When my stepson was a youngster, he wasn't the fussiest eater in the world, but he was certainly in the top 20. When he tasted something new, more likely than not, he would declare, "That's disgusting!" We explained that people have different tastes and that's OK but you can express that more gently. Thereafter, most things became, "That's not to my taste." So, the header is not to your taste LOL and that's OK. We do what we can to keep everyone happy while still attracting new users.
"A picture is worth a thousand words." Ibsen I think. The rise in more visual communication isn't a reversion to cave dwellers. It's an expansion of the means of expression. Mesopotamia, the birthplace of civilization, used pictographs and lasted 1,500 years, the Egyptians used pictographs and their glory days lasted about 3,000 years. The Chinese dynasties lasted about 2,000 years and used pictographs. All quite advanced civilizations. Styles come and go. Everything changes. It may not be to our taste, but that's OK.
Just the way the top line with Favorites... etc. is laid out. The little envelope instead of the word Mailbox. The microscopic profile pic that takes you to profile, settings... etc.
Favorites page: the junk to the right of the list of favorites.
Not a fan of the S&P... etc. bar either but I understand that this is a "financial" website.
For those of us who know how to read and write, it is highly frustrating to deal with little pictures instead of words.
It seems like we're heading back to the age of cave dweller drawings for communication.
Guess that's how you make the high-tech world available to the hoi polloi.
Thanks for letting me vent.
I guess I'm just old and in the way.
We geezerettes can be very cranky when slammed with the 21st Century "innovations" for the semi-literate.
Enough out of me. Good luck.
It looks like you're in portrait mode. If you tilt the device to landscape mode, you should see the regular menu. At least that's how it's working on my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. @IH Geek [Chuck] do you have better advice for him?
Never mind, it's the new look:
https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=172832759
My feedback.
I can get used to the larger font, it's easier to read and I don't mind scrolling.
I really REALLY want links to both Mailbox and Favorites to be always available in the header. One-click access is needed for both, IMO.
In the header, to the left of the Search Magnifier icon, I'd put the Mailbox unread-count envelope icon and the Favorites unread-count Star icon. It wouldn't take much space and would restore critical function, IMO.
The primary reason I was using the desktop view on my tablet was for the one-click ability to jump to those two pages.
Specifically what garbage?
The new look is fine, its classic view where post 295 appears to be messing things up. You cannot read messages below it.

Good freakin' grief. I know I'm in classic view but what's with the all the garbage cluttering up the screen?
Finally figured out how to get to my mailbox.
I give the new classic look a TEN...
Thumbs down.
I bet I'm not the only one greeting this with great disdain.
@IH Geek [Dave]
Thanks, I'll try that later. Hopefully in the meantime the real issue is found. I don't expect that will change anything because when I open an incognito tab it has the same issue.
It affects both Classic View and Full View. It affects everything.
Maybe try logging out, clearing you ADVFN cookies and then log back in?
I just checked with @IH Geek [Chuck] and nothing went in yesterday that would affect Classic view.
In Full View or Classic? Also please send me a link to the post so that I can see if I can replicate what you're seeing.
On the VRSSF forum, there's a video that's blocking the view of all other posts below it. I tried to delete it, but it's past the 48 hr period.
@IH Geek [Chuck] @IH Geek [Tom] Can you guys see if you can help here?
On my Galaxy Tab A I'm getting the mobile view even when I select Desktop View in Chrome. This is a change that happened since last evening. I very much prefer desktop view. It is the same in both Classic View and Full View. I hope it's temporary.
Thanks and Happy Friday 😊
Classic is working for me. What leads you to believe there are issues? What are you seeing? Or what seems to be wrong?
Classic appears to be broken now, so must use the new version
It's not going to be removed but all Users can choose Classic View.
Got it. Thanks, Shelly.
Carry on.
Too many people were missing them because they let PMs accumulate in their inbox. So we temporarily moved it to the top so that people would see it. Eventually it's going to "live" somewhere else, but until that's created (and since it's a new feature) we moved so that people would see that they had them.
Why are "Mentions" now above "Private Messages" in the mailbox?
The old order was just fine and to me made more sense.
Or put them under "Private Messages."
Ay-yi-yi.
If you report a TOS Violation,
clicking on the green bar does not take you back to the original post.
Thank You Tom. I get the SEO thing, but appreciate you recognizing your existing customer base's need for efficiency.
What made it worse, at least for me, was the fact that the Full View did not give an indication that I had already viewed that post.
When you are actually busy, and not just strolling through, trading and searching for new info., I had to take the time to figure out if I had already viewed each post and each post took up more space on every page. Therefore, more clicks and scrolls.
Some times, quick, quick, quick can make all the difference.
It would be nice if iHub could have generated a QR code for each of us for the Membership Drive.
Oh well. I found a way to make one. This ought to be fun. Here we go 👍️
The iHub activities are fun. Keep up the good work to keep things fun.
T.y.
John/ Shelly, anyone, i have a link here which for me shows a vacant lot, whereas knowing the poster
well and noting there are three replies to the post it could not have been empty before ..
https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=171972350 .
Thought is it could have been a meme be has disappeared, the third reply
.. https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=171976139 .. there suggests there was a link, too.
Hope this post is helpful to even maybe some fix.
There was a glitch over the weekend. Logout and then clear your ADVFN cookies. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please let us know here.
iHub is broken again.
Every time you click on the main message board link of any stock it says the following:
Oops! Something gone wrong here!
Our engineers have noticed the problem and we are working on it now!
If the problem persists please let us know.
Woot! Glad to hear it solved everything. :)
Have a great day as well!
Tom, see the message linked below. Everything is copacetic...no need to look into the problem I wrote to you about last week. >>
https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=172756912
Thanks Shelly. That worked. Not only was that problem resolved but the other problem noted in the previous message (to Tom) -- also fixed -- all by clearing cookies. I am able to view the quote table and chart to the right of the screen on the stock board home page, along with regaining access to "Quote, Trades, Historical", etc. I'll reply to Tom to let him know. Have a good day.
I'll let @IH Geek [Tom] respond regarding the first issue.
In regard to not being able to get to boards. There was some sort of glitch this weekend and that happened to a lot of people. Try logging out then clearing your ADVFN cookies. Then see if it works and let us know if that doesn't solve it.
Tom: Many thanks for letting us know the classic view will come back with the Latest Posts and Last 50 Posts options.
This old Miss Thang is grateful.
AND, I learned a new internet acronym -- SEO.
So many components to these sites.
Have fun with the changes.
I see you're getting "stuff" done. Now onto my problem which has grown since your last reply (see below)>>
https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=172746587
Yes, definitely. There are no plans to get rid of Classic for Board. We respect that you guys want to use it the way you always have.
I view Classic Board the same way as an email client works - gives you a preview.
Full View is the non-email-client and modern style that most other sites use (and is better for SEO purposes).
We can be Burger King about it, though. 🍔
That will be appreciated.
Hurray! Now, the question is will Classic View stay for the boards, as well?
Profile - Latest Posts - we're going to add back in Classic style for the Classic folks. So if you're on Classic, you'll see the Profile the way it was prior to the recent change (summary/headlines only). The feedback was clear on that. 😀 FullViewers will see it in the new style.
That is the issue although for me it may take only a few minutes to trigger this and not 35-40.
There might also be another ad related issue.
When I go to search my or another members posts I get a greyed out screen that won’t allow a search term to be entered.
This “greyed out” screen use to occur when I went to access the menu. That is no longer the case…the issue seems to have moved to access the post search screen.
Pretty sure Sunday mornings are often a little slower just due to regularly scheduled db maintenance.
Embarrassing how bad iHub is this morning.
Takes 7-15 seconds to load each post.
And 7-15 seconds to show you liked a post.
And then half the time (which has been going on for weeks by the way), you have to refresh your screen to show the next new post even though it's been there for hours upon hours.
Even RIGHT NOW when I JUST submitted this VERY post an error message popped up not allowing me to post it.
iHub has LITERALLY become UNUSABLE.
Just pathetic.
I know what this one is. We'll get it fixed.
cc: @IH Geek [Chuck]
@TenKay I confirm that I'm seeing this too, on my iPhone.
I think it's related to ads and trying to prove that with some tests + recordings.
@IH Geek [Dave] to reproduce: open pretty much any iHub page (or several) and then put them in background on Safari. Come back later, in say 30-45 min, open those tabs and most of the time the screen will be frozen and unable to scroll. The strange thing is that if you leave it long enough, it will unfreeze itself. This is obviously no good, but need to nail down exact cause.
Is this still an issue? Can you elaborate? What kind of pages. The board page, individual messages, are you in full view or classic mode? Does it affect pages like favorites and mailbox?
I love the new format!!! I especially love the fact that I can see all of the replies to a specific post without leaving the original post. Great job!
I have the same problems and worse. Given up. I deleted all but my very core interest and going to delete the rest one per day. I had 2 posts deleted within seconds in THIS room last night.
Too much for me. I’ll alter their statistics now. Make sure you never leave iHub running unattended in the background. This too will seriously decrease their users online at any moment
Are there still issues some are having with using an iPhone?
I am using my Safari browser and often…(more frequent of late) pages load slowly or partially or not at all. The screen will freeze (can’t even scroll).
I am not having any issues with any other message board or website. I have a 100+ Mb/s Wi-Fi connection. I have cleared my cache, logged out and back in, reset my network, hard rebooted my phone.
Nothing seems to work.
Some times it is tolerable, but it is becoming more frequently almost unusable.
My desktop is fine.
Just throwing it out there.
