You tend to always belittle the use of any legal protection of IP.
"The Chinese will steal it"
"a big company will throw money at it"
"The owner won't defend it"
etc, etc.

While I do not think that all patents and licenses are unbreakable,
It is my opinion that each such protection makes it harder to steal IP and get away with it.

As I said, KBLB has many layers of such protection and that sort of situation can be extremely daunting to a would be infringer.

Yes it is easy to steal, but a theft of KBLB's products would be impossible to conceal, and the potential penalties are enormous.

Even a giant like DuPont would think three times before putting themselves in the position of having to simultaneously defend themselves against infringement suites by UW, UND, Sial, Sgmo, and not least KBLB.
Why not least? Because the CEO of KBLB just happens to be an IP litigator who has won tens of millions of dollars in just such suits.

The bigger the company, the deeper the pockets, and judges and juries tend to make awards in such cases of small companies and non -profits vs. giants by measuring the depth of those pockets and trying to empty them.

At the other end of the spectrum, it is worthless for Joe Schmerl to steal these sorts of products and secrets because he CAN NOT sell the stolen good on a street corner or to a fence.
He would have to sell to a large company such as adidas or nike or dupont, and they have no interest whatsoever in receiving stolen goods that are indelibly marked as to whom they were stolen from.
THEY can not afford the liability!
