I agree.I'm locking up what I have now....
I was wondering the same thing. Share price holding up, a bit of "sell on the news" reaction..
Has Newmont always conducted the company's metallurgical tests? I know that Matthewson used to work there, but is this something new -- or was the testing for a specific reason?
Second question --- the last time the price got to these levels it hit $1.something and declined fast and far soon thereafter--anyone believe it will continue the same pattern until they are bought out?
No snark please.
Nothing,but Good News here!
I'm not selling a single share before a buyout North of $5--+++

New press release, with all info positive. I expect a dip tomorrow before a considerable rise based on the news. If it goes down all day tomorrow, assume it is just smart money accumulating. I personally expect it to hit a dollar soon thereafter.
A post on Stockhouse suggested more drilling results will be out by end of month, and new drilling will start in late January/early February.
I think all junior miners rich enough to drill, and put out some potentially good updates, are likely going to benefit greatly from this renewed optimism for the miners...
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssss! Got lucky again...
Yes and another big volume day Friday. I've been grabbing some here and there. Seems to be good support here at .60 ish.
seems to be in an accumulation phase right now...
I was expecting it to trade a bit lower by now but it seems to be holding here. I am going to start grabbing a few now and then and see what happens. Good luck.
Tax loss selling seems to have hit GSV and PLG right at the end. Didn't hit em as hard as kaminak, BAA, VGZ, and some others -- which were screaming buys a week or 2 ago -- but GSV probably deserved the better treatment. At 60 cents, among the safest buys in the junior sector IMO -- though I wish I had some idea how big its deposit is.
I expected a bit more tax loss selling. Still waiting.
Tax loss selling taking its toll on the share price. Its getting close. I think I'm going to start grabbin' some on weakness.

Fresh Assays:
Gold Standard Ventures (TSX:V.GSV, Stock Forum), one of our TCR 8, has two more core assays from Railroad in Nevada:
See:
www.stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2013/11/05/gold-standard-ventures-expands-north-bullion-zone-s-lower-breccia-deposit-to-
The takeaway is straightforward: the two fresh assays in Nevada have patterns in the lower breccia zone that are found throughout the deposit. Chief geologist David Mathewson says the potential gold and silver deposit runs about 70 meters east-west and about 70 meters north-south.
A hole in progress looks like it could bring a bumper crop of high-grade mineral to the Railroad project, near Nevada's Carlin Trend and the Rain District.
As part of the so-called North Bullion central zone, the hole in progress is an offset to one that intersected 98.1 meters of 3.26 grams gold per metric ton. GSV shares in Canada and USA are behaving well. We could see some powerful data in the next two weeks.

Sincere apologies for jinxing the stock today. Today's news release, to me, wasn't at all negative, so today's action is just further proof that trading on the gold sector confounds me.
the only exploratory miner where it seems to pay to go long right now... I know of no other that are holding onto their gains... I personally threw far too much into VISTA (attracted by its bizarrely low price) and it's just getting pushed into a deeper hole... Given the previous volatility of GSV in the summer, and it's current, continued ascent, either the German market is the market that all gold miners should target, or else some truly great things are happening...
No mention of GSV in the last 2 Calandra reports btw, though NuLegacy (another Nevada miner) is getting a plug.

Very nice day. Volume building, looks like its going to move higher.
I wonder what they found in the lab. We have to be close.
I just opened it and am about to begin reading. I was thrilled to see that benan posted the PDF!
Super Interview!....thanks--
Added that one to my files...what a Great Education in Geology!

Interview with pdfs in English or German translation (definitely getting lots of hype in Germany).
GSV has not formally announced many of the things which have been mentioned in Calandra's updates -- so more catalysts/press releases are forthcoming.
As for personal price target, it depends on the news. If I don't know why it's going up (like MIDAS from .80 to 1.20 in August), I need to start learning to cash in some profits when the stock seems to start a downward drift.
That said, I reckon the best thing to do is have a thesis and stick to it (which I often have failed to do).
I had a thesis on Belo Sun, bailed on it when it dropped under 40 cents, and now it's up 40 percent today. Ditto for another miner last week. If you read press releases, and drill reports, and everything seems good to great, and the miner seems heavily undervalued, they likely are. Trust yourself (or an analyst you believe in) over the daily market fluctuations.
Thats a difficult question, and is predicated by the timeframe-
However,I'll climb out on a limb and tell you that I'm not selling before the entire district is explored which will take some three to four years at least.
And I don't intend to sell for anything under $5 perhaps 2x that.

What do you guys have as a target to sell, if you don't mind me asking -- it's the New Yorker in me!
I missed the last sell at a buck! Do you see any immediate good news on the horizon for gsv that would propel it into new territory--- $1.25+? Thanks!
I tend to agree with that-
Looking to double down yet again-
Perhaps as early as this week.

Well, I wish I sold at a buck. Calandra's latest reports have focused on Colombia miners, one of which (Red Eagle) jumped 53 percent in the last hour or two of trading in Canada.
Re:GSV, it has about 250,000 shares being shorted (according to recent Northern Miner update), and I think it may drop back to the 70 cents area (if gold prices are not kind next week). Should that happen, I'll buy a lot. I am more comfortable with GSV than with almost any other exploratory miner, and I think it will be acquired by end of next year.
Despite falling a bit, as of late, it does seem to have held a lot of its recent gains, and I don't think we will see shares for 59 cents again.
We all sold at a buck.... now we are waiting...
Have a good weekend.
Where did you all go? Silent all week. I guess there's nothing new to report---anyone? The $6.77 is back....
Predictions for this week?
I found this today:
looks we've held despite being removed...

Also saw this in German. It was published about 13 hours ago. I looked it over and some of it looked familiar -- as in a repub, but who knows, it could be new. I don't know German so....
Anyone know German?

Thanks, that is interesting.
New Calandra update from Thursday (found via his Twitter page:
BURON, CALIFORNIA — GOLD STANDARD VENTURES shares in Canada and the USA, along with an ancillary listing in Germany, are rising smartly this week.
As much as 50 percent in several days for GSV (in Canada and USA and 6AZ in Germany).
This is a heady move that is linked to: 1. Jonathan Awde, Dave Mathewson and the rest of the team are narrating the Railroad story for investors in the USA; 2. TCR confirmed via BCSC filing in Canada that Agnico-Eagle is the 4.9 percent owner of GSV shares from the August 2, 2013, placement; 3. at least two companies, one of them AEM, is on site this week and next near Elko, Nevada; one of them is said to be more interested in the copper than the gold; and 4. Gold Standard is disseminating its data releases and news in Germany, where it has a listing.
Says a company spokesman, Luke Norman, “We have paid for our news releases to be translated in German and disseminated on German mainstream press locations.” That translation happened Oct. 2.
IR-World, the distributor in Austria, runs or has relationships with a flock of European newsletters and investor outreach agencies. Its venue is http://www.ir-world.com/en/index.html. The newsletters associated with the service are seen at the bottom of the home page and include German sites such as http://www.smallcapinvestor.de/index.php?home.
Just as importantly, the Austria firm, headed by Joaquim Brunner, uses partners whose networks have influence in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. See: http://www.ir-world.com/en/partner.html.
I thought our TCR audience would like to keep up with the marvellous yet almost instantaneous rise in GSV shares. Until last week, the only regular coverage of the shares, aside from two or possibly three brokerage houses/investment banks, including Macquarie Securities in Canada, has been TCR — The Calandra Report.
As I write this, the shares have reached $1 USA and higher in Canada. Much of the volume is from North America. Germany trading is brisk today, as much as 420,000 shares with the euro-share price rising 13 percent.
The trade volume today in Germany is multiples greater than the usual amount.
I am patient and intend to hold my shares, which I began buying in October 2011 after having seen Railroad with Mr. Mathewson and Mr. Awde.
If German-language distribution of GSV’s above-average drill assays (September) can goose a 50 percent gain in a junior mining stock, then perhaps the Munich Gold Show in early November is worth revisiting?
I don’t think so. Says Mr. Norman, a co-founder of Gold Standard Ventures. “I’d like to think we have geologists seeing gold oxide at one of our holes.”
That would be RRB13-1 AT BALD MOUNTAIN, which was released to the public October 2. That was another big-volume day in Germany trading, by the way.
GOLD AFICIONADOS, and at least two bank analysts, have pointed to the heap-leach characteristics of the latest assay.
For our part, we continue to wait for geologist Dave Mathewson and team’s work at vectoring closer to the source of the Carlin-style deposit’s sedimentary hosted gold, with silver and copper. I am in until GSV sells the asset or the entire company.
Either way is fine. I'd be devastated though if i got caught in that window of selling high and waiting for the dip to get back in and something really happened! i guess i prefer a bit of a pullback so i can add more.
If I read the report correctly, GSV is meeting with another potential suitor next Wednesday. I'm curious how the one this week went?
Shares are still being accumulated imo. I think it will trade even or slightly up on the day. Good luck
I'm still holding...if it continues to fall I'll pick up more shares. Have a great weekend!
Very limited supply of shares for sale below a buck. Folks are holding their breath and shares in anticipation....
Have a great weekend and good luck!
Another good volume day. Over $1 briefly.... Tomorrow could be a big day...
Look at the ask! $6.77!
Great day! It's a small group but a great one! Thanks for the info today gsv'ers!
Amateurs control the open, pros control the close.
The close was bought.
I think we will know why soon. IMO
Good luck everyone,, all 11 of us who follow this board. LOL
I knew I should have bought more a couple of weeks ago. Now I find myself deciding if I should buy into the chase. You provided me w sound advice. I'm watching closely and if it pulls back to 82-83 I'll pick up more shares. I hate those situations when you already own shares and missed the next buy before it started to run and then find yourself rooting for it to go up and down.
Would you say there is a price I shouldn't chase past? Normally I'd just let it go but Callandra's report implied there would be a new investor either today or next week! I'm letting this drive me a bit nutty!
The price is approaching a bit of resistance near .90. I would wait until end of day and see what the buyers do. If they begin to lose patience and slam the offer, there is more to this move than momentum off the bottom. Volume has been building steadily for days. The accumulation algo is still running..
I think we blow through .90 by the end of day. All in my opinion and I could be wrong.
I wish you would have asked three weeks ago.
Good luck.
Ha! i love that sentence you used: "...much easier to make money on crushed miners." Such low expectations that any increase is respectable!
This was my first time investing in the juniors. The story was just too compelling to not invest! However, I like your idea and I will do some research.
I read the Callandra report yesterday and found a fascinating company (NX*) that is in the process of getting a patent for an artificial retina that can help restore vision for blind people.
You don't need to just buy gold miners with good stories. I find it much easier to make money on crushed miners that seem like they've reached a point where they can go nowhere but up. FOr one, it's just easier to respect any profits made from them, as you don't go in with the assumption that the sky's the limit.
Good points!
If I read the 6-k correctly, the company has 83,820,109 common shares (as of December 31, 2012). Apparently their governance rules differ from the United States as a foreign company, and issuance of common shares could result in a 20% increase in the number of outstanding shares -- thus dilution! That's what I found about the share structure, which doesn't sound so good.
Is this what you found for the share structure?
A billion dollars for 1000 oz. - that's a lot of metal!
And as far of the cost to extract -- it's difficult to predict at this point and that's what the company said in their report as well.
Overall I like the company a lot and I am kicking myself for not buying back in the .50s. I thought about it every day! Mid 70s I am comfortable buying but 80s I get nervous.
I look at GSV this way-
A million ounces at $1000/oz. is a Billion Dollars!
How much will it cost them to extract and process those million ounces?
There's the probability of multiples of that million ounces # imo.
The mine is in the U.S. in the most mining friendly State of all fifty-namely Nevada!
You also need to consider the share structure here.

Would appreciate your thoughts on how you would approach buying at the current price vs. possible run or pullback.

Gold Standard Ventures acquired the Railroad District in 2009, and is now in the process of applying modern-day exploration techniques and models to discovering new gold deposits in this target-rich District. Carlin-style deposits are in evidence with about 150 thousand ounces of gold at 2+grams grade discovered from surface outcroppings and limited, previous shallow drilling. Targets below 400 to 500 feet remain undrilled and many targets obscured by structural complexity and cover have yet to be drilled. Gold Standard Ventures has identified several new target opportunities and is in the process of assessing these targets with both reverse circulation and core drilling.
