TOTALLY wrong. (It would have been correct if you said "some" instead of "any")

Some viruses will never be eliminated because they are endemic in vectors in the wild (bats, wild ducks, etc etc) and we could not possibly ever treat all of them.

BUt those viruses that exist only in man can be (and have been in the case of SMallpox and are being in the case of polio) eliminated.

THe critical distinction is whether they are present only in man or also endemic in wildlife.

I expect the source population to gradually reduce as the carriers (us) diminish due to Cides eliminating the infection in our bodies. Will it reduce to zero? I expect so. The cides are a blocker in the transport cycle. Viruses by themselves have no duplication capability - we are a necessary link in their reproductive cycle.
