I agree with txsinpa AND wakl. Man, I need to be more controversial.
There are no other products that I could find that compete head on with Power On Demand, and very few that compete with the Mobile Power On Demand for the Army. I really don't know why. Both ideas/products seem pretty simple, but maybe there is more to it than meets the eye. Maybe I'm not as good at Googling as I think that I am. Or maybe the products are "under secret development" by other companies.
What this means to me is to watch Arista Power closely. If, and it's a big if, Arista Power can deliver on Power On Demand and the Mobile Power On Demand (or even either of them), then ASPW should take off. But it's a question mark right now until there is more clarity.
So, imo, ASPW is worth dabbling in now as a high-risk, high reward stock. If they start to deliver, though, I think ASPW could take off in ways that really would outweigh the risk at that point (assuming the price is still in the low $0.20s). Maybe not betting the farm at that point, but a cow or two.....
Just the barn.
I wouldn't bet the farm on that statement !!
I searched Google for competing Power on Demand services and the only company to appear is Arista Power. There is no competing product.
It's sometimes the simplest of ideas are the ones most successful. It just needs a company capable of its promotion, execution and management smart enough to know they have the winning hand.
I'm betting that Arista Power is that company.
At the shareholder meeting, they were confident they could save Advanced Glass $2000 / month once they get the programming right. If they can get just one fortune 500 company to try one POD system, and they really impress them with it, they sky is the limit.
I know that is a big IF in the last statement, but that is what we invested into with a startup company.
I don't know if you went to the meeting, but I feel really good with this investment after listening to them speak. I know they went through growing pains last year, but i truly believe the management team was put into a tuff position with the product the started with. Since then, they have made refinements, made new products, and they stated they have new products coming out this year.
Hopefully this year will be better than the last!
I think their was a miscommunication. I was saying they should get certified -> so their is legitimacy to the claims. It comes down to risk vs reward, especially when you are talking about big name companies. Example... Would Apple spend $100,000 only to save 80,000 over 20 years? One would think not (stranger things have happened) but point being a certification in hand, is a selling point. Selling points = good, more contracts= more money, more $$$= stock price increase
Think you might be ahead of yourself ... To get tax breaks etc you need to meet the CERT> ...
They would get instant tax breaks (both Federal and State) plus the expectation of energy savings while appearing environmentally friendly to the public.
What number are you talking about that shows savings verses cost /payback. Please post...
Why wait for outside/independent certification when the only numbers of interest are the savings "they" encounter from "their" installs. Their individual savings would determine future contract renewals for their world wide locations.
Absolutely!!
With the administration pushing "green" and offering tax break incentives for doing so, a Fortune 500 company would have nothing to lose and much to gain --- both financially and environmentally.

The proof is in the pudding...their pudding!
So of these possible contracts... Do you think a fortune 500 company will buy these PODS without some sort of certification/ numbers/ incentives?
I was not a big fan of the announce the contract and complete it > 6months later.
Not only imminent but with large companies (Fortune 500)with multible locations.
I was at the meeting. I got the impression there were more Power on Demand contracts imminent. And yes, they appeared extremely optimistic about the Army's forthcoming contracts.
Of course one doesn't make the announcement until the dotted line is signed.
They didn't address whether they would announce each POD system, but they would be foolish if they didn't.
They did state that the price of some installs could reach the high 6 figures, and that these are highly profitable!
txsinpa - welcome. I agree with you. This is the place to let it all hang out!
My hopes are that an Army deal is announced SOON. And that Power on Demand systems keep getting sold. We need deals (numbers!) to close, and the sooner the better.
I wonder if ASPW will announce each Power on Demand deal. Did they mention that at the annual meeting?
THIS IS THE BOARD where we should all express our knowledge, outlook, hopes, suggestions and yes, frustrations.
HAHA you must want the open bar??
I'm just going to the reception :)
Wakl,
I picked out my outfit for that wedding a long time ago....hope it is still in style!!! Cheers!!
Mferraro I have seen nothing . That said, i'm going to take a flyer here and say that the whole package between both companies is one of those tit-for-tat deals to get things off the ground. Probably won't see anything until a 10Q and some sort of explanation....IMO get ready for the wedding march IMO.
WNDT typically lists the sale amount on their PR's..does anybody know how much Ultralife paid for the 8.0GT? Or was it posted and I missed it.
Mferraro
Been out of town this week for a death in the family and a college graduation. Missed the whole "Tamer" transaction. Very happy with the new company look. I would like to propose a toast, with a manhattan in hand,... TO THE END OF WIND BLAMER AND LONG LIVE POSITIVE POWER. Now close the sales and show me the numbers.
Sunnn
Money - I think a link to the press release where Schmitz stated that 2011 booked sales would be $15 - $25 million is a good addition.
Thanks again.
Hey Liberty, the issue with Intertek is that once you install the turbine and begin the testing process you cannot touch it again for the entire testing cycle (no repairs or adjustment) only standard service work can be done. I think that they are trying to iron the bugs out on their own before dropping the $60K. IMO
MrMoney - much appreciated that you take on the 'chore' of being a moderator.
My personal preference would be to nix anything looking 'promotional' and the intro you posted looks just a little that way - also, it's a pain to scroll down too far, so def shorten it. I also have learned that pictures are better than text in cases like this.
But, I'm not the moderator - so do as you please.
P.S> you should post somewhere on the bottom or wherever what your position is, long or short or no holdings. I've noticed several board moderators do that. I think some of the boards even state whether the company runs or controls the board. Just disclaimers to cover yourself. Who knows in this wild west.
Oh yea, btw,
Libertywish=LONG!
Mr. Money - Any way you can get some pictures off of the Arista Power website and put them into the info box? And a longer term stock chart?
Otherwise, I think it's great.
I updated the ibox today, as you probably all noticed. I plan on updating it more when I can find the time. Please e-mail me your suggestions. I am sure that I won't get to it immediately, but typically in a day or two I can. I plan on adding sticky news too, and then updating sticky news when "stuff" happens.
I agree with Libertywish. This board should stick to the company and related items. It sounds like the company will be producing enough news to let us do that. I'm hoping the moderators will put up some more company information in the intro box, and the stickies. HINT. HINT.
Promotions that the moderator should knock them off the board for. Keep your posts about the stock and company.
No, this company doesn't do the pump and dump. If anything, they've been very quiet. It would be nice to hear more info, but it's also appreciated that they don't over do it, like a lot of other wild west shows on the otcbb. They are definitely reputable, unlike a lot of other junk out here. I didn't gather from this meeting that they were slouches or slimy people. Last I checked, management and employees should get paid or they could go anywhere else. Also, they are all shareholders themselves, so they have the shares in their best interests. Some PhD just did a big research project on all public companies, and the worst performing ones were the ones that management and the Board didn't own much stock in their company. I believe all these people have ponied up their own money to buy stock. Every move in the wrong direction hurts them too.
Not sure what the story was on Intertek - the answer wasn't too forthcoming, but I got that they were working on it, and a lot of other things.
Only the company knows the value of the contracts, but the company did give revenue estimates of $15 - 20 Million for 2011, so that should give you should give you some idea.
What are these promotions you guys are talking about?
I'm learning DD doesn't apply to OTC or any other penny-type stocks. Promotion drives prices up.
No promotion ....YET? . It does have a history and Like any Pink sheet it needs your DD ! I can't make comment On Lexg as it is way to early and not the same business sector........
Any promotion on this company? Another LEXG?
A lot of companies have business based on government sales. Maybe I will rephrase schwing, I think the point I am going after is that the management doesn't suffer while we wait, but the shareholders like me and you do. Their pay check keeps coming and depending on your average and how many shares you own determines how much you can make/lose in the mean time.
Im a new Arista Power investor and was wondering if anyone knows how big the army contract is that I keep reading about?
I agree with you Merle.
Apparently other investors also agree per today's action.
Finally, a light at the end of the tunnel...and it's NOT a train.
My bet is mobile units get this company off the ground, but the POD system is the future!
I don't know, libertywish. My bet is on those mobile units as being the big money maker. I think the turbines and solar pay the rent, Power on Demand makes us some money and the mobile units gets us rich. Well.... I'm happy to be wrong and have the Power on Demand make us rich!!
I'm happy to see the stock moving around today right after that great meeting and the name change/ticker symbol change.
It's great they are still using the dawt wind turbine too. The power demand system sounds dull and techy but the wind turbine is so noticeable, it is what draws people to the company and its products.
It is obvious the power demand system is going to be the money maker.
Nice to see a positive board. I think the shorts should stay on their own board. Tired of your obvious slant against the company xtrabubble.
I went to the annual meeting and thought it was great. It was quite a crowd especially in relation to other annual meetings I have been at.
I thought Bill Schmitz was great and his message was more than clear. There was no doubt he fully expects those numbers. He was confident and obviously very excited. It really showed to the whole crowd. And I don't think that guy can fake that. He even seemed relaxed, or maybe relieved, that he finally has a tool or tools to get what he wants. He really came across to me as if he may have had an unfair start and had to take care of a lot of issues that he walked into - and now he's like relieved or something so he can finally get his chance to show what he can do.
Someone did ask the hard questions. I thought a lot of the questions were hard. BTW, they just came out with a 10q, so just read that.
It's a bit of a bummer, being a green energy promoter, that they are not going to do too much residential, but as an investor, it seems to me that they offer a phenomenal, maybe never seen before, product that is going to show big numbers for us quick. Taken a look back in perspective, this is still a very young company, has come a long way, and if they meet that target this year - WOW.
Real time it is >17 guys...SORRY My real time has not made the change over to Aspw You are correct.
LOI from the Military to purchase and was wondering about weather was a pill in it. I believe i read in one of the Pr's that a letter was out their...
Wakl - What LOI and poison pill are you talking about?
merle - looks like someone saw something that they liked at the annual meeting! Let's go ASPW!
xy:
Thanks for the reply. I followed up with my friend who was at the meeting on your Intertek question (as an aside, I asked him for a overall summary of the meeting that he's putting together).
He said Intertek testing WAS addressed by Schmitz in his speech. He said that they have been working with Intertek to be sure that they meet the specs when the turbine is put up in the Fall. So, I don't love that answer because I'd much rather them say that the turbine is up and being tested. But, they did address the issue with a current status and it makes sense that they want to be 100% sure that they will pass the test before they just throw the turbine up (like prior management would).
To my knowledge, they never gave a project for 2010. Anyone else ever hear of one? If they did, I think someone would have heard and posted it.
No company EVER guarantees estimates. Project/estimate is the common language.
Great question on dilution - wish that were asked at the annual meeting (if it was, my friend missed it). But I think just about any company with a $20 million market cap that shows tremendous sales growth like $.5 in one year to $15 - $25 million in the next would really have a stock that could pop up significantly. I guess there's a chance that it wouldn't, but I'll take that chance. ASPW does not have any funky capital structure, just a lot of shares, so it's fairly easy math. Downside is 100%, upside is limitless (ok, reality is around 10x, but that's still pretty darn good).
And I'm hardly have blind faith. Other than Intertek, which I agree isn't really what I expected the Schmitz team has delivered on all prior projections. I find it hard to believe that Schmitz AND Matthews, two credible guys with documented histories, would be giving projections that they don't really, really believe in.
But, time will tell. And they better start announcing some bigger deals in the next month or two, or I'm gonna get really "curious" (ok, tough for Schwing's sake!) about how the heck they'll get to $15 million.
Nice volume and nice increase in share price. Maybe this is a new beginning for the company.
IMO. ULBI trading @ 4.46 down from 7.00 ++ ASPW still trying to get off the ground No sustained sales.down to .17 I have said from day one that these two companies are in bed. If not at the beginning It looks like now for sure. IMO> there will be a marriage of these two companies to get the PPS at a level to keep the two companies alive IMO> This may not happen until SOMETHING gets sold to show that the marriage will be a good one. REMEMBER the Team of ASPW all came from ULBI. I wish them both the best. Waiting for NUMBERS NUMBERS NUMBERS....the new web page is nice. The advertisement is nice. The new name is THE BEST? Just because the name has changed does not make everything all roses. THE LOI is NICE but if there is NO POISON PILL that is part of the LOI it means nothing! Perhaps the LOI can be posted for all to read? IMO
Isn't ULBI's existence based upon military sales? I think that waiting for the government to wanna buy is how it's done.
Jesrey,
Blind faith in anything is not a virtue.
And I am hardly always negative.
And sorry for being a realist, but there are still many questions that are as yet unaswered.
They are projecting 15 to 25 million in sales this year - great. What was last years projection? How close did they come to it?
What will 15 to 25 mill do to the companies valuation?
How many shares will they be selling in the future that will eat into this valuation?
I have been past the Intertek test site twice more and still see no windtamer. Yet they say it's ongoing? It's only a 5 hour drive from Jersey - take a day trip and see for yourself.
At an annual meeting I would expect to hear things like "they said" and "they are projecting." What I was hoping to hear was "they provided us with", "they published", "they showed us", etc.
Pull yourself out of the situation, look at it from the outside. These are things anyone would say when they are trying to look good to the public.
It sounds like even though there were 150 investors in the room, that none of them were tech saavy or critical enough to ask the follow-on questions. Sounds like the questions were softball.
I agree - always negative is bad, but blind faith is way worse.
