Superior Oil and Gas Co. has undergone a top-to-bottom reorganization as it re-enters the oil and gas exploration and development business in Oklahoma and Kansas..
These are exciting times. With the advent of horizontal drilling, north central Oklahoma and Kansas wells are flowing oil and natural gas at rates not seen in years. Geologists predict blanket production across more than 20 contiguous Oklahoma and Kansas counties at moderate depths. Superior's new team is a world class professional and experienced team with regard to this type of directional drilling.
At the heart of this development is the Mississippi Limestone / Woodford Shale / Hunton Limestone horizontal play. Superior owns and controls, or has options on, tens of thousands of acres of oil and gas leases, as well as owning nine existing well bores in this play. The price of oil and gas leases in this play has leaped from $100 an acre to more than $4,000 an acre in some locations. The prices are climbing steadily as new wells are drilled and more acreage gets proven for horizontal drilling. The largest oil and gas producers that initiated this drilling play have purchased leases that completely surround our existing well bore leases. We consider our locations for drilling horizontal wells to be among the best locations in Oklahoma and Kansas.
The Oklahoma and Kansas horizontal Mississippian play should provide a high return on investment and a rapid return of capital. With regard to risk, Superior also has access to the subsurface records of earlier drilled vertical wells into the Mississippi formation that provide the necessary "well control" as a foundation for successful horizontal drilling by ensuring that "dry hole" or geological risk is virtually nil.
Recapitalization of the company is under way. Led by a new chief executive officer, Dan Lloyd, Jr., the son Superior's founder, together with a group of well seasoned officers, directors and consultants. Superior has participated in 5 Devon Energy Operated Horizontal Mississippi Lime wells in the second half of 2013.
Our Quest is to be among the dominant companies in our area of interest. We believe our current foundation in the Mississippi play together with our expansion cpabilities make this a reality going forward.

Mr. Merrill is a landman attorney with more than 32 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production. He aas a member of the management team at Andover Oil Company that drilled the first horizontal well in Oklahoma in 1985. The well was drilled in the Viola limestone formation in Jefferson County, Oklahoma. While this well was not successful for technical reasons, it led to the application of the horizontal concept to Mississippian limestones, pending advances in technology. With the success of horizontal shale wells, it became apparent that the technology had advanced sufficiently to re-consider it's application to traditional oil reservoir rocks. In 2006 Mr. Merrill teamed with John Helton to study the Mississippian shelf area for horizontal drilling opportunities. Mr. Merrill has continued to study and champion the possibilities of the horizontal Miss Resource play to current date. Ted Allen - Chief Petroleum Engineer
