First day of ASPW trading. Let's see if it's better than WNDT!
They had nothing to sell , with the problems they had to deal with , and when they finally got the bugs worked out the payback to a home owner just isn't marketable until they get volume , ie the Army contract and commercial installations .
That is no excuse. You cannot base a business on solely waiting for the government. What if the government cuts the Defense budget? Now you are royally screwed. You need to have sales beyond the government, thats just how it is. If the military signed a LOI, you at least have them in a contractual position (which is still not guaranteed).
A governmental purchase would be big news for tamer/ arista, until then lets push sales of any kind out the door. They need the cash, and you can't deny that fact.
I think that could have been avoided had the budget been adopted without conditions.
Your future looks bright. I will buy shares in you, and then you can issue a couple million more to "cover payroll!!"
This has more up to date info. then Windtamer put out in a year and a half. Now it's about numbers...Any relevant news that can be posted in post-its???
That's fair AND politically correct. I would love to see it happen, which is why I still hold shares. Maybe there is a cleansing in changing names.
hear, hear to jersey and sweet, Go ASPW
Jersey,
I myself have been around since day 1,(along with many other oldtimers who I enjoy exchanging ideas with). I have always tried to remain as positive as possibble. We all have our days when we get discouraged but I feel like the management team will succeed.
I have not been posting as much lately, simply because I felt like most (not all...objective posts are always appreciated)of the posts were a conspiracy of lynch mobbers!!
Thanks for your positive and objective input..it is appreciated by this poster.
My standard reply to most of the negativity has always been...if you don't like the direction the compay is going...then sell...don't bash.
Good luck to ASPW and all of its holders that have not given up hope.
Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown at the meeting yesterday. I've been to many shareholder meetings over my 50 years of investing with this ranking right up there with the big boys.
All shareholder questions and concerns were answered without hesitation. Management portrayed a team that was at the top of their game with success as their ultimate goal.
I'm old enough to know bulletin board stocks are high risk; but I left that meeting feeling a lot more comfortable with my investment.
Schwing:
I do not include you in the "nothing but negative" crowd. You are objective. Tough (which is good), but objective.
I've made my position very clear, and it has NOT always been rosy so I have to disagree with you on my take on the company. I said that prior to Schmitz taking over in April 2010, this company was "different" (now that's being politically correct!). I said that IF Schmitz delivers on what he says, this company/stock should do great. I gave them lots of crap for the huge delays on AGI installation, so I don't think that I'm very rosy.
What I'm consistently said, though, is that Schmitz has delivered on everything that he said that he would. That, to me, means that there's a very good chance that he'll deliver on the $15 - $25 million of booked orders, which would really be great for the stock.
Others say that articles in Forbes is bad, and that the Ultralife order is bad. Not sure how anyone can make those arguments who is remotely objective.
I was at the annual meeting. It was very positive. Very professional. Like the Dude said, Schmitz took every question. He was amazing. I heard that he was not well liked by the crowd last year. Well things have changed. He answered all questions, was very nice and actually funny.
Matthews explained very thoroughly all of the company’s products as he flipped through the new website, and explained that he expects the Army deal AND other government deals to happen within a few months. Both Schmitz and Matthews repeated the $15 - $25 million booked sales target. Both said that the lack of a federal budget for 6 months has delayed things, and that the Army deal has been a huge focus for them. They explained that many militaries around the world follow the US Army with purchasing technology, and that the US Army does 80% of the world’s military R&D. They rattled off a bunch of other militaries around the world that they expect to sell to after the Army deal.
Matthews explained that they have migrated away from the unprofitable residential sales to military/commercial sales, and will circle back to residential when they have enough volume from military/commercial to drive prices down. Matthews said that the commercial sales cycle was around 3 – 9 months, and that things were starting to kick in.
I stuck around for 30 minutes after the meeting chatting with other shareholders, and Schmitz and his team were still talking to anyone who approached them.
This doesn’t sound like a company that isn’t confident that they are going to deliver.
Dude, it seems as though you have a chip on your shoulder. I have posted negative and positive, but I am probably in your negative cast because most of my recent (or not so recent) posts have been out of frustration. I could not attend the meeting because I was traveling. I do feel encouraged by what I have read. I'm not going to just spew negativity and I will give the new name and website and direction a chance. I still believe that tamer has made some near-fatal flaws, but if the company can be saved then of course I will be happy, because I have a pile of shares.
When I read all positive posts by a single author, I have to question myself as to what their motives are. This hasn't been 2 years of rainbows and sunsets. I think that by now, this company should have been shooting turbines out of the loading dock like the octomom in the delivery room. Yes there have been bumps in the road.
So, I would like to hear from other regular posters about what they saw and heard, and let's see if waki's wind gods are going to toast their favorite adult beverage to the birth of this new company.
I was at the meeting also Chas. I thought they did a very good job and by the sounds of it they are sitting exactly where they want to be.
They stated that at the conference in Myrtle Beach, Mark Matthews had the attention of every US military division. If we get the Army contract, I bet we see orders from the other divisions also.
Like Chas said, the POD system is definitely their future. They explained about the demand charge, and stated how the U.S. is not the only ones who pay it, but there are also other countries that pay it.
They stated they are still doing testing with Intertek, so that should quiet the naysayers down.
Also they stated that new products will be introduced later this year.
It's been a long 2 years holding this stock, but after the meeting i have a feeling this year is going to be what we've all been waiting for!
xy:
I hope the moderators here don't allow the "everything is negative" tone spewed by so many - LIKE YOU - from the prior Board to continue here. It's ridiculous, and your alterior motives are clear to anyone with a half a noodle.
I had a friend who went to the meeting, and said that there were FOUR rounds of applause at the meeting and over 150 people there. Schmitz, Mahon and Matthews presented for an hour, then took 20+ questions in Q&A for 45 minutes. EVERY question. Easy ones. Hard ones. Stupid ones. Every one.
In particular, Schmitz and Matthews each repeated the estimate $15 million PLUS booked sales for 2011. Trying to get more details, and will post when I do (good and bad - imagine that!)
So, all you Rochester people who post nothing but negative things (like there won't be an annual meeting, for one - WRONG) had your chance to get off your butts, spend a few hours actually seeing and hearing with your own eyes and ears and ask management in person about any doubts. My bet is that you guys are just cowards and Monday morning quarterbacks and would rather throw anonymous stones.
Based on the enthusiastic crowd, new website, announcements of business, it sounds like things are moving forward pretty quickly in the right direction.
Unfortunately I couldn't make the annual meeting because work has had me out of town for days.
I've read the posts about the positive meeting and bright future, but did anyone ask the tough questions? Did anyone ask them how on earth they could demand over 1 million in payroll, with two year buyout clauses based on their dismal performance?
I could have predicted a positive spin the presentation would have been bright and positive. But did anyone ask serious questions about the REAL numbers? Share dilution? Compensation packages?
My future looks very bright too, would any of you like to buy shares in me?
This is kind of like when you go to the bank and try to convince them to loan you money. You only tell the bank the good, positive stuff. Then the bank (doing proper DD) asks you all sorts of tough questions.
This should've been the same deal.
LinkedIn goes public today with an expected market cap of over 4 billion. Maybe Arista should try social networking too while they're at it.
Looks like Arista Power is really going after the military market with this product:

The US Army already bought one, and have been testing for more than a year. Time for more orders??
