It would be very interesting to determine how many dollars of profit were made for each dollar invested in treasure hunting ventures by uninvolved investors (those who don't participate in the day to day operations).
Perhaps the answer would well explain why it could be easily considered prudent to invest post news rather than pre news (that may never come).
