Your season was over when you traded for JBJ! Let's see how he fares in Toronto after being DFA'ed.
If the Red Sox front office has a plan, you need the baseball equivalent of the Rosetta Stone to decipher it, but hey, you got Hosmer locked in to 1st.
Josh Donaldson and Andrew Benintendi are the real keys to future success, there should be no more automatic outs in the Yankees lineup.
Andujar called up to replace Carpenter..
I didn't realize you had 5 starting pitchers----but you may be the only team that has 3 position players logging innings on the mound---congrats
our season was over when we had four of five starting pitchers on the IL
That certainly doesn't help your season goal of catching the O's...
Some guys get all the breaks...
Poor Chris Sale fractured wrist in bicycle accident - out for this season.
They said he would be ready for next season - I doubt that
Chris Sale done for season after bike accident in surreal Red Sox twist
Donaldson and Benintendi finally showed some life---and Pay the Man---I already had my 'puter shut down when he hit that blast in the 9th
Barring complications with a 6-8 week healing time Matt Carpenter could be back for the post-season.
He should bring 'em both up---send Locastro down---give Florial a bit of a shot replacing Hicks--Florial having a good year--still a couple holes in his swing with offspeed stuff but we're talkin' Hicks here
Does Brian Cashman know he has both Estevan Florial and Miguel Andújar available in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre?
Didn't look good when he fouled that ball off his foot---was encouraged when he finished the AB, but.........
shame because he had really resurrected his career and was a major part of this team...
Stanton looks to be getting closer--in the meantime, Go Miggy
Things are a changing.

Matt Carpenter has suffered a left foot fracture, the
@Yankees
announce.
So far Vogelbach and Naquin are excellent additions and Marte has been excellent as well imho! With SCHERZER and DeGrom back and firing pellets at 71-39 looking good so far! August is NOT October though… sleep peacefully all
Absolutely. Bassitt tonight 8 ip on 114 pitches when the bullpen needed a break. This staff in my opinion if they are healthy is the best starting pitching staff in baseball, and In my opinion it isn't even close.
Joey's right on schedule---BA at the Mendoza line and 60% K's
Opposite for the Dodgers - The Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to suffer a loss since acquiring Joey Gallo.

In fairness the mets offense was a bit lucky yesterday (Although I don't think he should of commented after the team got destroyed over a 5 game series.).
But it is really hard to score if you never make contact, the braves struck out 19 times yesterday. I mean the braves made Joely Rodriguez look good, that is difficult to do. But they actually accomplished that.
https://nypost.com/2022/08/08/braves-spencer-strider-not-impressed-with-mets-a-lot-of-luck/ . . . . OK ROOKIE!! .. A WISE MAN ONCE SAID . . . . . NOTHING!
https://nypost.com/2022/08/07/mets-jacob-degrom-drop-nl-east-rival-braves-in-dominant-weekend/ . . . . SCHERZER & DeGROM, THUNDER & LIGHTNING!!
Hi, YANKEES & METS NOW HAVE SAME RECORD AT 70-39! Yanks in a tailspin and Mets going gang busters!
Yeah, much as I loathe the Cards they compete every year. They spend for headline talent and they keep the relationship with their fan base tight by holding on to the wainwrights and molinas. They sure stuck with carpenter long enough.
Seems to me that there's some billy beane syndrome out there with some of these GM's. Too clever for their own good. To compete at the highest level, IMO a team needs 2 top starters, 1 lockdown closer and a core of 3 bats. Then you can fill in. This is what makes the Mets, Dodgers and Braves so effective. It's also what the Yanks don't quite have.
I think Peralta could rebuild his value, and get you something as well. They better trade these guys now in the offseason, might as well get back as much as you can, don't wait till you have less control and get less back that makes no sense. They had a chance this year, if they added a few bats instead they made a move that hurt the team, and too be fair I think it even hurt them more psychologically, than actually with talent. And any GM should of known that, and ownership probably wanted to cut payroll.
I would be shocked if they don't go trading crazy in the offseason, but I have been wrong before. So time will tell.
I also think it is funny, cubs are rebuiliding, I think the brewers are gonna start rebuiliding (In 2023), The red are rebuilding, The pirate are always rebuilding. What a division.
It's painful for fans. I've thought about the teardown plan as well, if only because that trade was not the move of a competitor. Then they DFA Lamet. Brewers had a window which peaked last season and is now quickly slamming shut.
Right now, Williams, Woodruff and Burnes have value. The rest of the line up could be swapped out for any other team's mediocre players and the result would be the same. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Stearns gone in this offseason to a bigger market club like Boston or San Diego.
I wouldn't mind the red sox taking them out a few games, but the Braves will get back on there winning ways, I mean lets face it the braves lost because they played a real team, Not a dead last team like the red sox (I mean the braves made there run off team during a 6 week stretch on june 1rst with team like the red sox and worse, that should snap them out of it), who the red sox for some reason continue to build baseball teams with 0 pitching.
But we certainly could dream about the red sox winning games I guess. LOL.
What we called that is a statement series. In My opinion, it is clearly not over, but the mets put a huge step foward, to say they are the best team in the NL east, which is a solid division, and may very well have three teams make the playoffs from it. The mets pitching will make them a tough out in the playoffs, although to be fair the dodgers I would still say are the favorite to come out of the NL.
we'll kill the Braves for you - hahahahahahaha
This brewers decision, told the team that mangement and ownership didn't care/didn't believe or both. I think what they did was a travesty. Don't be surprised if the brewers tear this thing down completely in the offseason with trades of Woodruff and Burnes, and peralta. They had a few more season, and if they added properly they could of won this division and took these shot, they didn't even in my opinion sell hader at top value either, I think they could got a whole lot more for him in the past, or if they opened it up I wonder how many teams didn't even know he was available I certainly wouldn't of called them about Hader how can you assume a team was gonna make a terrible trade like this.
This is exhibit A of why I don't want to hear it about small market teams there is no kind of excuse for this. They were getting there starting pitching back, a couple of bats and although they wouldn't be a favorite, if they get hot you don't have to be the best team to go on a run and you owe this to your fans, and after all the years of Hader trade rumors this is what you get back it was a horrific deal in terms of return, and even worse in the signal they put forth. I have been rooting hard for the Cardinals since this debacle, simple because I don't think this kind of Ownership/management should ever be rewarded for this riduclous behavior in my opinion.
Offensively, Hicks and Donaldson are as bad as Gallo.
Dominant deGrom pitches surging Mets to 5-2 win over Braves
By AP
NEW YORK (AP) Jacob deGrom struck out 12 and carried a perfect game into the sixth inning of his second start all season, pitching the New York Mets past the Atlanta Braves 5-2 on Sunday for their 12th victory in 14 games.
Pete Alonso drove in two runs and the first-place Mets finished with 19 strikeouts - including three in a row from closer Edwin Diaz to end it. They took four of five from Atlanta in their NL East showdown, extending their division lead to 6 1/2 games over the defending World Series champions.
Pitching at home for the first time in 13 months, a dominant deGrom (1-0) retired his first 17 batters - 12 on strikeouts - before walking Ehire Adrianza with two outs in the sixth.
Dansby Swanson followed with a two-run homer on the 76th and final pitch from deGrom, making it 5-2.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner missed the final three months last season with right forearm tightness and a sprained elbow, then was shut down late in spring training because of a stress reaction in his right scapula. He finally returned Tuesday at Washington, throwing five innings of one-run ball in a rare Mets loss lately.
Mets fans had to wait a little longer than they planned to see deGrom go to work as the start of the game was delayed 20 minutes by rain. Once play began, however, deGrom didn't disappoint the crowd.
No doubt---and our BP is showing cracks
Yep---that was baseball negligence not to mention abject stupidity
Ding ding ding! Chicken dinner. You take Stanton out of the line up and the Yanks struggle. You take Judge out and you got the Brewers.
In contrast, the Astros are so deep. They've played parts of this season without every big hitter in their line up and they don't miss a beat. If they go into October healthy, they're the favourites, regardless of home field.
I've seen worse trades of a closer at the deadline. Since dealing Hader, the crew has been swept by Pittsburgh and dropped a home series to the juggernaut known as the Reds. The team morale is obviously in the toilet and rightfully so.
With St Louis starting to heat up and the Phillies facing Washington for a third of their remaining schedule, the Crew has no route to the post season. Even the team owner is bowing out of the fray, saying it was a decision left to baseball management.
one of the problems is we have too many Gallo imposters in this swiss cheese of a lineup
Wasn't only the balls he called strikes--he missed at least 10 strikes in the box...
won't even mention the play he had at the plate that got overturned
Yankees haven’t won a game since trading Joey Gallo.
Jack Curry also noticed.
Pretty sure Aaron Boone shouted to plate umpire Ed Hickox, “Just because you keep calling it, Eddie, doesn’t make it a strike.”

LOL...this guy here was bad when I posted---he's gotten worse if possible
Forgot already how many times we've had the bases loaded today--should have a dozen runs
I didn't think the genius they had umpiring the game at 2b in the mets game was too bright. He was looking right at the play where the fielder tags a met without the ball and calls him out.
Certainly feels like we are watching a repeat of the 2021 Yankees.

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way i feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Look at me, i can be centerfield.
Well, i spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know i took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! i got it, i got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know i think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Field of Dreams (1989)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."
