Hello investors
I have a question, maybe someone can help me with.
Is there any "market exchange price" for paper? Is it based on oil only?
Hi Masontrend....I've followed Guilin a while back. It almost seems like they have delisted or something....notmuchinformation available.
Do you them coming back tolife?

imo Guilin is looking not for greater incomes or profits but how to make this information available to everyone from the false side: they try to cheat by stock promotion, all Pink Sheets are the same:
I would advise you to take a look at this link:
http://www.pinkinvesting.com/2008-05-21/too-much-paper-guilin-paper-inc-guprpk/
Possible...but who knows. It seems quite a number of seemingly solid chinese companies have this same problem. I can think of several anyway that are trading cheap at least by American standards....even profitably and still are only trading at a PE ratio of 5 or less.
LTUS
GAII
GTEC Huge revenue increases, increasing profitability
KWBT Not sure are profitable...but clearly growing with a future.
Perhaps more...I had thought Guilen was looking for greater income and profits as well, but haven't looked that close.
Later.
Can it be that no news means that the company is preparing for something unexpected. I have seen such examples before.
No not I. Bought in at .27 and .22! Heard about this when It was in the .80's. Thought I was stealing shares when it went to the .20s. Never thought with all the potential it would get this low. Just going to hang tight and hope they atleast invest in a US PR firm to get this going again.Just cant believe their mgmt is happy with these prices, but heard they trade on three other exchanges, so maybe they dont care.
Are you making an observation or are you saying that you are buying shares? Just curious.
I've mostly just been watching here, but I remember thinking during the Lebed-athon that it sounded like there was long term potential.
Agreed. No news is usually no news...it almost seems that their use of Lebed might have been a last gasp to access some liquidity.
I haven't owned any Guilin...but for many this was another educational lesson.
Couple boards that will help make one wiser the next time:

I think that something is wrong in this company. I'm watching it for a while and I don;t like what I see in here.
Tough to say RandyKsd. Been so many months now of no communcations from the company. Someone on Google said that they had a fraud issue with their transfer company or someting to that extent. From all DD, they do seem to be legitimate but it's not uncommon for companies to spring up with a fancy website and no business behind it. However, GUPR had previously been SEC registered and timely on their filings. Perhaps this website update is an indication that they are getting their affairs in order and will soon post financials to the investment community. I have a small position but have been in for awhile at a much higher price. If news or financials break, I will add more to average down. The Market Makers had a pretty big spread on it today and they never budged from the ask at .09.
I am sticking with it at these prices. I am sure by now they have to realize where they are trading at here in the US. I know they are on three other exchanges. All they need to do is hire a PR firm to build it back up again.Love to see this back in the .30's atleast soon!
Wow...this has sure come down a long ways.....I haven't even checked on it for a couple months.
What are your thoughts?
GUPR has revamped their entire website:
Much nicer, still under construction and they have added an investor relations tab. Hopefully some contact info and up to date financials will be forthcoming.
Financial finally reported today. $26k in revs. $2600 in earnings. Woo Hoo.
Ok, that's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the reply.
EYES
The "E" is added by the SEC when the filings of the company are delinquent....over 30 days late. RK
Why the ticker symbol change? Now GUPRE? Still no quarterly filed with SEC. Any comments or speculations?
I am with you on that boilerfan....things look to be lining up nicely
Call it just a GUT feeling, but I think this thing is ready to bust out!
Hmmm... down quite a bit today on pretty decent volume. Anyone seen any news out of this that would drive it down so much? Still several weeks out of earnings...
This should gain a base at the .60 level, just before all the pumpers shot from there to the 1.50 level.
Looks interesting boilerfan.
This stock is way over sold!
Eva at investor relations said that the 2007 year end financials will be out sometime before the March 31st due date.
Looks like a few got inpatient and dumped today! Thought they would have done that before first of year for tax writeoff. Finally jumped in though at .27! Alot further of a drop than I thought it would go, but will roll the dice on this one. Since they are an OTC stock instead of PINK, Trust more that they are a reporting company and their numbers do look good!
Here's the reply I received from Eva at GUPR IR. Quick, only 2 about an hour and a half to get a response. At this point, I'm just glad there's a real live person there...
"We are really sorry about the sharp decrease of our stock price in these days. But for now, as far as I know, the company's business is running well and we are still profitable. We also don't know the reasons. Now what I can assure you is our management team is aware of this situation, and there is nothing related to our operational business.
And for the aquisition of Feitao, I have not received any message from China regarding that, the management team are still in an active negociation process. Once We reach any deal, we will do the press release as soon as possible."
Sorry for your inconvenience.
Regards,
Eva
Just shot off an email to investor relations to see if anyone is minding the store. Been radio silence for awhile there at GUPR and wanted to see if someone replies. Will share any feedback with the board if any received. Would like especially to know if the aquisition of Feitao Paper went through...
Been looking at this for a while myself. From everything I read, it looks to be a solid company. From my previous posts, thought anything above .60 before the pumping was too high. If it stays here and forms a bottom in the .30 range, will look to buy. Little co.'s are allgetting clobbered right now.
Anyone looking for a bounce? The numbers looked good.
I had heard through a backdoor about the push on the stock, but it sure flopped afterwords which means the company who pushed it (pump) moved on, not a good sign. I understand the company pumps Chinese companies and were involved with IOGH, which appears to be a scam. This doesnt mean the pumpers are scammers, but makes you wonder.
Well I missed the first one, and wondering if this company has some good pr in the tank.
Thoughts?
Good non-biased analysis of Guilin Paper Company
I guess I am continuing to research Guilin Paper to at the very
least set my mind at ease about buying this stock. I was doing a web
search for LITA brand paper which Guilin says is one of their most
popular paper products when I came across this analysis of Guilin.
I could be wrong but I did not see any indicators that the report is
biased

Company Description
Established in 1937 with a long and solid history, Guilin Paper
(GUPR.OB) is engaged in paper making and paper pulp production. The
company's products include high quality kraft and specialty paper
under the well-respected "Lita" brand. With its aim of "Quality First,
Reputation First", GUPR's products have won many prizes including
"Guangxi Famous Brand Products" in 2001 and "Guangxi Famous
Trademarks" in 2004. It is the first paper-making company in Guangxi
province to obtain the ISO 9001 certification.
The company is situated in Lipu County near Guilin, where timber and
water resources are plentiful. But the company is well aware of the
need to implement sustainable practices. To this end, GUPR embarked in
2007 to create greater efficiencies through upgrading technology,
resulting in a 38% reduction in water consumption and a 27% reduction
in waste water discharge. In addition, the company also reduced its
solid waste and cut its sulfur dioxide emission by a whopping 80%.
Guilin Paper has its own power generation plant that is able to supply
the power-intensive operations with electricity at 1/3 below market
price. It also has its own in-house recycling plant.
The management has recently announced that their goal is for the
company to become one of the ten largest paper producers in China,
continuing to explore green technology and sustainable methods of
production.
Current Price: $0.95
52-Week Range: $0.40-$1.80
Evaluation
While the company has been growing at a leisurely pace in the past (in
an industry that is projected to grow at 9.2% for the next 5 years),
it is positioning itself for a higher rate of growth. Apart from
increasing efficiencies and upping brand awareness both domestically
and overseas, it is looking to make selective acquisitions. This is
especially important when you realize that the company is currently
operating at its full capacity of 100,000 tons. This strategy is
already in effect. Just last week, it offered to buy Feitao Paper,
whose 2006 revenues was approx. $5m and net income $0.43m. In
addition, to diversify its income streams, Guilin entered into an
agreement with Dabu Paper to sell wood pulp, supplying up to 20% of
Dabu's pulp requirement. I think this is but a taste of what is to
come.
Valuation
This is an established and profitable company but not considered a
traditional "high-growth" stock because of the industry it is in.
However, the company's strategy of acquiring companies as well as new
technology bodes well for investors. The company's improvements in
efficiencies have translated into high net income growth despite
moderate revenue increases, as illustrated in its Q3 results:
9-Month Revenues: (2006) $22.09m (2007) $23.38m - a 5.8% growth yoy
9-Month Net Income: (2006) $2.55m (2007) $3.80m - a 49.0% growth yoy
Growth in the last quarter was even more impressive:
3-Month Net Income: (2006) 0.66m (2007) $1.67m - a 153% growth yoy!
With these numbers I would certainly consider GUPR to be a growth
stock, and this is before accounting for any acquisitions.
EPS: (2006) -0.01 (2007) 0.11* (2008) 0.17*
P/E: (2007) 8.6x (2008) 5.6x
PEG: 0.29*
* Based on C.O.P. estimates.
Investment Risk: Moderate.
Bottom Line: Accumulate.
My Position: None.
Randy - I am not chasing stocks here but another GUPR owner in replying to one of my postings on google gupr board made mention of other Asian stocks that were down within the last few days and one of them he mentioned was MYST - this one definately looks interesting - see what you think
Tim, Look down the list to post #50. I am on the sidelines....though if I had some free capital, I would be seriously looking at Guilin Paper. :)
Randy you stated "When a company demonstrates with its track record profitability, growth in revenues and longevity, institutional investors, hedge funds and investment bankers will generally be getting or will already be on board."
I think GUPR has been around since 1992 and as far as I can tell they have been displaying profitability - although I have only been able to find how they have been performing since they came on the U.S. market recently.
If you went to the google message board and followed the link I posted for the article on the paper industry in China you see GUPR is in a an expanding and profitable industry. Usually when this is the case even the share price of companies performing poorly increases because the growing industry carries them
The Bill Mathews philosophy is exactly what I have been following except I got this philosophy from some key points I read in other investment books
I guess my impatience comes from being somewhat naive when I went into this whole investment game about 3 months ago and
thinking the turnaround time was a lot quicker than it apparently really is. But I am still puzzled why when both the U.S. markets and the Asian markets did well today all 3 of my stocks (GUPR, ATS, and FSN) were down today?
I feel somewhat better though when I see intelligent people like yourself are invested in the same company - you are a GUPR stockholder right?
Tim, Most of my financial knowledge has come by experience. Unfortunately, I've had to learn some-or maybe I should say most things the hard way. As for my "strategic" knowledge, I have seen a number of deals come together and fall apart. As I try to understand and learn, I suppose some is hypothetical, but it makes sense to me.
As for Guilin Paper it is at the point where its own merits will determine the share price. There is the "marketing" aspect of a stocks value, but it always costs something for marketing. If the company or some affiliates are paying someone to spam--or pump and dump, it generally means that shares are being added to the public float and so in inherently diluted. There are some great articles on qwoter.com about spamming and how it often is done without the company's knowledge or permission.
When a company demonstrates with its track record profitability, growth in revenues and longevity, institutional investors, hedge funds and investment bankers will generally be getting or will already be on board. It's sort of the nature of the game. Finding value and being patient for growth is hard but in the end the safest and most rewarding type of investing.
As for my investment philosophy, I pretty well adopt Bill Mathews "Cheap Investment" philosophy. (he has a website and the number 1 rated investment newsletter for like the last 5 years) Look for low priced stocks (generally under $5 a share) with these criteria: 1. Growing revenues and earnings (or at least shrinking losses) 2. A healthy or at least managable balance sheet (not going to need overly dilutive financining in next 6-12 months) 3. Trading at or near it's 52 week low.
Later.
