Alliance-Boots sells a lot of stuff beyond prescriptions that are not reimbursement dependent. Their last-reported profits were spectacular. Reimbursement pressure is a global phenomenon whose impact is likely mostly to be felt in multi-payor systems such as in the U.S. and Germany where cost pressure is just starting to feel the scrutiny of both media and the voters.
I am not familiar with "co-op" but maybe it is one of those examples of groceries using Rx's as loss leaders? LOL!
