Castro's bad day in CF.
Anthony Volpe's sacrifice fly

Thankfully Joey Wendle was dfa'd, didn't think Butto should be sent down as I thought he pitched well. But don't want to go to a 6th man and figured they are gonna call up megill soon. I prefer butto over megill, but obviously the organization thinks differently.
Nice to see Vientos in the lineup, now I want to see this guy play day after day. I believe he will hit alot more than baty. But you have to give him consistent playing time.
And the Knicks win to go up 3-2 along with the Rangers.

Day after snagging back-to-back foul balls, fan throws out TWO first pitches

Giancarlo Stanton's solo home run (9)
And that is why he is number 1 in bat speed. That HR got out of town in a hurry.

Sounds like Vientos is on his way up (About time, should of been up here from day 1). And they are gonna both get time, him and baty? How is that gonna work? What they are gonna do because they love useless joey wendle, and for some reason not known to me they are sold on brett baty who is clearly showing to us he can't hit again (Never any power), is probably send down DJ Stewart who is actually one of the few with pop off the bench from the left side. But in what world is having a plattoon with two unproven players with neither getting in rhythem sound like a good idea. I get that if both guys were veterans, but not young players. Send Baty Down, and Play Vientos it is so obvious. And dfa Wendle, because it is simply always a good idea to dfa wendle.
Thankfully Lucchessi is starting, why do I feel the manager didn't want houser to start (Who would), but the gm who traded for him wanted him too. So the way around it is having him warm up in the 9th, and say I might of needed an arm. Love it. Don't ever have him start. ever. He might be okay as a long man, but as a starter, he is terrible, the 8+ era with no inning might give it away, there are some numbers for the analytics department to run in what world did it sound like a good idea that he was starting I will never know in my opinion.
And why are the mets starting Houser tomorrow. There season is in trouble assuming they don't win this one and you put the ball in the hands of houser. I just don't get it. Why? A 6 man rotation makes 0 sense what that means is you play with 1 less guy in the bullpen. How is that a good thing.
Yankees' impending Caleb Ferguson DFA decision will happen sooner than you think
By Adam Weinrib | May 13, 2024
The bullpen ERA? Top-tier. The bullpen trust level, with runners on second and third and one out? No comment. A soft grounder helps quite often, but when push comes to shove, you'd always rather have a strikeout, something Dennis Santana, Victor González, Roving Bullpen Spot Currently Occupied by Michael Tonkin, and Caleb Ferguson often struggle to obtain.
Yankees writer starts unnecessary drama with Alex Verdugo, Jasson Dominguez shakeup

Must have been a slow day for the writer.

And of course Mcniel I've had my fill of him as well. Another guy who stinks. Terrible loss, any slight positive there was yesterday, totally undid with interest today in my opinion.
Did I mention Wendle should not be on this team.
Tough call on the Bohm HBP to tie it.
Terrible call by the umpire, I don't know what he was looking at. But still Diaz put himself in this position and the mets as usual had there chances to pour it on and didn't do it. Diaz velocity is down significantly, and his slider has often been very hittable at times. He often has gotten away with some of his hanging sliders too. Just doesn't look anywhere near the same.
Tough call on the Bohm HBP to tie it. Meanwhile Adames gets thrown out in at 3rd late in the game, down by 3, for the 3rd out.
Diaz hasn't been lights out, for sure this season. But he was virtually unhittable the season before the injury. Hard to imagine he could bounce back to that level.
Meanwhile diaz doesn't look like diaz, this is a major concern. This has been a concern for me all year.

Pete Rose on hitting
I think the big problem for Canadian teams is the exchange rate for the CAD vs the USD. And FL is a nice team to play for since they don't have an income tax.
Gasser put up 6 shut out innings for the Crew against the cards in his MLB debut a couple of days ago. His ERA at AAA ball was 5.75. Go figger.
Lot of uber low ERAs this season. Seth Lugo is the pitching equivalent of Brady Anderson in the Balco days.
Wouldn't it be a nice change for a Canadian team to win the Cup? The Montreal Canadians were the hockey equivalent of the Yankees when I was growing up, but their legend has faded with all the years of mediocrity.
Teams from Florida win Stanley Cups but can't put 25,000 fans in a baseball stadium.

Power Rankings: This team is No. 1 for the 1st time ever

No surprise, the Orioles are number 1.
Rangers will close it out tonight. Knicks are playing hurt.
Marinaccio, Miss me now?
I agree. The way he was hyped wasn't reflected in the box score I was expecting lots of Ks 1 or 2 hits and no runs allowed. That didn't happen.
Time to move on.
That was the most painless loss I have ever seen. Game 3 hurt so much more. The best thing about it, is they didn't have to use a ton of energy today, they need all the rest they can possibly get.
Not a rangers fan,but I doubt you will be right on that. As for the Knicks I have to say if they don't win game 5 (Which I see as a coin toss, I think you'll be right), they are running on fumes. I mean brunson is playing hurt. And the minutes and injuries have got to the team. The loss of Annuoby might be the factor that turned the series around. Make no mistake the Knicks are a vastly superior team fully whole. But they are not whole, not even close.
Randle- Gone. Huge loss
Bogdonivic-Scoring, and 3 pt shooting off the bench.
Robinson- Backup center and good defensive player inside, as well as great offensive rebounder.
Annuboy-Elite defender and 3 pt shooter. The thing that turned the series around.
And lets not forget brunson at this point is hurt. Lets face it indiana is the luckiest team I have ever seen so far, they should of never got past the bucks but the antekoumpo injury followed by lillard going down did them in. Now all the injuries on the Knicks are giving them a decent shot.
I'll happily trade my Brewers score with the Mets result today! Mets play Atlanta tough...except late in September...
Now the Knicks and Rangers- I could see both of those teams not winning another game this season.
eases the pain of the Knicks never being in today's game---hopefully they got their much needed rest
More of a microcosm of the season when the mets do get offense it is late and against teams bullpens. And when you think the team is gonna crack they seem to get a win to stop the bleeding.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
Figures. He stole the 3rd run with a steal, but them keep walking him in front of ozuna. This team walks too, too many. They let people steal to an art form. and they never hit. And in a big spot they are certainly allergic of getting a hit. What can I say.
Zack Short---under your skin before and after you sold him...
And the mets continue to show us they can't hit. Severino Gives up a homer to Kelenic for the 1rst run to score (The prospect traded in the cano deal), and the second run scored because he walked the immortal zack short, we know he can't hit, but if you don't throw a strike he can get to 1rst. If this offense doesn't wake up and fast they will be buried soon enough. The pitching staff is outperforming, but you can't expect them to pitch shutouts every day because you never score a run. And could they stop walking zack short, he stinks.
I have---great stuff---right now I'm watching a rare Yankee BP meltdown that is rivaling the Pirates yesterday---Gil has a 6 inning 6-0 gem---Ferguson comes in the 7th gives up a single, double, walk, grand slam---Burdi comes in and reloads the bases with 2 walks and a HBP....shakin' my head
edit: it continues--Weaver in and beans Paredes on a 3-2 count...score 6-5 now
Have you seen christian scott yet. Now his FB isn't skenes like I will admit that, but so far I have been impressed with his stuff, and seems like he knows how to pitch.
I agree---I didn't care what the game result was, or his game WHIP was ( his life WHIP is under 1)---I only tuned in to see what kind of stuff the kid had and his pitch arsenal---I was impressed with that even tho' the end result was lacking----and trust me, I know who put the 1st 2 runners on in the 5th inning before Nicolas came in to relieve Skenes with the score 6-1, strike out the first 2 hitters he faced, and then have a meltdown I hadn't seen since the Chapman days
Maybe we can all agree on this.
At this point Bull wasn't impressed with Skenes this start and was overhyped (Which is true), and probably think no prospect should get that much hype going in.
I thought he got too much hype, and too much focus by the media/mlb was on the radar gun hype, although I do admit he has good stuff, and can't make any judgements on 1 start. I didn't think his start was very good. When you have a 2 whip in a game you can't be good in that game it is simple as that in my opinion. I mean you can say you liked the way he battled though.
You came away impressed with his stuff, and didn't seem to care about the start in general, that there were waaaaaaaaaaaay too many baserunners. Basically saying that, he had to be nervous (Which is true), his stuff plays (Which is probably true, if he can get a little better command, have to believe with being less nervous 1rst time out will help at least some).
Any thoughts of agreeing to that, and going to the neutral corners on this issue. rather than continuing to fight with each other on skenes. You guys are yankee fan there something to unify you, at least you have a team that is good, I have the 4th place mets, who was trying to get no hit yesterday. LOL.
When you learn how to keep score get back to me. Skenes left two runners on base and they were not ghost runners. LMAO.
I didn't realize I had to spell out HIS=SKENES....evidently I assumed too much of you...
Who put the runners on base to begin with genius.
Apparently I'm not in the minority. We were watching the same game. And as I said in the beginning we'll have to see how he goes from here.
no sh!t Sherlock----Gawd you are dense-----again, for the umpteeth time----HIS RELIEVER WALKED 2 OF HIS RUNNERS IN...

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way i feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Look at me, i can be centerfield.
Well, i spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know i took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! i got it, i got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know i think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Field of Dreams (1989)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."
