in china, the business meal is part of doing business. my first business meal over a decade ago; i was "offered" live shrimp slowed by a liquor over rice, a delicacy and an honor my translator told me.
no way i could bring myself to eat it, as politely as i could, i told the hosts via translator that as much as i wanted to do business with them i could not eat this "delicacy". but thank you.
but i digress.
still sad....

the menu choice issue in your original post is a non issue but the hope that china will be a bellwether in recovery is real. go china!
kinda no brainer since we need to fill the boats full of china goods to spur sails in the us of a for sales to make our economy.
like i said in a previous post i have been doing business in china since 1990, my friend pelosi made it hard at first but your friend bush made it so easy and made me rich!
sad, i feel the need to copy my posts elsewhere?

yum same store sales are +2% in china, that is kfc, taco bell and pizza hut.
up is up but do you see 2% from the market leader as an open door for papa bello?
and then, overall latest yums numbers reflect this:
By brand, same-store sales at Taco Bell rose 5% on the period, while KFC was up 2%. Those results, however, were offset by a 7% slump at Pizza Hut.
an open door for papa bello?

i was one of 10 from the us of a that started doing direct business in shanghai and suzhou since 1990, i have traveled there a couple of times a year since, until 2006, now i bring my business partners from china here.
i find it very humourous to read about china and their eating habits here.

Yes culture differences are huge between Americans and pure ASians. Your communal dishes are what they call "family style" here and that's a big thing to share yes. It takes years for companies to learn the idiosyncrasies of a culture. Thats why international companies have very hard time breaking successfully into China and other Asian markets. You basically need local management etc and often Asia is a totally different business/division within a company.

rawnoc, your discounting of the franchisee story in the flip way you have makes me seriously wonder about your investor status.
as an investor i like to seek out all the warts, a bit surprised that you, a seasoned investor is not a bit more curious to a very plausible account with names and more.
the sec has a way of sorting this stuff out and they do.
i have seen a bit of it in my tenure on the message boards.
names? i will give you a looong list that have gotten their due after reporting. it is pretty costly but most get away with little or no time.
have a great weekend!

Can not be too soon. My inlaws and many other babyboomers have lost half of there money slip away.
With the Cuomo today sending a supeonia to the CEO of B o A. The times are changing. The Uptick rule will pass this year, but it sure better allow for better transparentcy as well.
In the Long Run SEC will improve under OBAMA....But there is a lot of dead wood over there...hired by Bush, with civil service rights
Well they Got Sanford today in VA. You just can not hide from the Feds. Except in Iran, tribal areas in Pakistan and North Korea. Nothing wrong with being rich and making a ton of $$$, BUT do they have to hurt so MANY people? How about make half of what you would have made, that half will tell there friends/family how great you and See you NEVER had to hurt anyone.. Just do NOT get Criminal Greed. I get the Freemarket Greed ofcourse and Love it!! But hurting people to make a buck? life is to short to be lieing on Your death bed knowing your a filthy scamming scummbag...
The SEC IMO is NOT waiting for Concrete proof open and shut case's anymore, the Public wants these people arrested and will convict no matter what. No matter how slick a 1,500 an hour Lawyer is.. I give it til July and Criminal charges will start flying left and right on Wall Street. Uptick rule is and will get voted in and that will accompany a level of transpartentcy NEVER seen prior IMO.
so true....and those who understand that...plus whats in the article are one step ahead of the game....rock on
Good article.
The Gloom and Doom Machine is being powered by those that Lost a great deal in 2008. The machine is being fed and burning up the financial sector.
Whats the fastest way to get dollars back in the Fog and Gloom? IMO shorting Stocks...Once THEY have Fed enough THEY will ease back on the market and Buy what they have destroyed...

PureSpectrum, Inc. Receives First Round of Funding From Emirates International Capital Advisory
Lighting Technology Innovator Working Closely With Leading Middle Eastern Financial Advisory and Management Firm 02/19 07:19 AM
SAVANNAH, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/19/09 -- PureSpectrum, Inc. (PSPM:$0.7550,$0.0750,11.03%) has received initial funding from Emirates International Capital Advisory (EICA) in Dubai pursuant to an equity investment commitment agreement reached in December.
EICA is a leading Middle Eastern financial advisory and management firm with a demonstrated interest in investing in small cap technology companies which are bringing innovative products to market. EICA's core investment areas are the Middle East, North Africa and Latin America, and the company actively searches for investment opportunities with technology ventures such as PureSpectrum that are developing energy efficient products and technologies which address environmental concerns with real solutions through innovation.
"This transaction with EICA will provide multiple benefits for PureSpectrum and our shareholders," said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta, who met with EICA representatives in Dubai earlier this week during the Middle East Electricity Exhibition and Conferences. "In addition to receiving this initial investment, we have begun working with EICA to identify and capitalize on business opportunities within member nations of the Gulf Coast Council as well as other parts of the Middle East and North Africa. Both PureSpectrum and EICA share a belief that innovation is the foundation for economic growth and recovery, and we are confident that our relationship with EICA will have a lasting impact on PureSpectrum's mission to be a leader in lighting innovation now and in the future. We anticipate many more developments to come from this unique partnership."
"At EICA, we believe strongly in the introduction of new, more energy efficient technologies and PureSpectrum's products and technologies match our philosophy," said EICA partner Sam Higgins. "As the worldwide effort to reduce energy consumption continues, we are excited to be able to accelerate the acceptance of energy efficient lighting products through an investment in superior technology that addresses consumer performance demands. As governments throughout the world continue to promote and support businesses devoted to launching energy efficient products, we believe companies like PureSpectrum will continue to identify and realize opportunities on a global scale."
The initiation of the relationship with EICA is yet another indicator of PureSpectrum's progress and stability following several weeks of high volume trading which resulted in a 400% increase in PureSpectrum's stock value. Since the beginning of the year, PureSpectrum's continued commitment to sound business principles, transparency in reporting, steady progress in product development and overwhelmingly positive feedback from the lighting and utilities industries has resulted in increased investor confidence and consistent gains for the company's stock price.
"We have told our investors from the outset that PureSpectrum's mission is to be a leading innovator in the lighting industry, and we have developed products and technologies which have a clear and proven benefit to consumers in many different markets and applications," Vanatta said. "I believe our fundamental dedication to integrity and the high quality of the products and technologies we have created is being rewarded with investor loyalty and confidence. We will continue to work diligently to affirm our shareholders' belief in the company and capitalize on the momentum we have built."

thanks Bio,
but every small dog has his day when he reads the papers instead of tearing them up. The Company has a product that crosses all gender and finance. A cfl that can dim like an incandescent, a cfl less expensive and longer shelf life than competition. Going to Amex in beginning of q-2. Lee was in DC in early January for meet and greets with the decision makers. Would not surprise me if he has government contracts? If he does? The PPS will rocket to 3 dollars IMO. today should be interesting to see if more profit taking rules the day? with the 80 cent bar achieved it should allow for more buyers being comforted to [get in] and feel they are getting a good deal? regardless, Insiders have moved the PPS as of late because they know the Deal IMO..
listened to the Welwind Conference call last night...stock is at 3 cents, similar companys with similar mega watts under construction trade for between 45cents to 2.10 per share. something to look into if anyone is interested?
have a good day All
juk
Damn SON you are the man here lately....up to .80 and corrected to .68....still a nice move...rock and roll
