Why not? It's not just the health risk that they are concerned about but also the addictive attributes of Nicotine; mandating VLN would be a great partner to them (FDA) going to communities and educating the next generation regarding the dangers of smoking .
I remember in the early 90s a lady got in an tragic car accident and their lawyer sued an automaker, I think it was Ford. Claimed that automakers had airbag technology but weren't putting it in their cars. They won millions. How long before someone sues the FDA for having a healthier solution available for smokers but not making it available? Do I hear class action from smokers who get cancer? Surely some lawyer has got to pick up on the mega millions.
