As long as the light is green or even yellow jump away. When it needs charging the light will be red (it came with a house charger) plug it in and about four hour later your good to go. I set up on my computer a time schedule to remind me every three months to check it. What good is it if I let it go dead? Why wait hours for road service to get a jump when you can jump-start your own car in less than a minute. I will never be late for work or a business appointment waiting too long for road service again. I own it, I use it, I love it and it works for my family and me. Yes No 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful Compact, Useful, Simple By Nick on February 27, 2014 I was apprehensive buying a new product from a newer company but the size of this product was appealing compared to other jump packs. It has worked for me so far, just hoping it has decent longevity, especially during in a frigid car most of the winter. I may have to try some durability testing after winter is over. So far though, from the couple of times I've used it, I'd say it's a neat product that is straight forward to use.
