The NHL has joined forces with SLG Entertainment leader Stan Lee - one of the creative geniuses behind the likes of Spider-Man and countless other comic phenoms -- and POW! Entertainment to embark on an unprecedented adventure. The resulting Guardian Media Entertainment (GME) group has developedcomic superheroes for all 30 NHL teams. Development for each character came in discussions with each NHL club, so the creators could get a feel for how to incorporate the feel of the team and town into each individual Superhero. The Guardian Project, with superheroes representing each of the league's 30 teams and featured via a between-periods event at the NHL All-Star Game, has a promotional partner in NBCUniversal, Variety reports. The entertainment trade paper said that Howard Baldwin, the former part owner of the Penguins and now a Hollywood producer, brokered the deal with NBCU. "The Guardian Project," produced through Guardian Media Entertainment in a partnership between Stan Lee's POW! company and the NHL, is being developed as a TV series, films, comic books, games, licensed merchandise and theme park attractions. So far, NBCU is set to push "Guardian" material across its TV channels and other media outlets, Variety said. In April, NBC Sports reached a 10-year deal with the NHL to air its games on NBC and cable network Versus through the 2020-21 season. The story said there would be a redesign of "The Guardian Project's" website to offer more social media possibilitiesand mobile gaming options in the first quarter of 2012. http://blogs.sites.post-gazette.com/index.php/arts-a-entertainment/popi/27918-nbcuniversal-partners-with-nhl-guardian-project- | | |

Stan Lee's ANNIHILATOR Movie Is Moving Forward
Joey Paur1 month ago
Movie Like on Facebook Submit to Reddit
Feb 22 / 2013
Back in the day Stan Lee created some of the greatest comic book superheroes of all time. Lately though the characters he's come up with have been pretty forgettable. But one of his latest characters he's created is Annihilator, and he's on his way to the big screen.
Annihilator is a Chinese prisoner who goes through a crazy scientific procedure in which he's infused with the powers of several different animals. Producer Barry Josephson (Enchanted, Bones, Wild Wild West) has signed on to help develop the film with Magic Storm Entertainment. The script was written by Dan Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy, Real Steel).
As much as I've enjoyed what Lee has created in his career this is one of those things that seems like it's going to be a hard sell. But, it looks like this is going to happen, and I hope it ends up exceeding my expectations. It's just hard not to think that it's going to be a dud. Josephson had this to say in a statement,
One of my dreams when I became a producer was to work with Stan Lee. Now with Dan Gilroy's magnificent script, that dream will become a reality.
We also have a story synopsis from the press release. Read through it and let us know if you think it will make for a good movie.
ANNIHILATOR tells the story of a young Chinese expatriate, Ming, who must choose between remaining in prison or enlist in a secret US super soldier program. The program uses targeted genetic enhancements from various animal species. Ming chooses to undergo this nearly fatal procedure and through his extreme resolve, gained as a result of his family's tradition of practicing Qijong and martial arts, he survives. Now, armed with remarkable abilities, he must confront a former rival with his own set of enhanced faculties. Our reluctant hero is forced not only to face his personal demons, but also to defeat the villain who will destroy everything that he knows and loves.

Comikaze: Stan Lee unveils trailer for mobile game Verticus
Verticus, an upcoming mobile game from comics icon Stan Lee, enlists anyone with an iPhone to save the Earth from alien invaders.
Lee and the game's developers debuted a trailer for Verticus during a Saturday morning press conference at Comikaze, the homegrown pop culture convention at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The trailer opens with a view of Earth from space as Lee's distinctive voice narrates: "The world is in peril. An evil alien race known as the Obliterators has infiltrated the Earth's core, where they're constructing a horrific doomsday device… No weapon or ordinary human has any hope of reaching it in time, except for our hero."
The hero is Verticus, a new character created by Lee for the game, which is slated for an October release. Verticus was developed by Moonshark, a fledgling publisher backed by CAA and Qualcomm. The company aims to connect Hollywood creative talent with independent game developers to create mobile games - like this summer's DancePad, a popular app developed with Jennifer Lopez.
"There's a massive explosion in mobile entertainment, and in particular mobile gaming, over the last few years," said Moonshark's chief executive Matt Kozlov. "On the one hand are Hollywood creators who are extremely talented and intelligent and creative and innovative, and who have spent their careers defining their style…. On the other side, there are tons of great independent game studios who are putting out phenomenal products that may not get noticed as well as they might deserve."
Moonshark connected Dallas-based developer Controlled Chaos Media with Stan Lee to create the free-falling superhero game. The process was extremely collaborative, Kozlov said, and Lee contributed his likeness and voice talent (he voices the game's mission commander) in addition to character and story design. Moonshark, which began in 2011, decided early on to recruit Lee.
"He has created literally the most beloved characters in the world and some of the most popular characters in the world, from Spider-Man to Iron Man to the X-Men to The Avengers," Kozlov said. "Stan Lee is an American icon for hero development and character development, and in games, every game has a hero."
In Verticus, Lee created a futuristic hero whose high-tech, heat-resistant suit allows him to freefall through the atmosphere, diving past skyscrapers and through caves and tunnels on a journey to the center of the Earth. In the core, Verticus does battle with the alien menace, defuses a bomb and comes up on the other side of the planet, ready to take on more missions using gravity to yo-yo through the Earth's core.
Kozlov called the game "an infinite faller," comparing it to the popular iOS game Temple Run. In typical arcade fashion, the game doesn't end, but rather increases in difficulty. Players collect coins and orbs, allowing them to upgrade their suit and weapons. Gamers using social media will be able to compete against each other for high score and longest distance traveled.
Though the character wears a "Tron"-like suit, he bears some resemblance to classic superheroes like the Rocketeer and Iron Man.
"[Lee's] DNA is really infused in the game," Kozlov said. "You, Verticus, are singlehandedly responsible for the fate of the planet. That's a very Stan Lee conflict."
The game will be available on all iOS devices - including iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch - this fall. No concrete plans have been made for an Android version, Kozlov said.
"We have a lot of great plans to expand the universe and to dive even further into this world and these characters," he said.

Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo
The dean of comic-bookery hosts a pop culture extravaganza downtown.
Saturday, Sep 15, 2012 | Updated 6:03 AM PDT
Jay West
Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo suits up and flies for the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16.
If you were going to launch a comics and pop culture convention, what name would you want above the title?
Did you just say Tony Stark? Or Peter Parker? Solid choices, both, but we're talking a real person, who isn't fictional, who has made legendary contributions to all things genre and specifically comic books.
You just thought "Stan Lee," right? Everyone would probably think Stan Lee there, of course; the dean of comics, the co-creator of Spiderman, and the maven of Marvel is the single person most associated with bringing the form to new heights and into the mainstream.
So when Mr. Lee launches a comics convention, as he did in 2011, fans turns up, to the tune of 35,000 people turning up, for its debut. So it was no shocker that Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo had the largest comic-convention debut in the world.
It's set to roll -- or, erm, leap from skyscraper to skyscraper -- for its second year on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. A ticket is $20 for a day -- little Spideys 12 and under get in free -- and organizers are expecting close to double the number of people last year.
Genre favorites like Elvira and Todd McFarlane'll be there, as well as the master of ceremonies himself. Comic sellers, wandering zombies, gaming events, and, yup, cosplay are part of the days.
Cosplayers, you know it'll be like a zillion degrees over the weekend, right? Okay, maybe more like the 90s. We're just saying, put a fan *inside* your Iron Man clankity-clank suit, if possible. There'll be AC inside, natch, but that walk from the parking lot might get damp.

Spider-Man creator all set to woo India with 'Tigeress' movie
New Delhi, Sun Jul 29 2012, 13:57 hrs

The creator of famed comic characters such as Spider-Man and X-Men, Stan Lee is turning his eyes on an Indian mythology-based motion picture whose leading lady would be from India.
The iconic octogenarian, who is "very excited" about the Indian market, is also working on India super hero comic book titled 'Chakra - The Invincible Hero' and even looking to bring his popular comic convention into the country.
"Apart from 'Chakra' super hero comic, I look forward for many opportunities in the Indian market. There is so much of untapped growth and talent in the country," Lee told PTI from Los Angeles in a telephone interview.

POW! or Purveyors of Wonder Entertainment Inc, founded by Lee, is working on the motion picture 'Tigeress'.
"The screenplay is getting ready and the film is mainly based on Indian mythology. The lead actress would be a super heroine and the story would be female-centric," Lee said.
The leading lady of the movie would be an Indian actress. According to him, this project is expected to be complete by end of next year or early 2014. The movie would be distributed in 2014 after tying up with a major film studio, he added.
Meanwhile, the company along with Liquid Comics is in advanced stages of completing 'Chakra', which is also based on Indian mythology.
"At the moment, we are working with the artistes and writers. This comic will be released both in traditional and electronic formats.
"Our goal will be to launch it by the end of this year. Otherwise, it will be in early 2013," Lee said. POW is also scouting for more strategic partnerships and alliances in India.
Without disclosing any names, POW President, Director and CEO Gill Champion said that discussions are continuing with many entities and the goal is to "find regional partners where we can collaborate on numerous co-productions".
Further, plans are on the anvil to bring the Stan Lee's Comikaze POW convention to India, hopefully in 2013. "POW is extremely interested in expanding the Stan Lee brand in India, specifically in the entertainment sector. India is a very big, important and powerful country.
"It is most natural to have a strong presence in that market in the 21st century and going forward," Champion said.
POW focuses on creating franchises for the entertainment industry including animation and live-action feature films, DVDs and video games.

Stan Lee's World of Heroes unveils full lineup
July 09, 2012 | 2:09 p.m.
Stan Lee (Credit: Neftalie Williams)
"The Avengers" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" are both doing heroic business at the box office this summer, but when Comic-Con International begins this week, Stan Lee won't be there to just to bask in the fanboy glow of his Marvel Comics legacy. He'll be there to promote his latest venture, the new YouTube channel Stan Lee's World of Heroes.
"I'm happy as hell that Marvel's doing so well, but I don't spend that much time thinking about it," Lee said during an interview at his office at POW! Entertainment. "The fun of what we do is that we're always moving ahead."
Lee's innate salesmanship and relentless sense of wonder overpower any nostalgia, which is why his name is on a steady stream of projects every fiscal quarter. One of the latest is a new batch of heroic adventures on the World of Heroes, which had a soft launch last month. The channel is a collaboration between Lee's POW! Entertainment and Vuguru, the digital studio created by former Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Michael D. Eisner.

The 89-year-old Lee, who is front and center in his new online endeavor, will appear on a panel on Thursday to formally announce the new channel's lineup, which includes a mix of reality and scripted programming focused around the world of superheroes and geek culture.
Among the shows are "Adrianne Curry's Super Fans," a look at the lives of hard-core fans hosted by reality star (and noted geek) Adrianne Curry; "Head Cases," a scripted comedy series set in a bar frequented by superheroes and villains; "Stan Lee's Academy of Heroes," a reality series taking real people and giving them the training they need to become heroes, an animated show about superhero foul-ups called "Bad Days" and "Geek DIY," a crafting show hosted by Bonnie Burton (author of "The Star Wars Craft Book"), who shows you how to make anything from a steampunk ray gun to your own robot costume.
HULK AT 50: A LOOK BACK
But one of the most distinctive aspects of the lineup are the trio of shows Lee himself is most directly involved in, "Stan Lee's Super.Model" about a trio of superpowered models, "Stan's Rants," a video version of Lee's old Stan's Soapbox column and "Cocktails With Stan," which refashions the comic book icon as a kind of Regis Philbin alongside co-host Jenna Busch as they chat up other geek world icons such as "Castle" star Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day.
"I'm a little bit of a ham and I do enjoy being on camera," Lee explained. "Plus, I get a free drink… I feel like a reincarnated Johnny Carson."
The channel is the outgrowth of a joint venture formed earlier between POW! and Vuguru. Lee wanted to pursue digital storytelling and came to Vuguru, seeking a producing partner. When YouTube announced last year that it would provide $100 million to launch professionally created channels on the site, POW! and Vuguru pitched the idea for a channel devoted to heroes, villains and fans of the comic book genre.
Vuguru's president and chief executive, Larry Tanz, said the raging popularity of this year's sold-out Comic-Con fan convention underscores the broad appeal of this type of storytelling.
"It's gone really mainstream," Tanz said. "The channel, with Stan's imprimatur, is going to be content that's interesting to that audience."
This isn't Lee's first foray into the digital realm. In 1998 he experimented with several Flash animated superhero series under the banner of Stan Lee Media, but the company ran into trouble, filed for bankruptcy and descended into a series of lawsuits by the end of 2000. In 2009, Lee's POW! Entertainment teamed with Disney to release the 10-part digital motion comic series "Time Jumper" through iTunes.
The YouTube channel is just part of Lee's current digital efforts, which also include his own website and more digital comics, including "Stan Lee's The Mighty 7," published by Archie Comics. He's also a playable (and web-slinging) character in the new "Amazing Spider-Man" video game.
Stan Lee in "The Amazing Spider-Man" video game (Activision)
Indeed, Lee has long cultivated a special ability to connect with fans and understand what they're thinking.
"I've been in this business so long dealing with fans that I can really, after launching anything, I can tell within a couple of days of receiving the fan mail and fan emails whether or not we're on the right track," Lee said.
Lee's partner, POW! CEO and President Gil Champion, says they don't expect all of the series they roll out at launch to continue indefinitely. And they'll be looking closely at the YouTube rankings of the over 100 channels of original programming YouTube began launching last year as a kind of Nielsen to determine which shows stay and which ones go.
"It's really a chance to try out shows in this new medium," Champion said. "It's no different than starting a cable channel on traditional television, but it's reaching viewers who'd prefer to watch on a tablet instead of a traditional television."

Stan Lee Assembles His "Mighty 7"
Wed, May 16th, 2012 at 12:30pm PDT | Updated: 18 hours ago

These days, Stan Lee is unavoidable. The legendary writer behind Marvel Comics biggest icons (alongside artists Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby) has spent the past few months on another of his media-saturated stints traveling the country to talk up everything from the box office juggernaut "The Avengers" to a documentary about his life, and along the way he's filmed commercials for Dr. Pepper and more.

Of course, aside from being the elder statesman/promotional spokesman for comics on the national level, Lee also continues to create new concepts via his POW! Entertainment company. On top of recent launches from BOOM! Studios, Viz and 1821 Entertainment, the writer's most recent series is "Stan Lee's Mighty 7" - a new bi-monthly superhero series published by Archie Comics under a new Stan Lee Comics imprint.
Billed as "the world's first reality comic book," the "Mighty 7" series stars a comic version of Lee himself. As the comic writer within the comic struggles to create new superheroes for Archie, a team of both good guys (two Star Marshalls Asoara and Vallor) and bad guys (prisoners Blastok, Mercuria, Faidout, Ovalax and Telepan) crash land into his life. The particulars of that setup were unveiled recently in "Mighty 7" #1, and next week on May 23, issue #2 arrives in shops to further complicate matters with the addition of the villain Frightmask to the mix. CBR News spoke with Lee about the series creation, his history with non-superhero comics from romance to teen comedy, how he's poking fun at himself in the book, how the collaboration with "Mighty 7" script writers Tony Blake and Paul Jackson and artist Alex Saviuk has gone to date and more.

Stan Lee's Super Seven gets a new name and a release date
December 17 / 2011

It's been almost two years since A Squared Entertainment and Archie Comics announced they were teaming up
with Stan Lee and POW! Entertainment to create a comic called Super Seven - not to be confused with the
cartoon of the same name or the toy company with a similar name that filed suit for trademark infringement.
Now it looks like the project is finally going to see the light of day, although with a different name, as Stan Lee's Mighty 7
is showing up on the Previews World site. The story involves seven aliens landing on Earth who are taught to be
superheroes by Stan Lee himself. Alex Saviuk is penciling the book and drew both of its covers (You can find the
variant cover for the book after the jump).
Look for it in March.

LIONSGATE Picks Up New Stan Lee Movie Project
December 12 / 2011

Stan Lee is on a role! Lionsgate has acquired a new and original superhero property from Stan Lee and his POW! Entertainment.
Smallville's Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will write, direct and produce the movie through their Millar/Gough Ink production company.
Just yesterday Lee locked down Dan Gilroy (Real Steel) to adapt an original treatment of his called The Annihilator.
Of course no details have been revealed for the project yet, but it's being described as a "multigenerational superhero movie that
spans several decades." Now that sounds like it could be interesting, I would really love to learn more about it! This could be a
cool movie.

According to Variety, "The comicbook vet approached Gough and Millar with the superhero concept after becoming a fan of Smallville
and collaborating with the two scribes on Spider-Man 2." The two writers are currently in the middle of producing the new Sylvester
Stallone action film Bullet to the Head, which is based on the French graphic novel "Du Plomb Dans La Tete," for Warner Bros.

Dan Gilroy to Write Stan Lee's The Annihilator
December 7, 2011
Screenwriter Dan Gilroy has signed on to pen
The Annihilator (working title) for Magic Storm Entertainment. CEO Eric Mika has announced
that Gilroy would introduce a new Stan Lee superhero of Chinese heritage to global audiences with the company's first film project. Based
on an original Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment treatment acquired by Magic Storm Entertainment, the story chronicles a young man who is
given a second chance as an international superhero and returns home to mete out justice.

"Words can't express how excited I am about this project. It's based on the most incredibly original and unique superhero I've created
in a long time," said Stan Lee. "Best of all, we're excited to be working with a writer as talented as Dan Gilroy to helm the script. I expect
the startling saga of our hero, The Annihilator, to become one of the most talked-about and popular franchises for a new generation
worldwide!" Stan Lee exclaimed.
Gilroy's most recent international box office success includes Disney's
Real Steel. As an established filmmaker of over twenty years,
his credits include Universal's
Two for the Money, starring wife Rene Russo and Al Pacino, as well as The Bourne Legacy, currently
in production.
"Stan's created a ground-breaking superhero for our globalized world. The story spans cultures and continents in thrilling, character-driven
style. Stan is straight-up at the top of his game and it's a joy to have a hand in bringing this to the screen," said Gilroy.
"We could not be more pleased than to have Dan Gilroy come aboard to write this exciting script for our film," said Eric Mika, CEO of
Magic Storm Entertainment. "Dan's knowledge and creative mind will undoubtedly create a strong base for a new franchise to the
super hero genre world-wide."

StanLee's got a new universe, and it's for kids
October 14, 2011 3:22 AM
By MATT MOORE, Associated Press
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Stan Lee's had a hand in creating many memorable heroes
and villains that have jumped from the pages of comic books to popular culture.
Now, he's aiming to bring new stories for an impressionable audience: kids.
The former long-time editor of Marvel Comics and founder of POW! Entertainment will
unveil the imprint Stan Lee's Kids Universe with 1821 Comics on Friday at New York
Comic Con, featuring a roster of kid-friendly and even parent-approved characters ranging
from The Fuzz Posse, a group of police dogs, to Reggie the Veggie Crocodile who has a
penchant for produce.
"The whole idea is to give them the kind of stories that they haven't read before that they
can easily understand and relate to," Lee said ahead of the announcement. "While we
want these to be reasonably educational and good for kids - that goes without saying
- but our main purpose to be entertaining ... kids have a great sense of humor if you
can reach them the right way."
The characters were created during brainstorming sessions between Paris Kasidokostas
Lastis and Terry Dougas of 1821 and Lee.
Dougas said he and Lee have worked for eight years together on ideas and characters for
film and television, but both decided that the market for comics, graphic novels, books and
games for children was ripe for a new universe.
"So Stan and I started discussing - I was kind of mad at myself for not bringing it up these
last eight years I have known him - to start a label for kids."
And that led to the new universe, which Dougas said carries not just the gravitas of Lee's
name but also a banner of creativity.
"We're not on a crusade of any sort. Our main purpose is we feel that there aren't enough
comic books or books for kids that really hit the target, that is that gives them excitement and
humor together and are filled with surprises," Lee said. "And have a whole new group of new
characters that the kids can call their own, just as the teenagers called Spider-Man their own
so many years ago."
The first books under the imprint will include "Monsters Vs. Kittens," from writer and artist
Dani Jones, and "Once Upon a Time" in 2012, followed by "The Fuzz Posse," ''Reggie the
Veggie Crocodile" and "The Animal Band." PRODUCED AND DISTRIBUTED IN
ASSOCIATION WITH VIPER COMICS.
"Reggie the veggie-eating crocodile!" Lee said of the creation who's always favored vegetables
while his crocodile colleagues stick with being carnivores. "They're not supposed to be vegetarians
and poor Reggie becomes an outcast."

NHL, Spider-Man creator Stan Lee join on new superheroes project
October 07 / 2010 / 7:00 AM / News
The National Hockey League and SLG Entertainment LLC, led by Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man and X-Men among
other comics superheroes, announced Thursday their unprecedented partnership to form Guardian Media Entertainment LLC.
This partnership creates the platform from which to launch Stan Lee's vision for his latest superhero franchise, The Guardian
Project, which will encompass the creation of 30 Guardians (one to represent each NHL team) as a new series of superheroes,
with a creative concept that organically and authentically incorporates various NHL elements but is not set in the world of hockey.
"I've always believed that every great plan starts with a great story," Lee said. "In the creation of Guardian Media Entertainment
and its unique and unprecedented relationship with the NHL, I truly believe we have the perfect combination from which to
launch 30 new superheroes and excite young fans around the globe."
Created and developed by Lee and Tony Chargin, Executive Vice President of Creative Affairs at Guardian Media Entertainment,
and Jake Shapiro, each Guardian derives from its corresponding hockey team -- complete with special powers representative
of each team and city. These 30 Guardians will be unveiled together in a special presentation during the 2011 NHL All-Star
Game on Jan. 30 in Raleigh, N.C.
"To be in business with Stan Lee and to be able to bring his latest superheroes to our fans is incredibly exciting to all of us
at the NHL," said Brian Jennings, Executive Vice President, Marketing, for the National Hockey League. "We are in constant
pursuit of new ways to engage our fans and to introduce new fans to hockey, and the business of Guardian Media
Entertainment does exactly that."
Gill Champion, Lee's producing partner and President and COO of POW! Entertainment, said, "This is a wonderful
opportunity to expand Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment brand into the sports arena."
With an initial plan to reach tween boys, GME hopes to bring a new audience to the NHL, while engaging the existing,
established hockey fan base through a compelling tale of good vs. evil.
"The NHL not only brings enormous brand equity to the partnership, but also their built-in audience of more than 70 million
fans worldwide and their marketing and distribution channels," said Mark Terry, Chief Operating Officer of Guardian
Media Entertainment.
"To have the machine of the NHL, Stan Lee as an equity partner and the combined vision of all is the ultimate power play,"
added Adam Baratta, GME Chief Creative Officer.
The most cutting-edge, motion-capture technology will be used to bring the project to life by Vicon House of Moves (IRONMAN 2).
A special teaser package will be unveiled during the Oct. 8, 2010 panel presentation of The Guardian Project at New York's
Comic Con (4:45 to 5:45 p.m. in Room 1A08 of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center).
The near-term rollout plan for the Guardian Project will include an online presence, mobile applications, publishing, gaming,
in-arena, broadcast, merchandise, promotional and sponsorship activities.

POW! Entertainment and BOOM! Studios reveal three new Stan Lee series
July 21st, 2010 - 09:27:30 pm, by ComicList
Media Release -- During a press conference at Comic-Con International today, POW! Entertainment and BOOM! Studios revealed
he characters, series and creative teams for three superhero titles to be published by Stan Lee and BOOM! Studios this fall.

The three titles are:
SOLDIER ZERO, written by DOCTOR WHO and ACTION COMICS scribe Paul Cornell with art by SUPERMAN artist Javier Pina,
tells the story of a wheelchair-bound astronomy teacher who finds himself in a freak accident that bonds him with an alien
weapon of war.

THE TRAVELER, written by Eisner Award-nominee and BOOM! Studios Chief Creative Officer Mark Waid with art by AMAZING
SPIDER-MAN artist Chad Hardin, features a mysterious new superhero with time-traveling powers battling the Split-Second Men,
super-powered assassins from the future.

STARBORN, written by iZOMBIE's Chris Roberson with art by THE X-MEN's Khary Randolph, tells the story of a regular guy who
discovers he's the heir to an intergalactic empire, putting him the center of a war between five alien races.

At the press conference, Stan Lee revealed the character designs for all three characters and the covers for October's SOLDIER
ZERO by Trevor Hairsine and Dave Johnson.
SOLDIER ZERO #1 will also be shipping with a special cover signed by Stan Lee. Fans will need to contact their local comic book
shop for more information on how to acquire this limited edition item.
The revelation this past March of Stan Lee presenting this series of three superhero titles at BOOM! followed on the heels of a
viral marketing campaign announcing "Stan's Back" that hit the internet in late February. The L.A. Times' Hero Complex & L.A.
Times' Brand-X also got in on the action, running the "Stan's Back" campaign in print and on their respective website. All the
banner ads linked back to www.stansback.com, a site which had only the "Stan's Back" logo and nothing else disclosing
additional information.

For one week, the internet was in a frenzy, with comic fans everywhere trying to figure out what could the "Stan's Back" teaser
campaign mean. This culminated with the announcement that Stan Lee is back, this time at BOOM! Studios creating a line
of three superheroes.
Today's announcement of all three characters, series and creative teams ends the speculation that started with the
"Stan's Back" campaign.

Disney Buys Part of Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment Posted: January 2nd, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

As Disney was sealing its deal with Marvel Entertainment on Thursday, it was also expanding its ties with
POW! Entertainment, the company led by the man who once ran Marvel and co-created many of its
signature characters, Stan Lee.
Disney is acquiring a 10% stake of POW! for $2.5 million. It is also acquiring "enhanced rights" to the company's
creative side as well as exclusive consulting services. It was not clear what the rights and services entailed or
the reason for expanding its relationship with POW!
Disney signed a first-look arrangement with the company in 2007. Although no projects have come to fruition
on the feature side, several are in development, including lighthearted mystery tale "Nick Ratchett," action-adventure
project "Blaze" and one called "Tigress." POW! is also working on several projects for the home entertainment sector.
Disney may be hoping to tap in to Lee's creative side to create concepts and stories that will work across several
platforms, from gaming to the company's young male-skewing Disney XD channel. It may also hope to tap into his
knowledge of the Marvel Universe, though Lee hasn't been involved with Marvel's comic books since the early 1990s. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stan Lee, Walt Disney Studios launch "Time Jumper" July 25, 2008 | Now he's rapidly becoming one of Hollywood's most wanted.
Lee's comic book creations have been box-office gold this summer, with "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk" grossing
$313 million and $139 million, respectively.
So, the Walt Disney Co. used the forum of Comic-Con, the annual comic book convention in San Diego, to announce
that it was deepening its partnership with Stan Lee's POW Entertainment.
The home entertainment group will work with Lee on a new digital comic book, "Time Jumper." Readers can follow the
exploits of a new crew of superheroes, however they choose: online, via mobile phone or old-fashioned comic book format.
"Time Jumper" blends old-fashioned storytelling with technology that extends well beyond dialog
and thought bubbles. In its digital form, it'll include music, voices and fast-paced story-boards.
Now for the geeky narrative details: "Time Jumper" follows the exploits of our hero, Terry Dixon,
who is an agent of a secret government organization known as HUNT (short for Heroes United,
Noble and True). He has a cellphone called The Articulus that has the one feature you can't
get -- yet -- from Apple's iPhone: a time machine.
We wonder if it's possible to travel to a time where there are no dropped calls!

Virgin Comics And Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment To Partner By Annemarie Moody | Monday, April 21, 2008 at 12:00 am | AWN News
Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man and the Marvel Comics Universe of superhero characters,
announced he will be forming a new partnership with Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Comics.

Lee is one of the most influential figures in popular culture and the character entertainment industry, having created characters that
generate billions of dollars in sales from comics, films, animation, merchandise and games. In his new partnership with Virgin,
Lee will return to comic books as both a writer and editor, to oversee the creation of an entirely new universe of superhero characters.
"What a dream assignment!" enthused the always-ebullient Lee. "I can't wait to start pitting my newest, most exciting superheroes
against comicdom's most powerful, diabolical super villains and then have the fun of tossing them into far-out, thrill-a-minute
adventures to challenge the readers' imagination! And who better to share in the fun, creating wondrous new worlds without limit,
than the incredibly talented and dedicated guys at Virgin Comics!"
"Stan Lee is a cultural icon and we welcome him to his new home, Virgin Comics, for this bold new chapter in his great legacy,"
said Branson, Virgin Group president and founder.
The new universe will initially be anchored around the exploits of a team of ten superheroes of various backgrounds and origins.
As this team evolves, readers will learn that not all of these heroes are what they seem, as infighting, abuses of power and internal
struggles will slowly challenge these heroes as they learn the real villains may lurk within themselves.
"As a creator, storyteller and visionary, Stan Lee has created characters that have inspired the imaginations of generations of
audiences around the world and spoke to the core of humanity, transcending race, religion and culture," said Virgin Comics'
CEO, Sharad Devarajan. "It is our greatest joy to bring him back to the industry he helped define, and though Stan's creations
have already changed the face of entertainment, we are confident that the best is yet to come."
As a former Editor-in-Chief at Marvel Comics, Lee trained some of the industry's most influential creative talents under a system
called the "Marvel Method." Though not commonly used in the industry today, Lee's process enables the writer and artist to sculpt
the story together from the ground up in iterative stages, rather than writers just delivering a full script to an artist in more of a
segmented fashion. As editor of this new superhero universe at Virgin, Lee intends to once again work with artists in a similar
fashion, allowing a new generation of artists from the comic book and video game industries an opportunity to learn and collaborate with Lee.
Gill Champion POW!'s President and COO said "The arrangement with Virgin strengthens our position as a leader in creating
new high concept superheroes for today's fans. Comic books and other means of new media distribution are a great way to
introduce our properties. In Virgin, we have found a partner who understands the importance of Stan's global brand."
The new universe will be unveiled in early 2009 and will initially be launched as a series of ten graphic novels linked into a
series of online animated shorts. The story is intended to provide a seamless online and offline experience allowing audiences
numerous entry points and engagement synergies as they immerse themselves into this universe of heroes.

Stan Lee sets three with Disney
Apr. 3, 2008 11:48 AM
The Hollywood Reporter
Comic book legend Stan Lee has set up three projects at Disney, which houses his production shingle POW! Entertainment. The projects have attracted Oscar nominee Richard LaGravenese, scribe Gary Goldman and Robert Teitel and George Tillman Jr. of State Street Pictures.

The projects are based on stories and ideas from Lee, who will executive produce with his POW! partner Gill Champion.
Lee and Champion said the projects are intended to be films with franchise potential, with the first installments intended to serve as an origin story that lays out the mythology of the plot and characters.
"I only hope Disney will have room at the theme park once they become the tentpole franchises that we envision them to be," Lee joked.
LaGravenese is attached to write and direct "Nick Ratchet," revolving around the exploits of a private eye.
LaGravenese last wrote and directed "P.S. I Love You." He was nominated for an Oscar for writing "The Fisher King."
The action-adventure project "Blaze" is being written by Goldman ("Next").
"Tigress" ( working title ) follows a woman who starts getting tiger-like instincts. It's being written by relative newcomer Zoe Green.
Green, a Cambridge undergrad who attended UCLA's directing program, wrote for BBC's "Wolverine & the X-Men" cartoon series.
Lee's POW! entered a multiyear first-look deal with Disney in June.

The Walt Disney Studios has announced that it has entered into an exclusive multi-year "first look" deal with Stan Lee and his production company POW! Entertainment. The creator of Spider-Man and many other popular comic book superheroes will develop and produce all forms of entertainment. Under the terms of the agreement, Disney gets the first shot at films, TV shows, books and video games.
"As the father of such renowned comic book heroes as Spider-Man, The Hulk, X-Men among others, Stan is considered one of the most creative and inventive forces in the industry today. His innate talent of tapping into the human qualities of his super hero characters has certainly struck a chord with generations of audiences and readers around the world," said Dick Cook, chairman, The Walt Disney Studios. "We are honored to be working with someone as formidable as Stan and his production company and welcome them to the Disney family."
Lee seemed to be equally excited about the deal, given the pedigree and recognition the Disney name comes with. "It's like the realization of a dream. Ever since I was a young boy, Disney represented the best and most exciting film fare to me. And now, many decades later, with movies such as their incredible Pirates of the Caribbean spectaculars, Disney is still at the forefront of family entertainment, excelling in live action, animation, TV, theme parks-whatever it takes to bring fun and fantasy to audiences everywhere. I look forward with indescribable enthusiasm to being a part of that world and contributing whatever I can to keep the legend alive and growing," said Lee.
According to Cook, as reported by the AP, the deal was designed to create characters and projects that can become franchises for Disney. And after all these years, if you think the 84-year-old Lee will have difficulty coming up with new ideas and characters, think again.
"I've got millions of them," Lee told the AP. "I have file cabinets filled with ideas for movies and television shows and all sorts of things, and I've been waiting to be associated with someone like Disney so I can start tearing into these things."
Of course, there are certain characters that Lee developed at Pow! Entertainment, such as the superhero stripper "Stripperella," featuring the voice of Pamela Anderson as "Erotica Jones" that won't be appropriate for the Disney audience. That said, Lee isn't concerned at all about the "family image" of Disney tarnishing his reputation or his work. "There is such a big difference between action and violence," Lee said. "I have never been a fan of violence, but I love action and so does Disney."
Bob Chapek, president, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, was apparently "instrumental" in bringing this deal to Disney. He will work closely with Lee on many of his projects.
"Stan is not only loved by fans of the genre, but is one of the most respected and admired figures in the entertainment industry. In fact, it's hard to think of another individual who has created as many memorable and appealing characters. We're thrilled that Stan has decided to make Disney his new home, and feel very fortunate to be collaborating with him on a wide range of new projects for all divisions of our company. His track record is impressive by any measure, and Home Entertainment is sure to benefit from his creations," said Chapek.

Stan Lee to launch new superhero franchise "Legion of 5"

LAS VEGAS -- Comic book legend Stan Lee and his production shingle POW! Entertainment, along with Brighton Partners, have partnered with Rainmaker Entertainment to launch "Legion of 5," a new superhero property.
"Legion of 5" -- owned jointly by Rainmaker, POW! and Brighton -- is planned as a series of CG-animated films but with a cross-platform approach to include games, online and mobile releases. Merchandizing is part of the plan as well.
Details of the characters and story line are being kept under wraps.
Rainmaker CEO Warren Franklin reported that the partners are raising about $24 million to get things going. "We are hoping to develop a strong franchise with the characters," he said.
Plans call for Vancouver-based computer-animation producer Rainmaker to create the look of the characters as well as develop and produce the feature-length CG-animated film properties.
Lee, Rainmaker's Aaron L. Gilbert and Paul Gertz, Gill Champion of POW! and Cord Beatty of Brighton will exec produce.
Recent film versions of Lee's "X-Men," "Spider-Man," "The Fantastic Four" and "The Hulk" titles have, in contrast to the "Legion" CG project, been live-action productions.
Separately, Lee has set up three projects at Disney, which houses POW!: "Nick Ratchet," following the exploits of a private eye; "Blaze," an action adventure; and "Tigress" (working title), the story of a woman who starts getting tiger-like instincts.
Rainmaker Animation is developing "ReBoot," one of the earliest computer-animated episodic TV series, as a trilogy of feature-length films. Brighton Partners is a Salt Lake City-based finance and project development group.
The "Legion of 5" partners will convene at a weekend comic convention, where Lee will receive the inaugural "New York Comics Legend Award."

World famous comic book icon Stan Lee, who is known as the creator of SPIDERMAN and THE INCREDIBLE HULK, will join in a Japanese animation production project. According to the article of BONES's 10th anniversary on anime magazine Newtype (Kadokawa Shoten) released on April 10, the new animation named "HEROMAN (working title)" is now under development. Moreover, the project is also introduced on the official webpage of Pow! Entertainment, Stan Lee's private management company, listed in the title list as a joint production project of Pow!, BONES, and Wowmax Media!.
In the article, the story is about an American boy who lives in the West coast and gains a toy that turns into a huge robot. The original story is by Stan Lee, Character design Shigeto Koyama, Chief animator Toshihiro Kawamoto, and Director Hitoshi Nanba. This joint project between the most renowned creator in the US comic books industry and the Japanese popular animation studio will be big news in Japan
The producer team revealed this time is also interesting and consists of the parties: BONES, Pow! Entertainment, and Wowmax Media!, a Los Angeles based producing company for audio visual and animation between Japan and the US. There is no name of Japanese major television station, advertiser, major studio in Hollywood, or media conglomerate. It is seemingly a new type of joint production that the both creators from Japan and US lead.
On the other hand, Pow! Entertainment signed a contract with Disney on April 1 that all rights of motion pictures, television programs, and game software that Pow! Entertainment plans and develops will be exclusively entitled to Disney. Probably, HEROMAN will be also distributed on the Disney's distribution line.
Stan Lee, also, provided an original idea to a manga named "ULTIMO," written by Japanese manga artist Hiroyuki Takei, on Jump SQII which will be released on April 18.
Hiroyuki Takei is popular in the US, known as a creator of SHARMAN KING. Even though Stan Lee has had so many collaborations with others, there are lots of projects with Japanese parties because the progressive spirit of Stan Lee, who is 84 years old this year, is still active.
The collaboration between the Japanese entertainment and Stan Lee, the mountain top of the US's subculture, it makes to feel that the relationship between Japan and the US subcultures is heading into a new. The two subcultures had belonged to different worlds before, but now those finally started getting merged. The actual shape of the new wave of the anime, manga, and comic culture, and the style of joint production is barely visible, however HEROMAN will a very important piece in many ways.

- Definition Includes currency on hand as well as demand deposits with banks or financial institutions. It also includes other kinds of accounts that have the general characteristics of demand deposits in that the Entity may deposit additional funds at any time and also effectively may withdraw funds at any time without prior notice or penalty. Cash equivalents, excluding items classified as marketable securities, include short-term, highly liquid investments that are both readily convertible to known amounts of cash, and so near their maturity that they present minimal risk of changes in value because of changes in interest rates. Generally, only investments with original maturities of three months or less qualify under that definition. Original maturity means original maturity to the entity holding the investment. For example, both a three-month US Treasury bill and a three-year Treasury note purchased three months from maturity qualify as cash equivalents. However, a Treasury note purchased three years ago does not become a cash equivalent when its remaining maturity is three months. Compensating balance arrangements that do not legally restrict the withdrawal or usage of cash amounts may be reported as Cash and Cash Equivalents, while legally restricted deposits held as compensating balances against borrowing arrangements, contracts entered into with others, or company statements of intention with regard to particular deposits are not generally reported as cash and cash equivalents. Includes cash and cash equivalents associated with the entity's continuing operations. Excludes cash and cash equivalents associated with the disposal group (and discontinued operation). + References + Details |

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Stan Lee, the former Marvel Comics mastermind, and the Walt Disney Company are looking to a time machine to take them to the future of comic books.
Together they're launching "Time Jumper," a franchise featuring a cell phone that makes it possible to go back in history, as a digital comic book that will play out on multiple platforms. Lee's POW! Entertainment will also see an extension to the first-look deal it signed with Disney in June 2007, covering all media.
"I am honored to be in association with Disney, not only through the extension of our original deal, but also in breaking ground by creating a new superhero," said Lee, who on Friday will tout "Jumper" at Comic-Con, the annual comics-related event in San Diego.
The franchise will be brought to life through collaboration by several Disney divisions, including home entertainment, online and publishing.
"Jumper" is the latest high-profile example of the trend in digital comics, which activate the traditionally static panel-based art with moving graphics. Warner Bros. recently released "Mad Love," an online companion to the film "The Dark Knight"; in August, MTV Networks will unveil "Invincible," an adaptation of the Image Comics title.

About Time Jumper
Terry Dixon, the greatest agent of the secret government organization known as
HUNT (Heroes United, Noble and True), has a cell phone like no other. Invented
by Terry's father, it's called The Articulus and it has all the latest and
greatest cell phone features--plus one: It's also a time machine!
Ever mindful of the dangers of Articulus falling into the wrong hands, Terry's
father ensured that it can be operated by only two people on earth--Terry and
his brother Sam. But Sam, the original Time Jumper, has been lost in time,
forcing Terry, an unlikely hero, to step into his shoes. As Terry's search for
his brother propels him through space and time, he is pursued by Charity Vyle,
the beautiful, diabolical head of a worldwide criminal cartel called CULT
(Council of Unlawful, Loathsome Terrorists), who wants Articulus for her own
nefarious schemes. Each episode, Terry tries to stay one step ahead of his sworn
enemy, while tracking down new clues to Sam's whereabouts.

Who Wants to be a superhero for Kids
6:41pm Thursday 15th January 2009
DR Dolittle can make way - there's a girl from Bridgwater who can talk to the animals too, and she's on TV to prove it.
Charlie Dare might seem like an ordinary 13-year-old girl, but once a week she transforms into an animal-loving superhero for a BBC children's series.
The show, called Who Wants To Be A Superhero?, sees 13 youngsters compete to see their creation turned into a comic by legendary Spiderman creator Stan Lee. Animal lover Charlie won the right to compete for the prize after wowing audition judges with her creation Princess Paw, who can talk to all manner of wild creatures.
Those superpowers are regularly tested on the show by dastardly arch-villain Dr Dark, who sets her fiendish traps such as freeing a snake in a pet shop.
The show is already causing quite a stir among Charlie's friends and teachers at Robert Blake Science College.
She said: "All my friends have been watching the show and talking about it, and my family are really proud of me.
"I was really excited when I realised I was going to be on TV and it's amazing seeing myself on the screen.
"It's given me a lot more confidence. I was a bit hesitant to do things before but this has inspired me to do more."
Who Wants To Be A Superhero? was filmed in Hackney, London, over four weeks last summer, and is being screened on BBC 2 at 9am every Saturday for the next 15 weeks.

Ultimo Chapter 1 for USA and Japan
8Feb2009
Author: andysislands
In the March issue of Jump SQ, Karakuri Douji Ultimo (or simply Ultimo), the manga series created by Hiroyuki Takei and Stan Lee officially started. The first chapter was 60 pages long and included three full color pages. Ultimo was also on the cover of the issue of JumpSQ. The first chapter is titled "The Foggy Mountain Pass of the Old Westerner."
On Sunday Feb 8th, 2009, a convention was being held in New York City, called Comic Con. One of the panelists at this convention was Viz Media, whose first point was to inform the public that Ultimo chapter 1 is currently being planned for a release in the July issue of Shonen Jump USA in English. This is only 5 months after the release from Japan. They did not state if they will only have one chapter a month, or multiply chapters in an attempt to catch up to the Japanese release.
Also during Comic Con, they mentioned that during the next "Free Comic Book Day," May 2nd, 2009, they will also be giving out free copies of Ultimo:0. The book will be 32 pages long, and free to anyone at their local bookstores in the USA, while supplies last. Natasha Henstridge as Charity Vyle in Time Jumper
I am doing a really interesting series of really small, five-minute episodes of a Stan Lee cartoon, in which Stan Lee and myself will be voicing the two characters. My character is called Charity Vyle. And it's a super cool character. It's a show called Time Jumper. We're going to do about 10 episodes. I'm not exactly sure of the format; I think it's coming out through the phone. I'm with an absolute legend, and I'm really excited about that. My character is actually brilliant as well, as these cartoon characters - I mean, as these comic book characters often are. She knows how to jump through time, and she does that for some very selfish reasons. http://io9.com/5286188/natasha-henstridge-loves-you-back

New Ultimo Spin-off manga, "Ultimo Urate"
20Jun2009
Author: andysislands
In the July issue of Jump SQ II, a special Ultimo chapter was released. However, this was not a normal chapter, but a spin-off of the Ultimo series. Officially the series is called "Ultimo Ulate" (????ULTIMO ULATE). However, this is most likely a misspelling of the word "urate," which gives the series title more meaning."Ultimo Urate" can mean "back door" or translate to "Behind Ultimo." "Urate" also means "ugly" in Romanian. This story is not drawn by Hiroyuki Takei like the rest of the Ultimo series. Instead this is drawn by someone with the pen name of "JK." This spin off story shows many of the Ultimo cast as children in the 5th grade. The chapter is only 23 pages long.
The regular series of Ultimo continues in Jump SQ each month. A new chapter of Ultimo will be released on July 4th in Japan, and will contain another color page. Ultimo volume 1 will be released on July 3rd in Japan, and will be featured on the Japanese TV show "Jump Bang!" the same day.

Tamon Ota's manga to launch in Square Enix's Shonen Gangan mag in August
The August issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine has announced on Saturday that Tamon Ota will launch a manga series tied to the proposed Heroman anime from American comic pioneer Stan Lee and the BONES anime studio. The Spider-Man and X-Men co-creator is planning this new animated series for television with the studio behind Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater. The manga version will start with a full-color opening page in the next Monthly Shonen Gangan issue on August 12.
According to the May 2008 issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype magazine, the story of Heroman will center on a boy named Joey who discovers a toy robot near the west coast of the United States. The toy becomes Heroman, a giant robot that Joey pilots against evil threats. BONES screened a promotional movie for Heroman (as well as for Soul Eater, Bonen no Xamdou, and Shinjuku Satomi Hakkenden) at Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008.
Pow! Entertainment, Lee's current production company, is already producing a manga series called Ultimo with manga creator Hiroyuki Takei (Shaman King), Shueisha's Jump Square magazine, Viz Media's Shonen Jump magazine, and the Sony Music Entertainment subsidiary Dream Ranch. Last year, Lee was also developing an animated television series named Quartz with GDH, which was the corporate parent of the Gonzo anime studio.

To prevent the Articulus from falling into the wrong hands, Arthur coded it to work only with his DNA. After a laboratory experiment claims Arthur's life, Terry and his older brother Sam become the only people capable of using it. Recruited into the secret crime fighting organization H.U.N.T. (Heroes United, Noble and True) after the mysterious disappearance of golden boy Sam, Terry becomes a reluctant hero living in his brother's shadow. As he struggles to fill his new role, unnatural shifts in the course of history send Terry hurtling through time to capture Charity Vyle, the diabolical leader of criminal cartel C.U.L.T. Kansas City, Mo., and Los Angeles (PRWEB) July 24, 2009 - There's a sexy new comic book heroine set to reveal herself exclusively to iPhone and iPod Touch users, and this scantily clad adventurer, with a popular, familiar name, is bringing her exploits to life in this direct-to-iPhone release.
Stripperella on iPhone
Some people think Stripperella is merely a far-out fantasy featuring a torrid, whistle-bait pin-up
But thoughtful readers look beneath Stripperella's frivolous façade and recognize a scholarly, psychological analysis of today's complex male/female relationships with cogent commentary within the sophisticated subtext. Congratulations to Universal Uclick and POW! for Stripperella, the perfect cerebral companion for the thinking man.
Stripperella is an eye-catching super heroine, and comic fans will appreciate that Stan Lee, master comics craftsman that he is, has injected this series with a madcap spirit that makes it a thoroughly entertaining read
This mature-audiences series - available exclusively in the App Store - is uncommonly, unabashedly, undeniably fun. It's exactly the kind of all-out entertainment fans have come to expect from the most well-known innovator in comics.

Legendary comic book creator Stan Lee, partnered with Universal Uclick, America's No. 1 distributor of comics online and on mobile, has announced an all-new version of one of his most sizzling creations, Stripperella. The sultry super-heroine stars in an original four-volume comic book series written by Lee with art by Anthony Winn available only on the App Store.
Exotica Jones, the new incarnation of the motorcycle-riding exotic dancer who fights crime as Stripperella, makes her eye-popping debut in this all-new made-for-mobile comic book series debuting exclusively on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
"Some people think Stripperella is merely a far-out fantasy featuring a torrid, whistle-bait pin-up," said Lee. "But thoughtful readers look beneath Stripperella's frivolous façade and recognize a scholarly, psychological analysis of today's complex male/female relationships with cogent commentary within the sophisticated subtext. Congratulations to Universal Uclick and POW! for Stripperella, the perfect cerebral companion for the thinking man."
"Stripperella is an eye-catching super heroine, and comic fans will appreciate that Stan Lee, master comics craftsman that he is, has injected this series with a madcap spirit that makes it a thoroughly entertaining read," said Universal Uclick President and Editor Lee Salem. "This mature-audiences series - available exclusively in the App Store - is uncommonly, unabashedly, undeniably fun. It's exactly the kind of all-out entertainment fans have come to expect from the most well-known innovator in comics."
Longtime fans of the cheeky heroine will note that POW! Entertainment has updated the character's original design from the adult-oriented cartoon series that marked Stripperella's worldwide cable television debut in 2003. But while she sports a new look, iPhone and iPod Touch users can rest assured that the famous curves, tongue-in-cheek humor and "bombshell" status that made Stripperella stand out from the pack remain perfectly intact.
"We started by repurposing print comics for the iPhone. It has always been our intention to bring original content, created exclusively for mobile consumption, to the marketplace," said Salem.

Key drawings for 12th installment animated by Studio Wanpack last month
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The anime subcontractor Studio Wanpack reports that it produced the key drawings for the 12th installment of the Heroman anime from American comic pioneer Stan Lee and the BONES anime studio last month. Wanpack's report is the first indication that the long-gestating project is in actual production. Lee, the co-creator of the Spider-Man and X-Men comics, has been planning this new animated series for television with the same BONES studio behind Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Building on an already successful three year creative and business relationship, POW! (Purveyors of Wonder) Entertainment Inc. "Enhancing our relationship with one of the world's most creative and innovative entertainment companies makes perfect sense given all the exciting projects we have underway," said Lee, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of POW! "Disney has been a great partner for us and we look forward to working closely with them in the coming years. With girl and money troubles, life is hard enough for high school student Yamato, but then he stumbles upon Ultimo, a peculiar-looking puppet. Things only get stranger when Ultimo awakens and his archenemy, Vice shows up. Ultimo and Vice are Karakuri Dôji, the mechanical embodiment of pure good and pure evil, devoid of human emotions that can cloud one's judgment. Their purpose: to battle to the death to prove once and for all whether good or evil is the most powerful force in the universe.
For over half a century, Stan Lee has been synonymous with superhero comics. In addition to creating countless memorable series and characters, including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and Daredevil, he served as the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. Lee remains a hugely respected and dynamic figure in the entertainment industry and continues to develop a variety of film, television and video game properties.
"I am indescribably thrilled to have the honor of working with the famous and extremely talented Hiroyuki Takei on our exciting creation ULTIMO. I feel that ULTIMO combines the very best of Western mythology with the very best of Japanese manga. " says Stan Lee. "It gives me the greatest pleasure to be associated with VIZ Media on such and exciting and ground-breaking project."
Unconventional author/artist, Hiroyuki Takei began his career by winning the 1994 Tezuka Award. After working as an assistant to famed artist Nobuhiro Watsuki (RUROUNI KENSHIN), Takei debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997 with Butsu Zone, an action series based on Buddhist mythology. His multicultural adventure manga SHAMAN KING debuted in Japan in 1998 and has been adapted into a popular animated television series. The SHAMAN KING manga series is also published in North America by VIZ Media; for many years it was serialized in English in SHONEN JUMP magazine.
"While it's epic in scope and rich in mythology, the ULTIMO storyline is grounded in modern teen angst which is what fans will gravitate to. It's manga, but it's got that 'Stan Lee' feel of the teenager who suddenly has all this power and can't believe how crazy that is." Says Joel Enos, Senior Editor for Shonen Jump Manga, VIZ Media. "This story has found a common ground between Western comics and Eastern manga. Here you have two amazing creators, all this action, robots, and the universal theme of pure good vs. pure evil, all the while staying in high school youth culture and the drama and depth of everyday kids."

POW! ENTERTAINMENT
& BOOM! STUDIOS
ANNOUNCE A NEW SUPERHERO LINE
FROM STAN LEE!

March 2nd, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - POW! Entertainment and BOOM! Studios announced a deal has been struck that will see the production of a series of three superhero titles presented by Stan Lee. These series will premiere from BOOM! Studios later this year.
BOOM!'s Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid, creator of BOOM!'s runaway hit series IRREDEEMABLE and its smash sister book INCORRUPTIBLE, will be writing one of the series. Two other series will follow, featuring A-list writers as a part of the creative team. Further announcements will clarify the teams and the timing for the roll-out.
This past December, POW! announced that Walt Disney Studios had entered into a first-look deal with POW! and currently has a number of projects in development where it is working closely with the world-renowned Lee.
The revelation of Stan Lee's presenting a series of three superhero titles at BOOM! follows on the heels of a viral marketing campaign announcing "Stan's Back" that hit the internet early last week. Across major comic book news sites and blogs last week, ads appeared teasing "Stan's Back." The L.A. Times' Hero Complex & L.A. Times' Brand-X also got in on the action, running the "Stan's Back" campaign in print and on their respective website. All the banner ads linked back to www.stansback.com, a site which had only the "Stan's Back" logo and nothing else disclosing additional information.
For one week, the internet was in a frenzy with comic fans everywhere trying to figure out what could the "Stan's Back" teaser campaign mean. Today it has finally been revealed - Stan Lee is back, presenting a comic book series for the Direct Market comic specialty market that Lee was instrumental in fostering.
POW! Entertainment and BOOM! Studios had no further details at this time. More forthcoming.

History is teaming with comic book icon Stan Lee for a series that finds real-life X-Men.
As part of a slate of new shows, the "X-Men" creator will co-host "Stan Lee's Superhumans," which will find people who have remarkable abilities because of being genetically different. Daniel Browning Smith, dubbed the world's most flexible man, will host the series with Lee.
"Superhumans" will debut on the network during the third quarter and is joined by five other series and a slew of specials being greenlighted in time for the network's upfront presentation to advertisers this week.
History's previously announced miniseries "The Kennedys" and its U.S. version of "Top Gear" are expected to be the headliners of the network's presentation, but the network also has a trio of new reality shows from prolific "Ice Road Truckers" producer Thom Beers.
The first, "Around the World in 80 Ways," could serve as a "Top Gear" companion. Three hosts will race around the world using common and exotic methods of transportation. Ten episodes have been ordered for second-quarter 2011. In another Beers production, History has ordered the docudrama "Swamp People," which revolves around a group of Cajuns living in Louisiana during alligator-hunting season. Ten episodes have been ordered for the third quarter. In "Vigilante Inspector," a duo inspect decaying infrastructures on such things as bridges, levees and highways. Ten episodes have been ordered for the fourth quarter.
Two other shows in the mix marry reality with History's traditional namesake brand. In "Brad Meltzer's Decoded," Go-Go Luckey and BermanBraun center on author Meltzer decoding familiar symbols. Ten episodes have been ordered for the fourth quarter. In "Chasing Mummies," cameras follow archeologist Zahi Hawass, who manages 250 digs throughout Egypt. Ten episodes from the Greif Co. have been ordered for the third quarter.
The network also ordered several specials, including the ambitiously titled "History of the World in Two Hours," a CGI-driven special from Flight 33 Prods. There's also "Voices From Inside the Towers," from Darlow Smithson Prods., which details phone calls made from inside the World Trade Center during the 9/11 attacks. There also are a trio of presidential specials: "Jefferson," "President's Book of Secrets" and "Reagan."
For the past three years, History has managed to increase its viewing audience while lowering its median age and recently wrapped a record year.

The movie will begin shooting in June, tracking its subjects to this year's Comic-Con, which runs July 21-25 in San Diego.
Spurlock, who was nominated for an Oscar for his "Super Size Me" documentary, is directing, while Tull produces with Spurlock's producing partner Jeremy Chilnick. Tull is producing outside of his usual duties as chairman of Legendary Pictures, the company that co-produced and co-financed films such as "Superman Returns," "The Dark Knight" and "Clash of the Titans."
Said Knowles: "I've been going to Comic-Con since 1974 and have been amazed that nobody has mounted a serious attempt at documenting what it is that happens there."
Spurlock, who last year partnered with Dark Horse Comics to make an original graphic novel that ties into his "Super Size" movie, said he grew up with comics and felt at home when he first made his trek to San Diego. "It was such an overwhelming experience for me, and I soon found out that I was not alone. So for me to get to share the experience of Comic-Con with fans all over the world will be an incredible opportunity," he said in a statement.
Said Tull: "We look forward to capturing the spirit, energy and people that Comic-Con has infused into legions of fans, bringing these audiences and projects out of the Halls and onto a world stage."
The 2000s have seen the sci-fi and comic convention more than double its size in terms of audience attendance, with passes and hotel rooms selling out months in advance. And as movie studios have shifted to making an increasing amount of genre and comic book-based movies, Comic-Con has seen its influence on pop culture grow.
The documentary joins a list of a number of film-related developments for Comic-Con. The convention is front and center in "Paul," a comedy starring Simon Pegg and Seth Rogen that follows two geeks who are on their way to Comic-Con when they meet an alien. In development is "Comic Con," a heist movie set during the convention, written by Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan, the duo who wrote MRC's new comedy "30 Minutes or Less

Todd McFarlane has been confirmed as a collaborator on Stan Lee's comic about Japanese rock star Yoshiki Hayashi.
Former Marvel president Lee has been working on the project with the musician for some time. It will debut with a zero issue at this year's San Diego Comic Con, reports Bleeding Cool.
In a video interview, the Spider-Man co-creator said that he expects the project to bring Yoshiki recognition in the US.
"It's about this Japanese rock star named Yoshiki, and Todd and I are going to make him so famous in the States. Almost as famous as he is in Japan," he said.
McFarlane, acclaimed artist and Image Comics co-founder, added: "He's giant, and he's a big fan of American comic books.
"He came over here and wanted to rub shoulders with us. We'll put him right in the middle, we'll just give him the sandwich here, and hopefully the product will be good and it means [we] get to have more conversations and hang out with Stan more than [we] normally would."
Lee has previously appeared in Yoshiki's music video and helped the singer organize charitable events. The pair also attended this year's Golden Globes together http://www.digitalspy.com/comics/news/a323668/todd-mcfarlane-joins-stan-lee-project.html

Guardian Media Entertainment Forges Multi-Year Partnership With NBCUniversal to Market and Promote The Guardian Project Superhero Franchise
7 minutes ago - PR Newswire via Comtex
PR NewswireGuardian Media Entertainment, LLC (GME) - a company formed by SLG Entertainment (SLGE), LLC, led by Stan Lee of POW! Entertainment, LLC and NHL Enterprises (NHLE), LP - today announced its unprecedented equity partnership with NBCUniversal (NBCU). NBCU's equity resulted from an in-kind partnership where it will provide cross-platform media support of ongoing content and product launches for The Guardian Project, which is a Stan Lee superhero franchise that includes 30 superheroes representing each NHL® Club. This robust media inventory, which supplements marketing and promotion from the NHL and its member clubs, will provide a multi-million dollar commitment for The Guardian Project.
The Guardian Project has been developed for transmedia storytelling and GME will continually roll out plotlines for all 30 original superheroes across multiple platforms over a number of years. In the near-term, GME intends to launch a publishing initiative consisting of comic books and a novel in addition to the expansion of Guardian Project branded merchandise currently available for sale at retail, online and in-arena. The Guardian Project brand will be extended through social and mobile gaming platforms in the first quarter of 2012. GME is also in early stages of discussions for development of a television series and long-term plans include the creation of films, games, theme park presence and global extensions.
Howard Baldwin, former part-owner of the two-time Stanley Cup® Champion Pittsburgh Penguins and the Hartford Whalers, producer of the Academy Award-winning motion picture "Ray" and Chairman of the Board of GME played a primary role in brokering the deal with Comcast-NBCU. "This groundbreaking transaction with NBCU represents a vote of confidence in our management team and our unprecedented business model that combines the branding power and extensive fan base of one of the largest sports leagues with new intellectual property," said Baldwin. "The promotion and marketing provided by NBCU in support of The Guardian Project will allow my colleagues Adam Baratta, Chief Creative Officer and Mark Terry, Chief Operating Officer, and me to forge new territory in development, production and worldwide distribution deals for television, film, gaming, sponsorship and other brand extensions."
"Since the inception of GME, our goal has been to partner with a major media company that has broadly distributed consumer platforms to exponentially increase the awareness and scope of The Guardian Project," states Mark Terry, Chief Operating Officer of GME. "With NBCUniversal as our partner, our management team has the opportunity to hasten the development of our business, and our colleague, Aldo LaPietra, Co-Founder and EVP of Business Development, will be on the forefront of seeking out these opportunities."
It is the story that will expand The Guardian Project into a worldwide entertainment franchise. Stan Lee, his producing partner Gill Champion and POW! will oversee all creative direction and story development. "Partnering with NBCU is a welcomed addition to GME and provides unique opportunities that are unparalleled when combined with an original Stan Lee franchise," states Champion, CEO of POW!
"Just as we are excited to be partners with the NHL for the next 10 years, we are also excited to enter into this new venture with GME that engages young fans in new, unique ways through the magic of Stan Lee," said John Miller, Chief Marketing Officer, NBCUniversal Television Group.
The establishment of GME and The Guardian Project, by SLGE and NHLE, was announced last October at New York Comic-Con. In January of this year, a month-long social media campaign enabled fans to vote to determine the daily reveal of each Guardian. All 30 Guardians were unveiled in a theatrical style presentation during the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, which boasted the highest ratings ever for an NHL All-Star Game telecast on Versus. The debut of The Guardian Project produced more than 2 million visitors and over 13 million page views on guardianproject30.com and was number one on Google Trends immediately following the NHL All-Star Game broadcast.
"The Guardian Project is a great way for us to engage with casual fans and a broader audience," said Brian Jennings, NHL Executive Vice President of Marketing. "We're starting a conversation with the next generation of NHL fans and NBCUniversal's strength as a global media company, its commitment to hockey and its proven track record of leveraging sports and entertainment will elevate The Guardian Project within the NHL fan base and beyond," said Jennings.
As previously announced, NBCUniversal, the Comcast unit that runs the company's television networks, recently struck a groundbreaking 10-year deal with the NHL that runs through the 2020-2021 season. With the new terms, NBCUniversal channels will air more regular season and Stanley Cup Playoff games, and includes rights to online-video streaming of the games.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Stan Lee's POW! Entertainment and 1821 Comics Announce Two New Projects at New York Comic Con Aimed at a New Generation of Fans
LOS ANGELES, Oct 18, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- This past weekend at New York Comic Con 2011, comic legend Stan Lee, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of POW! Entertainment (otcqb:POWN), and POW!'s CEO Gill Champion unveiled two new projects with Paris Kasidokostas and Terry Dougas' 1821 Comics: Stan Lee's Kid Universe and Romeo and Juliet: The War.
As the name suggests, Stan Lee's Kid Universe will engage a whole new audience. Stan Lee explains: "Kids have a great sense of humor if you can reach them the right way...while we want these to be reasonably educational and good for kids, our main purpose is to be entertaining."
The series also marks a bold venture into the children's space, as Champion remarks: "With this series, POW! and 1821 will fill a void in the kid space, bringing the business full circle to a new generation of Stan Lee fans."
Stan Lee's Kid Universe, populated with characters like Reggie the Veggie Crocodile, will include several books; the first of which, entitled "Monsters vs. Kittens," will be released in 2012.
POW! and 1821 intend to reach another type of audience with the debut of their new futuristic coffee table/graphic novel retelling of Romeo and Juliet, entitled Romeo and Juliet: The War, which was also announced this weekend.
The book, which takes place about 200 years in the future, aims to make new fans from a reimagining of the timeless story, as Stan Lee adds: "This is the graphic novel I've always dreamed of doing. Lionsgate has picked up feature rights to an original superhero property from Stan Lee that Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will write, direct and produce through their Millar/Gough Ink shingle.
Details of the untitled project are being kept under wraps, but it's described as a multigenerational superhero movie that spans several decades.
Lee and Gil Champion will produce through their POW! Entertainment banner, which has a deal at Disney.
The comicbook vet approached Gough and Millar with the superhero concept after becoming a fan of "Smallville" and collaborating with the two scribes on "Spider-Man 2."
In addition to the "Spider-Man" sequel, Millar/Gough Ink's credits include the scripts for Disney's "Shanghai Noon," its sequel "Shanghai Nights" and DreamWorks' "I Am Number Four." For Disney, they are also producing "Zed," which Susannah Grant is scripting based on the final days of Texas high school theater teacher Lynn Shaw.
The duo also is in the midst of producing the Sylvester Stallone actioner "Bullet to the Head," based on the French graphic novel "Du Plomb Dans La Tete," that Warner Bros. will release next year.
For TV, Gough and Millar were showrunners on this season's "Charlie's Angels," for ABC, and oversaw the CW's "Smallville," which recently ended its 10-year run.
Lee, who created Marvel's Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men and the Incredible Hulk characters, recently also locked down Dan Gilroy ("Real Steel") to adapt his comicbook "The Annihilator" into a bigscreen actioner aimed at Asian markets.
