Sounds like a bad Mt4 build overall. Have you true installing on more than one computer? I would try another machine if one is available.

GM SelfMade...perhaps I can help some on the MT4 issue.First I need to know if youre already familiar with MT4 but having issues with the newly installed FXCM MT4 or are you new to MT4 altogether.
This post may get a kinda lengthy but here goes...mq4 is a source code that a human can read and edit if desired but the metatrader terminal cannot read or execute the mq4 script...the terminal can only read the compiled version of mq4 which is ex4.Some indicators or EAs showing in a folder may show both mq4 and ex4 but terminal only uses the ex4.If a programmer wants to protect his work he may only allow the ex4 to be downloaded but not the source code which as I said is mq4.
On the charts issue I think I would start by choosing one of those charts and maximizing it then building the template to your satisfaction and next go to "file" in upper left corner and click profiles then save your setup under name of your choosing...then go to templates and save your template under name you choose.Next just to be sure go back and save profile again.
Next bring up "marketwatch" by clicking the little square box near upper left that says marketwatch as you mouse over it.This sybmols list will show symbols you have subscribed to...next right click and choose "show all" and a list of all available symbols will come up...add any symbol you want from this list.
Its always a good idea to save profile anytime you make significant changes to you overall setup so anytime you open MT4 it will come up just the way you want it to.
To add a chart you can drag&drop a pair from marketwatch list onto an already open chart or if you want it opened in a new chart window then click file..then ne chart...then select pair...this will be a new chart window...next simply apply you template to the new chart.
Next thing I recommend is go to tools...choose options...then under "charts" change max number bars in history to 5000 and max number of bars in chart to 2500.This will eliminate freezing and buggy acting things from happening and your mt4 will run like a little rocket for you in the future as well as in its new state as it is now.

SelfMade..one more thing I failed to talk about...installing indicators.Anytime you download a custom indicator EA or script and are satisfied that path is correct then you must close MT4...reopen MT4 and if path was correct it will show up in your navigator list under Custom Indicators ready to drag&drop onto your chart.
