As of today October 9th the worst recommendations I can find are holds.... FDX has bull written all over it..
STANDARD & POOR'S ... Strong buy recommendation...
5 stars..
That's Fedex always thinking ahead... adding Wi-Fi to all its FEDEX OFFICE locations...
FedEx Office (formerly FedEx Kinko’s), an operating company of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), today announced the introduction of free, unlimited Wi-Fi access at most of its U.S. locations. As of today, customers will find the free Wi-Fi service provided through AT&T* at more than 1,000 FedEx Office Print & Ship Center locations throughout the U.S. The remaining rollout of the company’s free Wi-Fi service is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month. Provided courtesy of FedEx Office, this new offering will help busy professionals connect to the Internet from a location that is conducive to working on the go and offers convenient access to business support services.
Free Wi-Fi access is a significant resource for mobile professionals and small businesses, many of which already rely on FedEx Office for printing and shipping services each day. In fact, according to a March 2010 survey conducted by AT&T, nearly eight in ten small businesses (79 percent) report using Wi-Fi connectivity to conduct business-related activities. Another 68 percent say they use Wi-Fi-enabled hotspots more now to access data than they did two years ago.
“How and where people are working has evolved dramatically over the past several years thanks to technology innovations,” said Kim Dixon, executive vice president and chief operating officer, FedEx Office. “At FedEx Office, we continuously strive to enhance the customer experience in our stores. We are delivering on that commitment with the launch of free Wi-Fi service at more than 1,600 locations across the country, while better meeting the needs of small business and mobile professional customers who work remotely.”

Could be back over a $100.00 PPS if they do hit double digits on their profit margins imo..
FedEx Corp. (FDX) said Wednesday that the company's big express delivery business is back on track for double-digit profit margins, after the recession sapped strength from the unit over the past couple years.
Dave Bronczek, chief executive of FedEx Express, stopped short of putting a timeframe around the goal, but he said the unit's margins will improve as international shipments continue to account
for an increasing portion of revenue and as the economy boosts demand and pricing.
"We remain firmly committed to driving our operating profit at FedEx Express into double-digit territory," he said, speaking during FedEx's investor and lender meeting in Memphis, Tenn.
The express unit's profit margin hit 9.4% in FedEx's 2007 fiscal year, but subsequently slumped to 4.7% in fiscal 2009 and 5.2% in fiscal 2010 after "the global economy took a freefall," Bronczek said, although he added that those margins were still "respectable."
Regardless, he said the company is committed to increasing the numbers "with the economy back on a growth track."
He said the goal is being helped by what has been improving yields -- a broad measure of pricing -- as well as average package weights.
FedEx Express said yields in its important international priority segment have climbed 4% in the past year.
"We've reversed declining yields," Bronczek said. Pricing has been "more stable [and] more rational than I've seen it in some time."

Getting a bonus! Woohoo! (they were suspended almost 1 and 1/2 yrs ago along with the 401k match and raises). FedEx is definitely making money and good management decisions for that to happen. Also, good financial indicators are that they announced about 2 months ago that dividends are going to be paid to share holders and back in Feb, they partially reinstituted the 401k match. Things are definitely coming back around and that's a good thing. Maybe a small raise will be coming too. (rumor control on the raise item though)
If I get a bonus next month I will let this board know. That will tell you how strong of a comback we have made at FDX.
Yes, FedEx is doing great things. Hit hit a very low last year because of gas prices, hopefully stay good.
This stock should be at 100.00 a share
anyone out there???
FedEx Express and FedEx Ground: FedEx Express hires "OWNER OPPERATORS" to deliver the ground shipments, so basicly courier X must have sent your pakage to the USPS not FedEx. They do this to keep prices low for non express shipments. I think this is bad for FedEx because it has the name brand that customers love and service they expect.. Until they can use their Express drivers to deliver ground shipments, this may continue to be an issue. I do feel that FDX loves and takes great care of the investors.
I think you are right Bronx, FDX is a great company. People love FedEx better than UPS. The one issue they still need to resolve is the whole 2 different trucks for Express & Ground. Cant stand that.
I'm close to many people that work for fed ex and I can tell you guys this: it will be bigger than ups. Ups is going down fast and in my area they are closing there doors. Fed ex will take over the area completely and I see this happening all over the world. A good solid buy here...
My recent experience with Fedex will be my last. Fedex has a ground service and also a smart post service. So retailers offer Fedex Ground but it's really something called smart post.
So you think you will receive your item fairly quickly because it's Fedex. Well my experience makes a joke of Fedex ground since my item now after a week has been passed through a system involving Fedex containers hauled around and some items like mine to small to bother with passed off onto USPS. So after a week of searching for my item Fedex says they gave it the post office and the post office says they don't have it.
In the meantime I paid more than priority mail for this great Fedex service which involved shipping an item which weighed about 1 1/2 lbs a distance of about 90 miles.
Regardless Fedex Smart post I'm told by Fedex can take up to 12 days. This is for an item if shipped USPS Priority I would have had in 3 days but probably in less and for less money.
What's the deal well apparently the retailer gets some really cheap rate with Fedex and then that makes Fedex look like an idiot because I don't know what the deal is and the retailer says well we shipped it Fedex Ground. However they didn't tell the truth and the bad guy is both of them. If I were Fedex I wouldn't ruin my name with this crap and the real idiot is USPS who is helping out Fedex pull this crap off and taking money away from themselves.
FedEx Ground Names Entrepreneurs of the Year
FedEx Ground, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), has recognized three independent contractors whose businesses provide package delivery services for the company with one of its highest honors. Nick Ciardiello of Metuchen, N.J., Jason Keefe of Summerville, S.C., and Trent Webb of Memphis, Tenn., were named FedEx Ground Entrepreneurs of the Year at a banquet recognizing them for their business development, customer service results, safety record and community support.
The FedEx Ground Entrepreneur of the Year honor was established in 2007 to recognize those independent contractors who have built businesses that most consistently go the extra mile to safely deliver superior customer service, help fellow independent contractors succeed, and support their local communities. Of the nearly 12,000 independent contractors supporting the FedEx Ground network, Ciardiello, Keefe and Webb were recognized for best exemplifying these traits in 2008-2009.
“For nearly a quarter century, FedEx Ground has worked in collaboration with thousands of dedicated small business owners to deliver exceptional service to the marketplace,” said Dave Rebholz, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Ground. “These entrepreneurial men and women commit themselves to creating small businesses that deliver on a promise of reliable, cost-effective and professional service. Through their outstanding efforts they have built thriving businesses and, in the process, have made substantial contributions to their local communities.”
Since the founding of the Entrepreneur of the Year program, FedEx Ground has named nearly 300 regional honorees. Ciardiello, Keefe and Webb were selected from a group of 20 finalists from this year’s regional winners. The following are brief biographical profiles of the three honorees:
Nick Ciardiello, [NC Enterprises]
In the 20 years since Nick Ciardiello purchased his first FedEx Ground route, he’s formed corporations and partnerships with other FedEx Ground independent contractors and now owns and operates 16 routes, maintains a fleet of 30 vehicles and employs 34 people, including a helper who knows each route and provides driver training. A consummate professional who is always looking for opportunities to grow his business, Nick has posted 17 years of accident-free driving and many of his drivers have received individual safety awards.
Jason Keefe. [Conex, LLC]
Jason Keefe’s attention to safety has earned him the respect of the Charleston, S.C., FedEx Home Delivery management team and his fellow contractors. Jason explains that he and his seven drivers combine safe practices with a strong work ethic to meet customer needs every day. When he’s not busy running his FedEx Home Delivery business, Jason participates in various community events. In the past, he’s sponsored the Berlin G. Meyers Tournament, which benefits employees with disabilities, and The Ronald McDonald House. He’s also served as a volunteer coach for the local YMCA soccer team and the local baseball league. An avid cook, Jason has also appeared on the Food Network program Grill It! with Bobby Flay.
Trent Webb, [Trent Webb Inc 2 and L&J Svcs]
Linehaul contractor Trent Webb has grown his two businesses from start-up companies to a million-dollar enterprise that helps keep the packages flowing in and out of FedEx Ground’s Memphis hub. Embracing the independent contractor model, Webb has expanded his operations through volume growth and acquisition. Starting with two-tractors in 1987, today Webb has six assigned runs serviced by 12 drivers who operate seven vehicles. Equally impressive is Trent’s 24 years of safe driving and his industry involvement. He served as an America’s Road Team Captain in 1996-1997 and is a long-time member of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association of America.

Let Brown Do It To You.
A lot of misinformation in this "news" release from FedEx. The FACT is that both UPS and FedEx deliver 2.5 million express packages on a daily basis. At both companies, the packages travel by air, but are DELIVERED by truck drivers -- not pilots. Given that FedEx just reported an $800+ million loss -- why spend millions of dollars on a publicity campaign to convince people that packages are delivered by airplanes? Why is FedEx the ONLY company in the express delivery business to have its truck drivers governed by a law meant for airline pilots? Same labor laws should govern the same jobs. That's a level playing field. And when companies compete on a level playing field, the marketplace can determine success.
FedEx Express: National Survey Shows Americans Oppose 'Brown Bailout' for UPS
Last update: 6/18/2009 9:53:00 AM
Eight in 10 Americans Oppose More Government Bailouts and Seven in 10 Say Brown Bailout Is Unfair
MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jun 18, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Americans overwhelmingly oppose the proposed government "brown bailout" for United Parcel Service that would give UPS an industry edge for overnight deliveries, according to a new national poll conducted June 2-3 by Public Opinion Strategies for "BrownBailout.com."
Nearly seven out of 10 Americans polled oppose the government intervention and 80 percent say the federal government should stop bailing out companies and let the market determine who succeeds.
"BrownBailout.com" was launched by FedEx Express, the creator of the overnight delivery, to educate the public about the bailout language buried within the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2009 currently before Congress. As written, it calls for FedEx Express to be removed from coverage under the Railway Labor Act, the law under which FedEx Express was founded in the 1970's and has always operated under. By removing FedEx Express from RLA, Congress would expose FedEx operations to service interruptions that could impact the shipment of critical goods like medicines and essential inventory.
UPS is lobbying for this change because it believes the RLA gives FedEx Express a "competitive advantage."
Without RLA controls however the government would in effect give UPS unfair advantage by potentially putting in jeopardy the reliability of the FedEx integrated delivery network.
Americans have come to depend on the FedEx Express next-day delivery network to supply all its most essential needs. The national telephone survey was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies of 800 registered voters, and has a margin of error of the poll is +/- 3.46%.
Highlights of the survey include:
-- 75 percent say the reliability of overnight package delivery - knowing that a package will be delivered, when promised - is extremely or very important.
-- 61 percent say overnight package delivery is extremely or very important to the U.S. economy.
-- 81 percent of those polled believe FedEx and UPS have been operating successfully for decades, and since consumers have choices, competitive prices and service options, there is no need to change the laws.
-- 58 percent of those polled say they would be extremely or very concerned if Congress considered legislation that could make the overnight delivery system less reliable in the United States.
-- 70 percent say it is unfair for Congress to impose trucking regulations on FedEx's shipping business because four out of five packages delivered by FedEx travel by air. UPS began as a trucking company and delivers four out of five packages by truck.
-- 67 percent of those polled oppose this proposed action by Congress to impose trucking regulations on FedEx Express.

Presidential Inauguration Service Update
FedEx Delivers During the Presidential Inauguration
Heightened security measures for Inauguration Day on Jan. 20, 2009, will include extensive road closures and restricted access to many locations in Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas, including some bridges and tunnels leading into and out of the Capitol. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and FedEx Office are planning to operate on this day, however due to enhanced local security measures, customers may experience some delays within the area.
Continue to check fedex.com for service updates. As more details become available, we will post alternative shipping options for customers to consider during this time.
FedEx is committed to providing service to the best of our ability, and we regret any inconvenience during this period of high security.
For specific shipment status information, please track the status of your shipment at fedex.com. You can also contact FedEx Customer Service at 1.800.GoFedEx 1.800.463.3339, or stay up to date by subscribing to service disruption e-mail notifications at the FedEx E-Mail Subscription Center.
With DHL rapidly winding down services and/or contracting out deliveries. UPS and FedEx stand to pick up a substantial peice of DHL/Airborne business. Although the stock could go lower w/ the fiasco going on in the financial sector(could see mid-sixties if bailout bill grags on), if it the bill passes I don't see it going much lower. I think decreases in business due to the economy will be at least partially offset by new business from disgruntled or spooked DHL customers.
Looks like we are going to test 73 and change again.
I would expect numbers to revise upward over time and probably some earnings suprises in a few quarters as I think we will get a break on oil prices in September as well the fact that both FDX and UPS will gain a lot of business due to the changes at DHL. DHL has already begun handing packages over to USPS for delivery to certain zips. I also hear that even in the zips DHL is still seriving some of the commit times are moving to later in the day. Not good for DHL. Good for FDX and UPS.

FedEx had a great day today - oil is likely going to rebound though.....
Realize their fuel sur charge only increases once a month but gas has been going up consistently every day. Profits may get worse in Q1 as I expect oil to reach as high as 160-170$ a barrel by August but should drop signifigantly in September at the end of the summer. I would expect Q2 to improve slightly over Q1 and Q3 to improve over Q2 however year-over-year comparisons probaly won't be favorable until Q4 or latr in FY2009.
I think the economy and the cost of fuel is hurting them. UPS's release confirmed the same.

FEDEX Is were its at they beat street exp every quarter big money to be made in this stock
