Enlightened1,

Hey, I watch the Science Channel, too. I know all about that Einstein stuff. In fact, I just got through reading a wonderful
book by Brian Greene. The title is "The Fabric of the Cosmos".
You see, in this Elegant Universe there are believers in the Expansion Theory and others who believe in the Big Crunch. With the Universe, we will unfortunately never know. IDWD will reveal its fundamental nature.

By the way, Chapter Thirteen is my favourite. It's all about Superstrings, Eleven Dimensions, and p-branes. Speaking of Shadowwatch2oo3, aka Chesterfield Man, I think he should read that chapter, but I warn you it's extremely contagious. I see it all over this board.

OT: Maxwell had long ago saw that the speed of light is fixed in all reference frames but he simply didn't recognize what that meant. Yes, Lorentz equations were used as a starting point because it's practically basic mathematics that represent different reference frames, but his equations did not predict time dilation / length contractions. It was Einstein who has interpreted Maxwell's correctly and modified the lorentz eq.

It is possible that maybe others parallel-discovered and saw the discrepency but obviously they did not act upon it. Columbus and the egg my friend.

PS: I suppose NASA never went to the moon either?
