Here's just one of the positions.

Date: Mar 13, 2014
Location Santa Clara, CA, US
Senior Transceiver Validation Engineer - 721590

Description

Intel’s Silicon Photonics Operation (SPO) – an optical-transceiver development group in Intel’s Data Center & Systems Group (DCSG) - seeks a Senior IC Validation Engineer to be responsible for validating functionality and characterizing the performance of ICs used in Intel’s 100Gb/s+ Silicon Photonic transceivers, using automated test procedures.

This is a mixed-signal IC, product-development validation-engineering position - working closely with the IC Design team, the Product Integration team and the Manufacturing Test team.

The Senior Optical IC Validation Engineer responsibilities:
- Validation of custom, multichannel 25Gb/s+ transmit and receive ICs, as well as IC-optical transmit/receive transceiver sub-blocks, employed in Intel optical transceivers
- Defining, developing and acquiring hardware and software tools to perform this validation
- Constructing validation test plans, test boards, automation test scripts, test architectures to guarantee data integrity
- Developing specifications and building test stations for IC validation and integrated electronic-photonic sub-assembly validation
- Performing and supervising validation testing, including optical and RF performance characterization and compliance testing, and firmware compliance testing
- Failure analysis and root cause identification of any performance issues
- Documentation and presentation of results, including select customer presentations
- Defining/contracting safety compliance testing (UL) and electromagnetic testing

Planning and leadership responsibilities:
- Define the strategy, hardware and software specifications for test/validation stations and the validation/test-process; planning future silicon-photonics transceiver validation
- Recommend resourcing to ensure that the product validation testing function is timely and is capable of supporting the advancing photonic-interconnect products in the development pipeline
- Work with the IC design team, photonic component design team, the integration/firmware team to conduct validation to product launch schedules
- Reviewing work of the optical component validation engineers and technicians– including performance, data-integrity assessment, data-analysis, and

Role Deliverables:
- The validation portion of the Silicon-Photonic Transceiver IC and transceiver ‘design-flow’
- Documented high-integrity validation results – delivered via technical reports - suitable for internal and external customers, and for the creation of product collateral
- Reports to track status and completion of required tests, consistent with new product introduction programs.

The ideal candidate should own the following skills and exhibit the following behavioral traits:

· Own excellent writing/documentation skills; for reports, status updates, customer visits

· Be a strong team player, bringing collaboration skills

· Own hands-on laboratory technical skills, sufficient to define, execute and supervise 10-25G electronic-photonic IC and optical transceiver characterization testing

· Exhibit the maturity to work as a self-directed, disciplined, independent contributor, handling multiple tasks, taking initiative, leveraging and leading group resources as required, to meet schedule and performance requirements

· Exhibit characterization diligence and critical technical skills to identify data integrity issues

Own the ability to multi task
