Who ever chose them, forgot deepfried Prairie Oysrers.
Not happy.
It is. But they have to be counted. And I don't know who chose the entries...
I did try to vote, but couldn't figure Instagram out. It really wasn't 't very clear.
I thought it was based on votes.
lol, I wonder who IS doing the judging. I assume it's Serious Eats staffers, but I don't think they've explained.
How do I sign up to be a judge in this contest? πππ
It's really corn on the grill that I had in mind. I have a hard time using tongs with corn for some reason.
Yes, they are. And so are a whole bunch of other pretty irresistible things. Chicken Nuggets were eliminated, but that's no real loss.
Apple Fritters and Fried Chicken still in the race π
LOLOLOLOL!!
Starch Madness is moving quickly.
I would. But I don't have a grill.
No worries, they were cheap and I do need new fireplace gloves as the pair I'm using is 2 left hands. I burnt holes in both of the right hand gloves. 1 last year and 1 this year. These will also protect my wrist better.
They do have multiple layers and look legit fireproof. So I won't make you work it off by pumping my favorite tickers πππ
But it's time to catch up with Starch Madness. I haven't been paying attention:
https://www.seriouseats.com/starch-madness-2025-11678803?hid=fad5c526ddce274b179d9d966a74cb9d69b23514&did=17054974-20250328&utm_source=seriouseats&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=seriouseats_newsletter&utm_content=032825&lctg=fad5c526ddce274b179d9d966a74cb9d69b23514&lr_input=aefeb373510efb98d7a8451c2d58a49ba275040c17bf3c0b66e2567b82c1507d
Oh, I'm sorry. I feel sort of responsible...
I finally opened the gloves and they are not going to work for handling food directly. I didn't read close enough to understand that they are not all silicone on the outside. They are only silicone where you see the colored pattern. The rest of the outside layer is a type of woven material and the fibers from that material are all over the silicone. I can wipe it off or maybe rinse it off, but I suspect that more fibers will break loose, and that the woven material isn't liquid or oil proof, so they have no use for directly handling food.
They were only $10, so I'll just use them with my wood burner next winter, and fire pit this summer.
Don't buy this brand for moving hot dogs on the grill.
I see. Here, Bob is usually your uncle.
Bob's the mother. It's a Canadian thing. ... eh.
That looks great! And Bob looks great, too!
Create a board 'my piss may stink, but not my sh*t'
They do stink. I roast them on the BBQ in the summer, but in the winter, fans on high and they get steamed. I love the damn things. They also make a great slaw.
We are getting an ice storm later today and through the weekend. That seemed like an excuse for me to make bread ........ so I did.
May I present, my 2 1/2 lb French sourdough sandwich loaf.
Born 30 minutes ago. Mothers name was Bob.
I believe onions have that effect on me and I've noticed it probably the next morning.
My wife loves roasting brussel sprouts which my son and I find the smell of them cooking objectionable. He'll get home from work and say so mom made brussel sprouts again.
We should form some sort of club.
I stink after it.
It's genetic. Some of us don't have the enzymes that stops the smell.
I stink after it.
It's rated #1 on Wirecutter which comes free with my sub to the NYT along with the Cooking Section.
I've been enjoying them...until I urinate.
That's odd. We have them about once a week and never have a problem.
Ah! Now I can see the usefulness of them for outside grilling. Hot dogs are always a pain to turn on the grill. But definitely not for indoor cooking due to taking them on and off.
WOW!! That's a really exceptional price!!
LOLOLOL!! I'm sure you'll LOVE 'em!!
I can imagine your egg skillet would be very good. And very nonsticky.
Shop Rite has been selling asparagus pretty regularly for $ 1.99 a pound. I've been enjoying them...until I urinate.
But today I got some asparagus for $2.50 a pound
I bought them for outside grilling. I think they will work nicely to turn corn, which can be slow and slippery with tongs, or maybe flip hot dogs with my hands. At over 1400Β°F rating, they should be good for hot metal too, but I'm skeptical of 1400.
If they suck, Janice will owe me $10 ππ€ͺ
I have one of those. But I like the ugly ones. Yes they do get dirty and I'll just throw them in the wash.
The cuisinart non stick has held up quite well. I also have a Cuisinart stainless steel and a cast iron skillet the latter being at least 80 years old.
For eggs I use this.

They look like fire gloves for a nascar driver.
LOL. I can't imagine any cook wearing them in the kitchen. But they may be good for yard work.
I hear you. I don't keep a lot of different kinds of cheese around for weeks or months. I generally eat what I buy pretty quickly.
But today I got some asparagus for $2.50 a pound!
There are, but nothing I need. I still haven't opened the package with the gloves that I bought the other day. I really have everything that I need...except a swimming pool π

Oh yes! I've used them for that, too!
I have similar silicone mittens. They are dishwasher safe and also work great to transfer a hot roast or bird from pan to serving plate. Just pick it up carefully with both hands and rinse the gloves when done.
I don't do grilling! But I do have a pair of black silicone oven gloves that go halfway up my arm. Useful for some oven stuff, and they actually protect me from the oven itself.
Mine aren't these--these have a cooler looking silicone part--but they're the same size:
Red might be nice:

I wonder why it's called an "ugly" potholder. Looks attractive enough to me. It'd be better in black, though. Wouldn't have to be washed as often.
Mine are kind of like these:
https://www.extraingredient.com/product/kaf-potholder-in-solid-color
But they're black, and came as a pair. Got 'em at Amazon.
That looks like a pretty nice one. But I don't have any nonstick pans. Some of the coating that makes them nonstick is toxic, though not insanely, unless you're a bird. If you are, you may die.
I did have one once, and it was nice. But the coating peeled off after a couple of years. Its demise was hastened my throwing it in the dishwasher. I probably shouldn't have done that. But the one you have will eventually lose its coating:
Is its nonstick coating durable?
According to customer reviews, the nonstick coating is durable when taken care of, but will eventually wear off with extended use.
The Experts usually say nobody needs a regular nonstick pan except maybe for eggs. Most seem to recommend well-seasoned cast iron. I have never had any luck with cast iron. It's stupid, but I seem always to manage to screw up the seasoning. So I use either enameled cast iron or good quality stainless. Those same Experts are now recommending carbon steel. Like this:
https://madeincookware.com/blogs/carbon-steel-vs-non-stick?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=21143438588-157690176902&utm_term=-&utm_content=695193346250&audience=pros&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADIzZfegydK-VwCVT_L7JdRVeYjjC&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4v6-BhDuARIsALprm32ypB2xgmgS9NmQbCgO_JCAch3GMjtUr-F06hYSX10G97bbyOePE8EaAuAOEALw_wcB
That article will explain just about everything that characterizes regular nonstick and carbon steel. It seems many prefer carbon steel to a traditional cast iron skillet because it's significantly lighter.
God, I would LOVE to have that stove!
I think she gets a commission on every pair sold.
But you NEED those gloves.
So do you have a pair?
These are the potholders I use and a go to kitchen towel. The towel I usually keep over my shoulder so I can grab it while cooking or cleaning up.
https://www.extraingredient.com/product/ugly-potholder
The store is loaded with all sorts of kitchen gadgets tableware spices and cookware.
https://www.extraingredient.com/category/potholders
I've been cooking so long my fingers have more tolerance for hot items then my wife's. And I have had a couple of hash marks on my arms from the oven or racks.
This is our go to skillet that is used the most.

lol, that really iS an irresistible price!
You'll get so MANY compliments!!
Yes. As you say, they all look good...
