Developing software, especially the backend databases and queries and such is a real skill. Creating a website from scratch by writing all of the code yourself takes skill.

Buying a template and doing some customization is something that just about anyone can do. These things are designed to be easy enough that someone with just a basic understanding of web development can publish a nice looking, feature rich website.

This is a huge improvement (or will be when it's finished) over the other site but. like everything else here, it's being hyped as more than it really is.
