ENGEL, NYPRO & STERLING all are in the "for profit" business. They are not looking for gov't. handouts. LQMT is there because of that synergistic relationship w/ those partnering businesses. They see LQMT as a means to increase sales and profits.
As important as the ENGEL CEO in attendance is the fact that Joachim Kragi, Director of Advanced Molding Systems and Processing for Engel traveled to the symposium and will be speaking as well.
IMO, LQMT will be discussed throughout the presentations.
1. I sense this is the "soft launch" of the ENGEL machine with Liquidmetal capability "add-ons". ENGEL will want to put their best foot forward.
2. I think there will be a very tangible air of interest by the participants.
3. IMO - It also means VISSER is being demoted, like it or not. VPC won't have the will or resources (or facts on their side) to fight these companies in court.
Positively exciting that Steipp is also discussing advanced materials like the MTRN alloy LM105 (no more Be in the alloy) in conjunction with ENGEL + a technical demonstration hopefully showcasing the process to the attendees will result in orders for engineering design services for molds and prototypes at the minimum.
I'll "bet" the medical anvil made out of LQMT is passed around.
Steipp better bring some engineering staff to handle the technical inquiries.
You might want to jot down the LQMT attendance team while you're there.
Let's all hope for positive read on LQMT alloys to the future business of Materion during tomorrows conference call by MTRN.
