Bank of America Keep the Change Program
I just wan to post here that this will be huge for BOA. This is something that people can relate to. Forget points, or cash back at a latter date. This is something that probably won't cost anymore than those other programs, but will resinate with the people much clearer.
I believe this will be a huge step for BOA and you will see more people signing up for their cards. Keep an eye out!

Nothing new at the moment!
Do you have any new thoughts on IVAN...I have owned it many times...last year at about this time it moved to 3 bucks..i bought it at like a buck and change...but I'm told its going to ten easy once they land an elephant...
I was being serious, but I hadn't read your ibox here at the time I asked.
I'll keep an eye on this one. Thanks!
Are you being serious? (hard to tell with text sometimes) I have it as one of my pics in the board info, use it as a graphic in my sig, and post to how well its going to do... :)))
Taser is great!! I don't know why Liberals don't like it. They hate guns because they kill but Tasers are safe (unless used on drugged out criminals.)
In this would we will never 'Just get along', so one must protect themselves and has the right to do so. Taser allows those who do not want to threaten life, do so.
This will be a huge play for them.
Thanks for stopping by, always nice to have visitors.
I'm confused.
Are you promoting this stun gun devise or are you condemning it
?
I would have liked the AppleTV to have had DVR capabilities. Maybe next gen will? Unlike the iPhone, any DVR stuff would be new to Apple. The iPhone is all OS X and iPod.
Two questions I have.
1) What will PC user do as far as syncing? Nothing I would imagine as they will be moved to buy a Mac after using Mail, Safari, and the rest of the OS. iTunes should sync as usual. The current iPods will allow syncing with Outlook contacts and you can choose a photo folder to sync with also.
2) What of storage? No mention of available file storage. Will this read PDF files?
Bonus Question: How much of the OS is ported to this device? Or are we to see more as time goes on? Not available to June would allow iLife 7 to be ready for an add-on!
Apple is going to be huge this year! Forget the share price today. By the end of the year, $110 will see cheap.
AppleTV is nice, and I'll own one next month, but the iPhone is huge for two reasons. The cell phone industry is in need of some new features that are actually usable and iPhone brings that like the 4th of July!
OS X is the center of this touchscreen iPod device that allows you to sync your Contacts, Address Book, E-mail, and iTunes while also giving your full HTML Safari browsing. Has anyone tried to browse with IE? More work than fun is just the start. Not producing content as you see on your computer is the other. But Safari fixes that, as Apple always tends to do for us.
The phone has unique features such as visual voice mail where you can see the voice mails as you would e-mail. Select what to listen to in the order you want. No more scrolling through 5 unheard messages just to get to the last one that actually has the updated information you need. Answer a second call and link them together in a conference call with 1-icon action, or send e-mail while talking. Why only do one thing when you have Apple to help you do many at once?
Second and just as important, this gets OS X into many, many more hands than has purchased Macs. So this year should see a nice halo effect of people seeing what the OS can do, and want it on their desktop also.
Won't it be nice to talk on the phone while surfing the web, finding that phone number for mom, or having a conference call while stuck in traffic AND being able to send them e-mail?
The only thing I did not see is file exchange or Pages capability. but I suspect their Office offering won't come out until iLife 7. And being that Apple will maintain the OS, it should be an easy Apple store purchase and download.
The only bad news is availability is not until June. I'm sure Apple wants to weigh demand and order parts accordingly. This will be seen as the biggest release since OS X!
Thanks for reading,
Richard

Taser Rolls Out New Civilian Stun Gun

Taser Rolls Out New Civilian Model Stun Gun Amid Protests
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Taser International Inc. on Monday rolled out a new version of its stun gun intended for civilian use, calling the devices "the next generation in personal protection."
The new Taser C2, unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, come in a variety of colors, including metallic pink. Scottsdale-based Taser's primary customers now are police departments and the military.
The new weapon's introduction comes after a weekend that saw two people die after police shocked them with Taser devices.
A 45-year-old man died in Fort Pierce, Fla., on Saturday after police used a Taser to try to subdue him while he struggled with officers in the back of a patrol car. Douglas John Ilten, of Nashville, Tenn., had been stopped after acting erratically and throwing musical instruments out of a truck at a gas station.
On Sunday, police in New York City used a Taser to subdue an emotionally disturbed man at his Queens home. Blondel Lasseque, 38, went into cardiac arrest after being shocked and died.
Following the deaths and Taser's announcement of its new product, Amnesty International USA renewed its call for an independent and comprehensive study into their use. The group said more than 220 people have died after being shocked with Tasers by police and placing the stun guns in the hands of average citizens could have "devastating consequences."
Tasers shoot darts attached to wires from the gun and deliver a 50-thousand volt jolt of electricity, incapacitating the person.
"How many deaths related to these devices must occur before we have concrete, impartial information that accurately describes the potential dangers of use?" said Larry Cox, executive director for Amnesty International.
Taser says 30 different wrongful death or injury claims have been dismissed or successfully defended in recent years and claims it has not lost a product liability suit.
Taser hopes the latest version helps broaden its sales. The company introduced a civilian model in 2004, but many states banned them or required background checks.
The new gun is designed to make it easier for consumers to comply with state laws and buy the devices. The C2 can't be activated until the buyer completes a process known as SureCheck, an online background check that can be done in about a minute.
"The Taser C2 is the next generation in personal protections," company Chairman Tom Smith said. "Taser International was founded to create safer personal protection alternatives, while utilizing technologies to maximize public safety and minimize the potential for misuse -- and the Taser C2 continues in that tradition.

Winn-Dixie loses $24.6M for quarter
Thursday October 26, 3:12 pm ET
Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. released its first quarter financial statement Wednesday for the 12 week period ending Sept. 20.
Net sales were up for Winn-Dixie in its first quarter, but the grocer still lost $24.6 million.
Net sales of $1.6 billion were up 12 percent compared with $1.5 billion for the first quarter ending Sept. 21, 2005. The loss for Winn-Dixie, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February 2005, was down from the $552.5 million loss in the first quarter in fiscal year 2005.
The company did gain $16.8 million from discontinued operations during bankruptcy for the quarter, which was included in net loss. Closure of 357 out of 374 stores in fiscal year 2006 ending June 28 were counted as discontinued operations in the statement. Winn-Dixie has 520 retail stores as of Sept. 20.
A confirmation hearing for Winn-Dixie's reorganization plan was held Oct. 13 but a decision on whether the company will pull out of bankruptcy has not yet come down. Once Winn-Dixie has approval by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida to emerge from bankruptcy, the subsequent financial statements "may materially change" because of "fresh start" provisions that require all assets and liabilities to be restated to their fair value, the quarterly report states. At that point, the company's financial statements will no longer be comparable to previous quarters.

Creditors OK Winn-Dixie reorganization
Tuesday October 10, 1:07 pm ET
A majority of voters has approved Winn-Dixie Stores Inc.'s bankruptcy reorganization plan. Winn-Dixie is now awaiting confirmation by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Middle District of Florida.
The court is scheduled to hold an Oct. 13 hearing on the plan filed by the Jacksonville-based grocer (Pink Sheets: WNDXQ - News).
The nine unsecured classes, or unsecured creditors eligible to vote, all accepted the plan. The unsecured classes approved the plan ranging from a 77 percent acceptance by landlord claims to 100 percent acceptance from creditors such as AmSouth Bank. Two secured sub-classes of state and county tax collectors, the Internal Revenue Service and other secured claims, rejected the plan.
That will not affect the plan from continuing to the scheduled confirmation, said Winn-Dixie spokesman Michael Freitag. The secured creditors will get 100 cents on the dollar once an agreement is met and approved in court as to how much is owed by the debtors. Hearings are scheduled beyond the confirmation date to settle several disputes.
The deadline to vote for the plan was Sept. 25 and results were filed by Logan & Co., a New Jersey-based tabulating agency.

Honda's new engine
Honda (HMC) says it has developed a "super-clean" diesel engine that will emit no more pollution than a gasoline-powered one. Diesels get up to 30 percent better fuel economy than gasoline engines, but never caught on in the U.S. because they were far dirtier. Honda's would be the first diesel to meet California's tough 2009 air-quality standards. Honda also said it would start selling a hydrogen fuel-cell powered sports sedan in 2008. Toyota took the "environmental crown" with its Prius hybrid, said powertrain analyst Anthony Pratt of J.D. Power & Associates. "Now Honda wants it back." Apple sells Razors!
Apple is a hardware company, and much like the razor companies Apple understands that they must get you hooked on the Razor to sell you tons of Razor Blades. In Apple’s case the blades is the software.
Sure, all the software is free when you first buy an Apple, and quite reasonable afterwards also, but they do have a captive audience don’t they. With iTunes and the iPod, Apple is now selling us content to be followed by more software and faster hardware.
Unlike purchasing a PC, Apple does an excellent job of graphing their software together so they work seamlessly in tandem. So you naturally use iLife, and thusly you would have to upgrade at some point. Then they make sharing that self made content easy with a .Mac account for a small subscription so they also sell you a service.
Soon we will have an iPhone that will need a mobile OS X that will have to be upgraded also. And more content as we can start buying movies online. I expect Apple to start pushing Front Row as they attempt to take the Mac mini to the home theater. Then they can sell a subscription, probably through .Mac, that allows you to record shows from their guide.
This is all perfectly fine and expected; but I wanted to point out the obvious anyway so we can see the collateral potential of Apple selling more hardware.
Apple is a hardware company, and a fine one at that, but their software is cool also!
Apple sitting at $72 is targeted at $91 next year!!

Flexible-Fuel Vehicles using Ethanol

Ethanol makes such a good, high-octane fuel, that all race cars in the IndyCar® series will be required to use 100 percent ethanol for the 2007 racing season.
This might just be the fuel of the new age. I'll have to look into providers and such soon.
RCAI ended down for the day on news. But i've seen AMD go through this also. Every time news came out, AMD was down until one day it just took off out of the $10s through the $20s to peak just above $40. Now we have a new low of $20s which should really be in the $30s by Q1.
I think RCAI will do the same and be well into $1 by Q1 '07.

AMD "virus" is no AMD virus at all
FUD the second time in two months
By: Chip Mulligan Tuesday 29 August 2006, 03:35
AN UNEXPECTED SIDE-EFFECT OF rebranding X86-64 as AMD64 has probably taken the manufacturer by surprise.
In the last couple of months, virus experts have released statements about two new attacks that target x86-64-based Windows that have caused widespread panic and confusion in the press about what exactly was going on, and have landed on AMD’s doormat, rather unjustifiably.
Well, we hope that our readers will be smart enough to see through the stupid bomb’s cloud to the truth below: the viruses might affect Windows AMD64 version, but not because of any chip-level AMD weakness, rather because the virus is attacking Windows 64-bit x86 version, just not the Itanium IA64 version.
Let’s say that again – virus scanner maker states "new virus affects Windows (AMD64)", and the press reports "AMD processors affected by new virus", when in reality, all Celeron Ds, Pentium Ds, Core 2 Duos running in 64-bit mode also suffer the same bug. Daamit.
Here comes the science: take a look at the following page that describes the latest virus: http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldron/archive/2006/08/10/107293.aspx
You’ll notice two things. One: the virus affects 32-bit Windows too – shucks, there goes the AMD-only problem! Two: its 64-bit version mentions nothing about any Athlon-related vulnerability; this is quite simply a virus that affects Windows x86-64 in both Intel and AMD forms.
So there you go - for all complaints, visit your nearest Vole, as usual! μ
