Speaking of Casino's, have you seen this?
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=8902
It's going good....well online free poker anyway. I still haven't entered a real money tourney at a Casino (mainly because there are none in this state), but hopefully will do so this summer. I have finished 1st in two 4000+ free online Texas Holdem Tourneys though. So you're back in school? What are you after?
Hey Mark, how's the poker playing coming? I have not been able to play many games of darts lately because of school. I did pick up the steel for about 30 minutes yesterday; still trying to work out that perfect stroke.
Trucker clock?
Wow. Thanks for the prayers, and thanks for the reminder of how far we have come. My son Creede, has yet to move his face, but he moves my heart everyday. God blessed me so when he gave me this son, and I would not give him up for any other baby that could be created. He teaches me each day that it's not image that matters.... but the soul.
Creede,
Blessings and my prayers are with you and your family.
Brent
Creede...how's it going?
Have you been playing much? I'm really getting into Texas Holdem Online Free Poker tourneys....and have been doing really good.
Anything new?
Thanks, and take care.
Invite them here to compare training notes if they want to.
no, but have some friends/co-workers that are.
Hey.... another dart player?
Huntsville, AL
Madison, AL? What's the closests big city? Good to hear you are doing well. My family is doing great, and we are very blessed.
No freakin way man! That is awesome!
You'll know when you're ready man...you'll feel it, and when that happens the stroke will be automatic and the folks in your surrounding will be invisible! I will definitely have to see you in action.
How's the fam? My girlfriend and I are getting settled into our new place in Madison, AL. We really like it here. The job is going great, just long hours. I couldn't ask for a more rewarding work career. I just have to get back into a routine where I can work, trade, and live!....lol
Good to hear from you Creede, I'll will hollar at you later,
Mark
Hey Mark. How's it going?
I hit a 180 tonight in game. This is after drilling holes in the concrete and anchoring my oche. You would have thought that I would have done that long ago. I finally got tired of it slidding back from me walking on it. Darts is a game of absolute precision, and the oche often moving 1 to 2 inches backwards is no good at all!
I updated the iBox. The World Series of Darts has been changed to the PDC US Open. It's somewhat the same, except the 1 mil prize is out the window, and it seems a little trickier to get in the door. I'm not going to go for it this year. Truth is, I'm just not ready. It took Phil Taylor 2 years before he turned pro, and I guess it would take me at least 3 then... seeings how I did not grow up playing the game as he did.
But the stoke is getting a little better one day at a time. I think it alot like golf in that one little hitch can totally throw off your shot. My shot is starting to feel more natural, and when I follow through well, it should be close to a spot on copy of you know who :)
Take care, and go catch some bad guys!

2007 PDC US Open
From Dave Allen, Media Director, PDC
Updated: March 17, 2007
THE £126,000 US Open will be staged at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut from 18-20 May 2007.
The tournament is open to both PDPA members and non-members resident in North America, giving the top US and Canadian-based stars the chance to take on Phil Taylor and World Champion Raymond van Barneveld.
North American players have two entry options; entering straight into the main draw for the tournament, or attempting to battle through the Friday Night Madness Qualifiers on 18 May.
PDPA members will be placed straight into the main draw, with the knockout event beginning on Saturday 19 May and culminating in the final on Sunday.
“The Las Vegas Desert Classic is established as a major tournament in the USA, but it is great to be able to offer such a big event on the East Coast,” said PDC Chairman Barry Hearn.
”The World Series of Darts in 2006 was a massive success and saw 2,000 Americans attempting to qualify, and we hope that a significant number of those will have the desire to rise to the challenge once more this May.
“Of course, we expect players like John Kuczynski, Ray Carver, Darin Young and Bill Davis to be there on Sunday competing for the main prize. They have all benefitted from competing on the PDC circuit and are the flag-bearers for all ambitious American darters.”

Nice night. Played 2 games, scores not too good, but got out first on a 58 (18, D20-Tops), then a 108 (T20, 16, D16!). First time to ever hit the 108 out.
SWEET.
That's totally awesome. I will you do me a favor and as soon as you get your gun, come down to the hood I am in right now, and offer me some protection? ~> http://www.investorshub.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=17906632
I am bro! 1 week left til graduation! I can't believe it...this has been a 6 year dream of mine.
As much as I want to, I don't think I am yet ready. My formal practice sessons dropped off during the winter, and I have just been going out and throwing for about 20 minutes at a time. It's still practice, but not as good.
But I'm not giving up. I know Phil Taylor practiced for 2 years before he became a professional. I definitely need another year.
Speaking of dedication, are you almost finished with the your training?
Holy crap!!!! That's awesome my friend!!! Are you still going for the tourney this year? Creede you are one of the most dedicated individuals I know.
Holler back when you have the chance sometime via PM.
Guess what..... FINALLY hit the 167 last night ( T19 T20 DBull ). Took me over 6 months!

Updated 2007 PDC Events Calendar
From Dave Allen, Media Director, PDC
December 18, 2006
THE PDC will include new tournaments in America, Germany and Holland on the 2007 Pro Tour.
Approaching £2.5 million will be on offer in 2007 on the PDC circuit, which will include a dedicated series of events in North America and Holland/Belgium.
Three tournaments will also be staged in Germany, including the €100,000 German Open in November.
The World Series of Darts will be succeeded by the PDC US Open in May, which will join the Las Vegas Desert Classic as a big-money tournament in the United States.
A Players Championship tournament will also be staged in Las Vegas ahead of the Desert Classic VI, with the planned calendar of events now announced.
A total of 28 Pro Tour events are included in this schedule, offering a minimum of £20,000 per tournament.
"This is a very exciting development for the sport of darts," said PDC Chief Executive Tim Darby.
"It is great that we are able to include long-standing supporters of the PDC such as Montreal, Windy City, Antwerp and Holland in our future, as well as new events in Las Vegas.
"The expansion of professional darts into Germany is a testimony to the great coverage of PDC tournaments on DSF in the past two years.
"The inclusion of the brand new £125,000 PDC US Open in Connecticut, to replace the World Series of Darts after ESPN's decision not to recommission the event, will further strengthen the sport in North America.
"This is the next phase of our global development and we remain committed to expanding the sport of professional darts around the world over the coming years as the PDC continues to lead the way."
Please note that some details, such as venues, are still to be confirmed and will be announced in due course.

World Series of Darts
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The World Series of Darts is a Professional Darts Corporation event new for 2006. It was held in the USA and saw the top 16 ranked Professional Darts Corporation players take on 16 American players [1], 12 of which will be winners from several tournaments and 4 from a 'Friday Night Madness' at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut. The PDC offered an aspirational prize of US$1,000,000 if an American player won the tournament. The prize for a non-US winner was US$100,000.
2006 showed a huge gulf in class between the PDC pros and the American challengers, with only one home-player out of the 16 that started the tournament, John Kuczynski, getting through to the last 16 after a 6-5 (legs) defeat of John Part. He defeated Wayne Mardle 6-3 before losing 9-6 to no 3 seed and eventual semi-finalist Ronnie Baxter.

[edit] TV Ratings
ESPN broadcast the first of eight one-hour segments on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 in prime-time at 7pm. ESPN’s cameras had followed the complete US qualifying process from beginning to end, concluding with the main event itself in Connecticut on May 20-21.
The show was scheduled in-between Sportscenter and World Series of Poker which usually score a Nielsen rating of around 1.0 (approx 1,102,139 households). WSoD premiered at approximately a 0.43 (approx 474,000 households / 559,000 adult viewers), then started sliding for episodes 2 and 3. ESPN then pulled the World Series of Darts programming from its original prime time slot on ESPN1, and relegated it to mid-afternoon broadcast positions on their lesser-viewed sister channel ESPN2.[17]
[edit] Event Cancelled
The relative lack of success with viewing figures led to ESPN's decision not to recommission the event for 2007. [18] Having originally scheduled the WSoD to be played May 18-20, the PDC decided to replace that date in the calendar with a new US Open tournament. So far there has been been no format announced, but using the title US Open allows the organisers to invite players from the rival organisation, the British Darts Organisation (BDO). The PDC currently hold a UK Open event each June.

Still working on Phil Taylor's perfect action. His arm looks the exact same every shot. Like a machine. I kinda get it sometimes.....and then it's gone. Guess it's hard to catch up with 30 years of practice all at once.
16 darter tonight. * PR
27% shots on out.
3 dart average 61.97 PR

Great night at the oche.
3 dart average scores in 501

11 darter = 136.64
10 darter = 150.3
9 darter = 167 <~~ Perfect game
Just threw my first 18 darter! That's a new PR. Zany way of doing it too. I had 90 left and 3 darts in hand. I went for the T20 to leave D15 for my out. I missed right on top of the wire into the 20. That left me needing 70, so after checking the out chart, I saw that it called for a T10, and tops. I'm not too used to attempting the T10, but I figured what the heck. I nailed it right in the middle. I did not even hesitate, and launched my last dart at the the D20. I hit tops on the far left side, and low......could not believe my eyes. Very sweet indeed.
I also had one ton per game (4 games) 3 of which were ton-40's. I also threw a 21 darter right before the 18 darter. Not a bad night at all.
Interesting night for scoring. My doubles were too horrible to mention, but I threw a 180 in the 12 darts I threw for warm up. I also threw two 140's with one to start the game (same game I could have had a 15 darter, but ended up with a 30 instead....yikes!!!!!).
Also of great mention. I threw my first 97 with 3 darts. That's bigtime, bigtime because it takes a ton of disciple to pull that off. I threw 2 darts in the 2o's. They were both high above the treble, and had me setup for a dropped dart if I tried the TON. It's very tough to resist trying anyway since there is a crease to make it happen. Most of the time, the results are not good. This time I went for the treble 19 instead, and hit it dead center. Lesson learned via payoff.
Horrible night for the singles, doubles, and triples practice, but a great night of 501.
First and foremost, I just threw my first 180 in game with my purists. Unreal. Can't wait to do that again!
Here's the run-down.
Tons - 4
Average # Darts per game - 27
3 dart average - 18.55
Out percentage - 24%
Low game - 22 (would have been a PR yesterday)
Much, much better. Not to mention that the game with the 180 started with 100, and could have been a 15 darter....and that's good even for Mr Taylor.
One brillant moment at the oche.
Last night I brought my PR down to 20. Funny thing is that I could have had a 19, but D12, and hit D9 instead! That left me with D3 for the win. I hit the basement with the first matchstick!
I played 4 games of 501 with 4 tons (none in the 1st game!), one of which was a 140.
At the end of the day, my driver was on, but the short game was off. As can be seen in the averages.
Average # of darts per game = 35.75
3 dart average = 11.9 (yuck!)
Out percentage = 9% (OUCH!)
Well. Surprising practice of late. I can "feel" the weight of the dart better now....whatever that means! lol
Played 2 games of 501 tonight. First one not so good. Second game....well....check it out.

So, back to back tons....first for me...ever! Also, could have went out on a possible 14!!! Didn't work out that way. Missed tops for a 19....but I'll take D10 for the 23 darter since that is a PR!
Man, getting from 24 to 23 only took 3 months!
Holy smoke. Almost 2 months now, and still working on the 167. Been through the ringer and back again. Had my chance on it several times today, and one time only missed the double bull, after hitting right above it in the single bull.....a bull never felt so low. Several other times had 2 out of the three....but not all three to be sure.
Can't help but think that when I get this out, it's going to mean I have vastly improved....but when?
I've hit the wall. I can't see one bit of improvement. Guess I just need to keep at it.
Great night of practice.
Somehow, on warm up, I put 4 darts in the double bull, with 2 in the single bull in 9 throws. I then went around the horn from 1 to 20.
Singles 27 throws. (74%) PR
Doubles 77 throws. (26%) PR
Triples 109 throws. (18%) PR
I'd say the single percentage needs to be at about 90%, and the doubles need to be at about 45%. As for the triples....who knows? Better than 18% that's for sure!
Discovery.
Follow Through ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>
Follow Through ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>
Follow Through ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>
That was the problem. For some reason, the more I concentrate, the more I seem to shorten my throw. Guess this is the same principle that basketball coaches preach. I made myself throw 100 times with complete follow-through, irregardless of where the dart may land....things got much better after that. I did not hit the 167...but I did hit 5 targets out of 6 near the end of practice.
T11 (hit)
T12 (hit)
T13 (miss 1/4 inch)
T14 (hit)
T15 (hit)
T16 (hit)
Best ever....no doubt.
Hit a major wall lately. Have not been able to hit that 167....making me nuts. One good point....did put two darts in the double bull tonight...just like Taylor did in the WSOD.
Watched the end of the WSOD tonight. Taylor dominated....no doubt. Went outside and hit a 180 myself, just to copy the master.
Alright. This is zany. I have been totally reworking my throwing motion. I really have not been trying too hard at the moment to hit the 167, but I do give it a few goes every day. Out of the clear blue, my wife wanted to play 1 game today. We played 501 and I really wasn't doing too hot. I was mostly scoring 26's and 41's (big surprise!). I thought the game was shot until I got to a three dart out of 116. The out consists of T20, 20, D18. I shot the T20 and hit the single. I then shot the T20 just to see if I could catch up, and voila'...right in the lipstick. All I needed next was the D18......it was no prolem....right in on first shot.
So, I hit a 116 on the first attempt after working on the 167 for a month....go figure!
Wow 167 is painstaking. I have oh so close so many times. I almost hit it on day one.....I am now on day 6! I wonder when it will happen.
Thank you Mark, but I was amazed by you first. You are an inspiration of persistence.
Guess what.....it happened. Last night I had a spiritual experience throwing darts. I knew that it would have to in order for me to throw a 170.
Basically I have been working on that 170 out (T20, T20, Double Bull) for three days. The way I do my out work is to throw the three darts in the order in which they should be thrown, no matter what. For example with 170, I throw at the T20, then the T20, then the double bull no matter what. Since I have 2 sets of the exact same darts then I have essentially 2 chances of hitting the out before making the walk to the board. I practice in this way because just throwing at the same spot on the board over and over makes me totally insane! It's tempting to change this up when I hit the T20 with the second dart. Why? Because then I want to go back to the T20 again in order to hit it again, before trying the double bull. I know it sounds crazy, but I intuitively know to follow the combination the same way every time....even if it means having to pass on the opportunity for the possible quicker exit. But why? I have asked myself the same question.....here's my answer.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV • Read this chapter
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
How does that fit? It fits because I believe the Lord lays out plans for the day before it begins. That's a revelation to me. I used to believe it was only in the big things....I was deceived. God works for the good in all things....even the darts I throw before I throw them. Thing is....I must have a plan, and stick to it....now that's apparent....finally.
And what happened last night? Well, the session began just like the previous ones ended.....feeling lost. Why? Because I was afraid and frustrated....I was trying too hard. The harder I tried to hit the T20, the further I got from the target. The further I was from the target, the more afraid I was that I was not going to get any better. I kept the pattern, but began to tinker with my stance, my grip, and my mind. The insanity was building, and the only thing keeping me afloat was that I was actually hitting the double bull more often than usual...which isn't very often!
What did I do? I stopped and pondered my attitude. I remembered a scripture that I had discussed with a new friend the night before... a scripture that was obviously set in my path, since I also saw it written on the back glass of a Chevy Blazer while on the way home from evening church (coincidence? not.)
1 Thessalonians 5:16-19
16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
19Do not put out the Spirit's fire;
That's it. I was putting out the Spirit's fire by believing that the darts were missing the mark....actually they were not missing the mark...I was. They went right where they were supposed to go. My sanity returned, and I thanked God for just letting me be able to throw a dart. I returned to the oche, and decided that every throw was a blessing no matter where they landed. I began to enjoy of the experience of just trying to smoothly launch the missile in the general direction of the board. Nirvana had returned. I was in that place where you find yourself, and lose yourself. The source of the talent and place where artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Micheal Jordan, Phil Taylor, and Gwen Stefani (couldn't help it! lol) tap into that magic that captivates our imagination. Now it was time.
I approached the face of the board, and pulled the six darts from it....I would only need three. I toed the oche. I let the first one go.....T20, left side of the lipstick. No emotional change....total peace. I let the second one go....T20, right side of the lipstick. Emotional damn tried to break....I resisted, and returned to baseline...."just another throw", I thought while reaching for the third dart. I let the third one go towards the new target of the double bull. For a time in eternity, I didn't even realize that it was finished. The dart was deep into the double bull just north of dead center......the emotional damn broke....it was pure ecstasy. "Not bad for a little game of darts."
I experienced the 170 out....not that the power originated in me, of course.
The next possible 3 dart out is 167. That's T19, T20, and double bull. This one is near and dear to my heart, because if the out is repeated 3 times, then it makes for a score of exactly 501....and what most consider a true perfect game in darts. I don't think it has ever been done before on live Tv....someday I believe it will be done.
slow down Phil!...lol
you keep amazing me with your dedication. It is one thing to set a goal to get a certain career as I did, but it is another to set a goal to become good at something. I am very proud of you Creede! Keep it up and I promise to make it to one of your tourneys one day!
Mark
Hey, just finished all the 2 dart outs! Now it's off to work on the 3 darters......170 is the first on the list.
T20, T20, Bull....here I come!
Yeah...I have one of those too. I play it with the kids and such.
Wanna hear something strange? I'm working through all the 2 dart outs right now. After I make the out, I mark it from the list (I am at 78 at the moment....down from 104). Anyway, sometimes I hit an out in minutes, and other times it takes days.....so, I am just fair at the moment. Today my daughter was calling shots for me to try to hit on the board. She asked me if I was ready for "a tough one". I said sure....she went to the board and told me to put the dart inside the "0" on the "10"! She wasn't talking about the wedge....she was talking about that wire that goes around the outside of the board....the literal numbers. I was shocked, but tried anyway.....took me about 10 darts....but I did it. She then said to hit the "8" on the "18"! I did it in about 5 darts. She then said to hit the bottom circle on the "8".....I put it in there in 2 darts!!!! Go look at the size of that target. It makes the bull look like a silver dollar. Anyway, just goes to show that I am much better than I know.....it's just a matter of tapping into the source.
Hope all is well with the new born. I stopped at my neighbor's and he has an electronic dart board. Most obnoxious thing I ever saw or HEARD. I said come down to my house and we'll play real darts. lol.
