Good repost...shorly after Amarin hosted American Heart Health ball in Manhattan.
STS-I support that decision, very cool car.

Good find... R-I is mentioned in the "Discussion" part at the end. When R-I results come in strong, the gold standard will have been set and it will be game, set, and match for everyone else. 40+ patents with 30+ SE data. That's a big fortress wall.

No , the fake news is that Eskimos have higher CVD incidence although they eat mostly fish. In fact nowadays they eat a lot of carbs and sugar instead , hence the very high CVD incidence

I am still say the same as North: IT has jurisdiction, since it isn't a scientific issue. The linked / cited case was basically different case ... the common thing (the reason for citation): if Amarin will fail at ITC (I do not think) and FDA won't act against the "DS" Amarin could not win the case ... acc. to the Supreme Court, but I am sure somebody think it differently ...
Best,

YEa NEJM is fake news after all
HDG thx for the DD .
Hopefully the boards other legal scholar ( poster North ) will comment
Note North's post #115772
"ITC has jurisdiction, IMO, and needs neither advice/opinion from FDA nor us in determining that initial question. "
...hmmm ..after reading your link ...maybe /maybe not re North's view

Again, what is the avg EPA/AA ratio nowadays in Greenland inuit? I bet it is not so very different from US, due to western dietary habits.
PS how come you, as an MD, post bloggers links (huffington ??) and I, who I am not an MD, post only scientific/medical research? That is the real food for thought...

Eskimos eat blubber, don't they? Not exactly the same as a piece of salmon, is it?
Puffington post all I needed to see..
Worth to read ... K-V Case Tests Limits of ITC Jurisdiction before buy an option for the binary event ... Amarin "takings" claim win against the United States ...
Food for thought ....
A map of world Omega three intake

Note that it is highest in the arctic – so what is the level of heart diesase in eskimos?
Unfortunately it does not appear to correlate ;

Very doubtful Ketchum purchased those shares with his own money - AMRN is quite liberal in providing freebies to execs as part of their compensation, really no reason to spend cash for shares. That said, pretty sure some of them used options to get shares that they did have to kick in some money for, just don't have the time to research it right now, way behind here, trying to catch up today.
North, are you suggesting EPA may have restored some limited function to your previously defunct pancreatic beta cells, islet cells, and they're now producing a bit of insulin? You mention asking about frozen blood samples, answer was no - but why do you need them? Can't you just retest now and compare the results to the negative ones you got years ago? Given your age, I would think any improvements would have to be due to taking V - do you have pre-V and post-V lipase test data?

Mortality rate per 1000 all cause, is lower in Belize than in the USA.

Anyone have access to this report?

You should stick to 4 grams and feel free to eat fish too..It's OK

PS, we do not know Belize's avg EPA/AA ratio but we know that Belize pro-capita annual fish consumption is lower than US (14.9kg vs 21.8 kg) and much lower than Japan (25.7kg). Thanks Ralphey, for that

Type in typical diet in Belize and the item below shows up first. I don't see too much chance of EPA in that, but I could be wrong.
Belize Rice and Beans. The traditional and world-famous Belize Rice and Beans with potato salad is a staple in the Belizean diet. ...
and what is Belize avg EPA/AA ratio? Without that information we cannot do any meaningful comparisons
I do not have Sudan and Belize EPA/AA ratio figures... i doubt they do such such type of measurements there , but if you have feel free to share
Sudan and Belizes figures?
Seemingly, the PPS keeps moving little for quite a while, and no reason to jump or dump dramatically with current situation in a few months.
It is a good environment for specific Option Play, e.g. Sell Call if you have owned commons. For short term Options, one may sell Just Above Water, e.g. selling 2017 Nov Call.
For long term Options, buying In-The-Money Call may make you rich.
Ralphey's QUESTION:
'Interesting logic - so if I recall correctly places like SUDAN and Belize and Norway have some of the highest consumption of EPA per capita - what do their mortaltity rates show ?'
ANSWER:
From the link below, you will see that the avg Norway EPA/AA ratio in more than 1,000 people (with suspected CAD) was 0.34 (0.26 for smokers) better than US avg (< 0.1, this is a well known figure in particular for people suffering from CVD) but worse than avg Japan ratio (around 1, as measured in Jelis)
http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0129049
From this other link you will see that CHD deaths incidence by country is ca 77 in US, ca 56 in Norway and ca 30 in Japan
http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/coronary-heart-disease/by-country/
So Norway is somewhere in between US and Japan when it comes to EPA/AA ratio and CHD mortality.
Thank you for providing further evidence that EPA/AA ratio is inversely correlated to CHD (death risk).
Thanks! I'll report the results back to the board.
UFO
That sounds like a reasonable course ... hope it works !!
I'm going to give this Rx at 4g/day 30 days to reach a systemic saturation point and then have my AA/EPA ratio checked. Is that the way to go?
UFO
UFO ... as with most dietary supplements the toxicity of EPA is low - ie you can probably take a lot before it causes any significant issues - unfortunately I dont know if anyone is in possession of the data you want - ie how much is too much - and that will vary person by person ..... I am not aware of anyone overdosing on fish ....
some meds are very toxic as dosage increases - for example the older tricyclic antidepressants went rapidly from useful to toxic upon doubling or tripling dosage.
Hi Ralphey. Yeah, that's what initiated my question to JL. I don't want to get to that negative effects, crossover point. The reason I'm taking 4g's a day is I heard people here on the board saying that was the normal adult, therapeutic dose and that's what I told my Dr. I wanted to take. If that dosage is high to the point that it means I shouldn't consume EPA from any other sources, I need to know about it...I'll cut back on the Vascepa.
UFO
UFO .. In general increasing dosages do not continually increase benefit in a linear progression
For example if you double your dosage of your BP pill you do not double its lowering capacity. Most benefit from medications occur within their initial dosages - increases after that have diminishing returns and eventually will turn into negative side effects
Interesting logic - so if I recall correctly places like SUDAN and Belize and Norway have some of the highest consumption of EPA per capita - what do their mortaltity rates show ?

No doubt STS if this is brought to FDA's attention and they believe they are unapproved drugs they will surely issue letters to the manufacturers warning them they are selling unapproved drugs.
Bottom line then..."Tally Ho" (I think I'll have some grilled salmon for dinner to celebrate!)

Hopefully apply of R-I indication in late 2018...
One crooked Advisory Committee cardiologist from Colorodo I guess Dr. Hart (I forgot his name) or someone raised this Bleeding question during the Anchor Adcom and FDA responded saying they didn't find any safety issues with V taking 4gms a day. This has been dealt in the past, imo. And I think Zum has posted a link for a literature How much EPA is so much enough.
DS maker relied on post hoc analyses, which the FTC disputed as being stat sig - which is why AMRN having 30+ SE's as official data points such a great idea, part of the trial design, no ad hoc controversy over planned subgroup analysis (no cherry picking data).
Speaking of DES......was just on Amazon buying some sundries, including some eye drops (ragweed season making eyes a bit dry/itchy despite V)....when I started typing "dry eye relief" into the search box, the top rec'd item before I hit "enter" was an O3 capsule product - regular fish oil + flaxseed oil:
Lipotriad Dry Eye Formula - 1400mg Omega-3 Supplement – With Natural Triglyceride Fish Oil

Quote: "Basic question I guess is how much EPA is too much?"
Let's think about it...The USA deaths from coronary heart disease is 78 deaths per 100,000 annually and the USA death rate from Alzheimers is 45 deaths per 100.000 annually....
If we compare this to the Jap figures of 30 deaths from CHD. There is no mention of Alzheimers in the jap numbers (think this might be an EPA effect?) stroke is 8 deaths higher per 100,000 in Japan. Infection rates pneumonia and influenza are much higher 30 per 100,000... lung cancer is higher in the USA...35/100K vs 21/1ooK..(? another EPA effect more Japs smoke)...
On the whole looks like you would have to take a huge amount of EPA to eliminate the benefits of EPA to the USA diet...Only in Japan where most people have Japanese level EPA/AA ratios do you run the risk of raising your risks above the populations...
":>) JL
This also brings up a question as to how much different people should take a day. Should a 110 ib lady take the same amount of vascepa as a 220 lb male?
