i tagged out this year. a friend showed me how to properly grill hindquarters and then slice it up and stir fry with olive oil, onions and bbq sauce. its so good that i think it may be illegal. tender doesnt even describe it.
I talked recently with this fellow, nice guy. http://knowhunting.com/huntphilosophy.html
I've seen the size of those gals across the border, they need the
workout!
in wisconsin we make the women drag the deer lol
nice, 2 texas deer = 1 wisconsin deer in size. haha, at least i don't have to worry about dragging a 150lb deer a mile through the snow. :) been there done that in NY.
Good to hear WK.. i hope to hear some good news from ya next week! going out this weekend myself.. lucky for me, Wisconsin bucks make big targets lol
Bowhunters unite! Yes sir! I think we need to breathe some life into this board!
I am a life long bow hunter, all 28 years. Going out for deer saturday! Been out scouting for a couple week, seeing lots of sign and deer!
Bow is ready up to 35yds, im ready for 50! Need to set up the extra pins though.
Texas deer make for small targets, lol.
Well rich.... Had the bow out today, 1st time since last season. Felt good. I decided to shoot the G5 Montec broadheads this year. Been hearing lotsa good things about the way they fly. I also like the idea that they are a one piece broadhead that i can sharpen.
Savy savy savy....for sure! I will get the exact name a model of mine and tell you later. Cya
no trail cam...maybe i'll ask Santa for one this year :)
Savy do you use a Trail camera? This is the number one reason I am successful 3 years in a row on big bucks. Trail cameras have made hunting so much more fun b/c you know what is in the area. Now getting that buck is another story! lol
Good luck and keep me updated!
I am still buck-less for the season.. Here in Wisconsin its muzzle loader until Sunday so on Monday i plan on grabbing the bow and seeing if i can bag one before the snow starts to fly. wish me luck!
Thanks Savvy..Im not happy about the shot but it did the trick! Rage is broadheads are sick!
ok. its official. im switching to rage broadheads. You shot a deer in the ass and killed it man. i have seen a lot of things hunting..but thats a 1st! Great video bro!! nice buck!
SavVY6-Here is a video I made of my deer hunting trip that i got a nice buck with my bow iceman rage broadheads . I made a nice video of it. Listen from the very beginning with sound turned up.

LOL bowhunters marry in tree in Iowa
ANAMOSA, Iowa — An Iowa couple whose passion for bowhunting encouraged Cupid's arrow to strike wore camouflage to blend in with the wooded backdrop at their treetop wedding.
Forty-two year-old Kim Silver dressed in a silk gown made by camouflage specialists Mossy Oak, and her 61-year-old groom, Marvin Hunter, was dressed in camo shirt and pants at the Saturday nuptials.
They said their vows atop a tree stand hunting platform at the Anamosa Bowhunters Archery Club in the state's northeast. The bride and groom occasionally punctuated the ceremony by firing arrows at targets.
Hunter said the couple had always joked about getting married on a tree stand. Silver said the pair they hunt together so much that the camo wedding "just seemed like the right thing to do."

man accused of poaching a world-class buck was sentenced
March 18 2010
A Cannon Falls man accused of poaching a world-class buck was sentenced Thursday to a year in jail and had his hunting privileges suspended for five years.
Troy Alan Reinke pleaded guilty to taking and possessing big game out of season, a gross misdemeanor, and two other poaching-related charges. As part of a plea agreement, eight other poaching-related charges were dropped.
Reinke also must forfeit his hunting bow and permanently turn the trophy-class antler rack over to the Department of Natural Resources' enforcement division. Other terms of the agreement call for Reinke to pay $1,500 in restitution to the state and a $500 fine, First District Court Judge Thomas Bibus ruled.
Reinke's attorney, Timothy Dillon, said his client maintains he found the trophy-class buck and did not shoot it himself.
"Troy made a big mistake when he thought he could make some money off this rack," Dillon said.
The case drew outrage among deer hunters last year when Reinke was first accused of shooting a world-class buck out of season. As the charges escalated, prosecutors alleged he shot the buck with a firearm during bow season.
"He knows he's a demon in the hunting community," Dillon said. "He knows he's not going to be accepted in the hunting community ever again."
Goodhue County prosecutors said Reinke was hunting in the White Rock area on Halloween night 2009 when he killed an eight-point buck that DNR officials say was second to none of its kind.
The massive buck's rack out-sizes any other eight-pointer, according to Boone and Crockett, an organization that chronicles trophy rack kills. The deer accumulated a gross score of 190 5/8 and green score of 185, DNR officials said.
Authorities said Reinke's deer tag should have gone to one of the first two deer he reportedly shot in early October. He allegedly waited to fill his tag until killing the trophy buck, shot Oct. 31. Consequently, all three were taken illegally, according to the charges.
Dillon said state officials never tested the hunting jacket Reinke claimed he wears on hunting excursions. The jacket was supposed prove that the 32-year-old had not shot a firearm.
"They understood that it wasn't going to test in their favor," Dillon said.
But since he was "financially depressed" at the time, Reinke saw the dead deer's rack as an opportunity, his attorney said.
"He got greedy and thought, 'This rack could be worth some money,'" Dillon said.
DNR Conservation Officer Tyler Quandt denied rumors claiming a sporting goods outfitter had sought to buy the trophy rack from the state for $200,000.
Still, inquiries from "numerous" taxidermists have indicated the rack is worth "quite a bit of money," Quandt said.
A man identifying himself as Reinke's minister accompanied Reinke to court. Acknowledging that much of the story remains untold, Dillon said the minister has urged Reinke to "clear the air" with the public.
But that only goes so far, Dillon said.
"Confession is only good in a confessional," he said.
Reinke will receive credit for 120 days served. The sentence runs alongside another conviction he received Thursday for a probation violation.
He begins his jail term April 2.

I believe this was him in full strut because this is the same field I shot my tom in.
First time I ever got a pic of this thing. Cant tell ifs its a black coyote or a black wolf. The head features say its a wolf.
My first Tom with a bow
Matthews Swithchback XT- 2 man ameristep blind-rage 2 blade mechanical broadhead. Arrow went thru his butt and sticking out the side of his neck.
Sounds like a plan, let the board know how it turns out. Also, what type of cover/blind you may be using, decoys, feeders, etc.
Thanks!!
Turkey season starts here in Alabama Monday March 16th and runs thru April 30th. I plan to try and get 1 with a bow this time.

'Pork choppers' may be used to control Texas' wild hogs
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6271299.html
Millions of wild pigs weighing up to 300 pounds have been tearing up crops, trampling fences and eating just about anything in their path in Texas. But now they had better watch their hairy backs.
A state lawmaker is proposing to allow ordinary Texans with rifles and shotguns to shoot the voracious, tusked animals from helicopters.
For years, ranchers in the Lone Star State have hired professional hunters in choppers to thin the hogs' fast-multiplying ranks. Now state Rep. Sid Miller of the Fort Worth area wants to bring more firepower to the task by issuing permits to sportsmen.
"I've had numerous calls and complaints that someone needs to do something," Miller said. "We're losing ground on this problem."
Wounded deer attacks hunter who shot him
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/dec/02/wounded-deer-attacks-hunter-who-shot-him/
You don't shake until later. Its so captivating, that while the animal is that close, you loose all sense of anything but the encounter, and trying not to interrupt it. But, if that was a shooter, he probably would have shook like a jack hammer. I never had one do the arrow touch, but I had a small 4 point buck actually sniffing me at about a foot from my foot. I was in a low tree stand, on a side slope in the woods, covering a trail around the marsh edge at the bottom of the hill. I could stand on the ground and lay my bow on the stand platform, so it was only about 7 feet off of the ground, on the downhill side. The small buck came in on the uphill side of the stand, and worked his way right up to it, looked me up and down for an eternity, and finally reached up to sniff the edge of the stand right by my foot. I didn't move, and he didn't bolt. He eased out of the area at the same pace he came in. I thought he would blow, and bolt, but I guess my stillness kept him from being alarmed. Nice memory for me, though. Thanks again for the post. LC
yep, i though it was close ..then i saw her touch the guys broadhead LOL! amazing. also cool he didn't shoot..had a baby with her.
i would have been shaking like a leaf on a tree.
