,while only in two of the four preseason games, he had three of the five passing preseason tds.
Not sure what went on there with him,but im not so sure he'll see any more action playing behind a premier qb like Brees in NO.
Anyway it's almost hockey season!! WOOOHOOO!!!

Did anyone see the Saints just blow up the Raiders yesterday? 45-7 man the Raiders have gone from one of the all time franchise leaders in wins to one of the worst teams that I have seen in a long time watching football! Commitment to excellence my butt!!!
Here in California the firefighters don't get to watch many of these pre season games since it is so hot and dry here right now that it attracts the nutcases with a match to come on out and light it up. Yesterday was 107 on my back porch so you have to feel sorry for those firefighters wearing those turnout suits and standing up to walls of flame.

Hey superbee, you see the game last night? Again, special teams need a lot of work, 1st string looks awesome (Cooley, 73 yd.rcpt. baby) Campbell, still don't particularly care for him. I tease my son and tell him that he (Campbell) runs like a popsicle stick, although he did seem to warm up a little. 2nd string 'O' awesome. I'm still leaning on Brennan to run the ship one day. 6'5" Mitchell another turn around grab for a TD. Mason and Alridge excellent relief runners. Can't wait for the Giants!

The Football Network is back! TFNK Low O/S moves easy
News aug 4 2009:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/TFN-The-Football-Network-bw-2432998010....
WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TFN, The Football Network, Inc.
(Pink Sheets: TFNK - News) president Jantonio Turner has completed a
reorganization revitalization plan to resurrect the company he
founded. “Since the end of 1997, I have been working diligently to
reposition the company. TFNK will evolve capitalizing on different
moneymaking opportunities,” commented Turner.
Founded by Turner in 1996, TFNK was the first attempt at creating a
national cable television network totally dedicated to football. “When
I came up with the idea in 1996, I had no idea what I was in for.
Through the assistance of many, I was able to see my dream come to
life over the next years. When I first contacted the NFL, Val
Pinchbeck who was then the head of television said to me that people
laughed at Bill Rasmussen when he first talked about his project,
ESPN, and look at how well it had done.”
True.. I think he should have quit while still a GB Packer. Now it's becoming a joke with his traipsing from team to team. Sure he loves the game, but it will catch up to him, and, in my opinion, he's going to end up quitting on a sour note.
After all of the hijinx that he pulled the last couple of years with the retire no retire BS I had to take Brett's name off of my list!
Basser
And to add to the list of classy guys (with the help of hubby):
Art Monk, John Riggins, Tiki Barber, Jerry Rice, Herschel Walker, Damion Thomlinson, Larry Zonka, Jim Kick, Mercury Morris, Joe Morrison, Chris Collinsworth, Mark Bavaro.. Alot more, but that's off the top of his and my heads..
Amen to that! He was pure class!!
LMAO about the name changes!
Walter Payton was one of those class guys that just handed the ref the ball when he scored. You never saw him pounding his chest and you sure never saw him change his name to OchoCinco! lol!!
Basser
I honestly don't remember what the Dolphins called their celebrating group..
You're right though! They were pretty strict for awhile, but when you see an idiot pretending to make a phonecall from the end zone, or some of the celebrating that looked more like flaunting, it just went over the top. There were very few who just made the TD, and walked away with class..
Yeah the smurfs were fun to watch. Wasn't it Miami that had a group of receivers called the FUN BUNCH? I don't like the big pre programmed TD celebrations but the NFL did clamp down too much on the celebrations in general. At times it looked like they wanted to become the No Fun League!!
I just read in the paper that there are going to be some 3-D broadcasts of the USC-Ohio State game shown in a couple of places. There won't be tickets to be bought and they will be picking the people that go to watch. I think that watching games in 3-D might be kind of strange but it would be cool to be able to check it out and see what it looks like on the big screen and coming out at you in the audience.
Basser
I've lost alot of respect for a few players because of what they do or don't do on the sidelines, and how they voice complaints. OR how they act in an end zone after a TD!!!!
I miss my smurfs
lol
Hi tbrod,
In my eyes it's primarily a Skins board, since I'm a Skins fan, but I was trying to honor the author of this board's wishes as best as I could, and changed it to all NFL teams.
I thought for sure the Skins were going to lose at first! Nice comeback!
Skins won, Giants lost, and oh well.. the Cowboys won too.. lol.
Ok.. time to sign off and paint.
*****Again, if anyone wants to be head Mod or another asst.. please ask ADMIN!*****
Well as a SoCal guy I have always liked the Chargers and I used to really like LT till I saw him sitting on the bench with a parka and his head down on the bench during the playoffs. Rivers and Gates were out playing their butts off on one leg apiece and LT sat on the bench sulking like a punk. Dude at least get off your a$$ and wave a towel or something, at least act like you are interested a little.
Basser
I was reading the paper this morning and they had a picture of some guys putting up a sign saying "BREAK A LEG FARVE!" I don't think that they meant that the same as when you tell an actor to have a good show! lol! I think that the Vikes will get a real good return on their money out of this deal since he will probably get hurt in the first 8 games somewhere and then they will be on the hook for 2 years worth of contract.
This really sends a message to the QB's that they have now and that is get ready to get traded to somebody else. Tavaris Jackson is going to be a good QB but I don't think it will be for the VIKES.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
Hi Superbee. Is this still primarily a redskin board? The board name threw me a little. I could only catch the 2nd half of game 2 (preseason). Looking pretty awesome on defense, special teams need a bit of work. I liked alot what I saw in Chase Daniel and Mitchell. Mason will always be good. There will be a lot of competition for final roster, should be very interesting.

TE Cooley, DE Daniels sit out Washington Redskins practice
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS (CP) – 1 day ago
ASHBURN, Va. — Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley and defensive end Phillip Daniels missed practice Wednesday but coach Jim Zorn expects both to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night.
Cooley had spasms in his lower back. Daniels was rested after having fluid drained from his left knee. He injured the knee on the first day of training camp a year ago and missed the entire season.
Offensive lineman Mike Williams, trying to make a comeback, sprained an ankle and Zorn said he'll miss practice Thursday, too.
Second-year offensive tackle Devin Clark left practice with a sore knee
The kitty is back with the helmet
Hi tbrod, Welcome to the Redskins board! Of course all teams are welcome..but we're a little partial
If anyone wants to be head Mod or another assistant.. please ask ADMIN to put you on~~~
Hi Rattle :)
I heard that the Mayor of NY asked the courts to give Burress the maximum.. and it sure looks like they did!
LOL don't get stopped in NY then for the drunk and stupid part!!
I'm honestly surprised that he was signed up so quickly.
I don't even want to think of the pain that those poor animals went through... and I have to tell you.. those 2 yrs that he was in prison flew by! I hope they were ultra-slow for him though.
LOL, have you heard about the new T-shirt?
"Vick's an Eagle, Hide your Beagle"

AHHHH!, very interesting board. Gotcha BM'd.
t
Wow! that's a lot of time for being drunk and stupid. Some peeps in NY get 5 for manslaughter.
If it were added up, it would be about a million years or so for myself. The drunk and stupid part.
PS: Thanks for taking up the cause here Superbee.
AND WHERE'S WALDO??????
As distastefull as the dog fighting and cockfighting both are there are many in the deep south that grew up with both of these. I do really hope that he did learn something from this whole thing but the thing that bothered me the most was the criminally cruel things that he did to put the dogs away if they lost. Hard to change from being a Barbarian.
Basser
I only hope that he learned his lesson. He HAD such a future and put it all at risk for what?? Maybe he's one of the lucky ones who can redeem himself, but that still remains to be seen.. in my opinion.
If people like the guy or not is no big deal cause everybody has their own pov but nobody can say that the Eagles didn't get a quality player. He is going to be a big help to them and they can use him in a lot of different ways. Some of his new teamates say he looks like he hasn't lost a thing.
Basser
LOL!! No, sadly enough they don't..
http://www.nfl.com/schedules/release
Hey do you know if the Eagles play in Cleveland this year? The guys in the Dog Pound should have a field day with Micheal Vick!! lol!!
Basser
Hi Basser
Ya, my melon football kitty is coming out of storage verrrrry soon!
I was thinking that our regular season might be better if we lose our pre-season games! Last year I think we won most of them, and we stunk in regular season.. Soooo..I can hope!
LOL the Lions are more than pathetic! I hope the Skins won't be comparable to them this year!!
Hey Bee it is just about time to break out the lime helmet kitty that asks, "Are you ready for some football?!!!!!" Well the answer to that is "You Betcha"
Skins got clobbered in the first pre season game but pre season means squat! The Lions went 4-0 last year in the pre season and how did that work out for them in the regular grind? Stafford the number one pick doesn't have much of a load on his shoulders to try and turn them around. He is going to have a lot of grass stains on his uniform by the end of the year since their offensive line is like an invitation to blast the guy they are supposed to protect!

Plaxico Burress pleads guilty to lesser charge:
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Plaxico Burress, former wide receiver for the New York Giants, pleaded guilty to a lesser weapons charge after accidentally shooting himself in a Manhattan nightclub, according to the Associated Press Thursday. Burress pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, and agreed to a two-year prison sentence, the AP reported. Earlier in August, Burress was indicted for two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment.

Did you see the first regular season game for the Skins? Grrr.. Hubby and I can start fighting early this year! LOL.. Redskins vs Giants on Sept 13th.
Also, poor Kansas City.. they've got all of us in the NFC east to play. They sure got the short straw this year!

You may be the only person who doesn't think so! Even my wife says that I am her favorite A$$hole!! lol!!
Basser
Yeah but that's ok because you're not an asshole lol!
Aw shucks too many exclamation points is a mainstay of most of my posts!!!! I guess that it is because I am just an excitable boy!!!!
ROFLMAO!!!!
wooops! Too many exclamation points here too
Oh and fivestar, don't be a coward and block my PM's. That's some funny shiite, genius. Call me a coward then block me from responding LMAO!
So sorry to see the cargo/fivestar COPI-pumping-dog-and-pony-show break up, but it's funny as hell to see you rag him over past posts and buys when you were doing the same thing. Keep it up! I love dropping in once in a while and watching the crazy people.
Hey bud, tell that idiot "mojoASS" not to use so many exclamation points when he types. That clown's like a coked up chihuahua.
Wow Snyder broke out the check book for Albert Haynsworth didn't he? They could have gotten me for a quarter of what they signed him for but I guess he will be a little more durable than I would have been. I think one play against those NFL dudes and I would be crumpled up in a heap on the sidelines lol!!!
You know thinking back I am not sure whether the GTO replacement car was a Chevette or the one that was one step up from the Chevette. They made some funny cars out of the one that we had but I can't remember the name of the line. Anyway it was a big step down from the Goat that was putting out 500 hp at one time on the dyno. All I know is that it wouldn't burn the tires in third gear!!Oh I just Googled it and it was a Vega and a fastback too boot!! Bit of a step up right there!! lol!!!
Basser
Good morning Strat
Oh my gosh!! She's such a doll! So no wonder she's got you all tied around her little finger! I love her expressions And it looks like she's going to be keeping those baby blues too.. Ohhhh boy.. your hands are going to be full when she's a teenager!! LMAO!
Oh yes, gotta blow up the last pic.. but I think you need to blow up the one right before it too..kind of a 'before and after' with the peas.. LOL!! Too funny!! From yukkkkk to bliss! I love it!
I have ton of Bee pics, but too many with me in the pics too.. lol, but I'll find some without~~ :)
Have a super day!!
