PDI was actually our ace-our best shot at turning this into a viable company.Why didn't we do it?For one simple reason-gravel isn't sexy-gold is.Gravel will never bring in the wild eyed drooling get rich boys who actually believe they have found the road to riches.But gravel is a basic commodity that is required to build the infrastructure that a country needs.They DON'T need gold.
There were actually MANY opportunities-one mentioned years ago was building a road through our concession down to the eastern side of the Carribean and developing the real estate.There was talk about developing hydro power.In fact there were MANY opportunities other than trying to develop a marginal gold mine with a very limited mine life....
In fact,I once saw an example of two portfolio's-one with junior gold stocks and one without.Which did better over the LONG haul in terms of stability,income and growth?-The portfolio WITHOUT gold stocks.Fifer isn't stupid-he KNOWS which side his bread is buttered on -and that is like all the rest of the Vancouver penny mining stocks-by mining gold from shareholders pockets.Running a profitable gravel business requires day to day hands on efficiency-running a penny gold mine stock relys on ''Huge News'' and naive people who are prepared to''anticipate''rather than actually get results.
I put it to you-any OTHER company that tried to get away with what junior gold mining companies routinely pull off would have issued pink slips to the management LONG before they got to this point,and they certainly WOULDN'T be REWARDING them
Unfortionately,its TOO LATE now,the only way this could be turned around is by consolidation and recapitalization-AND by bringing in efficient management who actually have experiance and credability
we've been well and truely ''had''-go on-tell me it isn't so....
